Grand Café is still good even though they have changed their name. I heard that the chef is still there. It's kind of pricey, especially compared to the original location in Oakland, but the food is authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese style cuisine. This will definitely satisfy your carb/MSG cravings, lol! We got takeout for a weekday lunch. This is our usual order now: Fresh sliced fish porridge, $14.95 - they always do a great job with this. This is the Cantonese equivalent of chicken noodle soup. The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!
It's been a year since I've back. Friends and I came in for lunch. We ordered a few dishes to share. My fave was the free range chicken stir fried with peppers. The chicken is tender and nice flavors. It's perfectly cooked with a bit of spicy kick to it. We also ordered sweet and sour pork and a veggie dish.
I absolutely love a good HK cafe and this was no different! Nothing beats a solid plate of beef chow fun, with the crunchiness of the bean sprouts, and the smooth, slippery texture of the rice noodles, to the soft and tender beef slices to the delicious wok hay char flavor that can only be accomplished by cooking in a wok over a high flame. I settled on my go to this time, the bbq pork over rice. It is my ultimate comfort food and Grand cafe does it really well. The bbq pork was glowing in a glistening hue that I just could not resist. It had a sweet glaze and the pork itself had a nice soft, yet chewy texture to it. The rice was no different. It was coated with the glaze from the bbq pork and each bite was nothing but heavenly, sweet grains entering the taste buds. I would love to come back to eat this dish several more times!
Bunched among other restaurants near the shopping outlet mall in Dublin, Grand Cafe delivers on quality Cantonese Chinese food. Pretty busy on a Friday night and parking was a bit of a challenge in the small parking lot in the strip mall. Once we got in though, we were still seated quickly, given hot tea and ice water right away, and had our order taken fast. Service was attentive and generally friendly. We tried three dishes this time: -Beef chow fun: went gravy style and it was delicious, with pillowy rice noodles, beef that was tender and not over-tenderized, and crispy sautéed bok choy. Serving size was good too. -Mushroom medley with Japanese tofu: good mix of different types of mushrooms and hockey puck-shaped custardy tofu that were tasty and perfect over rice -Chicken and Chinese sausage clay pot: nostalgic dish for us that didn't completely hit the mark. Flavors were on point but the chicken and overall dish were on the dry side. On the higher price side for Cantonese food even for the Tri-Valley area, but the portions were a good size and will come back to explore other menu items.
This is a huge plaza full of things like target and boba so if you can't find parking in the immediate area, just go across the parking lot and there's PLENTY of parking. I came here for my grandmas birthday with 2 full tables and they were really good about getting us a table on a Saturday night. Be prepared to wait a bit but the food is worth it. They're known for their wonton noodles which is super smooth with the right amount of savory in the soup and right amount of protein (wontons) with the carb that is in the form of noodles. If you're a spicy person, I suggest mixing in their chili oil for an extra kick. They also have this crab dish that they're famous for that I highly recommend. It is crab with sticky rice (lo mai fan), a glutinous rice with Chinese sausage. This was hands down my favorite dish out of everything that we got, even over honey walnut prawns and pan fried noodles. I'm usually really lazy to crack open crab legs but I couldn't help but dig in because the flavors meshed so well together with the sticky rice. In terms of the other dishes, they were delicious but nothing you can't get elsewhere in a different Chinese restaurant, but I do recommend getting your wonton noodles here and if you can spare the time, absolutely try their crab and sticky rice, the two things they are known for.
Our family's go to spot for dinner! We often come were monthly when we are craving their fried pork chops and shrimp and egg chow fun! So good, everything always comes out fast and hot! Service is always on point, the staff are always so welcoming and friendly!
We stopped here on the way out of Bay Area after visiting the outlets. Grand Cafe is one of several Cantonese restaurants in the area. They are your typical HK style cafe with the usual Cantonese offerings like chowmein or chowfun, congee, rice noodle rolls. Only a few parking spots in front of the restaurant. But, they are plenty of spaces if you walk a little. Service was good. We ordered a congee and a seafood braised noodle. The food came out quickly. The portion size was big, but so was the price. Both the congee and noodle dish had plenty of ingredients inside it. The taste was good. My wife and I probably could've shared one entree instead of ordering 2. It was so good that we took the leftovers with us (we never do when we are traveling). Grand Cafe was a good find for us We might be back if in the area during lunchtime.
Parking is a hit or a miss as it is shared with other stores and restaurants in a plaza. Service was quick and efficient. Outside looks small but it is very open and spacious inside. the booth or tables are divided well and does not make anyone feel cramped. Food portion is big. Big plate, lots of food. Beef Chow Fun ($19.95) - has good wok hay. Lots of noodles and had lots of slices of beef which is good. It is not super oily either. Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice (20.95) - Salty, Savory and Satisfying. Hits all the components of what a Salty Fish Fried Rice should be. We added loads of white pepper and that made the dish even more better! Pork Ribs in Peking Sauce ($20.95) - Big chunks of pork chop/ribs in a red sweet/savory sauce. Meat wasn't think or pounded out. It was chunky which made it even more better. Green Beans with Chicken ($20.95) - Was more like chicken with green beans but that means more protiens!. Dish is very good. Got the crunch from the green beans, the soft and tender chicken and the sauce coating the beans and chicken to tie it together. Shrimp Wonton Soup ($12.95) - 10 BIG shrimp wontons! Although there was only 10, it was enough for 4 ppl. Broth was very salty though even with a good amount of white pepper mixed into it.
San Francisco usually have great Chinese food restaurants and living in the east bay, I always look for something similar in terms of taste, portion, and price. A friend suggested this place , "Grand Cafe" in Dublin,CA. I was not disappointed! Coming here, there were plenty parking and tables inside to sit. We came on Saturday evening 6pm and was brought to our table within a couple of minutes. The place was clean and spacious. We ordered the following: Wonton Vermicelli noodle soup, beef chow fun, beef Chinese broccoli, jerk chicken Chinese sausage, and salt pepper fish. The beef was very tender, the fried salt and pepper fish was light and crunchy, and chow fun noodles was perfect and not greasy. The portion was a lot! After they gave us red bean soup as dessert. The service was friendly and quick. Overall, i`m very happy to have one here in the east bay and not have to drive into San Francisco. I will definitely return.

