If you want an example of why Chipotle is failing, come to this location. Wait time was 20 minutes - they take the 'fast' out of 'fast casual.' They do maybe a quarter of the correct sized portions and I shouldn't ever have to ask for more. The consistent portion amounts I always used to get several years ago is now nonexistent (why yes I want more than a tiny two finger pinch of lettuce, cheese, and sauce). They forgot the meat this visit on one burrito, when I asked about it, they threw a half spoonful of the meat that ended up get scattered all over, and when they folded it up, more fell out, so I was left with barely any meat, and my jaw dropped. They take online orders during prime dining hours without alternating between people in line that only want 1-2 things. 40 minutes to get a burrito with only 6 people before me? Absurd. I don't want to give any stars! Why can't the line workers at this location change their freaking gloves? I once watched a line worker run outside to give a customer their forgotten sauce, come back in, drop his keys on the floor and not change his gloves or wash his hands! Today the employee who was working the line grabbed a bunch of napkins and wiped his sweaty forehead, then grabbed a few more napkins and did it again. No hand washing, no glove change, just put his icky hands back in the cheese and lettuce! Seriously are they rationing the gloves? Do you just get one pair a shift? Honestly, what do you expect when you're at home and planning on going to chipotle? Because I just want to say I work there, and everyday I work my stress levels are too high. Most of the days I work I get 5-10 people who complain just to get free food, another portion complaining about how the line is too long -the line usually comes in "bulk" meaning that there will be no line at all, and then all of a sudden A line going out the door- Also I work on cash A lot of the time but I do work on the line for rolling burritos. You don't have to be rude to the worker simply because you're not mad at the worker, you're mad that you have been waiting for A period of time. When I'm on the cash register, I have to manage my time as wisely as possible, I'm the one who has to (obviously) complete the customers order in the line, take the name of the order for the online and grabs it from the back, and also clean the lobby. I'm really curious. When you come to chipotle (the one in apple valley) what do you expect? And I've seen some reviews that say our store is filled with too many teenagers.? like are you really going to complain about that at A FAST FOOD restaurant? I live in Bloomington and we went to a movie in Apple Valley. I wanted to run into Chipotle - my husband had gotten food somewhere else so I figured I'd run in and out. The line was soooooo slow - took 20 minutes to even order. My kids were in the car with my husband who's food was getting cold. I know to never visit this Apple Valley location again. Easily the worst chipotle in the twin cities. There's always long lines, the service is always awful, and the restaurant is dirty. Every time I've been to the Apple Valley location there's always 3 or 4 people in the back that seem to be doing nothing or flat out messing around not doing work while 2, maybe 3 people are slowly working the line. Today I flat out gave up after watching some clown attempt to clean one of the tortilla heaters for the 5th time before offering to take my order, oh wait, no one offered to take my order (after a 20+ minute wait in line). I don't know what the management is up to at that location but they are clearly not doing their job as the rest of their team constantly fail to perform at theirs. I find that the one star is too high of a rating! Corporate should come in and fire every last one of the clowns working at this location. read more

I love chipotle but my last few orders were very disappointing. The wait is always 20 minutes or more and if I'm going to wait that long I want it to be good! I am paying EXTRA for guacamole and there is barley any guacamole on my Bowl! The few chunks I did have were unflavored chunks of avocado not guacamole and it wasn't even ripe! It was clearly yellow. I used online ordering for the first time. I picked the AV Chipolte as the location. Went to go pick it up and they didn't have any order in my name and there was another person waiting and they didn't have that person's order either. They said that happens a lot, the orders will go to the Eagan or Burnsville location and that was that. They said they would make the order now (it was for 3 different people and the main reason I used online ordering was I didn't have time to wait thus the reason I used it). This the worst chipotle I have ever been too, and I have been to many. It's not the food(I LOVE their product) it's the service. Regardless of the time of day this location is unable to handle any sort of volume. Plan on standing in line if you choose to stop by this location. I have expressed dissatisfaction in the past via their site, and did receive a coupon, but in the end its not about the free burrito, its about better management of the store. At Christmas time they ran out of gift cards the days before Christmas. How do you run out of cards during one of your best sales times of year? You should have hundreds if not thousands of these onsite all the time. Poor store management. If you choose to attend this restaurant, my recommendation would be to call in your order, but be sure to give them plenty of time to put it together. read more

