Updated 1.1.26: My first review for the new year of 2026 and it's a long one, lol. We chose to have our annual new year dinner at the Chinook again and had easily made reservations for 5pm through their website. When we arrived, we were greeted and sat immediately. It didn't look too busy at all, maybe less than quarter-full. I have to preface by saying despite the handful of mishaps that went against our server, Felix, throughout our dinner, he powered through and provided outstanding service. It was Felix's awesome service and friendliness that saved our dinner. Felix was very thorough with explaining everything and even showed us the monthly specials they were featuring. He did apologize and informed us that one of the specials, the Half Cornish Hen, was not available at the moment as someone accidentally dropped the pan of hens forcing them to start over. Luckily, none of us had our heart set out on the cornish hen. He then took our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. Meanwhile, they brought us out warm bread and soft whipped butter and it was a nice start to our dinner. For appetizers, we ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Stack and the Cast Iron Ancho Chili Cornbread. While waiting for our apps, Felix let us know that the kitchen burnt our cornbread and we had to wait for another batch. The shrimp on the other hand, was really great which we had before so at least that was consistent. When the cornbread finally arrived, it looked very well-done and on the brink of almost burnt, but it was actually really tasty and the top had a light crunch to it. For my entree, I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass. Instead of a salad that usually comes with it, I opted for the soup de jour, which was a Seafood Bouillabaisse. My sea bass came with a seasonal vegetable, which was brussel sprouts. I didn't mind because I'm one of few who actually like brussel sprouts, unlike the other two guests I was with lol. The other two, both ordered the Filet Mignon. They knew they didn't want their veggies, so we ordered a sharable side of the Smashed Fried Red Potatoes. However, Felix informed us they ran out of red potatoes the evening before. So instead, we ordered the Garlic Mashed Potatoes. One of the other guests ordered a cup of chili, however, Felix informed us they were out of chili that night. The cup of Seafood Bouillabaisse was outstanding and loaded with medium-sized shrimp, baby clams, and chunks of fish. The broth was light and water-based versus a heavy cream base I'm used to seeing and having. So even with the mishaps and waiting as is, it took quite some time for our entrees to arrive. Felix even came by and told us they were still waiting on one of the filets. When our entrees finally did arrive, one of the two filets were barely warm. So that was disappointing after all that waiting. My Chilean Sea Bass was phenomenal, cooked perfectly, and had the best sear on it. It had a thin top layer of yummy tender crisp, with tender fish meat, and accompanied with a delicious lemon herb sauce. I was very pleased with my sea bass choice. Although we didn't get our first choice of the red smashed potatoes, the garlic mashed potatoes were reported to be really great. I don't eat meat and it came with bacon on it. So that's that. For dessert, we ordered a couple of the creme brulees and the Baked Alaska. The creme brulee was really good--the custard was light and creamy versus the last one I had at Beverly's, which was dense and heavy. Both were good, it just depends what texture you prefer. The carmelized sugar top had a good taste and tap to it. The show stopper though, was the Baked Alaska. It's a chocolate sponge cake with vanilla ice cream on top then covered in meringue. When it was brought to our table, Felix lit the skillet on fire and it baked the meringue. It was fun to watch and it tasted fantastic. Again despite all the mishaps during dinner, Felix was an amazing server and the food we did eat was really great. The manager even comped our desserts, which was super nice and something they didn't have to offer. Every restaurant has its off night's and we won't let this one time keep us away. We'll be back for Felix's outstanding service! read more

