I came here on a Sunday afternoon since I was craving an espresso drink. I got a latte, and it was made really well. Smooth and creamy with a nice balance between espresso and milk. I've had many too-milky lattes, but this one was solid. The boyfriend and his father got black coffee. They both picked Hazelnut, and it definitely had a very strong hazelnut aroma and flavor. It's right by the ocean and so the view is nice. I thought the menu looked pretty good -- a wide assortment of sandwiches and salads as well as many pastries. Barrista (23-year old girl with auburn colored hair) was very friendly. I would definitely come here again, especially since it's within walking distance of my apartment. read more

We come here a lot. Great location. Nice local feel. Music on Sunday mornings. BUT we have started to experience bad service: we get the feeling we are a burden just for placing our order and our orders have regularly been messed up numerous times, with no apologies. Oh, and better not go when there's a line because they get stressed out and are even more unfriendly. Previous baristas were nice and attentive so we know it's possible. We are looking for a new cafe in the area. The coffee is also consistently very acidic, regardless of the type. I think it may be because they store it in plastic bins that build up residue but that's an uneducated guess. read more

There are two Chit Chat locations. One is right on the Pacifica Pier and is very small. This is the one in the photos. The other, is at the end of Manor Dr. right across from the ocean. The Manor location is much larger and comfortable. Best time for this place is mornings and in the evenings, when things are calm the sun is setting, and live music may be happening. Friday nites and Sunday mornings you can usually count on live music . The setting is great, with a big variety of coffees and drinks, and friendly folks at the counter. read more

Were I into coffee and hot chocolate, I would most likely be giving this more than 2 stars. But I had food and I'm basing this review on that experience. They should take the pulled pork off the menu. At about $6, it's not more than 2 stars. It could have easily come from a tub from Safeway. It was microwaved. I'm not so sure cold lettuce and tomato have a place on a pulled pork sandwich. There were no utincils with which to eat all the pork that fell off. I would not get this item again. Now, were I to go back, I'd have to inquire as to whether or not the nachos are made with cheese sauce or with melted shredded cheese. If the later, I'd give them a try. read more

Excellent bagel sandwich! I've never had creme cheese on a turkey avocado sandwich before - it was to die for. You also can't beat the view, casual band playing in the corner, chalk board menu, and friendly staff. It's a little piece of Berkeley in Pacifica. read more

I have gone to Chit-Chat cafe a couple times for a basic cup of Joe and to take care of paperwork while enjoying a decent ocean view. I cannot comment on their quality of specialty drinks, espresso service, or food, but in general their are much better places. The reason why I give the cafe two stars is for seating atmosphere, the ocean view, and the neighborhood: many of the small tables/chairs I have used are horribly lopsided and wobble making drinking a full cup of coffee dangerous to one's clothing and papers. Writing on these tables can be difficult because of the movement as well. While their is indeed an ocean view, you first have to look past an often trash-littered street and a deteriorating chain-link fence to see the ocean. By no means is it a gorgeous view. Finally, I do not recommend parking north of the cafe on Esplanade Ave (the street paralleling the ocean). The character of people walking down this street and going to and from the many apartment buildings is questionable. I would not feel safe leaving my car their long during the day, and I would not want to walk on the street after dark. Along with that, beach sand covers the road and with the heavy winds sandblasts your car. Park either on Manor Dr. or in the shopping mall parking lot at the corner of Palmetto and Manor. read more

The Manor store is a great friendly place with a wonderful view. If you want to give some crap to phoney robotic barristas or canned muzak go to Star*ucks. No uniforms required here. The owners are promoting local music artists and some are damn good. It's a great place for whole families. I've never seen the help make a sandwich without gloves and they taste great. The help works hard (especially the girl on music nights) without a lot of shmooz so tip them well. Go there, talk amongst yourselves...you'll like it !! read more

