I arrived here around 9:25pm on a Saturday evening with my son. It wasn't busy at all. It was the off season (late October), so I'm sure that's normal. It took a few minutes to be seated, however. Maddie was the waitress and she was friendly and attentive the whole time. I got boardwalk lemonade with strawberry (contains alcohol). It came in a souvenir cup and was tasty. I ordered entrees at 9:36pm. I got the Fried shrimp dinner with fried and veggies (zucchini / squash mix). My son got the kids cheeseburger and fries. We received our food at 9:53pm. My shrimp was sooooo delicious. I had been craving shrimp and it hit the spot! The only downside, which is not necessarily any fault of the establishment, was that there was only one other table present but they were being vulgar and saying/discussing inappropriate things that my son didn't need to hear. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Jumpin Shrimp. The restaurant has a pretty decent space inside with plenty of seating outside for enjoying the beautiful seaside view. I cannot speak for the rest of the table, but I really enjoyed my tuna tacos. Compared to other spots on the Oceanfront, the prices of food and drink were pretty much similar. I have to admit that service was a bit struggle, but I think this was because we visited during a very busy weekend (Shamrock Marathon) during the off season. To me, it seemed as if the restaurant was a bit short-staffed because even the bartender was bringing food to the tables. We went here for Happy Hour and invited some others to join us with the intent of staying for dinner afterwards. The bartender (Josh N) was rude and "appeared" racist. We ordered two drinks, one was untouched after the first sip; the appetizers were decent, but the service, attitude of the bartender, and overall vibe was such a turnoff. We contacted our friends that were joining us and had them meet us at a different bar and restaurant (Ocean Eddie's) instead. Josh was no doubt the worst bartender I have encountered in many years. My grandson and I were in VaBch for a Alastair summer vacation trip. After an evening of swimming in the Atlantic, we were hungry and this spot was only a short walk down from our hotel. The ambiance was good and there was no wait time to be seated. The service started out good, but then a few issues occurred which dampened the experience. First, we waited a good 10 minutes for the appetizer to come out and then it was cold. It was sent back and an hot order finally came, but then the entrees were still not out. It seemed like an enormous amount of time to get the food out. I guess this was because they were within the last hour of work; not sure. The manager did compensate us on the cold calamari and apologize for the slowness. If not for the fore mentioned issues this place would be a 5-star vice a 3 on this visit. Does this place serve people of color? Genuine question... 0/10 experience here from what felt very racist and rude. The restaurant wasn't full / nowhere near full at all, yet we waited over 10-15 mins (maybe more) to be seated. There was no host at the front the entire time we waited and every single waitress / waiter walked past us about 5 times and never said a word; each one of them made eye contact with us multiple times and never said anything still. We stopped one of the waiters before he could walk past us again and asked about being seated and his response was "oh, yea I guess I can seat you" ... like really? Then once we sat down, 2 groups of white people came in and the ACTUAL HOSTESS / waitress immediately ran to the front and seated the groups of people, so they had no wait at all. From that we decided to go ahead, get up, and leave because we knew exactly what was going on. Completely ridiculous and gave the clear sense of blatant racism in this establishment. Never going back here. Definitely NOT giving this place another chance. Horrible atmosphere. Everyone who works there needs to do better and be better. read more

There were things that gave me the feeling or mixed results, the service , and workers were extremely kind even the Host I had a small talk with and found out he's from Belarus, while getting seated. I was visiting the beach for the first time so i was ready to have beach vibes and good food. Unfortunately the food was not the Best tasting. The Crab legs were very underwhelming and lacked season/flavor the menu says a different crab leg from the one you actually received, and the Alfredo was completely made with cheese the entire dish reeked of cheese I couldn't take more than 3 bites before ask for a box just to be courteous but i didn't actually plan on eating it later. The drinks were $18 for a simple margarita that was a 2/5 on taste as well. Overall if I return to the beach I don't think this will be a stop I will be back for. read more

I was waited on in about 2-3 minutes. This was fine because I already scoped out the menu prior to arriving. I ordered a Cobb salad and a cup of She Crab Soup. It's actually a little chilly in Virginia Beach today. The atmosphere is family friendly and they offer outdoor seating as well as indoor. Food arrived quickly. The She Crab Soup is very good w/ plenty of crab in it. the salad is as good with fresh ingredients. Prices were not too bad either. It's a 4 stars for me!! We were so glad to find Jumpin Shrimp on our last night in Virginia Beach. It was about a half mile walk along the boardwalk from our hotel and was such a great find. I had the Baja Shrimp Tacos and they were SO good and had great toppings on them. It was the perfect pre-race meal before my half marathon. They do have inside and outside seating, but the night we went it was pretty cool out so we sat inside. We will be back again for sure when we come back next year! read more

