My wife and I went to the location, now I showed the guy wanted I wanted from a previous order I did via Ubereats but from another location. This guy did my sandwich like he was scared to touch the ingredients. I could the grilled chicken, not many. The lettuce was worse, so little, then the onions were just strings. Close and convenient location. The service can be hit or miss. My recent visits have been ok. Lunch is always busy. I've still had to wait when arriving at or after the scheduled pickup time. Let me just say this is a hidden gem only on the East Coast that I wish was all over lol. I started my trip with Potbelly and ended my trip with Potbelly. I love the sandwich meals which I think are affordable and filling. I had the turkey sandwich meal which was only $7.99. Then the receipt had an option to do a survey for a free cookie. I had the double chocolate chip cookie which was moist and good. On my out of DC I grabbed a meal to go to eat on the plane and it was just as good. People on the plane asked me where it came from lol. The ambiance of the restaurant is a sandwich shop but clean and nice. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. Walking in felt like I was struck with a heat wave. It was really hot and stuffy probably because of the open oven design. The ceiling fan did nothing but to circulate the hot air. Came here mainly to finish up on some work. Wifi strength was pretty good. There is a decent amount of seating (see pics). But the tables were sticky. There are also a few tables outside. The staff were not particular friendly and random times they would just start shouting. Eh decent spot in DC for working out of. Can't say I would come back. read more

I had lunch there today and the service and food met all expectations of what makes Potbelly's a great sandwich shop. I wished I would have asked for the young lady's name who was working at the cash register, because she was extremely nice and helpful. I asked for a cup to get tap water and due to her concerns for the quality of DC's tap water, which I can relate to, she told me to get a bottle of water on them, which was very thoughtful and nice to witness. I would give negative stars if I could. I ordered a farmhouse salad through the mobile app, but instead, I was given a bowl of shredded lettuce. I have attached pictures of both for reference. When I requested a refund, I was told that one was issued, but I never received it. I had to dispute the transaction with my bank. This is the closest Potbelly from my office and I actually go there often for lunch. Most of the time, I have the Power house salad which has grilled chicken breast, baby spinach, cherry tomatoes, very little avocado, hummus, chopped boiled egg. It is my favorite. Heartwarming experience today! I walked back from a meeting today and stopped at Potbelly to get my favorite milkshake! As I was there, an unhoused woman came in and was rummaging through the trash. The manager of the place asked her if she could make her a sandwich and the woman shook her head yes. She kept going through the trash but then left. The manager gave the sandwich to one of the employees who did one of those jump-and-slide-over-the-counter moves and he ran down the street to give her the sandwich. However, I would avoid this location during the lunch rush because they clearly cannot handle to-go orders on top of the normal crowd. When I finally got my order it was 20 minutes past my pickup time given when I ordered it...and to top it off, my order was wrong. Instead of complaining about the order I just ate it because I didn't know how long it would take to remake it! I ordered the chicken mozzarella flatbread without the balsamic sauce. However, they didn't bother to read my request and still included it. The sandwich was tasty aside from being drenched in the sauce. I also tried the chili which was good but less appealing after watching them pour it from a plastic bag...I guess I wanted to feel like it was a bit more homemade than that but I shouldn't be surprised these days. The chocolate brownie cookie was delicious and definitely the best part of the entire meal and it was free! I went with colleagues during the lunch rush, so we had to wait in a line, but like all Potbelly's, this store keeps the line from interfering with the door or seating. There isn't much seating at this location, with only a couple tables and rail bar seating the length of the narrow shop. I got a classic turkey sandwich, so nothing special, but the bread was toasted to a pleasant crunch and the cheese was hot and melted. It's exactly what I wanted, so again, good. If you've never been to a Potbelly's: you make your basic sandwich order from the menu. After that, if you have something that gets toasted, then you tell the person behind the counter what veggies, sauces/oil/seasoning you want. There was miscommunication on toppings and Denise quickly addressed the situation and went