I've been going here for years and it is excellent. Very good pastries, but the sandwiches are good as well. Their homemade bread is great too. The staff is very nice and strives to do a good job, even with rude, impatient customers. It's one of my favorite places in Hoboken. read more

I was searching for my morning beverage and today I chose a hot chai oat milk latte with vanilla. It was delicious and flavorful! Baristas Angela and Miffi were very welcoming and kind. They made me feel welcome when I entered and as I ordered. Hospitality at its finest! I also chose to try their Classic Quiche Lorraine, with ham, bacon, swiss cheese, eggs, milk and cream with a side salad . It was paired with a light dressing which was incredible! The quiche was tasty and I actually enjoyed it. At first I was a little concerned because the crust was on the crispy side, but thankfully it tasted fine! I sat by the window while I enjoyed my beverage and quiche and just appreciated a beautiful moment. I will be back!!! read more

All their food is pretty good, ok what am i saying it was really good. they have a babka which is a nice find. Their flowerless heavenly cake is also really nice isn't too chocolatey and their chocopain(chocolate croissant in French) is also delicious. The sever is attentive ant patient. Can't believe this cute little place is so close to my office. Their sourdough bread is amazing. I also had their chocolate tart, chocolate chip bread. Their latte is very good too! On my third visit I got lucky to have macrons in stock and I bought a box of 6. They were yummy! I got Chocolate, pistachio, coffee, lemon(surprisingly very good), salted caramel and raspberry for $16.60. They also had a lot of teas on display and for sale but I didn't try any. Service is excellent, location is awesome and the place is bright and full of natural light. It's a great spot for spending lazy mornings and getting together with friends. read more

The absolute worst customer service I have encountered. After paying with a $50 I was given change for paying with a ten. Then when this was brought to the immediate attention of the employee they didn't apologize but gave me more money, still ten dollars short of the change I should have been given. Again, instead of apologizing I was told it was my fault for making her nervous. The coffee taste burnt but the experience was somehow even worse than the food. the store is clean and welcoming. The menu sounds good with a lot of different items. We ordered the quiche, tuna salad sandwich, and the bread pudding. Its bizarre because the bread pudding and quiche were pretty much served cold... ice cold. There were only 2 people working and they seemed overwhelmed. This definitely sacrificed quality doing this. The food was pretty bland and even though it is new they have a few kinks to work out. Would only come back if I had no other options. read more

The dry cleaner is gone and more French pastries have arrived as Choc o Pain expands to Hoboken uptown. Place is nice and clean with a variety of seating from cafe tables, group tables and a loveseat. You can get coffee in a non paper cup and food not served in paper bag(this is not Starbucks) Both my mocha and chocolate croissant were good. So the second time I came here, I got a large iced coffee and the spicy tuna sandwich. The iced coffee is the best in Hoboken. It made me realize my next Starbucks order was crap and super acidic!! So I highly recommend the iced coffee. The size is good too. The spicy tuna sandwich was awful at first. There bread was so hard I could not eat it. I had them best it up though, and then is was much better. Still not great, but not the worst sandwich I've ever had. read more

