This place is hard to review. On the one hand, they were like the only place in town open on Christmas. They're really popular, and people came and came and came to pick up call-in and online orders. They also have a 'special diet' menu, where you can order steamed food (for example, chicken and vegetables) with no salt, sugar, corn starch or msg. I had never seen this at any other restaurant and it is really nice for people with chronic health issues. On the other hand, it was super oily in the air, and our jackets had to be washed to get the smell out (this could be why NO ONE else stayed there to eat in their little five-table dining area). Also,...... and I hate to say it, but it needs to be said.... When we got there, there was an older Chinese woman actually hand-stuffing spiced meat into wonton wrappers, at one of the tables in the dining room; and a young boy putting cream cheese-like filling into crab rangoon wrappers. 'Wow, how great - they're not using frozen appetizers, but making them fresh!' I thought. As the restaurant got busier, the two stopped wonton-filling and presumably went to help in the back. Two hours later, when we left, I noticed that they'd left their plate of spiced meat and stack of wonton wrappers just sitting out on the table; along with about 10 more lbs of spiced meat, in a grey plastic shopping bag..... just sitting there on the table, at room temperature, for hours.... So.... if you must come... I guess... just don't order any wontons... :/ read more

This is and will always be my goto Chinese food restaurant. Been coming here since they opened in 1996. Since then they have been consistent with their quality and freshness. You get a lot for the price. Only twice in that entire time has my order not been right. They made good on both times. They used to have a buffet and that I still miss. I highly recommend read more

I have only ordered takeout, but I would definitely recommend this Chinese restaurant for take out. We have ordered many food choices from here and have been satisfied with everything we have ordered. They are very generous with the portions and our orders have been sometimes complicated and have always been correct. The price is absolutely worth it for the value of the quantity of food and the quality. Definitely my go to place for Chinese takeout ! read more

Ordered Triple Delight which is supposed to be chicken, beef, and shrimp with vegetables. For some reason, the vegetables were all onions! The beef was tiny stringy pieces. Taste horrible! Egg rolls without sauces? Never again. Been here before and eggfuyung and fried rice are way below standard. Go somewhere, anywhere, else.

Since moving to west bend in may 2023, my family has been looking for a good chinese place. We knew moving from milwaukee and Chicago, it would be a hard find. Parents just moved to Big Cedar and we were looking for a good Chinese for NYE. We discovered Chinatown as one of the more popular Chinese restaurants. Pick-Up was fairly easy and the food was packaged nicely. We ordered Orange Chicken, Chicken and Snowpeas, Crab Rangoon and Sautéed Broccoli. Ugh....such a miss and really poor Chinese food. Chicken was overly breaded and super soggy. Hardly any chicken and the breading tasted like it was old and had been sitting in sauce all day. The texture was so gross when you would bite into it. Rice was soggy and didn't taste good. Chicken and snowpeas was ok but chicken was questionable looking. Crab Rangoon was decent but the breading versus filling was really off...so much breading and so little filling. Almost want to ask for a refund, sooooo disappointing. Save your money and go elsewhere. We are going to try Pearl of Canton next and hope it works out better read more

Pretty busy , looked promising. We ordered orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken and two shrimp egg rolls. Got say it was an ok start, but it didn't make it to the finish line. The orange chicken we were told was "spicy" before we ordered to make sure that was ok. But when we got it we were searching for ANY flavor let alone spice... it had neither. It had a lot of dark meet which was fine, In fact it was probably it's only saving grace, making it tender and adding any flavor it could. We could tell it was not made to order. It had sat in the sauce for quite awhile. The sweet and sour sauce was similar in experience... colored water. Both the orange chicken and the sweet and sour, along with the rice was served slightly warmer than room temperature. The sweet and sour was like jelly. The rice was old too and almost cold. I was happy the shrimp rolls had whole shrimp. The shrimp were a good size, I was glad they weren't chopped up. the egg rolls themselves were Normal to small size. They were served HOT, but probably over fried or maybe double fried as they had taken on a lot of oil and were almost burnt. The portion size was ok, but most other places we can't finish, and here I had to stop eating to give my kids more. I did like that "eat in" was an option. The staff was friendly enough. The food came quickly (probably since it was , I'm Guessing, all pre-made in bins). It was one of the cleaner Chinese places I've seen, but it could have been a bit better nonetheless. I will not be revisiting this restaurant until I visit a few more in the area in hopes to find our new go-to Chinese. This one is not it. read more