Our friends have been raving about this place for a while. We recently discovered Hong Kong Café on the other side of Dublin and thought it was solid Cantonese-style cuisine, but our friends insisted Grand Café was better. I'm really glad we tried this place because I might have to concede that they might be right. My parents ordered most if not all their classic favorites and were very happy, which it's saying a lot. The Food: - Salt-and-pepper pork: crispy, savory, lightly spicy, and absolutely succulent. My favorite of the meal. - chef's combination platter, medium: included two meats and the medium comes with sides of seaweed salad and mini octopus (octopi? ). We chose roast duck, roast pork. The Little One got a kick seeing out of seeing tiny octopi on her plate, but ultimately didn't want to eat it. I really enjoyed the duck. So hard to mess that up. The roast pork, though, was lacking in crispiness, and felt a bit fattier and chewier than I prefer. Normally I love roast pork, so this one just didn't quite hit the spot for me. - tomato beef pan-fried noodles: I don't usually order this combination with tomato beef, but it was listed as a popular dish on Yelp. I actually enjoyed it. the beef was tender, and the sauce had a pleasant, slightly sweet flavor. That said, the sauce softened the crispy noodles quite a bit, which turned the picky Little One off a bit from eating it. - Honey walnut shrimp/prawns: one of my childhood favorites and still currently one of my wife's favorites. The Little One likes walnuts too. Can't go wrong with this dish. - Sampan jook/congee/porridge (tang jai jook): my dad's favorite and it was excellent. Paired with... - Chinese donut wrapped in noodles (zhaliang): quite the classic comforting, combo. Overall, an excellent meal, and my parents were kind enough to treat us. They asked for a paper menu to take home, which means they like it a lot. We'll definitely be back. Giving this 4 stars, which matches their current rating. I hear 3.5 is the sweet spot for Chinese food, so hopefully the higher star rating doesn't hurt them
We stumbled across this restaurant on our drive back home. The food here is solid. Service was friendly. The chicken and green beans were delicious. We also ordered the Hong Kong style chow mein and that was also good. I liked the complimentary red bean dessert. It brought me back to how Chinese restaurants offered this dessert back in the day. The nostalgia was reminiscent of my youthful days. Overall, I would definitely visit this establishment should I be in the area and craving Chinese food.
This place is my in-law's favorite restaurant. Service is good. Food is awesome as usual. Tried their Hainan Chicken Rice plate this time. Chicken is very well made, rice is good, but they only give ginger scallion as the dipping sauce, can't say it is fully authentic Hainan Chicken Rice. After all, this is not only my in-law's favorite, it is also one of my favorite too. Downside is parking is very limited, although there's plenty of parking across on Target side, but crossing that busy road is not fun at all
Service: Attentive. Place is spacious and we got seated right away since we also came at an odd time. Overall, the vaule is reasonable as far as taste of the food and portion. Fish congee was my favorite dish.