After attending a concert at the casino, we dined at Chinook. We did have reservations, but considering how late it was, we probably didn't need them. We were quickly greeted by the hostess and seated. Our server was sweet and on top of everything. We did end up partaking in their Restaurant Week special; and it was delicious. Our dining experience began with a warm loaf of bread and garlic compound butter--both were yummy. My husband and I both had the scallop appetizer, which was very tasty, but one single large scallop. Our main courses were different; I had the sea bass and my husband had the steak that was served with a butter tallow candle to enhance the experience. I was a little surprised the main course was just a simple protein with a sauce and lacked sides. The meal ended with dessert; I had the white chocolate mousse and my husband had the huckleberry crepe. Both were a delight. We also both enjoyed the dark manhattan to drink. The staff was professional and warm; the atmosphere was inviting and nicely decorated. Overall it was a lovely experience and we look forward to returning. read more

My husband and I were staying at the hotel for a few days, and decided to try the Chinook fine dining. We were overwhelmed with the professional friendly treatment we received from everyone on the team including Jayden and Leilani as the managers. The cozy rustic vibe was set apart by amazing tribal artistic touches. We were treated so well that we decided to go back every night. The culinary options on their menu were unique and impressive. They even made customized items for me that wasn't on the menu! On our last night there, Jaden went above and beyond to write a thank you card on behalf of the whole team! Absolutely disgusting. Have had some bad meals in my life but have never asked to not be charged for what we were given until tonight. They had another gig going on in a side room that was getting all the attention. The servers were stressed and spread thin. Sat for 30 minutes before anyone even came to ask how we were doing, thank god they brought bread cuz that was dinner for us. We will not go back and we will spread the word. Food was fast, maybe too fast, like it might have been under a warmer waiting for us. Salmon was over cooked, prime rib was decent. Service was excellent, friendly and knew the menu very well! The food has been below expectations for a supposedly above average restaurant It was Sunday and we made a reservation, yet they could not seat us because they are waiting for customers to leave and the center of the restaurant, all the tables were available. It took quite awhile for our food to be ready. The baked salmon were over baked, so they were pretty dry and served with three very skinny and small carrots, like they were not ready for the picking . Length of a woman's index finger but half the size. We first hear about them from a tv show and I was impressed that why we didn't dine there before. We were impressed then but the past year, I noticed the standard of food has lowered, more like those diners of lower end quality food. Although the ambience is fine, but I sure hope they keep the quality of their food as they advertise them to be . I still have hope that one day soon, they get more qualified chefs In fact their other restaurant, Redtail, serves better cooked food. read more

We came here for the clams, one of our friends had came in for dinner and he recommended them. Also order their pasta was also good the prawns where a great size and very tasty. The sauce also had a great flavor. Service was great the lady was super fun and helpful with all our questions. It was a nice Restaurant great sittings and lots of room in the table. The menus where also on iPads. This is located inside a casino so parking is everywhere. And it's a cool spot to have dinner and after hit some machines. read more

I really wanted to give this place five stars, I am in town from California visiting my son, and we had high hopes for this place after visiting the casino. Menu option seem great, however side dishes lack desire. My son got the $69 rib eye and it came out cooked wrong but it was ok. I got the 8oz New York and it was good. The issue was the sides, do not get the horseradish mashed potatoes, they were gooey and sticky like thy had been sitting for hours and the menu shows asparagus however we got the carrots, and they were extremely undercooked. I had a wedge and it was the best part of the night. The basket of bread came out cold, the butter that's served with the bread was my absolute favorite. A ton of people had player rewards so I think that's how this place stays in business. The quality and price of the food is to be desired. My daughter and I decided to try hinook for their pasta. We both had fettuccine, I had the chicken and she had the seafood. The chicken had no flavor and the sauce was the worst I have ever had. We had a party of 9 which the casino automatically places the tip on your bill, but we were patient. Although it took a while for the food to arrive, when it did 2 meals where cold, 3 of the prime ribs where overcooked and my prime rib was so tough that only half of it could be eaten and the other half became dog food. We had a wonderful meal here this week. The lodge is so special and we were there during the first snowfall. All staff was excellent. We had lobster, filet mignon and rib eye. The meals were all cooked to perfection. The accompaniments were table bread, choice of potato Or pasta and salad. The three of us very much so enjoyed our meals and the environment here. I had a 7:30 reservation, and they had a table ready for us at 7:15. The waitstaff was pleasant and the atmosphere was comfortable. I loved their house white wine blend. Not too sweet, and definitely not oaky or dry. The smoked mashed potatoes are amazing, and I loved the crisp, fresh flavors of the Northwest salad. My issues with the restaurant are: 1. two different employees used profanities during the course of interacting with me: GD and sh*t. One was the GENERAL MANAGER! It doesn't upset my sensibilities at all. But if you're a "classy" steakhouse, know your audience. 2. My steak was overdone. I asked for medium well and got well done. I was not offered an apology or a new steak. Nor was any courtesy offered at the time of the bill. However, I felt what I ate was reasonable for the price, and these problems wouldn't prevent me from returning if I'm ever in the area again. read more

