Salmón Playa Azul w/ mashed potatoes & salad. Margarita flight
    Jasmin G.

I have been coming here since before they had burned down and it might have been a blessing in disguise because the new Playa is beautiful! The bar set up is niiice. Seating feels similar to before, but upgraded. Our waitress (ugh forgot her name unfortunately, i remember her because she had braces & was so cute lol) but sooo sweet! Super attentive and just an angel! My bf ordered the margarita flight which I think he said wasn't on the menu anymore but she said she would get it for him anyway. A doll. He ordered the New York strip mash w/ veggies and of course didn't wanna share I ordered the Salmon mash and salad. Everything was fresh and juicy and so flavorful. The mashed potatoes I could probably have ate just alone, literally perfect. Salmon was crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked. We had to yell out to the Chef how amazing everything was 10/10 !

I was craving a fried fish so I came here for lunch. Delicious as usual and wasn't disappointed. The only thing I didn't care for is the rice, it was pretty dry and plain. Everything else was great!

First time trying this place out ~ my family members who live in SF said they have been coming for years . Definitely great authentic Mexican food/ Seafood . Ambiance: A ~ I enjoy that you get a touch of Mexico with the wooden chairs and details on it . Food : A ~ all dishes were delicious and fresh . We were a group of 6 and everything came out together. Next time I visit the area I will be going back to try other dishes !

Came in recently and they had great food!! We had the mixto cocktail which had shrimp and octopus it was fabulous!! Also shared the calamari which had a really nice light batter to it. Entree was carne asada which was perfectly cooked. Waiter could have been a little more attentive but otherwise great experience.

Always fresh the food here is so good. I recommend trying everything on the menu. Vuelve a la vida and mariscada a la parrilla are my favorite. Playa azul nachos is my favorite appetizer.

    Amazing

What an authentic place. A place where you feel like familia. From the regular clientele , to our Bartender Sandra to the owner Don Roberto treated us with love and tequila shots and appetizer. It is a hidden gem in the Mission. A must visit again...

I would recommend requesting for one of their tables instead. The restaurant has very dim lighting, but you can still appreciate the beautiful interior/decor. The servers are extremely nice and gave great descriptions + recommendations. We ordered the ceviche de pescado, artichoke, pulpo, croquetas, roasted cauliflower, yuca fries, Ojo de bife - ribeye steak, Bife con papas, and gaucho. The ceviche was everyone's favorite appetizer, with fried corn was unique and balanced out the acidity of the ceviche. The yuca fries and cauliflower were basic dishes that I wouldn't order again for the price. The artichoke was a bit of a disappointment as it was more difficult to eat than expected. The char on the artichoke was a bit too overpowering as well. The main dishes were great! All the beef was done to perfection and melted in your mouth. The fries that come with the bife con papas were extremely flavorful and had a good crisp that made it very addicting. For dessert, we ordered the churros, apples crostata, and chocolate cake. The churros themselves were average, but the side caramel and chocolate sauces were surprisingly not overly sweet. The chocolate cake was decadent and moist -- would recommend if you like a dense cake. The apples crostata had great flavor from the apples and the sweetness from the apples were nice with the ice cream on top. Personally, I would just get the chocolate cake again.

Offering a rich array of traditional Peruvian dishes, Mi Lindo Peru is a celebrated restaurant known for its vibrant flavours and generous portions. The establishment has become a favourite of go-to spots among locals and visitors alike for an authentic taste of Peru in San Francisco. Located in Bernal Heights, parking can be challenging in this bustling area. Luckily, we arrived around 6:30 PM, so I was able to find a space across the street, less than a block away. Truth be told, though - I did drive around the neighbourhood about 1.5 times before scoring a spot. The brightly lit dining room's ambiance is casual, unfussy and welcoming. Only one table was occupied and no other customers arrived to dine in during our visit. We sat at the half booth table at the very front, adjacent to the entrance. On this evening, the spacious venue was clean; however, a small stack of empty white plastic buckets at the foyer floor stuck out to me like an eye sore. Along with our menus, we were served a complimentary basket of two slices of soft, white bread, a ramekin each of a single ball of soft butter and a non-spicy red salsa. Below are what we ordered: Chicha Morada (Glass, $4.95) - Ana ordered this beverage for me, insisting that I try a Peruvian drink. She described this sweet purple corn juice as a Peruvian Kool-Aid. Her description was pretty spot on. Just a bit too sweet for me, but nonetheless refreshing. Aji de Gallina ($22.95) - I have always been curious about this classic Peruvian creamy stew, so was stoked that Smitty said that she was ordering it. YUM!! I need to order this next time! Lomo a lo Pobre ($28.95) - "A lo pobre" translates to "poor man's style" in Spanish and refers to the simple addition of a fried egg, fried plantains and/or rice and french fries to traditional Peruvian dishes to add another level of tastiness. I'm a big fan of Lomo Saltado, but jumped on this option with the added plaintain and perfectly fried egg. I was conservative and had the egg yolk ooze over the white rice (I could tell that the rice was steaming hot because the yolk began to cook once I sat the egg atop it). I immediately regretted that move, kicking myself for missing out on exploring the added flavour from breaking the egg over the meat, veggies and french fries medley. Next time, for sure! Despite the slight tough texture of the lean strips of meat, my meal was still delicious and enjoyable. Service was friendly and fast. I was taken aback when the check was delivered sans asking us if we were interested in dessert, though,...especially because I was so looking forward to a sweet finale with Alfajores. We inquired, but, sadly, they were out of the dulce de leche cookies due to their popularity during Valentine's Day weekend. The cookie monster in me was SUPER bummed. I initially thought that they had no inventory of postres (dessert) since they didn't offer any at first, but turned out that they did, indeed, still had offerings. We decided to pass on the sweet course. So delighted I was to be introduced to Mi Lindo Peru by mi querida amiga. I would happily return to continue the delectable culinary journey here that highlights the essence of Peru.

I'd give them about a 3.5 out of 5. On a good day, they come out with that perfect golden-brown finish. On a bad day, they look and taste undercooked to the point where I've had to throw them back on the stove at home just to make them edible. The ambiance doesn't do much to help. It's your typical Mission-style Latin restaurant, kind of sticky and worn-in, but in a way where you can't quite tell if it's part of the aesthetic or just a lack of upkeep. Now, let's get into why this leans closer to a one-star experience. The staff consistently come off like they'd rather be anywhere else. They don't smile and often come across as rude. Timing is basically a suggestion here. If you place a takeout order, plan well ahead, at least 45 to 60 minutes before pickup. Every single time I've called, I've been told 25 to 30 minutes, only to arrive and wait another 15 to 20 minutes. Without fail. And in a neighborhood where parking is already a headache, with limited meters and tight timing, you'll feel that delay. Your patience will absolutely be tested. Don't say I didn't warn you. Update: Today's order included a hit inside the cheese mixture of the Pupusas. Disgusting.