Ok, first of all let me say every chipotle I've ever been too, has long lines, and yes I get that your job probably isn't your dream job, and you don't really care for say, BUT, EVERY TIME I go to this place, something goes wrong. We've all been there waiting awkwardly in line when something runs out and your waiting for them to make more of what ever you're waiting for, but I'm sorry, if I'm waiting for 15 mins (yes, I have a watch and I watched the time) for home slice walking around in the back getting yelled at THREE DIFFERENT TIMES to cut up the dam chicken, then I'm going to be like "dude wtf give me the knife and I'll cut the shit, just to give me and other ppl in line some peace" So instead of cutting up the chicken, he makes more white rice, fine that's ok, that is a popular item and I get it, but as I'm watching him dump the big bowl of rice into the smaller container the food always goes in, he uses his shirt as a wall so the rice went into the small metal bucket and not on the floor...so all the white rice was contaminated from his dirty apron, in which now everyone is eating and is also eating whatever was on the front of his dirty AF apron.... They then remade my order because it was sitting out too long, but after me seeing the rice touch that dudes shirt I was so disgusted I didn't even want to eat what I ordered, it always makes me wonder do ppl think others won't notice that shit??... also the last couple times I've been there, if you order a burrito they just slide your burrito tortilla through all the slop that's caking up on the surface of the table top that they hardly ever clean, hence why I always get bowls. I am from Apple valley, but in CA. When I googled Chipotle it gave me the wrong info so I ended up calling this location at 8:25pm California time (10:25pm Minnesota time). The lady answered the phone very rudely I was taken back, I said yes hi can I please place an order to go. She the said "we don't do phone orders and we are closed" I said "oh I'm sorry google says your open until 10" she tells me that it is ten and I'm like huh? So i have been to this Chipotle and ill never go back unless they change their workers. Chipotle is my all time favorite so when i go there i expect to have a good experience. I went with my young daughter and the ladies preparing my food were so rude when I was asking for an extra side. Huffing and throwing my food in the bag. Like at least they should smile. I cannot believe how slow this place is!! They need to hire a whole new crew. Managers hiding in the back when they should be helping with the line. Lines are out the door everytime and be prepared to wait 30-45 mins. Staff is unprepared and doesn't communicate with the cooks. This chipotle location (AppleValley) needs serious help. Out of any chipotle I've ever visited, this is by far the slowest and least organized I've encountered. The management is nonexistent and the employee situation needs to be overhauled. Theres no communication between the kitchen and the line. They dont tell the kitchen staff that they're out of something until it's completely gone. Amazingly, they still manage to keep the customer line moving at a snail's pace considering how understaffed they are. One person on the line, one at the register, and one cooking is unacceptable. The food is usually as good as it is at any location so there aren't many complaints there but the management obviously can't hire or keep good employees. They also seem incapable of managing the team that they do have. Poor management is what's keeping this locations rating so ridiculously low. 64% one star reviews at the time of this writing. Chipotle corporate needs to step in. read more

My 8 year old son has a hard time ordering food due to a speech and processing disorder. It was dinner time and crazy busy but Zee let my son order his meal and took the extra time listening to him. She didn't rush him which was fantastic because the added pressure could make it more difficult for him to get his order out. He was so proud of himself after he ordered on his own! Let's start off by saying I LOVE chipotle. Their food is always fresh and hands down the best you can buy for under 10 dollars that's a quick to go meal. I travel for work and chipotle is usually my lunch of choice if one is near. Unfortunately, the apple valley location is the closest to my home and happens to be the slowest one I've ever been to. If there is a line plan to set up a tent because it's going to be a while. Please save yourself some time and avoid this location. I have never experienced service so terrible. You will easily wait in line anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour, even at 8pm on a Sunday night. It has nothing to do with how busy they are; the employees are just flat out lazy. They will start working on someone's burrito, then stop to walk around and chat with another employee, while that person's food just sits there and there's a line out the door. One woman was waiting for 2 cups of salsa, which had run out. Instead of immediately getting a new container, an employee started scraping the sides of the empty container with a spoon while laughing because nothing was coming out. She finally (after WAY too long) said "Just kidding, I should probably get a new one." while again, there is a line out the door. Once I had paid, I actually had to grab my food from around the counter and bag it myself because the cashier was daydreaming. It's completely ridiculous. I have worked food service and I get how demanding and exhausting it is, but it is still your JOB and you need to actually do your job while at work. read more