A group of us needed a place to eat while at that casino, so we stopped by here. Service staff was good. Everyone was friendly. The food was a bit underwhelming. We had some pasta, the pork loin, Caesar salad and French onion soup. Not sure anyone really talked highly about the food. It was ok but we were hoping for a bit more. The soup was not really that good and it didn't even have the melted cheese that I've always had with French onion soup. The pasta dishes were not great and the pork loin dish was also just so so. This was a great surprise. I wanted to splurge a bit and try the steakhouse, as I'm not too much of a gambler, and my dad loves steaks. He had the classic cut sirloin $17 for 6oz, and I had the 3 steak sampler (sirloin, wagyu skirt steak, filet mignon for $29. What is great about this place is that the main entree comes with "pop-overs", (bread like thing), soup or salad, vegetable and starch. Most Spokane steak restaurants make you order it all separately. The Elk Stew with rosemary dumplings was an awesome surprise (chosen as soup). I could have eaten just that with the pop-over. Even the veggies (I am not a veggie eater) were delicious. The only negative was that my steaks were all overcooked (I asked for Med and it was barely pink and mostly brown). I cut in to check at first and said it was ok, since I saw pink, but it was not after starting to eat... I mentioned it to the server later on, and she said I should have sent it back. I'm not the kind to send it back - so I just had her box most of it up. She was nice, but I thought this kind of place would have given some sort of discount, or free dessert or something. Oh well. The filet mignon, even though overcooked, was excellent. The flavors in the steak were great. The 3 types of sea salt on the table were also a nice touch. I had a glass of the Townsend Vortex wine, which was also great. Other than the one negative, this place had a good vibe, and was pretty full for a Wednesday evening. I saw others having the tableside prep service with the Porterhouse, and it looked cool. It was a modern looking place, not like a Churchill's or something. You could either dress up (suits were there) or dress down (casino casual), and fit in. Everyone was friendly, not snobby. Also, my dad gobbled up the entire meal, and said it was great. He likes his steak well done, and he ordered it med well. So, I'd advise ordering on the rare side of what you want. I would definitely come here again, as there was a bunch of stuff I want to still try! I was also impressed with the good pricing and good ambiance. Could be a date night, or just a casino whim. This restaurant is located at the Couerdelene Casino. Our waitress was friendly. Ordered Chicken Alfredo & Chicken Parmigiana. Neither order was good. The manager came by & asked me how our food was, I wanted to say have you ate this but I said not good! So we didn't have to pay for our dinner, which is nice. Food was marginal at best. In the northwest, you'd expect the kitchen to respect salmon. The piece served to me was bizarrely overcooked on the top, (though not browned) while nearly raw underneath. Honestly, it was the worst cooked salmon I've ever had. The rice pilaf seemed like it was packaged Uncle Ben's. Overall, it was the kind of meal one might expect at a buffet restaurant. Also, I ordered from a price fixe menu and each course was served before I had time to finish the previous one. The dessert was served, with ice cream, almost immediately after the salmon. The ice cream had melted by the time I finished pushing the salmon and rice around my plate. The crab cake appetizers were decent, but not enough to make up for the salmon. Ts'elusm takes a creative approach to great food. I started with the Chef's Cheese Platter, chose the Steak Sampler as my main entree, and finished with the Tableside "N20" Ice Cream. Everything tasted wonderful and the waitstaff was very friendly. The platter featured very generous portions and the sampler was a great match for my indecisiveness. I asked our waitress for a wine recommendation and she suggested a glass of the Columbia Crest H3 Merlot (2008). Absolutely loved it and have since bought a few bottles online. The preparation of different dishes created a unique experience. The waitress used liquid nitrogen to create the ice cream in front of us. Possible ingredients include the typical strawberry and chocolate but expand into cayenne pepper and Jack Daniel's whiskey. You'll be skeptical at first but the flavors pair unexpectedly well. Someone at my table ordered the Caesar salad and the preparation was also tableside: all ingredients added and mixed right there (including the traditional raw egg). Given the amount of interaction with the customers, experience is especially important. Our waitress was incredibly friendly but poorly trained and had some trouble. I feel our waitress's bare hands touched more food than appropriate. Many ingredients from the salad (raw egg, lemon juice, etc.) were all over her hands before entering the bowl. I watched a different waiter who worked with the ingredients with greater finesse. I know Ts'elusm is a steak house but I was disappointed by their vegetarian options. One in our party was a vegetarian and the *only* entree option is salad. The side dishes can compliment the salad but the risotto could hardly be called risotto (it was a different dish altogether) and the macaroni & cheese tasted like it was bought at Safeway and nuked in the microwave. The cocktail was boring and tasted like a simple berry Italian soda with mint leaves so plentiful and big that it made drinking it nearly impossible. Despite it's lower points, I was impressed. The three steaks in my sampler were very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Given the cheap prices (especially compared to my last steakhouse experience at Ruth's Chris), I think it's a good option, especially for a date where the interactive tableside setting would add a fun dimension to dinner. read more