This place was the only available option compared to the restaurants in the surrounding area. To put it bluntly--the food was bland and they have the audacity to have seafood boils. The "flavor" was awful and spicy. The calamari was fried too hard. Burnt and crispy. The seafood trio had the blandest, un-garlicky flavored potatoes. They looked like dark mush. The crabmeat was soaked in butter and the shrimp and scallops were dry with no butter or seasoning on top. The service was fine as we were able to get seated right away and our server was great. When it comes to VA Beach, I will try something at least once. Will not be back unless it's for a glass of wine. I didn't bother taking pictures of the food. After ordering, within 10 minutes our apps started coming out. The fried goat cheese was out of this world, paired with pepper jelly! The lumpia is a must have, possibly some of the best I've ever eaten. The crabs were ok, not super hot and seemed to not be seasoned other than a tad of old bay sprinkled on them. Don't make the same mistake we did, you MUST come here. I got a burger because man I love my burgs, and it was awesome. It came with parmesan fries in a shape i've never seen before but they were incredible and I think it made them all the more delicious. NOT TO MENTION! The complimentary BREAD. Dare I say better than Texas Roadhouse... maybe. That's how good it is. Our waitress was very kind and we all loved the service. Also, I'm pretty certain they serve dogs here because we saw a waitress carry a dog food bowl outside to a table with a dog. Incredible. NO HOSTESS NO SEATING. While staying at the adjacent Four Points previously I have enjoyed the food and service here. But on a recent Friday morning in March it all fell apart. From 9:45-10:15 AM I tried three times to be seated, waiting 5-10 min each time for a hostess but none appeared. The restaurant wasn't very crowded and several waitresses were attending tables. I complained to a hotel front desk clerk and they tried to talk to a waitress to get me seated but they said they were too busy at the moment. So I walked and ate elsewhere. One waitress named Madeline came up to us and asked if she could help us. I stayed in the hotel for several days and went to Jumpin Shrimp several times. Breakfast and afternoon oysters and drinks. I love the all day HH from 10-6 with $2 domestic beers and mimosas. And then throughout the day they have specials. 3-6 is $5 Crushes, $1 Oysters and 1/2 select appetizers. For breakfast I had the avocado toast plate and another time the smoked salmon. My husband had a burrito with Au Jus sauce. I enjoyed breakfast. It wasn't huge which I liked. I don't want to feel full 1st thing in the morning. Coffee was hot and they had French vanilla creamer. HH Oysters were good....not the best but very good and I would go back to enjoy the $1 Oysters. Service.... excellent! Rhonda is awesome and so is Lisa and Timmea. We just arrived for a weeklong vacation on Virginia Beach. It was a long time driving from our overnight spot. This was a walkable distance from our hotel along the boardwalk. Ivan was a fantastic waiter! My wife got the Chicken Club, my son got the Jumpin' Bowl and I got the Fish & Chips. The Jumpin Bowl was delicious according to my son. I had a bite of his shrimp and tried some of the rice and it was pretty tasty. My wife loved her Chicken Club and the Virginia Beach Tea drink from the bar. My fish and chips was delicious. Just the right size piece of fish laid on top of tasty fries. My wife uses a wheelchair and this place had plenty of space to move around and we sat at a low top table. Meh. What was I thinking ordering fettuccine alfredo in a place called Jumpin Shrimp. But, hey, if it's on the menu one expects it to be good. Maybe the worst ever. The cream sauce congealed on the sides of the round tin it was served in. There was so much sauce it was like a concrete pour. The sauce was as bland as could be...absolutely no flavor. Nice little restaurant on the beach. There are quite a few decent options on the menu, and I went with the grilled shrimp dinner. The shrimp had a nice buttery flavor and came with a wedge of lemon for added flavor and cocktail sauce if you desire. It comes with 2 vegetables, I went with the grilled corn on the cob, and unfortunately they were out of baked potato even though it was early in the evening. Therefore, I went with the parmesan fries which were a nice surprise. The parmesan added great flavor and didn't even really need ketchup. Overall, it was a good dinner. I was intrigued by their lemonade flavors but not the $5 for "unlimited refills." I've never not seen lemonade have free refills. Maybe they were super high end, but I had to pass. The no baked potato was frustrating since there a not a lot of other options. The dinner was good though, and it's worth trying it you want a nice seafood dinner with a view. read more

Why do these businesses have to impose an additional charge? Just include it in the price of the food. Found this restaurant while walking to a restaurant further down the way at VA Beach and decide to give it a shot since it on the beach side and we still has some distance to go and it was starting to get windy. Started with the oyster Rockefeller and calamari for appetizers. Waitress dropped off a complimentary side of hush puppies. Oyster was good for their version of Rockefeller and the calamari was tender but very oily. I ordered the crab cake sandwich which was lacking in flavor even though their was chunks of lump crab meat in the crab cake.