I am a trucker from out of state but work for a local West Bend Company, so I am in town about weekly. I do carry out from here probably more often than I should over the past several years. I walk in and order and usually have my food in under 15 minutes. If they get slammed you will have to wait, but that's anywhere. My order has never been wrong and I have ever had a complaint about taste, quality, or even quantity. Pricing is fair and actually cheaper than the others for the amount you get. Family-owned business with exceptional Chinese takeout. They aren't farm to table or anything like that, but their chicken with snow peas, for example, is about as good a version of that dish you could get anywhere. The food is actually good. A bit pricey, but really good. I would take out their food again. I ordered inside the restaurant and got my food within less than 10 minutes. I ordered the chicken lo mein. Best chicken lo mein I have ever eaten. The vegetables in the lo mein was really fresh. Not soggy at all. It may have been pricey, but you get your money's worth! We've been going to Chinatown since they opened and have always loved the food. We were so disappointed when they closed, and happy they are open again. This afternoon we ordered two orders of pork egg foo yung, sesame chicken and Chicken almond ding. The egg foo yung was good, but the sesame chicken was dry and over fried, and the sauce tasted like burned molasses. The first thing that I noticed about the chicken almond ding was the overwhelming smell of lots of garlic, it had always had a hint of garlic, and it was so salty I couldn't finish eating it. I couldn't tell if the regular cook was at the wok, because the counter and back room had blurry plastic hanging up and I couldn't see into the kitchen. First time we've been disappointed. read more

We've heard this restaurant is recently under new ownership. Order was wrong and telephone call to have it corrected was not understood by the person at the restaurant. Sweet and sour chicken sauce had no flavor, chicken had even less flavor than McDonald's chicken nuggets. Chicken fried rice had an unusual charcoal flavor. Negatives: Grumpy lady at front counter (no smiles, no hello can I help you?) Vegetable egg roll had no vegetables inside-was all cabbage. Dish I ordered had a very small portion of rice and the chicken and sauce lacked flavor. The consistency and color of the sauce was that of "runny eggs". Was gross. Positive: Only positive to this experience is that I got a lot of chicken with order. However the chicken which was breaded was soggy and not crisp. Disappointing at best. Ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken. The tiny chicken chunks were dry and tough as shoe leather as well as heavily breaded and over-fried. The sweet and sour sauce was nothing more than an orange colored overly sweet gelatinous corn syrup product with a faint hint of candy-like Fruit Loops. It was so unpalatable and flavorless we couldn't eat it so just threw it in the trash. The Roast Pork egg rolls had an extremely oil soaked texture and were limp. The Beef with Chinese Vegetables consisted of strips of what appears to be highly tenderized "beef" that didn't resemble actual beef strips. The meat had a mushy, unappetizing consistency. Not sure about food safety - I didn't see the meat being obtained from refrigerated storage, but perhaps from a tub under the prep table (Yikes). The Chinese vegetables were large chunks of onion and pea pods. The beef sauce was also quite gelatinous as it cooled indicating that the main ingredient was corn starch, with soy sauce thrown in for some flavor. I would suggest that anyone who rates this food above two stars probably has a limited frame of reference or experience with Chinese food. First time dining at this restaurant and decided to dine in. Had to place order and pay at the front desk before sitting down. Dining area was small and accompanied by a family relative and their baby. Six tables for dining and then two cribs for the baby. The buffet set up(not in use for food) had silverware and extra supplies piled on top. Food came out fast and was at best ok. If you want to go for Chinese in West Bend this is the best place around. Their egg foo young is very good and so is the shrimp chop suey.

"Save your money" resturant under new ownership and the food quality and taste has gone downhill. I would save my money and eat somewhere else. The order was wrong and when i called to rectify the situation the owner does not speak any English. Red flags should have gone up when I went in to pick up my order because another customer was in with his entire order and stated that the sesame chicken was so bad that nobody in the family could eat it. I just placed an order for carry out for lunch and the service was very good and fast. I took the food home and when I dug in all the food was hot and fresh and very, very good. I have been coming here for takeout since I moved to West Bend about 8 years ago and I have never had an issue with the food, or service not one time. Extremely upset, I called 5 minutes ago to place an order for take out. I was told by the person that answered the phone that I would have to come in and place the order. When I asked why he would not take my order I was told that they had orders "stacked" and were very busy. I asked why I should have to wait there when I could wait at home and he stated "we don't deliver". I told him I wanted to place the order on the phone, wait at home, then pick it up. He told me that they would have a mobile app in place at the end of the month and he would be happy to sign me up for it. What good is the end of the month app when I want food tonight. This is the first time I had ever been treated by them like that. The most ridiculous thing I have ever encountered. They may be "stacked" with orders tonight but if they keep treating people like this, they won't stay busy for long. Extremely disappointed! read more
