I stopped by this H-Mart food court after fishing all morning and was feeling very hungry with my group. This food court felt like a return to civilization after being out on the ocean. I also didn't catch any fish large enough to keep, so I was feeling pretty hungry! The lady working the counter was kind and patient in asking questions. They'll give you a buzzer that will ring when your food is ready, and you'll return the tray and dishes to the respective restaurant you ordered from. I ordered the Combo #19: Buckwheat Cold Noodles and Galbi, which I think is a great deal if you're splitting with someone or you want to try more than one entree. The dishes also all come with several banchan, which is standard Korean fare but still very enjoyable to receive. *Buckwheat Cold Noodles: This is a cold soup for the uninitiated! For being part of a combo, I was surprised the serving was still so large. There were plenty of noodles, and the broth itself was flavorful even prior to adding mustard and vinegar. They'll give half of a boiled egg and there were a couple of brisket slices as well. I enjoyed that they gave multiple slices of cucumbers and pickled white radish, as most places I've been to will stop at two slices. This dish also had brisket. *Galbi: They serve the LA galbi here (bone-in) and it's marinated well. It was up to standard in terms of taste. I think they also gave a little more than what I've seen at other places for combos that have galbi, which is always a plus for me. Overall, this spot is a great spot to try in the food court area. There are bathrooms for customers as well. If your eyes tend to be bigger than your stomach when hungry (me all the time), I recommend this as a good stop after grocery shopping! read more

It wasn't in a stone bowl but rather a wider stone pan where I was able to get the rice crispy with a larger hot surface area. Just be careful that it is a bit heavier to carry when you pick up the food. It was pretty much self serve once your food is ready. You will have to return the tray back to the respective stores in the food court. The seating will be limited if you are eating during meal times. read more

Giving this place 5 stars simply for its service. I got the beef soft tofu, mild. Originally it came out medium spicy which was too much for me to handle, and the soup tasted a bit burnt. I decided to bring it back to let them know and they were very apologetic and made sure to tell the chef right away. They made a whole new set for me and brought it out for me. The owner later even came and gave complimentary drinks to apologize. They really went above and beyond for this! The soft tofu soup here was also good! Mind you this is in the H Mart food court so for where you are, the portions and sides you get with it were plenty! The food here is really very good considering it's in a good court. The prices are probably a little higher than some of the other choices at the food court but you can see from the pictures how much you get. Also, they give you refills on the banchan. I've had a number of dishes here and they've all been good -- not necessarily amazing, but consistently good. This time I got the don-kat-su potk. You can see from the picture the huge portion. The pork was cooked well -- the breading nice and crispy while the meat still has some tenderness ... Not all dried out like it can sometimes get. They have a nice touch of serving it on a little rack which prevents the bottom from getting soggy -- that's better than most sit-down restaurants. My wife had the soon tofu soup. It's good, though not the best we've had (that title would be kaya, which is now closed and kaju on Culver). And the owner is a local woman who lives in Irvine, so I like giving her our business so the money stays on our community rather than going to some corporation somewhere. read more

Cho Dang is located in the food hall of HMart, tucked into the far left corner once you walk in and turn left. The setup here is cafeteria-style, with self-seating and plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy your meal after ordering from any of the stalls. There's ample parking outside, so getting here is pretty easy. I came here on a Friday evening, and Cho Dang had one of the longer lines, which made me think it'd be a good choice. I ordered the beef soft tofu soup (mild) for $15.99, and it came with four side dishes--kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts, and cucumber salad--plus a bowl of rice and an egg. The portion size was solid, and for the price, it's a good deal compared to similar Korean spots, which are usually more expensive for this quality. I'm giving it four stars mainly because of two things (these are areas of improvement): 1) Service Timing - My order took a while to come out. I was number 42, and after calling out 41 and 43 multiple times, they finally called 42. Not a major issue, but it did feel a bit disorganized. 2) Soup Flavor - The soft tofu soup itself was a bit disappointing. It lacked the depth of flavor I expected and tasted more like mildly spicy water than a rich, flavorful broth. Overall, if you're looking for decent Korean food at a reasonable price in a convenient setting, Cho Dang is worth a try. I was craving Korean food and stumbled upon this place inside H Mart. I went with the teriyaki chicken and dumplings. The chicken comes with rice and all the typical sides you would get at a Korean restaurant. The chicken was delicious and served piping hot. I have been wanting to check out the food court for a while and finally my daughter and I came. I ordered the soon tofu combo with kalbi short ribs. The kalbi short ribs were very tasty. My daughter finished the ribs all by herself. However their soon tofu lacked flavor. It tastes like kimchi soup and doesn't have the usual soon tofu taste like other tofu places. Because of that, my daughter hardly touched it. She told me that the ones I bought from the grocery store soon tofu kit taste much better than the ones here. I used to love this place since there is no good quality tofu stews around, but last night (12/26/2025) when I went to here again with my husband, my kimchi pork tofu stew has something smell weird, I cook at home so I notice the spoiled meat smell, but when you put in mouth you don't taste it. I had my doubts so I mentioned it as a joke to my husband that I think the meat inside went bad, if I got sick after this meal that means I got food poisoning. Ironically I immediately got sick after got back home, stomachache, diarrhea, nausea, then later felt cold like I was having a cold and super sick for 24 hours! I ate nothing within this time not even water. So disappointing, I could submit complaints to report this place, but I am just too weak to do it and my time worth on something else important in my life. A very nice and busy place located in the H Mart food court area in Northpark Mall replaced old Albertson's Grocery Store. The new food court has excellent PA system that announces your food when it is ready. The prices are not cheap since they have to pay a premium rent for Irvine Company High Rent. For example Cho Dang Dolsot Bibimbop (Hot Stone Mixed Vegetables Rice) dish with beef costs you over $20. I ordered a combo dish with NangMyeon with spicy chicken for $28.99 and a bottle of lemonade for $3. The NangMyeon had broth topped with ice cubes and tasted decent. The lady was very nice to remind me that I should eat it immediately before the noodles get all sticky. Good service and excellent customer service and convenience of neighborhood location all around with six other restaurants in the same location, Mukbang Friends, you can't pass it up! This is a review about service. Food is average. Prices are higher given location. But what drags Cho Dang far below average is their awful front house service. Completely unpleasant, repeatedly brings out incorrect order, and zero accountability on their errors. I am sensitive to the fact of cultural differences and perhaps language barrier but when you serve food different from what's printed on the menu and get told "sometimes the chef changes the menu", the vibe shifts from hunger to frustration.
