I have been meaning to try CHOMP for quite some time due to their quirky burgers and beer menu. The parking lot is quite small but we got there early enough for lunch that there were plenty of spaces. My friend and I sat at the bar and the bar tender was quite attentive. Their beer menu was pretty decent compared to some other local places and it appears it changes frequently. I settled with a basic burger and salad and was happy with my meal. The brioche bun on the burger was nicely toasted and the specialty sauce on the burger was delicious. My salad had a great dressing that I wish I could take home with me! All in all, I would come back but wouldn't say the burger was out of this world, but was better than average. CHOMP is a nice spot for a quick lunch and they have frequent specials. read more

If you like greasy food, cold fries and bad service chomp is the place for you!! The location on the water is beautiful although you most likely will be sat inside with the deafening music. That won't matter though when you bite into you food and question why you would ever pay for such mid food. There employees and managers need to learn restaurant etiquette. It's to bad because Having managers that are rude and do not know how to talk to a customer are the first steps in a business going under. The kitchen was also very slow which according to our waiter "the kitchen has a hard time handling many slips at once". Yes their beer is good but it can only be so good until people realize how badly they are being ripped off. To bad so much wasted potential, they need someone who acts like they care about the place! fun fact; this is where i met my boyfriend 10 months ago. we decided to do date night because i wanted to try their mac and cheeseburger so badly (i tried red robin's mac and cheeseburger and was super disappointed with it) the parking lot was packed on a sunday around 530pm. we couldn't find a spot so we parked on the street around the corner and just walked over. the wait for 2 people was about 15-20 minutes but we were seated in less time than that. our waitress informed us that their brisket bao's starters were made of pork belly instead of brisket that evening, we normally eat steamed baos with pork belly anyway so it wasn't a problem for us. we also ordered their frickles because i love fried pickles. so that's that. the bao's were delicious, boyfriend likes the bao's from kens ramen better, i'm a little in between, i enjoyed both very much as they both have different unique factors. i ordered the mac and cheese burger and he got the mushroom burger. i was starving so i ate the whole thing. it was delicious! the mac and cheese is made with some sort of sweet red pepper mixture. to me, it didn't feel as heavy as mac and cheese normally tastes, they definitely didn't use that much cheese which i'm 10000% okay with. i enjoyed it that way. i only ate about less than half my french fries so i got them packed up with boyfriends food. he only finished half his burger and fries. yum yum yum. && the drive was only 25 minutes from my boyfriends house compared to 10 months ago when i had to drive 1hr and 10 min. so that's a plus read more

They told us it'd be about a 45 minute wait on a weeknight, but we were seated in about half the time! Our server was super sweet and happy to answer our questions. My friend and I wound up ordering the same meal which was a summer salad and we both added fried chicken. I was a little confused because the description of the salad included corn and there was definitely no corn in the salad, but it was delicious either way! I also got a side of various pickled vegetables which we both really enjoyed. The space is small, but very cute and offers a decent amount of outdoor seating as well. Tonight a friend and I decided to try Chomp, as we had heard good things. I was disappointed that their menu is as limited as it is and that there's no vegetarian option that is not a salad and is not cooked with chicken, etc. I ended up getting a salad for dinner which was tasty but hardly had any thing to it but lettuce. Also, the plate was only half-full. It was about the same size as other restaurants side salads but cost as much as an entrée size salad. After working all day, this was less than satisfying. My friend did enjoy her hamburger and said that she would return. I on the other hand would probably not return unless they updated their menu to include vegetarian options that are not salad, cooked with chicken and not fried! I will be contacting my bank to dispute the charges that chomp placed on my debit card. I was at the restaurant with my friend. We wanted to split the bill. Our entire bill was $54. We added the tip in and split it down the middle. My friend was paying with cash so we told the waitress to put $33 on the card and the rest was cash. Well, no wonder the waitress was so nice to us when we left-she put the entire $54 on my debit card and took