We stopped by for dinner as we were craving some good Cantonese style options. I'm always open to flexing my Cantonese in front of my girlfriend too. For anyone coming, the parking can be really bad as it shares probably 20 or so spots with several other restaurants. It's near impossible to park nearby with the alternative of parking near the Panera's or even the target. There's plenty of tables and seats inside, and it was pretty slow when we dined in. Convenient televisions on two different sides where all the workers were casually watching, and quite the chatter in the kitchen where they're all watching the World Cup. That doesn't really affect service however as they're quite attentive when called for. We ordered the salted fish and chicken fried rice, and the medium bbq platter with char sound soy sauce chicken. All very delicious! The only thing is that they can bit on the pricier side with $20 for the fried rice and $30 for the bbq plate. Overall, I thought grand cafe definitely scratched our itch for Cantonese style dining experience. It typically comes with great food, good service, and a bit of nostalgia from being from the Bay Area. read more
I think they are affiliated with the Mayflower restaurant. The chopsticks had Mayflower printed on the wrapper We were having lunch with a small group and one couple eats mainly Chinese food. We wanted to try a restaurant we had not previously visited and came across Grand Cafe. There were 6 of us so we each chose a dish plus a soup to eat family style. We ordered: Westlake Soup- Tasty and refreshing 4/5 Salt and Pepper Pork Chops - Good flavor and fried just right with garlic 4/5 Asparagus with Chicken - Fresh and tasty 4/5 Beef with Chinese Broccoli - Great flavor and cooked perfectly 4/5 Grand Cafe Fried Rice - Good combination 4/5 Grand Cafe Special Fried Noodles Tasty, fresh and crunchy with gravy 4/5 Assorted Mushrooms with Japanese Tofu - Favorite of the group, great flavor, very tasty and soft delicious tofu, perfect vegetable plate 5/5 Service was very attentive, kept our glasses full and a great restaurant ti have a get together with family or friends. Grand Cafe is a Cantonese restaurant located in the Fallon Gateway, not far from the San Francisco Premium Outlets. They operate in the space previously occupied by Gum Kuo. My brother and I met a few friends here for dinner on 11/28/2025. At around 7:15pm, the place was completely full. Fortunately, our friends arrived a little earlier and secured a table. The interior was clean. A couple TVs on the walls were showing different sporting and news programs. Their menu featured a wide array of non-Americanized Cantonese fare. We decided to do family style and got half a dozen dishes to share. They were: Beef Filet with Mixed Mushrooms, 1lb of BBQ Pork, Fujian Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun with Gravy, House Pan Fried Noodles, and Salted Pork Bone and Peanut Porridge. Our food arrived in about 15 minutes. Overall, I was impressed by quality and authenticity. Despite the slightly higher price point comparing to other similar restaurants, they didn't skimp on anything. The rice and noodle dishes were loaded with delicious toppings, and the taste was on point. The BBQ pork and the beef filet dish were both fantastic. The meat/fat ratio of the BBQ pork was just right, and the beef filet cubes were tender and flavorful. The porridge was just okay. My mom's version still reigns supreme. Service we received was very good. Our server was very friendly and gave us helpful suggestions. She did forget our iced water, but I am willing to overlook that. I got a chance the chat with staff before we left, they were all very genuine and friendly people. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience here. The food was authentic and tasty, and the staff were friendly and helpful. If you want authentic Cantonese food but don't want to pay the super premium price, this is definitely a good option for you. I will return. 4 solid stars. read more

