The Mediterranean salad with grilled chicken was good, although I would've preferred not to have 1/4 cup of olives and then be charged $.49 for feta. Kind of pricey-$40+ for the above and two iced teas before any tip. One issue was the fact that we had to clean our table ourselves (!) with the wet rag supplied at the front counter. The food was pretty good and the outdoor space is nice but man this place is pricey. $15 for two fish tacos with a side seems a bit steep. The staff was very pleasant but the service was a bit slow; we saw a family who sat down long after we did who got their food almost immediately (and before us). I want so bad to give this 5 stars. The location is perfect! I go for the location itself. It needs to be bigger...a roof top would be awesome! The staff is awesome! I have only gotten the fish tacos and they were very good (not great...but again...it's about the location and so I think that added to the enjoyment of the food). I feel like they are slightly overpriced. My friend got the cheeseburger. It was tiny and cost more than any burger he's ever had. He said it was just "okay". City of Alpharetta NEEDS to add Adirondack chairs to the lawn area so that people who come down there to relax and enjoy watching the people with their kids and dogs have somewhere to sit. Chiringa has some seating...but it is a very small area...so seating it is very limited. The vibe, the music, the staff, the people and the location are IDEAL! The owners behind this spot are doing something right! Not sure why the reviews are so sub par? I love the feel of this place, very beachy without overdoing it. The menu is simple but it doesn't need to be anything complex as beach food is usually loved for its simplicity and freshness. The food is fresh, hand crafted cocktails, some known and loved like frosé and different types of margaritas. The guac here is a MUST! Those tortilla chips too are so crispy but also thick!! You can freely dip those in the guac without them breaking off into it (truly, it's the little things) and I LOVE that they have an option for plantain chips with the guac, my fave combo EVER! The fried sweet plantains are a must order as well. Fish is always fresh never frozen. I will definitely be back to try the burger and fish tacos, yum! read more

HAIRS BAKED INTO OUR FRIES. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Went for lunch on 12/7. My friend and I were the only customers. We each ordered a batch of fries. While eating, we noticed black, curly hair strands baked into our French fries as seen in the photo. Immediately informed the cashier and showed her the fry. She was disgusted, had a very passive attitude and even Suggested that the hair may have came from a factory. She did not apologize and pointed me to the manager. He was occupied on his laptop with all this things spread out on the table next to us. He just looked at it and flatly said, "Oh. I wonder why there's a hair because they're all wearing hair nets." He then walked away saying they would make us a new batch of fries. My friend then brought the rest of our basket, explaining there were multiple hairs throughout the batch. The manager Neither apologized nor offered a refund. From the front, we could see the chef had long dreadlocks barely covered by the hairnet. The entire time, the cashier hid her hands behind her. Did not offer to take the fries, and informed me I could throw away the fry away outside! Food was good, service was good, but the pricing is what forced me to give it 2 stars. It is way overpriced for "beach" food. 2 shrimp tacos (3 shrimp in each taco) and plantains for $15! Kids meals for $9! We are in Alpharetta not New York City! Alpharetta used to have a small town feel before the boom of construction. Every inch of land is taken over by houses, restaurants and shops. Add in extremely expensive fast-casual places like this, and that home town feel is gone. This is solid 4 stars. I think it's too busy ever to get 5 stars, but it's a noteworthy addition and a cool place in Alpharetta city center. Here are my 5 observations 1) Atmosphere - this is why you come - right? It's nice - light and airy, some TVs to watch sports, and a lively scene - people are in and out of here all day. They are trying to recreate the Seaside vibe and succeed. 2) Staff - Just fine - they try hard but overwhelmed much of the time. You know - fair is fair - they are better than average and do their best to make it enjoyable. Food can take a while given the crowds and it's a small space....they could use more staff, but it's a balance 3) Food - Good, check, no problem...Some things are great, others - so-so. Look you are coming here to sit in the sun, have a drink, see and be seen, let the kids run around while you de-stress....the food is fine. Baha Tacos are nice - the proteins cooked well. The plantains, just OK. The salads are simple but fresh. The guacamole is can't miss. It's really good -= and they have this cilantro/oil mix that's great on its own - but pour it in the guacamole - man, I could sit there all day and eat it. 4) Cleanliness - it's clean - really clean 5) Overall- they deserve a spot - you know Alpharetta said - just add water, and a ton of cash and have a city center - and they did it. We just love Chiringa! The food is tasty, the staff is always so friendly. We've never had a bad bite or a bad experience. It's so much fun to grab takeout while our kid plays on the green or the fountain, and they make it SO EASY, they are so consistently accommodating, which is so nice for families. We've been obsessed with the shrimp tacos, to the point that we get them to go, and drive 15 minutes each way to pick them up. Today, there