above and beyond to ensure that the next sandwich was perfect and the drink. I was surprised when I called in and reported the issue and she stated it was no problem and said she remembered the order. How is that possible out of all the orders that come in? When I went in to pick up the order, she remembered me even though she did not know what day I would come in, the time, nor what I looked like. Just a place to grab a sandwich and go. I first time I tried potbelly I was impressed, wow finally a fast subway substitute!! However, this place was underwhelming compared to other potbelly places. My sandwich was covered in hot peppers, masking all the other tastes of the sandwich. I asked for all topping but didn't expect them to give an excess amount of spice. They also wrapped the sandwich extremely sloppily. Upon opening the sandwich seemed to explode. I had to put back some toppings so the pic doesn't look like a mess. I went in thinking I wanted an oreo milkshake and then I saw they had a mocha milkshake and I had to have it. I'm glad I did. It was delicious, thick, creamy and mocha-ey (mmmm chocolate and coffee together! Yum!) When you receive your delicious milkshake you get two little cookies on the straw. It's really cute and it's just a little bit different than your average milkshake. The other great thing is that the milkshake with tax is $3.19. Not bad at all! Good but not great sandwich. They use good quality but still processed meat (unlike Phillips which uses fresh meat). They have good toasted rolls but only limited toppings compared to a place like subway (I think lettuce, onion, pickles, tomatoes, banana peppers, maybe jalapenos is about it). The "big" size is definitely filling for lunch and the regular is still a pretty decent size. This is a huge step up from Subway in meat quality but not as good as Phillips. This place gets CROWDED at lunch and the line moves quick but you may not be able to get a seat to eat inside at lunchtime. read more

It's the standard options as your other Potbellys - choice of bread, size, toasted, toppings, sweets, etc. This place can get BUSY during lunch as one should expect with it's downtown location and proximity to a bunch of tourist sites. Never use the mobile app to order here. Better yet, avoid the entire place. I placed a mobile order today at my local Potbelly. I've ordered here before. The experience has never been great, but today it was an all time low. I went to the store to pick up my order and checked in. I was told by the cashier that she wouldn't go get my order until there was no line of customers waiting to pay. The whole purpose of mobile ordering is skip the line. I was patient for a while, but then after more than 10 minutes, I asked for my food. She apologized to the other customers in line, and made it seem like it was my fault that they had to wait for her to get my order. She walked away, and came back without my food ... they hadn't even started the order yet. I waited longer. She checked out other customers, and when I asked again, she walked away, just to come back with one item at a time ... first a soda (she brought a coke zero). I pointed out that I ordered a diet coke. She said, "we don't have diet coke" meanwhile there was an ice bucket next to her on the counter with a diet coke in it. I told her to give me one from the ice bucket, which she did. She still didn't have my sandwich, side salad or pickle. She went back to get my salad ... brought it back to the bag. Then, she went to get my sandwich. It wasn't ready yet. I reminded her about my pickle. She said she would get it, but didn't. After a while, she walked away again to get my sandwich. It finally made it into the bag. Still no pickle. Meanwhile, other customers are still lined up and she's pointing to me as the reason they can't be checked out yet, like I'm a problem. I asked for the manager ... and was told he was at the back of the store. I'm still waiting ... and finally told her to cancel the order completely and reverse the change on my credit card. She told me that I'd need to contact Potbelly, because she can't control what the app does. As my blood was on the verge of boiling, the pickle showed up and I brought my order back to my office to eat lunch. As I started to unpack it, I found that my side salad was BROWN. The lettuce was brown, slimy, and inedible. It went into the trash. My pickle was not sliced. Usually, it's quartered. Not today. All in all, this was a terrible experience. I told the cashier that the service today was unacceptable, and she snapped back at me with, "Who you telling?" Well, I'm telling all of you Yelp readers. I've sent a message to Potbelly feedback, and I'll never go back to this store. There's a Subway and a Pret a Manger right next door. NO reason to visit Potbelly again. Ladies behind the counter friendly and good location in downtown DC. Prices are decent, around $20 for 2 and great for a quick bite.