10.00 am Tuesday morning I walked in to the empty store and the lady behind counter spent 5 minutes arguing about my grand daughter's age and refused to attend to us because my little one , 2 1/2 years old and tall was not wearing a mask. It just happened we were out for a walk and we forgot her mask at home. FYI there is no sitting at this coffee ship so she actually spent more time arguing than handling a croissant . The lady that left before me waited for me outdoors to let me know she goes through the same harassment every time she shows up with her 2 year old . Lady behind counter after arguing changed her mind and wanted to sell us the croissant but it was too late . We left with a little Child asking "why can't I have my croissant "? Terrible service with attitude. Female staff doesn't want you to ask anything about the lunch food. I was coming in regularly but won't be back for a good long while. Also the temperature thing is fine but get a working thermometer. If the 1 of 2 females working today is a manager she sure didn't act very professional . Usually I won't bother to write in but it was like you didn't want any customers. Lunch soups should be available and the person I was with said it was bad. If you want to do better in business you need to be more accommodating. Previously I bought many baked goods for others. I have to be gluten free and you treated me like I was an ass. Love this place! I used to Uber to their First St shop just to get bread so I'm really delighted they're now in my building! Hands down, they make the best bread in the area. Always fresh, always superb, fabulous! Their pastries are fantastic -- especially the pistachio cake and the flourless chocolate. Croissants are also great. If you want a classic ham, cheese and butter on a French baguette you won't do better anywhere in Northern NJ. I literally go to this place every morning. No more Uber. Food is delicious. Coffee is usually cold. Service is very rude and sooooo slow. The woman today poured my coffee and grabbed my mini quiche, rung me up, left my items on her side of counter then proceeded to help someone else. So the cold coffee got colder. One of my favorite cafes in town which is a franchise in Hudson County, this is there 2nd one uptown when you are heading out of Hoboken toward Lincoln Tunnel, so before you need to get out you can stop and grab a croissant /baguette/coffee (la columbe) and many more pastries to offer. Parking is a bit more tricky, best bet is park on Washington or Bloomfield st and walk over. I really recommend their Cortado and quiche lorraine. They have a bathroom gender neutral and also they take Apple Pay/credit/cash. It doesn't have a children section like the one downtown but they have seating for meetups or to do work. The staff is very attentive and friendly. So feel free to ask them questions. read more

Best coffee place in Hoboken. I live in the building and I get coffee and Avocado Toast every morning. Staff is extremely kind and experts in coffee making. The cafe itself is pretty and modern. The food is good and I knew that and this was the reason I came at this location. However two people working there were not good at all. Because of them I will likely not come here again. Both ladies seemed not to know the food they were selling, there are little pastries that I wanted to buy for kids and asked about the variety since it was not marked and the sales person opened each one with her fingers to see the filling... and still couldn't tell what was in them and what she had on the plate. Besides that fact that today everyone is using gloves when handling the food, not knowing what you are selling makes you incompetent for the sales job. The book/toy shelf was my nightmare as kids attacked books so we were not able to sit there as our time in the cafe would had been me attempting to stop kids from touching or reading books that were for sale. Also I do not wish to buy a toy or a book when coming for a coffee or pastries... think this was poorly planned. $5 for a small bottle of water is disrespectful to your customers who are visiting you as a part of a family afternoon stroll. Will not be coming back here as there are other more family places in the neighborhood. read more

The food is decent but overpriced (6 macarons and some croissants cost over $30). At this price, I would consider it on a rare occasion but the staff is a complete disaster. Service is slow, disorganized, and unpleasant. The staff ranges between rude and disinterested with the occasional half hearted apology for the lack of service. This happened over the 6 or 7 times I visited and only once did my order go smoothly. If they want to charge outrageous prices they should have the best service on the planet. Instead they have the worst service and the highest prices. I cannot wait for this place to fail and be replaced. This happens if the place is busy or empty. We had such high hopes given the location. They need real management, better staff, and should cut it prices by at LEAST 30% - 50% to be even a consideration. Avoid unless you are desperate or you enjoy overpriced items served with incompetence and/or indifference. read more

I love Choc O Pain! It is my go to spot if I need pastries to bring to a family gathering, or if I want to bring a little treat to someone. The croissants are delicious but my absolute favorite is the spinach and feta croissant. For a sweet pick, I love the chocolate almond croissant. I don't know how they do it, but it's perfectly crusty and flaky on the outside, and soft and gooey on the inside. Also the Petite Queens (Kouigns) are my favorite too. Ask the servers behind the counter to heat anything up and they will. The coffee is also great. I definitely recommend going to Choc O Pain, and try all different things each time you go. I also hear that the Avocado Toast is the best, but I have not tried it yet! read more

Probably the most amazing breads and croissants, and variations, this side of Paris. Seriously flaky, crispy, moist, in every spot that's perfect. Why not five stars? Some of the prepared food is missing the mark either the temperature it's served at or the flavors tho they are ok and the biggest disappointment for me is the espresso/coffee, should be better. Imagine having an amazing latte/cappuccino with that bread....!!! Back to the positive, can't go within 50 feet of any Chocopan location and not go in to get my (at least 3) favorites and then drift into bakery heaven. read more
