I remember when this was just a pop up inside the MEDA building and I would order the seco de Cordero every Saturday for lunch because it was literally the best lamb I have ever had. They closed during covid and I was so happy to see that they reopened on Folsom and 24th. We ordered the anticuchos (from real corazón) which are hard to find, ocopa and the salchipapas. I love this place because in a city full of Peruvian restaurants catering to the masses this place stays true to real Peruvian dishes full of flavor and spice and todo el sazon! The portions are so generous we always have left overs. When you walk by it might not look like the other fancy Peruvian restaurants in the city but it is one of the best! Do not miss trying Cholo Soy!

Seco Norteno de Cordero - lamb shank marinated with cilantro and Cholo sauce served with beans and rice . Absolutely amazing ! A must !!

It's not bad, the prices are much more affordable than many places in SF. I may opt for Lomo Libre however.

Fortunately for us, El Dorado was conveniently located a block away from Moscone South (yes, I had my eye on the restaurant ahead of time and had made a reservation). The first night, Jorge greeted us warmly and walked us through the menu. The restaurant's vibe is neighborhood casual, though still appropriate for a date night or nice family outing. We wanted to try a little bit of everything, so we ordered the ceviche trio, the empanada sampler, and the pescado frito, which is a pan-seared red snapper entree. For dessert, we had the churros and mango mousse cake. Everything was delicious, and our favorites were the original ceviche, the veggie empanada, the fish, and the mango mousse cake. For drinks, we ordered the chicha morada and pisco sour - both refreshing and yummy! Jorge was also our server, and service was excellent throughout dinner. We enjoyed everything so much and joked about dining here again tomorrow. Pretty sure Jorge did not take us seriously! The second night rolled around, and I couldn't stop thinking about the veggie empanada and pisco sour... so we dined at El Dorado once more! We did not have a reservation this time, and thankfully the restaurant had a couple of open tables. We told the host (not Jorge; sorry, I forgot your name!) we had dined with them last night, and he chuckled. Pretty sure he thought we were kidding! This time our server was Ayduri, who was very sweet and attentive as well. We got a full order of the veggie empanada, the shrimp causa (kind of like a tart potato salad with shrimp), the churrasco entree, and their seafood pasta special. For dessert, the chocolate cake. Another chicha and a maracuya (passionfruit) sour this time. All the items delivered - especially the churrasco, which came perfectly medium rare, just like we requested. And, to our pleasant surprise, the dessert was on the house, because we dined there twice in a row! All in all, El Dorado is a gem in SOMA. Granted, I do not venture into SOMA often, so my palate only knows so much. But I'm confident you'll find something to love here. And chances are we'll be back again the next time we're in the city.

I had the arroz criollo, which reminded me a lot of paella. The seafood tasted fresh, and the whole dish was flavorful and satisfying. I also got the passion fruit lemonade, which was refreshing and paired perfectly with the meal. And definitely save room for the churro! It reminded me of the churros at Disneyland, but even better. It was filled with hot caramel and paired with cold, bittersweet chocolate for dipping -- such a good combination. Everything we had was delicious, and we'll definitely be back!

There is a nice selection off the main menu for Happy Hour 4-6pm. Providing an opportunity to sample one or more of the menu items as an appetizer. I chose the mussels with garlic bread, as good ones are not found easily. The portion was quite ample, and the sauce I dipped my nice crunchy garlic bread in was very flavorful, warm and delicious. I also tried the plantains which were cooked perfectly; not too mushy with a perfect char, and the sweet onions on top were also tasty. Paired with a very tangy dipping sauce. All the flavors came together well. My husband ordered the Cantina burger which he enjoyed down to the last bite. Our daughter also sampled off the smaller menu with Lomo Empanadas and the Chicharron de Pollo which she reported were both very nicely prepared. Will, our server gave us excellent recommendations which we availed ourselves of. The bill for 4 items plus the burger, a side of rice, and a ginger beer came to just under seventy dollars, which was a reasonable price. I would definitely give the food five stars, and the restaurant four as it's a long and lengthy bar with a few tables for two. The majority of the seating is in the back with two flat screens and an open kitchen. I can imagine how loud this place can get. We went at the perfect time: not a lot of customers so we received excellent individualized service from Will. I would hope to be able to return next time we visit GG Park and sample some more menu items like the Peruvian Paella which sounded very promising.

My first time ordering it and I will look for it next time I'm at a Peruvian restaurant * chicken is well prepared, almost all the meat has been skillfully separated from the bone and flattened, resulting in a crispy & well-coated chicken that can be eaten almost without utensils. * while the chicken is well prepared, coated, and cooked, I wish it had either more spices or was paired with a sauce for some extra moisture & flavor diversity. * The boiled potato really exceeded my expectation. It's so 'potato', as a potato lover I appreciate how minimally processed it is. It's not mashed or mixed with flavorings, it's really just a perfectly cooked potato with a drizzle of sauce. I don't think the potato will blow anyone's socks off but I really liked it :) Service is very friendly, it's giving family owned vibes. The interior is festive with lots of Peruvian decorations and there's a cute faux grass welcoming mat outside to set the mood. Overall I recommend this place! I think it's a great spot especially because there's plentiful parking and nothing compatible in the immediate surrounds.