Ok, from the outside sign, it looks like it's going to be really nice high quality steakhouse and that's what the star is for. We walked in on a dead Thursday night and with over half the restaurant empty were told they wouldn't have room for 20 more minutes. We chose to sit at the bar instead of waiting. I ordered the chicken Alfredo and he ordered a filet, the chicken was moist but unfortunately his steak was over cooked. This felt like something served with less quality than Golden Corral, certainly not what was expected after a $100 bill. The manager proceeded to question the bar tender during her dinner shift out in the bar in front of everyone over an earlier incident with a patron. Let the lady do her job and earn some money! Discuss business matters when appropriate. I would be embarrassed having my name on a restaurant serving this type of food, we aren't at Granny's Buffet. The only thing quality was the company that joined me, not for us, we won't be back. read more

STEAKHOUSE IS NOW PERMANTANTLY CLOSED! First I will explain that I have heard a lot of hype on this Steakhouse. In the end, it was all hype. Last night my wife and I visited this Steakhouse located inside of the Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort. The end result is I wished we would have waited to make it to Coeur d'Alene and visit the Wolf Lodge Steakhouse located about 10 miles east of CDA. We both ordered the Ribeye steaks. The menu stated that the steak is seasoned and cooked over a fire with wood smoke. The steaks actually tasted like they had been pan seared and then tossed on gas grill to add grill marks to the steak. The steak itself was OK and cooked to the correct temperatue but not worth the $23.00 each. The baked potato was way overcooked to the point that the skin could not be cut with the steak knife. When I brought it to the waitresses attention she just made a bad excuse that is how they cook them intentionally. The bread that was served with the meal was oily in the middle. Once we added the butter it was a pretty good mess on our fingers. It did have a nice flavor though so I considered it acceptable, but nothing I would write to anyone about. Now I have been very critical of this establishment, I have to tell you the highlight of our meals was the salads. My wife had the Fresh Iceburg Lettuce salad. She said It was very good. A larger portion would have been nice but she really liked the Ranch dressing. I had the Baby Field Greens with Blue Cheese dressing. That salad was to die for. Their dressing was creamy but not to thick and coated the salad well and enhanced the Blue Cheese crumbles very well. I had never thought of adding finely sliced apples to a Blue Cheese salad but it worked wonderfully together. I can tell you honestly that if I had it all to do again and we had to eat there we would eat in the Sweet Grass Cafe inside the Casino and have the Chicken Fried Steak dinner instead. Had dinner here last night with our friends. Neither of us had eaten here before. We had amazing Washington wines but our food was disappointing! My wife and I each had steak. I had Ribeye she had the fillet. Neither steak had any flavor at all. Our friend had the halibut and it had an over seasoned crust that made it so salty you couldn't eat that part. We are not picky people and I really don't like leaving negative reviews but come on it's a 40$ plate it should be amazing. The service was good but fell short on the food. read more