I have been to this location many times. For the most part the line is always long and the wait is anywhere from 10 mins to 20 mins. On Sat 2/4/16 I decided to wise up and order online. I placed my order at 8:30 pm and the next available pick up time was 9 pm. I was a little disappointed with this pick up time but I thought it would be better than standing in line, potentially out in the cold. So I arrived a few mins past 9 pm. I went to straight to the register where no one acknowledge me. I was trying to be polite to the other people who where being rung up. after watching 3-4 different people being rung up I finally moved closer and spoke up and said that I had placed an online order, the cashier asked for my name and what time my pick up was and I told him 9 pm. By this time it was 9:05 pm. The cashier ran to the back, I believe looking for my order. He then came back to the register empty handed and pulled my order off the the printer and brought it to my beginning of the line. I watched him start to make my order...as I watched I began to see how filthy the store was, specifically the area that were the food was being made. I watched the young man call back to the cook and request a number of different items that were low. One of the items being black beans. I had ordered black beans...I watched the young man scrape an overabundance of black bean juice on to my burrito bowl. I was hoping for the best. Finally my burrito bowl was done and placed near the register. The woman ringing up people almost mistakenly gave my food away twice. She finally decided to acknowledge me and I told her that it was mind. She then told me to wait a min(as if I hadn't been waiting for almost over 10 mins already). She came back from the where ever with a one hundred 1 dollars bills fanned over her face and proceeded to way them around as to put a show and then said this doesn't seem to be 100 dollars. I was beside myself at this point. She then rang me up and starred at me for 30 seconds and I asked if i was good to go and she said yes. No thank you, no thank you for waiting....nothing. Needless to say I will never return to this store again.By the time I left the store it was 9:18 PM And to top it off my burrito bowl and chips were cold and my burrito bowl did not taste good at all. This store needs an overhaul with staff. Someone should be accountable for online orders instead of having to go through that I had to. I will take my money somewhere else. Lesson learned. read more

It's sad. The only reason I opened an account on Yelp was because of the Apple Valley Chipotle. This location used to be spectacular for service and food quality. It is extremely apparent that the current owner/management no longer care. They don't have to care because on a continuous basis they have a line out the door. However in time this will come to bite them in the butt. Where to start... Last night like most nights. Line out the door. 2:45pm, sign on door says out of black beans sorry for inconvenience. Last week it as chicken and the week before that it was cheese. I literally witnessed 8 people leave rather than wait in line or go with out black beans. 2:56pm, in the door. As usual the first thing I always do is look up at the ventilation grates. For as long as I can remember they have not been cleaned. The dust is so thick on them it looks like grey cotton. Guy 1 slowly, heating tortilla, ricing, beaning, meating passes to Guy 2 who slowly salsa's, sour-creams, cheeses and wraps. Absolutely no sense of urgency or hustle. 3:10pm As you get closer to the make line you can see the vents over the food. I keep an eye on them because if I see any of that muck fall into the make line I'm aborting this mission. I notice there are no bags of chips on the chip rack. So no chips for dinner. 3:20pm online customer comes in to pick up food. They haven't made it yet. At a snails pace they fill the order. 3:30pm... Wife always orders a fajita bowl. Sorry mam no fajita veggies for at least 5 minutes. Seriously... So... on a bowl that she usually gets black beans and fajita veggies she has to go without. Guy 1 plates our food and passes to guy 2 who has disappeared. After looking around he is off the side drinking his pop and sending a text. After he finished he comes over and salsa's our bowls and passes them to the cashier. 3:40pm... food is paid for, short of black beans, fajita veggies and chips. VERY disappointing. I will never go here again. I'll go to El Azteca instead. read more

