    Hot stone bibimbap
    Willie L.

Food court in the H-Mart. Ordered the dolsat bibimbap for lunch. The portion was larger than I expected. It wasn't in a stone bowl but rather a wider stone pan where I was able to get the rice crispy with a larger hot surface area. Just be careful that it is a bit heavier to carry when you pick up the food. It was pretty much self serve once your food is ready. You will have to return the tray back to the respective stores in the food court. The seating will be limited if you are eating during meal times.

I liked: Hot stone bibimbap stir fried squid This was ok: Hot stone bibimbap The regular bibimbap is fine but not particularly standoutish. The squid stir-fry version has that classic Korean kick and is flavorful. Overall, the dishes are decent but the experience loses points for cleanliness. The bowl we received was dirty and they don't provide tap water, which was a bit inconvenient. Service otherwise was fine. They take your order and call your name.

This is a food stall inside the h-mart food court. We got the dolsot bibimbap and the portion came out so much bigger than I expected! Between my husband and I, we couldn't even finish half of the food so we packed it home so we can have lunch next day. We love all the banchan it came with.

Beef soft tofu soup with banchan sides, fish and seaweed

Giving this place 5 stars simply for its service. I got the beef soft tofu, mild. Originally it came out medium spicy which was too much for me to handle, and the soup tasted a bit burnt. I decided to bring it back to let them know and they were very apologetic and made sure to tell the chef right away. They made a whole new set for me and brought it out for me. The owner later even came and gave complimentary drinks to apologize. They really went above and beyond for this! The soft tofu soup here was also good! Mind you this is in the H Mart food court so for where you are, the portions and sides you get with it were plenty! The remake soup they gave me tasted fresh and broth was still rich in flavor with plenty of beef portion as well. I'd go back to try again simply for their service!

I love this place, such a comforting spot with authentic food and huge portions! Love getting the tofu soup, cold noodles and especially the katsu. Service is always super quick & since this is inside the H-Mart food court, it's easy to go family style with your party.

The food here is really very good considering it's in a good court. The prices are probably a little higher than some of the other choices at the food court but you can see from the pictures how much you get. Also, they give you refills on the banchan. I've had a number of dishes here and they've all been good -- not necessarily amazing, but consistently good. This time I got the don-kat-su potk. You can see from the picture the huge portion. The pork was cooked well -- the breading nice and crispy while the meat still has some tenderness ... Not all dried out like it can sometimes get. They have a nice touch of serving it on a little rack which prevents the bottom from getting soggy -- that's better than most sit-down restaurants. My wife had the soon tofu soup. It's good, though not the best we've had (that title would be kaya, which is now closed and kaju on Culver). And the owner is a local woman who lives in Irvine, so I like giving her our business so the money stays on our community rather than going to some corporation somewhere.

Got a stonepot bibimbap, tastes decent and pricing is not much different from other places. Willing to come back and have other items too.

Cho Dang is located in the food hall of HMart, tucked into the far left corner once you walk in and turn left. The setup here is cafeteria-style, with self-seating and plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy your meal after ordering from any of the stalls. There's ample parking outside, so getting here is pretty easy. I came here on a Friday evening, and Cho Dang had one of the longer lines, which made me think it'd be a good choice. I ordered the beef soft tofu soup (mild) for $15.99, and it came with four side dishes--kimchi, fish cake, bean sprouts, and cucumber salad--plus a bowl of rice and an egg. The portion size was solid, and for the price, it's a good deal compared to similar Korean spots, which are usually more expensive for this quality. I'm giving it four stars mainly because of two things (these are areas of improvement): 1) Service Timing - My order took a while to come out. I was number 42, and after calling out 41 and 43 multiple times, they finally called 42. Not a major issue, but it did feel a bit disorganized. 2) Soup Flavor - The soft tofu soup itself was a bit disappointing. It lacked the depth of flavor I expected and tasted more like mildly spicy water than a rich, flavorful broth. Overall, if you're looking for decent Korean food at a reasonable price in a convenient setting, Cho Dang is worth a try. Just know that the flavor profile might not be as rich as you'd find at some other Korean restaurants.

    MILD dumpling tofu soup

Dumpling tofu soup, HOW IS THIS MILD? Beef bulgogi was terrible as well, no point of me sharing a pic. And I waited over 20 mins for a take out order, while all dine in orders after mine were fulfilled. Was hoping to support local/in market spot, NEVER AGAIN!

Cho Dang Tofu House - Irvine is located in the H Mart food court at Irvine NorthPark Plaza. I always get the Soft Tofu & Marinated Beef Short Ribs (aka LA Galbi) Combo when I visit here. The combination of Soft Tofu and Marinated Beef Short Ribs is a fantastic food combination. The side dishes served together are also good and delicious. But honestly, the food cost is about $40 including tip, so it is a bit expensive for a meal, but I still come here when I want to eat Soft Tofu and Marinated Beef Short Ribs.

I feel like this tofu house deserves a higher rating than what's listed. My family and I love to eat here at least once a month whenever we visit HMart. The service is usually quick, and the soft tofu never misses! We always have an enjoyable experience, and we often opt for Cho Dang if we want to eat sundubu but don't want to wait in line at BCD Tofu House.

Not sure why this place doesn't have more stars. Portion was huge for the price. Tasteful and amazing! Would definitely return. Inside the HMart food court.

It's located inside H-Mart's food court. There's plentiful of great food choices but this place hits the spot. Come check it out!

We finally gave it a shot today. We ordered the steamed pork belly, cold noodles, and the galbi soup. The food was very good. My mom was quite happy with the cold noodles and my kids consumed every drop of the galbi soup. My dad and I had the steamed pork belly and we agreed that it was pretty good. The part I want to really emphasize was the service. The young man that took care of us was very attentive and most importantly, treated my kids so well. He provided them with all their usual needs like plastic silverware, extra bowls for soup, and even offered extra soup when he saw that they devoured the galbi soup. He went out of his way to give them some BTS Edition Oreos and little bags with stickers in them. I am always very grateful anytime people take care to treat my kids well. If you're going with a few people, the Braised Spicy Premium Beef Ribs with the flat glass noodles is definitely the move. The portion easily feeds two to three. The meat is super tender and just falls off the bone, covered in a rich, spicy sauce that has a nice kick to it. The flat glass noodles soak up all that sauce, and the chunks of kabocha squash add a slight sweetness that balances out the spicy, heavy beef. Service is super fast. You get your banchan pretty much the second you sit down, and the food comes out steaming hot without a long delay. If you're looking for a quick group lunch spot where you can split something huge and spicy, it's definitely worth coming here.

While I've noticed some dishes have definitely improved in quality, I can't help but feel that the portions and overall experience don't quite match the rising prices. One major gripe I have is the banchan portion when you order takeout--it's definitely lacking, yet the price remains the same. I get it, this is a premium spot, and part of what you're paying for is the ambiance. But when you're just grabbing food to go and the service feels a bit off, it starts to make me question whether it's worth it. Honestly, I've been feeling like the prices have crept up a bit too much lately, likely due to the landlord hiking the rent. Plus, I've noticed a bit of pressure to finish up quickly, especially when I'm dining solo, which can be a bit off-putting. That said, this is my go-to place when I'm under the weather--I can't get enough of their soups! However, with the rising costs and what you actually get in return, I've found myself stopping by less frequently. It's a bit of a disappointment, as it used to be a staple in our family's dining rotation.