the $33 in cash that my friend put down as her tip. I'm bumping Chomp down to 3 stars. This is hard to do, but necessary. I really rooted for Chomp in the beginning but I've got to admit I'm not impressed anymore. While the decor is still great and I love the small, intimate atmosphere there and the beer list is still the best in town, there are just too many issues to overlook in order to keep them at 5 stars. My main reason for the drop in stars is inconsistency. I usually come here with a group of 4-6 people and just about every time, someone orders something they remembered loving, but then is disappointed because it is prepared completely different from the previous visit. Also, they no longer offer the Veggie Burger and this was seriously one of the best veggie burgers I had ever had. So now, when I visit Chomp, my entree options are prohibitively limited. When my whole table is chowing down on burgers, I would REALLY love to be able to do that too but instead I get stuck chewing lettuce. The service can be snarky. There was a "situation" with a group of runners at my last visit, who were planning to go for a run and then meet up at the restaurant after for drinks/food. I don't know the specifics of that, but what I do know is that I really didn't enjoy listening to the waitstaff scoff and complain about the runners taking up parking spots and using the restroom, and badmouthing those potential customers as soon as each one left the building. I just think that could have been handled much more professionally. A big group of runners gets mighty hungry and thirsty after a run so if you are hospitable to them, it could prove quite lucrative for you to be a little more welcoming. Lastly, I HATE the homemade ketchup! There, I said it. It's gross and I don't know anyone who likes it either. I realize that's not the most mature thing to say, but seriously, it's nothing like ketchup. I'd still recommend them for a good spot to grab a beer and some appetizers though. I could give this place five stars for the frickles alone, but the service, sandwiches and drinks are so good, five stars are what they deserve all around. We came in late on a Wednesday night, close to 9pm and (I assume) closing time. The servers greeted is like old friends and told us to sit anywhere, and within minutes a sweet girl appeared with menus and answers to questions. First and foremost, we asked for the fried pickles that have been the buzz of the RI food scene since these guys opened. I scanned the cocktail menu that was quite tempting and very interesting, but in the end chose a delicious Malbec that at $7 was a steal. The beer menu is impressive, too -- in fact, my husband went with an IPA that he deemed 'mmmmmmmm... Wow' good. The main event consisted of the fried chicken sandwich -- perfectly fried, crispy chicken breast with a fabulous apple and carrot slaw and delicious bourbon glaze nestled between beautiful bread. The side salad was delish, too -- it had a hint if fennel which I found refreshing and delightful. The place is simple -- nothing fancy, but clean and cozy and welcoming. I really wish Chomp was closer to PVD as I could see this place becoming a go-to spot, and I have yet to try one of their rumored best burgers in RI. That said, I'll be back right quick, Chomp. I'm giving this place a 3 star rating because I really feel like there's potential. However, I was so so so so so not impressed. I've heard such great things, so I chalk this up to inconsistency since they must have been good at some point to receive all of the rave reviews. Top reasons I probably won't go back: 1. The place is small - so the wait can be long (which means the food needs to be worth it). 2. Snarky or uncomfortable service - the host didn't offer us two seats at the bar, but did to the folks that came in after us, saying the seats were a little tight at the end of the bar... umm so are you calling me fat? You won't even give me the option of the bar and allow others to sit before me? Also, our waitress hit my purse (hanging on my chair) once and apologized. Then she proceeded to whack me every single time she walked by again. I had nowhere else to put my purse. I moved my chair in more to give her more space -- still hit me every time. Wow. 3. The wings -- soggy and flavorless.... Literally no taste. No crunch. I ate only one or two, and the waitress asked if I wanted to wrap them up. I said no and explained why. She looked at me as if she were offended and then didn't offer to get us anything else. Didn't say anything, was shocked, walked away with our food, and didn't say another word. Really? 