Portions here are huge, well except for my go-to favorite, pork and dry bean curd. Seems like they cut the portion in half from previous visits which is concerning. Their chicken and snow cabbage fried rice however is humongous, as is their spicy pork chops (similar to salt pepper pork chops). One order came with 5 large thick pork chops and you couldn't even close the container. It was also very good and would order this again. read more

We gave China Taste a try, but unfortunately, the food just didn't hit the mark for us. The prices were great and the service was solid--friendly and quick--but the flavor wasn't quite there. We ordered an egg roll, which I only took one bite of, and both the orange chicken and sesame chicken. They were okay, but not very flavorful unless you really soaked the chicken in sauce. It lacked the boldness we usually enjoy in these dishes. That said, it might've just been what we ordered--other reviews seem to rave about different items on the menu. We just didn't end up enjoying our choices this time around, so we probably won't be returning. Still, we appreciate the quick service and affordable pricing. read more

This is my family's go to place for takeout, my grandparents came here a lot too (RIP :( ), and now I can take my bf and friends here! My family usually orders the same things so here are a list of things I've tried. ~ENTRES~ DRY BEAN CURD W/ BEEF: Just tofu with shredded beef, a popular dish in Chinese cuisine. The tofu and shredded pork is stir fried in a sweet/savory sauce and there is jalapeno on the dish for an added kick. This pairs well with rice, not too salty either. SAUTEED FISH FILLET : One of my favorite dishes!! It comes in a stone/clay pot, theres white fish (not sure what kind), pickled cabbage, tofu, and bamboo in a clear savory sauce. Its like a thick broth, not too much where its soup and has a subtle flavor. I really enjoy this dish because its all of my favorite foods combined and its not too salty. SNOW CABBAGE & EGG & SHREDDED PORK FRIED RICE: BEST FRIED RICE! When people think of fried rice, they think of rice mixed with soy sauce and those frozen peas and carrots, this fried rice is on a different level. It has so many more flavors, the pickled snow cabbage makes this dish for me. ~SUSHI~ SHRIMP TEMPURA ROLL- just a standard tempura shrimp with rice, not a big piece like most place, no cucumbers that go with it CRUNCHY SPICY TUNA ROLL- 1st roll I've tried from China Taste and has been my go to for awhile, I love the crunchy bread crumbs embedded in the roll. CALIFORNIA ROLL- standard california roll SALMON ROLL- I'm like 100% sure they used the smoked salmon from costco, its super salty, not a fan of this roll, but if you like smoked salmon then definitely try this. As for service, they give you a number and they call it out when your order is ready and I usually bus my own dishes since theres only one lady that does it and she works really hard, so I try to help her out. Ordered Dai Liu soup. Was sick the next day... all day. I would never recommend anyone going to this location. I took back the food today and explained to the manager that the food was bad, he was very rude and said that's BS, took the food and asked me to leave. I told him I was not expecting a refund and I was just informing him that the food was bad. He motioned for me to leave, was very rude. Try the new local hot pots. After 10 years as a loyal customer this place has run its course, and don't waste your time on the low quality sushi. In this day and age and competitive carry out, treating regular customers with respect should be part of customer service. And so I vote with my feet to Kenny's around the block, Chinese is the same most places and no attitude. And for any one who wonders about a substitution, over near work I get a lo mien subbed for rice for .50 extra on a chicken teriyaki - so really what is the cost of keeping a regular weekly customer or losing one to others within walking distance. read more

I worked in Rockville, MD from 1996 through 2010 and used to be a regular at China Taste - Tokyo Express on Rollins Ave, just off Rockville Pike. I used to have lunch here regularly so since I was in town for the weekend, I thought I'd see if it was still here. We visited on a Sunday at about noon and was happy to see the owner, Jay was still there. We visited a bit about how COVID affected business and how we were both doing. He indicated it was a rough stretch but he was still there. I was glad he was. We ordered my usual, General Tso's Chicken and my wife has Pork Lo Mein. It was as good as I remembered and the portions were still huge! We moved to Phoenix, AZ and it has been impossible to find good Chinese Food there but coming back to China Taste was a walk down memory lane. My family has gotten takeout from here at least 5 times and have enjoyed every meal! My boyfriend from Asia says there Taiwanese dishes are pretty accurate and tasty. We also love how affordable they are! They do not have a lot of conversation on the phone or with pick up but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. Overall great place to grab a bite to eat! Our go to for adorable sushi take out. They're super quick and can't beat their prices. We love it.