When the store first opened, we were so excited, and the food service, provided mostly by latino men and women, was outstanding. This attention to good service has increasingly diminished over the years to the point where I don't think it can get worse. We have taken breaks from Chipotle, disgusted by the experience, only to try again and be disappointed all over again. I don't remember the last time I was in the restaurant when they weren't out of at least one kind of meat. No one cares to keep up with the food. No one says hello or even responds to a customer trying to thank an employee. The line that used to cruise now goes so slow it would take an amazing product to make the wait worthwhile, and that product no longer exists there. Food sits around too long, the lettuce is limp, even the portions have been reduced. We have even had our orders mixed up two times and have had to drive all the way back. read more

I waited in line for 20 minutes while the employees lolly-gagged and took their sweet time, all the while my food sat on the counter getting cold! I decided to try this location because the location where we usually frequent served us cold burritos at one time. By the time I left the Apple Valley Chipotle, the line was out the door! My advice would be to visit the Eagan location(s) instead. I've never had such terrible customer service! What in the hell is wrong with these employees? Me and my fiance went here around 6:30 PM, EXCITED because for once the line wasn't out the door. We were about 4th in line and waited for about 10 minutes before they even got one guy checked out and the others moving. About another 5 minutes we get to the fricking tortilla station. Tell me why every time I told them what I wanted I had to REPEAT myself (one of my biggest pet peeve's). I also ordered a large CHICKEN quesadilla for our kids. As a random person comes out of nowhere and starts putting cheese on the tortilla and starts to fold it I am already a bit irritated because I am tired and hungry, so I ask him "are you going to put chicken on that or nah?" He clearly wasn't forwarded the message that I had ordered a CHICKEN quesadilla. At the register, this girl seems to have just got off the short bus. Why do I have to explain twice which burritos are mine? Thanks lady, she finally got them into the bag but I still needed a side of guac and chips. MUCH to my and I am sure anyone else's surprise, she say's " we're out of chips, we only have the little bags." But how is that "out of chips?" How about you give me a bunch of the kids bags then, pour them into a big bag, I don't care but I ordered chips and technically you're not out...!! She puts a few little bags of CHIPS they weren't really "out of" in the bag. By this time I just want to bury my face in my hands, my anxiety is just saying lets get the hell out of here before I start throwing black beans. Give me an extra cup for "water" and I'm filling it with root beer I don't even care right now. Time to walk out the door. DON'T TOUCH THE HANDLES if you can help it, not entirely sure that place has ever been cleaned properly. We get inside our house and my kids are asking for their shit right? Because kids LOVE waiting that long for anything.... I pull out that large "chicken" quesadilla and what do you know. NO CHICKEN. I believe I asked for chicken 2 or 3 times? How incompetent does one have to be to be hired at Chipotle in Apple Valley, MN? The employees look like zombies who take frequent bathroom breaks to snap chat mirror selfies to friends. I would give this place zero stars if I could. It is horribly managed. I did the online order. Was told my order would be ready for pickup at 6:30. I showed up and the girl looked at me as if I had a third eye when I asked for my order. She mumbled something and said it would be ready soon. At 6:45 I asked again about my order and she looked at me as if I was speaking Swahili. Said she would reprint the order. I then proceeded to explain to her the concept behind online ordered. She looked as if I asked her the square root of 39,149,543. When I asked for a manager, one was not available. So I just walked out. There were also about 7 other people who did the online order waiting as well. This store is so poorly run. A month ago there were easily 30-40 flies flying around the grill and food. It was disgusting. No wonder this chain had an e coli breakout or whatever it was. The manager needs to be fired first off and the idiots behind the counter educated. Chipotle use to be an excellent place to eat 4 or 5 years ago when the staff in all Chipotles were mostly Latino. The quality of food and service was great. Not sure what happened but the Latinos all disappeared and were replaced by idiot non-latinos. Now I rarely go anymore except when I get a gift card.