4. The burgers -- a little pricey, but worth it if they're good -- which they really aren't. The bread is so important, yet so neglected. It was cold and dry. How hard is it to toast/grill a bun? The ketchup is weird. Sorry, I'm a foodie. I am not a picky eater. But the ketchup is gross. The meat itself is tasty and was cooked to temp -- the rest just wasn't good. Big fat fan of Chomp. From the really great and truly interesting taplist, to the last bite of a hearty burger stack, nary a complaint could be made. The beer selection is impressively diverse, ranging from New World interpretations of Belgian styled brews to a summery American Rye in a scant, yet somehow plentiful 8 or so taps. Our server, courteous and cheery, set an inviting and comfortable tone for us throughout our stay. Starting with homemade pickle chips (Frickles) and an order of Maple Bourbon & Bacon wings, the first bites were not a disappointment. The fried pickles are certainly the best example I could imagine of the kind. Enclosed in a crisper shell than I had expected, that opens with a satisfying crunch, the pickle inside is a bit sweeter and finer than most, a rather nice surprise. The chicken wings, and their Bourbon based sauce, were done is a manner reminiscent of Hoisin style chicken, but with so much more style. The woody Vanilla flavors of Maple adding so well to the smokey Bourbon and Bacon. I'm pretty sure anything cooked in this sauce would be delightful, and the drumsticks stood in and did just fine, admirably in fact. The Stack 2.3 was probably, OK certainly, a bit too much. It is kind of the point, I understand. I was only able to get in a bite or two, before the tower of a burger collapsed, and I resorted to fork and knife. Being a bit too much, carried out in flavor and portion alike. Big, bold, and contrasting bites of heavy smoked Gouda, and spicy Onion Jam, BBQ sauce and spicy Fried Chicken, set on a base of perfectly cooked, coarse ground, high grade steak were well over the top, one after the other. That said, its probably not a food journey I'll take again. A classic cheeseburger is likely more my speed. Enjoyed the whole thing, comfortably, well done. read more

Maaaaaahhhhhvelous. Went in tonight to see if Chomp could live up to all the rave reviews and I'm happy to say it does! I got the House Burger which was cooked perfectly and their burger sauce is a nice addition to the whole package. Hand cut fries with homemade ketchup were a nice touch. P got the Philly Roast Pork which was fantastic. An extra high five for the excellent and tasty beer selection along with the addicting dry rubbed smokey hot wings. Update: Have been back many times since my first visit and everything has always been deeeeelish, fresh and thoughtfully made, even the drinks! Slam dunk here. And to the guy who said this place isn't as good as five guys or in and out ... Uh ... please continue to eat cheap nasty burgers and stay out of high quality burger joints. read more

Came to the former Hat Trick On a Friday night after the reviews wowed us! At 9 pm, there was only a few minute wait, which was very nice, as the entrance area was very crowded and narrow. This is a very small place, and seats are at an absolute premium. If you have a party of more than four, call ahead and see what the wait will be. We had the poutine, which was a huge portion and incredibly rich. It would be best shared or eaten as its own entree. The French Onion burger was incredible, the fries crispy, and the homemade ketchup was a great tangy complement. Service was very attentive. All our questions were answered and I ended up having the last gasp of a cider (the last portion in the keg), so they offered that free. It was encouragement to have a second and linger over our meals. I absolutely love this unexpected gem and will be back again next time I'm in RI. read more

FRICKLES! I never thought fried pickles could be this amazing, but I was wrong. Delicious, crispy, seasoned batter. Fresh cut, juicy pickles. Homemade dill ranch dipping sauce on the side. SO GOOD. I am not ashamed to say that I ate an entire order by myself. I don't think I'll ever enjoy fried pickles anywhere else anymore. I stopped in with a friend for a quick bite the other night after she kept raving about this place. I had to go. We got the house burger and an order of the hot and smokey wings. The burger was big, juicy and delicious... and very fairly priced. The sauce, bun, cheese and everything was just perfection. The wings were also very good. They were good sized wings that were juicy on the inside and nice and crispy on the outside. The sauce was really awesome. It was kind of like a buffalo sauce but with more of a smokey flavor, and topped with fresh herbs. We didn't get cocktails because we already had plans for later, but the cocktail and beer menu looked awesome and I will definitely need to stop by again soon to give it a try. OMG!!! This is about my/our 7th visit to Chomp and it just keeps on getting better...what more can I say? Well, plenty.... I used to live in Bristol, RI but now live in Wilmington, NC and every time that I visit RI (which is often) I make sure to stop by Chomp for dinner. When they first opened they had an appetizer on the menu that included baked