was a mixup on the phone and we got home and had gotten a bag full of chicken tacos. Nobody's fault, they misheard us. They handled it so well, told us to come back any time and grab the shrimp tacos. Those are obviously more expensive than the chicken tacos that they charged us for, and we offered to pay the difference, but they told us not to worry about it. Downtown Alpharetta is hot right now and Chiringa offers a laid back, casual atmosphere in the middle of everything. I wanted their grouper sandwich, but market price was $19.99, which was way more than what I was hoping to pay at lunch, so I skipped. The fried chicken sandwich was pretty good and more reasonable at $11.99. Their house made yogurt ranch is phenomenal and do yourself a favor and dip it in their Blue Agave Sriracha sauce. Our kids appreciated that they had a Rubik's cube, cards, and corn hole outside to keep them entertained. They also have a kid's menu with a few different options that the kids like (burger, hot dog, chicken fingers). They have some different beach beers in cans and on draft (and Tropicalia). The open air concept at Chiringa brings me back to holiday at seaside. It's as if I can smell the beach. Light wood accents, lots of windows and outdoor patio all contribute to making you feel like you are on vacaction. Now for the most important part...the fish tacos were fantastic! Fresh grouper perfectly seasoned were the highlight for me. Along with the best tasting plantains I have had anywhere! Shrimp taco was very good and I like the choices of sauces. I asked if they had a bowl to put the chips in and they gave me the plastic lid to a food container. For this kind of price did they really expect us to eat the chips out of the bag. I was so excited to try this place but super disappointed. We never go out anymore since covid but decided on this place because of the outdoor seating and not being crowded at all during the time of day. First, the guy taking my order had his mask below his nose. I almost walked out but thought maybe I was overreacting. Like I said, we are super cautious and maybe a little overly so. Then, he literally pulled it down to repeat himself when I didn't understand what he said. Speak louder, don't pull down your mask. After paying I stepped to the side and waited on my drinks (a lemonade and a frose, both out of a machine). I watched him make 3 peoples drinks in line AFTER me before I stepped up and he said "what did you have?" Then he spent the whole 30 seconds it took to pour my drink from the machine to a cup. So frustrating. It was a Friday at 3pm, they weren't very busy. The food was ok at best. 4 fish tacos, a lemonade, and a frose $51. First time stopping by Chiringa and absolutely loved it. They have an amazing set up for the current covid times, outdoor seating is comfortable and plentiful. The spot this restaurant is at in Alpharetta almost makes you feel like you're at the beach, add in some seafood and a marg and you've got me fooled. We had 2 Core 57 bowls, one with mahi and the other with shrimp. This bowl was great! Honestly I could have had it without the protein and it would have been filling and delicious. Hey he mahi was fresh and well cooked though and an excellent addition. We also got the guacamole, which was one of the best guacs I've had. The tortilla chips and plantain chips were amazing. DON'T EVER COME TO THIS PLACE. This is complete and utter bullshit. I went to get a drink at this place on June 23. they said my ID was fake (even though I'm almost 22). The manger seemed really out it as well and had no common sense. She said happy belated birthday to me when my 22nd birthday is about 2 months away and I have been 21 for almost a full year. Just left the place after waiting outside more than 30min for a text letting us know our order was ready. When we went and asked what was going on, they told us it was in the rack (we hadn't received ant messages), but it wasn't ours (this was the manager-supposedly); then we got the person who got the order and he "was just informed" they didn't have that food available at the moment and offered a refund. It was all handled really lightheartedly as if it was not a big deal. I mean, we're waiting forever for the food until our drinks ran out. We went here for lunch today. Initial impressions were good; the staff was personable, attentive, and our food arrived quickly. We both had the Baja Tacos; hers were grilled red snapper, mine were fried mahi-mahi. The snapper tacos were very good, and the side salad had basic fresh quality ingredients with decent dressing. A couple of minor negatives: - My mahi-mahi was kind of crispy and dry, as if it had spent a bit too much time in the deep fryer. - Acoustically, this place has a lot of hard surfaces. This place is great for frozen drinks or a beer. Better options available downtown for food. We ordered two cheese burgers on Saturday night and brought them back home to eat on the balcony. The burgers were charred very badly. They must cook on an open flame, which in itself isn't a problem, but these were charred really badly. If I had been at the restaurant they would have been returned. I've had good luck in the past with the hot dogs and protein bowls, but will not order the burger again. Beware. UPDATE: We were contacted by the Owner and invited back to try another dinner on him. The restaurant's GM, Lauren, explained you us that they had two new employees working the night of our previous visit and assured us that they had implemented additional training. We returned and had two of the Core 57 protein bowls, one with shrimp and one with chicken. Both were very good. Both Andrew (owner) and Lauren (GM) were very nice.