Had heard they had really good food so decided to give it a try. Well let's start with the salad I ordered a ceasar , it came with ranch so I asked if this was their normal they said no and corrected it. The ceasar salad I now got was very heavy with garlic not correct for a ceasar I didn't like it but to be fair I don't care for things that are over done with garlic. We ordered the rib eye steak 2 of us i ordered mine medium and my friend ordered his rare. Neither was even close mine was a little less than rare and his was not even seemed. No flavor tasted like little liquid smoke and that's it. Neither of us had more than a few bites. When the waiter finally came back with our bill never checked back before then asked how our meal was we told him not great and he could have cared less. The potatoes were terible also but it went along with the meal. U would not recommend this place. Who ever is in charge should be replaced if they can't get the food or service correct no hope. read more

This is actually a great place to eat especially if you go for more then just their great salmon chowder. I'm not sure what Katie h was talking about especially since the chinook has never been open on a Tuesday . So no wonder the food was bad sorry I have no clue where you got it from! We live nearby and eat here a 3 or 4 times a year. We have always enjoyed the food here. The salads are excellent. Very fresh and creative. I have steak usually and they have always been very good. We enjoyed this casino restaurant very much two years ago. Very disappointed when we arrived here at the casino hotel and learned Ts'elusm is closed. Replaced by a more casual restaurant. that is closed on Mondays (so can't tell you how it is but the menu does not look interesting). My experience at the Ts'elusm Steakhouse was one I will never forget! The staff was so friendly and accommodating, and the atmosphere was perfect for the night. The food was excellent, with a very broad menu for me to choose from. I got the Filet Mignon with the Bordelaise sauce, which really made the steak. My boyfriend got the Lobster Taill and couldn't stop talking about how fresh it was. Along with a few glasses of our favorite wine (it was hard to choose just one from the list!), Ts'elusm really went above my expectations, and I can't wait to go back. read more

I stayed at the casino for Christmas and wanted to have a nice dinner at someplace other than the buffet. I had heard how good this place was at a steakhouse before it was changed to Chinook. The chef is revered as "award winning". On the holiday menu was a salad, an appetizer and prime sirloin. We ordered the appetizer for $13. Pan seared bay scallop fritta with crustini and seared romaine lettuce. This was our first mistake. The scallops were the size of my pinky and there was about a 1/4 cup. The crustini was bread fanned and burnt on top but not toasted in the middle. Way overpriced!!! I ordered baked chicken. It was overcooked and served on a piece of burnt wood (I am no sure how this is sanitized for reuse, if it is) inside of some type of baking pan. The pan was warped on the bottom and spun as I tried to eat. This dish came with smoky mashed potatoes and a dish of gravy. There was obviously excessive liquid smoke used and along with the burnt wood the smoky smell was overwhelming. The side dish of gravy was cold. My brother had a steak and the same potatoes. His complaint that everything tasted overly smoky. Everything was overpriced. My suggestion is to eat at the Sweetgrass or somewhere other than the casino if you don't like buffets. read more