and spiced almonds, homemade hummus, olives and pita that was simply amazing. It was our "go to" appetizer...Now, it is their Poutine which is almost a meal by itself. If you have a party of 3 or 4 you really should try this appetizer...and ask for a spoon! My latest visit included my favorite ex-wife (I only have one!) and one of our many sons. We each had a different burger and I chose the 'Cheeeeeeseburger' which has two garlic bread grilled cheese buns surrounding melted onions, a generous beef patty, tomato jam, american and cheddar cheese and bacon aioli....Holy Crap Batman...fan-#$&@'ing-tastic!! (if you know what I mean :-) The beer, wine and specialty drink selection is perfect and we have always enjoyed the very friendly wait staff. Awesome place. The food is amazing! I had a special chicken sandwich so good and quite large. My husband had bourbon & bacon. He loved it. I should say he isn't a sauce guy and only put the jam on it (the jam was really a fruit meat purée- so good!!). The beer list was ok but they did have a few odd balls. The atmosphere is awesome. I was surprised on a Saturday night 6pm to see an older crowd. It has the potential/feel of a hidden gem. I could hang out for hours drinking and slowly eating my way through their starters and/or side. I had fried Brussels sprouts with my sandwich. Tasty! If you're looking for a good beer selection and a tasty hamburger then you've come to the right place. Chomp has all of these things and then some. Located in Warren, Chomp I feel suffers from being in a terrible location, but regardless of that they deliver food with a new degree of awesome. The place is very small so I would suggest keeping the party to four or less. They have bar seating and dining seating, but like I said it lacks space. They have outdoor seating which is clutch during the summer, but as the winter approaches it isn't an option. Another cool thing about Chomp is they have a list of a variety of beers on tap and bottled or cans that are constantly changing. Chomp also has beers on tap with mini kegs and they have a list of "on deck" beers that will replace the current beers on tap. While I was there my friends and I got frickles and if you aren't familiar with them...they are fried pickles! They are salty and so crispy! They serve it with this ranch aioli and take my word for it they will change your life! The burger i got was the smoky bandit. If you like a burger with a little kick to it this one is for you. Trust me it can get pretty spicy because of the pickles jalapeños. The patty is made from fresh beef and pork and mixes so well with all the flavors of the burger. I highly suggest it! Also the French fries are top notch so when they ask for your side of either French fries or a salad, just tell yourself you're gonna go to the gym tomorrow, and get the fries! While I appreciate a homemade veggie burger to any of the processed fake meat products, it was a little mushy and a tad under seasoned. This was my second time to Chomp! It's definitely a go to for burgers and a beer! My family and I started off with the poutine and crab Rangoon's! The poutine was yummy and had actual duck in it and it was different but apparently that's how it's supposed to be made. The crab Rangoon's were definitely an acquired taste, everyone seemed to love them! Next up were the beers, I got the on tap cider which was yummy. And everyone else got different beers that they had never had before and loved them too! Everyone at the table got burgers or chicken sandwiches! The burgers were yummy, my husband got the fried chicken sandwich which he mentioned was better with the stack the previous time. The French fries could have definitely been cooked more but we're still okay! Overall I would recommend this place for a burger and beer meal, but definitely be willing to wait quite a bit considering the parking is scarce as well as it's tiny inside! read more

The hubby had bookmarked "Chomp" a while ago. And since deep down inside, we are truly Rhode Islanders, we never took the leap to drive over the bridge. Until..... the hubby couldn't decide on a place for his birthday dinner. He searched Yelp and all of our bookmarks and remembered how badly he wanted to go to "Chomp", and if his lovely wife was going to drive since it was his birthday, why not?! I didn't really know what to expect because I glanced at the Yelp page, but didn't really care since it was his birthday. We started off with a beer and punch drink. The beer was a double IPA, which the hubby really really liked. I was not crazy about the punch, maybe it was the raspberry vodka that threw me off. For an appetizer we had the Kim chi pork belly bao. I had never tried bao before and was surprised at how delicious this was! The dough was so soft, and although the flavor of the actual dough is very plain, I really enjoyed the texture. Now let's talk about the pork belly inside. It was crunchy but juicy, and