Authentic Cantonese cuisine! Best place to get delicious roast pork belly (crispy top layer, juicy white pork meat). They offer the best congee in the bay! I highly recommend their congee with abalone and chicken. Slices of real abalone with soft pieces of fresh boneless chicken! read more

The service here is very friendly and they operate very efficiently. Came here with some family to grab a bite to eat. We wanted something relatively quick and comforting. It was after the holidays so no one wanted to cook and this place sounded perfect for us. I got to try some bites of like the other shared items, but I really wanted a bowl of the shrimp dumpling noodle soup. The dumplings were well-made and the soup really hit the spot. This is a great place to stop by for noodles or rice. We ordered hot and sour soup, sweet and sour pork, Yangzhou fried rice, a BBQ platter, and tofu with seafood. Their food was delicious, and they had a decent portion. We liked all the food we ordered; they were very Cantonese. Meanwhile at the Grand Cafe... a kung fu master and his eager student sat down for what was supposed to be a peaceful lunch. The master, famous for balancing on bamboo poles during typhoons, nearly fell off his chair after tasting the wonton noodle soup, exclaiming it had more power than a flying side kick. The student, trying to impress him, declared he could eat the Hainan chicken with perfect kung fu form only to accidentally flick a piece of chicken skin across the room like a throwing star then landing flat on a strangers forehead. Instead of scolding, the master laughed so hard his tea spilled, then solemnly declared, "True YELP mastery is knowing when to savor soup, not when to strike." The student nodded, cheeks red, and ordered another bowl of soup. True enlightenment, is like Hainan Chicken, harmony is in its broth and chicken rice. read more
Came here on a Friday around 7:30pm and most of the small tables were taken. We got seated immediately. We order the thousand year old egg and pork congee, shrimp wonton noodle and bbq pork rice roll. Love the taste of the congee. Quite salty as it should be. Wish there was more pork. Wonton noodle came with 6 wontons, that's pretty generous. The noodle was al dente! Bbq pork rice roll was ok. The rice roll was thin but very fragile. The soy sauce was not flavorful. Solid place for Cantonese style Chinese food! It's located in a strip mall in Dublin, nothing fancy inside but often busy (which is a good thing since it usually means good food!). We came early and so were seated immediately. We got several dishes- crispy pan fried noodles, Yang Chow fried rice, roast duck, green bean chicken, roast pork, and a won ton noodle. Everything was tasty! Portions were good sized. A little pricey but overall a good experience. We've been back since and had a couple more dishes (fish filet with corn sauce and shrimp & egg chow fun) and those were good too. Will be back again for sure! read more
Needed to grab a quick bite around Dublin and found Grand Cafe on Yelp. The restaurant is nice and spacious, the booths are very comfortable. Staff was very nice and friendly. They greeted us with a smile and brought tea quickly. Ordered Hainan Chicken over Rice and Shrimp and Silky Egg Chow Fun. Both dishes were very well made. The Hainan Chicken was very good free range chicken. The chow fun came with ten huge prawns that were very fresh. Portions were quite generous. We were served very sweet sliced orange for dessert. Prices are a bit on the high side, $22.95 for a plate of chow fun. Other than that, it's a pretty good and legit Cantonese restaurant. read more

Delicious and fresh and the food comes in good portions Beef chow fun is loose and skinny, not clumped up at all like other asian restaurants. Wonton meat is packed and the wrap is thin. Salt and pepper pork is crisp and not too oily. The beef dish (and sadly most asian restaurants) doesn't have tendon but it was yummy and good bite size If you're around Dublin and want some asian food, definitely swing by or order to go read more

I was looking for a Hong Kong Style Cafe, but not too many around, so I gave this place a tried which I knew they had what I was looking for, the Beef Stew Wonton Ho Fun. Came in around 12:30pm, not many customers. The service was great. The beef stew was tender and flavorful, the shrimp wontons were good too, but the broth wasn't too flavorful, kind of blend. I also ordered a beef cheong fun, also not that good. I have eaten dinner here before, which is very good. read more

This place brings back the goodness of Cantonese cuisine from the east coast which you rarely find in California. The food was fantastic and tasted amazing. Great staff, very clean establishment and the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this restaurant and I find it to be the best Cantonese restaurant in the Bay Area. read more

Trash can is full, but no one came in to clean it. The toilet has shit and the pee is all over the ground for male toilet. ground is dirty and the detergent is falling on the ground!!!