It's a clean, easy to access place. I think it's fair to say that you get what you pay for. Well, maybe a little bit more if flavor wouldn't hurt :-) It satisfies the evening craving for Chinese food well. It is cheap and fast. I'm not a big fan of their fried rice, it is very bland. But the rest of the things I have tasted were pretty decent. I haven't tasted their sushi, so this review is for China Taste only. The service is nice, and the people is friendly. I believe the cooks are Latin American lead by an Asian chef. I would go back every now and then when I crave for Chinese and I don't want to spend a lot of money and I'm already outside. read more

PEANUT ALLERGY ALERT!!! They put PEANUTS in CALIFORNIA ROLLS. WHY???? My son has peanut allergy. After eating a couple of California rolls, he started feeling nauseous and broke out in hives. So, I called the restaurant to see whether there is peanuts in the California rolls. The sushi chef confirmed that they use a Japanese mayo (this likely BS) that contains peanut oil. First of all, who puts mayo in California rolls??? Secondly, I thought he was lying. Allergens are removed through the peanut oil processing process. They're trying to skimp out by adding peanut mayo (whatever junk) fillers to the already fake 'krab' meat. DON'T go. I'm wondering about other shady stuff they're doing with the food. read more

This is one of my favorite places to eat in the area. I'm a frequent customer. Surprisingly, their sushi is very fresh and generous portions and absolutely yummy. My go-to order is always: - Salmon Special: 6 giant sushi pieces, 6 giant slices of sashimi - Broil California Roll: it's a jumbo Cali roll topped with REAL crab meat and sauces and tons of tobiko - Dried Tofu with Pork: it slices of dried tofu and pork with jalepenos stir fried The sushi comes with miso soup. They have Americanized Chinese food and authentic Chinese cookings along with a full Japanese menu from edamame, to teriyaki, to sushi. This place is awesome and I frequently go every week. I highly recommend you check it out and don't be dissuaded by its location. read more

Dried bean curd with pork is the best. If you eat GLUTEN FREE, he will sell you a bottle of GF soy sauce for just $3 and make your meal gluten free. Then you keep the rest. OR, he'll even label the bottle with your name and keep it for you to use on future meals so you don't have to pay the $3! No other restaurant has offered me such a nice and personal touch to accommodate my condition. Also, he will tell you upfront if the dish can't realistically be done gluten free. Big portions (my family of 3 can only finish 1dish) and meat is high quality and tender. COVID 19: this is one of those places that locks off the entire restaurant so nobody can come inside and you can only come pick up your food through a plexiglass glass barrier at the entrance. This is place is pretty unique. It's part Chinese takeout, part sushi joint, part "real deal" Chinese food. It's the third category we were interested in, and China Taste didn't disappoint. We had crispy chicken (a bit salty but quite good), spinach sautéed with garlic and probably the best spicy wonton I've ever eaten. The authentic Chinese menu is limited but interesting, supplemented by a daily special. The ambience is nothing fancy but clean and bright. (Unlike many Chinese places, they let the sun shine in the windows.) The service is basic: you order at the counter, then fetch your own plates and cutlery. (For some reason, you need to ask for chopsticks at the counter.) The tea, which again you serve yourself, is free. But I found the staff quite friendly, and the food came out in good time. Based on this first experience, this place is going to be part of our regular rotation. Will update as we get to know the place better. read more

I love getting food from here when I can, and I think they're generous with their portion sizes compared to some other restaurants. And the orders are always fast with making it for pick up, so you can get food on the go easily if you're always out and about/tight schedule. I was deciding what I wanted and manager was very impatient with me...then as I waited outside all of a sudden I see him running to the front kitchen and throws down his gloves on the ground and starts yelling and very abuse to the women up front. The women just stood there and took it, then he opens the kitchen door and starts yelling at the back....I realize now I should have called the police...is it a sweatshop? This has been my family's go-to chinese food since childhood and it's very underrated. Me and my family go here all the time for quality chinese food. They give large portions and the food has always been a hit. Last time we went, we ordered the dialu soup, yung chow fried rice. dry bean curd with pork, and crispy beef. We also ordered crispy tuna rolls which had a lot of tempura and fresh tuna and was delicious. Each dish is fresh and crispy. The only complaint I had was before the pandemic, seating was VERY limited. It was hard to find a table to fit more than 5 people. Since the pandemic started, we take out all the time and are able to eat this delicious food at home. read more

The tofu was mushy bc it was not properly drained and tasted a bit off, the sauce had a strange vinegar flavor with a sour after taste, and the brown rice was too mushy/sticky.