I would have to say that this little place is in the best location possible but one question is bothering me why can't they remodel or rebuild that little restaurant that is located right in the beginning of the pier to make a better place. Honestly if this place would be remodeled or rebuilder to a restaurant, they would have tremendous amount of customers. Anyways the only thing that I have ever got here is the coffee because when you at the pier you just want to have your coffee and enjoy the view. I have been on that pier dozen of times and I have never missed a chance to go to this little place for some donuts and coffee. If you are worrying about the parking, I would not because there is plenty of it along the beach and it's pretty safe. I really love this place. Every time I go to San Francisco to get someone from the airport I always drive out early to get to the Pacifica chit chat cafe to just enjoy the view, coffee and that fresh breeze that comes from the restaurant. I come in pretty frequently and the customer service is usually really good, the girls are really nice. But when I came in this morning the older man who was working was obviously in a terrible mood, he was consistently giving me and other customers dirty looks while ordering and sighing to let us know how annoyed he was. I don't know what they put in my delicious mocha, but I've been super jittery all day! I've passed by this place numerous times, but never stopped in. I had a mocha, which I said was delicious. This place is great! Not sure what all the other bad reviews are about, my service is always fast even though it's usually packed with people. These baristas also know how to steam almond milk and that is not easy! Most places burn it and you end up with nasty coffee that tastes like burned marshmallows. Food is excellent, too. This place is amazing. Less than 50 feet from the ocean. Excellent service, always available parking, and the best. Friday and Saturday live music. You can't ask for more. Place looks old though,maybe needs some remodeling but if you want to have a good time on Friday or Saturday evening...this is the place in Pacifica. My fave bagel is the lox. Location is best corner with ocean views. Free WiFi. Bands can be too loud. They serve almond and soy and cow milk. Although the pastries are purchased and not brought in....I order from them and pick up to avoid super long lines. Best thing is the games and books and all the laptop geeks drinking multiple flavors and brews of java, espresso, or beer and wine at night. And they have frequent flyer cards. Buy 9 get 10th free. Looks like you're guaranteed to have a great experience if you're white. Other than that, be prepared to get dirty looks from employees or feel uncomfortable if you're a minority. My sister was just here recently and wanted to order a sandwich but for some reason, this old white lady wanted to make her feel super uncomfortable by staring down at her the moment she walked in and ordered. My sister ended up ordering a drink and some plain food since this lady obviously is trying to make her feel uncomfortable and on top of that, this lady handed out an incorrect change(only $6) when my sis gave her a $50 bill for a drink and some food. Not sure what's wrong with this old lady, are you being plainly rude or blatantly racist? Because my sister also noticed that when she said 'thank you' to the lady, all she did was nod with a straight face. However, when a white guy left she suddenly was full of life saying, "Thank you! A double-shot americano is not supposed to be twice as watery as coffee. I was going to buy two more espresso shots to add to my beverage to it to make it an americano. I love this little neighborhood cafe! This cute little Oceanside cafe is my favorite place to work. They have a selection of brewed coffees, teas, beer and wine. They also serve sandwiches, salads and pastries. There's lots of seating available, some in front of the window where you can watch the ocean and some in the back with comfy pillows. My husband and I are "older coffee drinkers" We live in San Francisco and are tired of corporate coffee shops!!! The Chit-Chat Cafe has never let us down. The service and coffee has always been "top notch". Aly makes a cup of espresso that pleases my fussy husband!! Once a month I stop by to listen to a band the Chit-Chat showcases. As a member of the band is someone I've known for over 45 years, it gives me reason to stop by. I don't go there for the food, but as I'm a fan of pastrami sandwiches and the ones I've ordered (been there three times now) were done just right, it gives me reason to rate the Chit-Chat with high marks. I give five stars if (1) the food is better than palatable, (2) if the service I experience is what I expect and (3) if there are special considerations. Let's just say it's hard to ruin a simple pastrami sandwich (it wasn't), I think I've become a regular as my sandwich was made the way I like it and was presented with a smile. And finally, they have live entertainment. I usually get there by 7pm and leave around 9:30pm....always leave satisfied with the experience. read more

Today was my first time in as I had a business meeting scheduled here by my colleague who lives nearby. The barista was very friendly and she had a very warm, outgoing personality. The sandwich I had was very good and very reasonably priced. The location is great with an unobstructed view of the Pacific Ocean and street parking is plentiful. It's a nice, casual cafe the overlooks the Pacific Ocean. My wife and I went there and had some sandwiches and coffee. I enjoyed the sandwiches as they were substantial, but not gargantuan. I'm not a coffee expert but I enjoyed my latte. I can definitely see myself coming back if I wanted to just hang out by the water with a cup of coffee or take advantage of their wifi and do a little internet browsing. It's too bad that this place is in the opposite direction of my daily commute or otherwise I would be stopping in and trying out their bagels in the morning. read more

I keep forgetting to write my reviews....DOH! Anyways, I've been coming to Chit-Chat Cafe for many years. The location is nice. I used to order a avocado with provolone cheese sandwich with a cappuccino all the time. Although I haven't been there in awhile, still when I go it's a nice atmosphere and the staff seem friendly and helpful. I like my coffee strong, and I now have to order my cappuccino's dry to make sure I'm getting more espresso than milk. Not that can be anywhere cafe though. What is also nice about this location is you can take a walk by the beach. Bravo! read more

Lousy service. I like the venue - the view of the ocean is nice and the atmosphere is nice. Food is ok. But man, they always hire the unfriendliest people to work here. This morning the guy taking our oder had a blank stare on his face the entire time, and did not engage us at all, to the point where I wasn't sure he was ready to write down what I wanted or if I was supposed to wait for him to ask. They seemed annoyed that we ordered breakfast sandwiches; I heard one of them say "Eggs, yay". And on our way out we said "thanks" and both of them just ignored us. I regret tipping them at all. This place could be pretty cool if the people they hired to work here were even a tiny bit friendly. read more