the sauce was perfect! This was a great choice. I give all credit to my other half, as I would have never ordered this. The birthday boy got the French onion burger and I got the bacon burger. The burgers were delicious! That's the good part about going somewhere that specializes in one main dish! The hubby loved his all beef burger. He said the meat was perfectly cooked and high in quality. My burger was also very good, but it was a pork and beef burger. I was a little hesitant to order this, but just went with it. It was very flavorful and a bit spicy, which I liked. It tasted like an Italian sausage. The texture of the meat was a little different than an all beef patty and it was very juicy. Although it was very good and tasty, I'm not sure if I'd get the same patty next time. We were excited to try chomp, especially since they have a lot of awards under their name. However, our experience was not ideal. We had a reservation and arrived on time. When we got there our table was not ready and in fact that table had yet to receive their check. No big deal, this happen. There is really nowhere to wait inside without feeling like you are in the way. Luckily we both had jackets so we waited outside (this was in January). Once we were seated our table was right next to the door to go out to their outside dining area, which they still had open with propane heaters. Every time someone opened the door you would get a chilly breeze. I would highly bringing a sweatshirt if you are coming in the colder months! I noticed throughout the evening that even the wait staff had their jackets on. We ordered our food, and we ordered more than we usually would, so we could try a lot of different options. For the food -- we started with appetizers of the wings. We ordered both the Korean and house bbq, unfortunately we only received the house bbq. When we asked our waitress about it she did go back and check the order on the pos system and returned to tell us that she entered it right then we pretty much got just an "sorry, it's not my fault it's the kitchen's fault" we also ordered the Mac and cheese balls, they were just okay. We then ordered our dinners. One hot honey chicken sandwich, which was delicious and their original burger, which was fine, I wouldn't say it was anything special. Overall our experience was just okay. It could have just been an off night. We won't be rushing back anytime soon but maybe we will try it when we have warmer weather again. read more

I wish the space was a bit bigger, but that only complaint I have. Because the space is so small and the food is so delicious, there tends to be a wait. They open at 4:30 and there's frequently a line to get in the door. An employee once suggested that we show up around 5:30 or 6:00. She explained that people will go right when they open or they assume there's always a line, but generally there's not much of a wait after the 4:30 parties have left. We tried this once and were seated right away! The food is amazing! The fried pickles are perfectly seasoned and crunchy. Also, they're pickle chips, not spears. This makes a huge (awesome) difference. The ranch sauce is light and creamy. Everyone I've ever gone with always raves about the burgers being some of the best they've ever had. I generally go for the grilled cheese, which is always crispy on the outside and gooey on the inside. Your choice of 2 cheeses! Chomp, if you're reading this: please put the chicken and waffles sandwich on the menu for good! I know some people who would want to eat that sandwich at least once a week! read more

This place amazes me- every single time! The menu was updated and we tried both the Duck Confit Bao and Mini Stuffies (new appetizers). Both were AWESOME! If you have not been since these apps have been added, it is time for you to return. The burgers and sandwiches have been adjusted a bit to add a new spin to some of the favorites. I stuck with the bacon burger which now had a new twist of jalapeno cheddar spread instead of the typical bacon jam. Don't worry...It was still just as good. Went here last night with my fiancé and I'd say it's pretty great. I got the chomp hot chicken sandwich (get the sauce on the side.... It was really spicy) and she got the smash burger. We were both very pleased with our choices. The fried chicken on my sandwich was amazing! Nice crunch on the outside. But so moist on the inside. The burger was super tasty and juicy as well. The sauce on it paired perfectly. Also, my fiancé never eats pickles but she ate the pickles on her sandwich! The are very mild and not to vinegary. Fries were great. We paid 3 bucks extra to sub one of the sides for Mac and cheese but found the Mac and cheese to be pretty underwhelming. Not bad tho. Tasty, just not BAM! The waitress, Avery, was super nice and gave me that tip about the sauce on the side of the sandwich which saved me from not being able to feel my mouth at the end of the night.
