We enjoyed our dinner here. The staff was so friendly and obviously wanted us to enjoy our food and our visit to their restaurant. We had egg rolls and crab puffs to start. Both were tasty, though the crab puffs just tasted like regular cream cheese wontons to me. I liked them a lot, though! My husband had Michael's chicken at the recommendation of our host. He loved it, and as she predicted the leftovers were very good, hot or cold. I had veggie chow mein and really liked that too. The only minus is that the place looks disorganized and messy, with a stack of boxes and supplies piled high in the back of the restaurant. I paid $85 dollars for all of my food and I get home and they don't give me the one thing I wanted so I called them and asked can a get a replacement order and they said no you said it wrong and kept yelling NO YOU! NO YOU! And the food is all frozen and reheated. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

Stopped into have lunch. I had the Generals chicken and my wife lemon chicken. Both dishes were very good. As I was setting there they started setting there table for there family lunch. One of the women was bringing out food and came over and offered me some of there duck and and onions. Was very good. Will be back soon. Love the family owned business. read more

My sister yelped this restaurant while we were on a family trip on the Oregon coast. We needed a takeout option to take to our hotel. We arrived at the restaurant and were warmly welcomed by Chef Michael. He made several recommendations, one being the Michael Chicken. Everything was delicious. This place was so great! We were looking for a place with good vegan options and this ended up being perfect. Some good vegetarian options and the owner was even able to substitute tofu instead of meat for us in other dishes! We had the family style tofu and subbed tofu for a meat option to make sesame crispy tofu. They were both delicious. My mom got the sesame crispy beef and really liked it too. This new China Restaurant was once Geng Sing. It has been reopened by a delightful chef/owner who bends over backwards to make each visit a pleasant event. Several people have written reviews under the old Geng Sing name so you might want to check there for some information. I went to try this restaurant at the urging of someone who had eaten there and thought it was a huge improvement from the former one. The soups were excellent and homemade. The Honey Walnut Prawns were awesome with tender, juicy shrimp with a crispy crust drenched in a fabulous honey sauce. I would recommend that you give this place a try and see for yourself what a good choice China Restaurant is. read more

I REALLY wanted to like this restaurant. 2 of us went for lunch. We both ordered the special dinner at $13.50pp so we could try several items at once. We heard all kinds of chopping and sizzling in the kitchen and were very hopeful we would get a great meal. The Good: Friendly waitress. Cold water. Clean restaurant and bathroom. The Bad: Most of the food. The egg flower soup was okay after the addition of salt and pepper. The BBQ pork looked good, but had no flavor. The shrimp was huge, but it was 80% batter. The almond chicken was drowned in tasteless gravy and had TWO sliced pieces of almond on the top. The pork fried rice was okay. The beef stir fry had good flavor, but the noodles were overdone and sticky. But the corker was the sweet and sour pork which seemed to have beer (?) in the recipe---maybe not beer, but it was awful. We had to ask for the ketchup/hot mustard and the waitress acted like she didn't know what we were talking about. I am sure if I had enough time, money, and patience I could find one or two items that are edible. Also, they treat their regular customers differently than walk-ins. We did not get any hot tea while regulars did and also while we were there we saw a regular get free soup to go and a walk-in had to pay $2 for their soup to go. Not cool. read more

We visited friends in town and wanted Chinese for lunch. Although I am a fan of sweet and sour dishes the waitress (perhaps owner) recommended the special which was "chef Michael's chicken". She was so insistent that we would like it that I agreed to try it to shut her up. Let's just say SHE WAS RIGHT! It was crispy chicken that was sweet with a hint of spicy heat and was a generous portion. I'm looking forward to our next trip to the coast because I will order this again. read more

This restaurant started out really good, food was fresh and the service was excellent. Went again recently and I don't know if I hit it at a bad time but I ordered Lemon Chicken that tasted like rubber. Seriously, the chicken must have been in a freezer for a few years. Could barely cut it with a knife or chew it and it tasted old. Really sorry to have to give them a bad review but I hope they go back to cooking the way they did when they first opened. We loved this place for years and ate there 5-7 month. There are new owners and now the food stinks. I ordered the garden fresh triple chow mien. It had hard cabbage, noodles that were not done and no other vegetables in it. It tasted like?????, I threw it away. They raised the prices and the quality of food has definitely gone down. read more

This was our first and last visit to this restaurant. We came with low expectations and left flabbergasted and hungry. We ordered the combination appetizer - egg rolls, fried shrimp, some sort of cream cheese puff ($10.50!?). This turned out to be the worst offerings that Sysco sells, poorly fried in old oil. We ate the shrimp but we quit after two bites of egg roll. The cream cheese puff was just strange. We ordered sesame chicken and Mongolian beef ($10.50/each). The chicken was as dry as cardboard and was covered with a super sweet sauce and a sprinkling of sesame seeds (I could have counted them) and the Mongolian beef was so overladen with soy sauce and MSG as to render it inedible. I am not a picky eater and love fried food as much as the next person, but the only thing we were served that was remotely palatable was the white rice. Do yourself a favor and drive the 8 miles to Yachats. read more
