This place is tiny, and it fills up quickly - we visited on a Tuesday evening and luckily grabbed a seat! But my goodness, the food was top notch, absolute quality. We started with fried pickles, which were very good, even though I don't care for the dipping sauce that usually accompanies them. I ordered the hot chicken and our fantastic waitress warned me it was VERY hot, and offered to put the sauce on the side. So glad she did. I dipped a fry in it and that was enough for me! My table mates all had burgers and our waitress was very helpful with suggestions. Everyone absolutely devoured their food. For my part, the chicken was very well fried, the coating didn't slide off, the chicken was juicy, and it had all of the lovely fried flavor without the thick, messy grease that often accompanies such a dish. We were never rushed, the food came out quickly, and the drinks were also delicious. It so exceeded my already high expectations and I can't wait to go back! read more

A friend told me about the restaurant and showed me their Instagram page and I was drooling, looked forward to trying the burgers! When we arrived there, we were told it would be 25 mins to be seated so we got drinks at the bar but then seated within 5 minutes of getting there. The bartender was great btw. When we were seated we asked if it was possible if we could sit outside and the hostess said "no it's not." So I thought to myself ok this must be a reservation type establishment. After 4 minutes go by the waitress with the patch on her right arm comes by and asked "if we know what we want?" and we'd like another minute. A few minutes go by and she asks again "do you know what you want yet?" Ordered a chipotle burger and steak sandwich. Took less than 10 minutes for the food to come out. When it did come out my burger was served to a perfect doneness, the flavors were somewhat there but kind of bland however was halfway falling off with the fried egg broken on the platter. 2nd visit here. Doors open at 4:30. Parking lot holds maybe 12 cars max. I get here at 4:15 to secure my spot. Seating is also limited. Eight tables inside plus the bar. Seasonal outdoor seating. Unique burger menu. Tonight I had the 4.5. I assume that stands for 4.5 lbs. A beef patty, a pork patty , spicy Mozambique chicken breast, bacon, cheese etc. plus a huge pile of fries . The fries are hand cut & crispy delicious but they were over salted badly tonight. The burger was cooked a perfect medium as I requested. I tried a couple of beers I wasn't familiar with and I didn't like either one of them. Bad after taste on both. It's a matter of taste. I made the mistake of not asking for our server from a previous visit who was amazing. She was working so "my bad." Our server was a hostess the last time we were here and we were on the receiving end of extremely rude behavior. Now she's our server and she's trying really hard to be professional. This is the perfect place for burgers and drinks after hitting the beach. Everything we were served was dripping with sauce, from chicken wings to crazy stacked burgers even to the salad dressing on the salad (mine got a little soggy). Everything was delicious and incredibly indulgent. Decadent even! The staff is nice but not particularly friendly. And don't forget to bring your IDs! I unfortunately misplaced mine so despite the fact that I'm in my 30s and have my Brown faculty ID, I couldn't be served (I understand. Sort of). The manager said they don't even serve 50yearolds without an ID (which seems just plain silly but maybe there are a lot of older looking grey haired 19 year olds these days...) What a cool place! It is small so beware, if you don't come early you may wait a whole. We came early and were able to pick a seat- high too in the bar area. The service was great! Shawn the bartender have me info on the beers they had for selection which are always changing. I went with cabin fever- delicious caramel brown ale mmmhmm. The menu is standard pub/burger joint but you won't be disappointed. Try the Frickles, friend pickles with a buttermilk dill ranch sauce. The best I've ever had! I had the house burger- smoked Gouda, crispy bacon, Dijon sauce on a toasted buttered bun. Nothin bad to say about it! It was delicious. They give you the choice if greens or fries which I enjoy. Ya know sometimes you want to be good but shouldn't have to pay more for it! When we were leaving around 7 the place exploded, the bar was packed and there was a 35 minute wait. Really - the place we've been waiting for in East Bay. Great beer selection (constantly changing!), decent wines and great cocktails (their bartender is a great guy as well.) The food is just great as well - although not for anyone on any sort of diet. Basically a burger/sandwich joint - they seem to rotate their sandwich options almost as much as their beer list. Any of the Asian themed sandwiches I've had have been GREAT - KimChi Beef, Porchetta BahnMi - just SO good. The wings as well - Salt & Vinegar? Try em - you'll like it. House made ketchup is great - but its more a specialty sauce than Heinz tomato ketchup. Small - and it fills fast - so be warned if you go during prime time, you'll wait. Maybe not for everyone - you need to like taking little risks - if you expect the ordinary you'll likely be disappointed. And I'm sure at some point I'll try something that "misses" (everything can't be perfect) - but I haven't yet. 5 stars because this place is right in my wheelhouse. read more

We have been wanting to get to Chomp's and made it there tonight. We knew we would have to wait on a Friday evening and we did wait but only about 15 minutes. We received a nice greeting upon arriving and our server was also very nice. We had to try the frickles and liked them very much. They were not at all greasy and have a unique taste. All four of us had burgers and they were cooked to the doneness requested and were very good. So why not 5 stars? None of us liked the homemade ketchup (seemed to have lots of anise) and we were surprised when the bill came we were charged $2 for each refill of our club soda. Maybe we have been spoiled by other restaurants which do not charge for the refills. We will surely go back and when we do if we do not order beer we will stick to tap water. read more

We had an elusive night out without the kids and decided to try somewhere new. I had heard of Chomp and wanted to try it in the past, but it was usually during lunch time, which they are not open, so we finally had the opportunity this evening to give it a go. The server took a few minutes to come over but was extremely friendly and once we ordered our drinks she was back almost immediately. As mentioned, we were there early so the proximity to other diners wasn't of issue until halfway through our meal another couple was seated at the table right next to us. It was odd as the man kept singing the songs that were playing through the speakers at a volume that was a bit too loud...however, not Chomp's problem....just weird people. I ordered the regular burger (can't remember the name) but I substituted the gouda cheese for pepperjack....great move! I was also a bit surprised with all of the sauces they offered, so I basically tried all of them. I didn't love their regular ketchup, but the mango ketchup was really good. The hot sauce was just okay but the BBQ sauce was fantastic! The burger, bacon, cheese and bun were incredible. The meat was obviously freshly ground and the bacon was nice and thick. The french fries were amazing! They seemed to have been double fried and nice and crunchy! The beer selection was very nice. My wife had the pear cider beer and I stuck with my old Chicago Lagunitas IPA (yes, I'm aware they are based out of NorCal, but have a brewery in Chicago). I look forward to the next visit back to Chomp and suggest you get there soon! read more

Given two stars only because the food was decent. We made a reservation for Friday night at 630. We arrived around 615. We were stopped in our car as we entered the parking lot and was told to park up the street in the day care parking lot. The lot they had at their establishment was for pick up only. We were seated and almost 15 minutes went by before anyone even acknowledged us. When I told the waitress who finally arrived that we have been waiting for a while for someone to at least acknowledge us, she seemed unaffected by it.. she took our drink order and left to get water. Once she gave us our meals we did not see her again. No return to see if we needed anything or if it was cooked to our liking..nothing.. Another waitress gave us our check and we left. I will not be returning to Chomp and I'll use every social media outlet available me to let others know about the poor service, and I have a BIG mouth. read more

I have already been here twice and hope to go again. The freckles are to die for. Home made fried pickles. The maple wings smelled and tasted like sunday morning breakfast. The burgers, well....the bomb! The bacon burger had slices of bacon almost as thick as the burger. My husband had the sloppy joe and I thought he was going to fall off his chair it was so good. The second trip I tried the Cheeeeseburger. Two grilled cheese sandwiches surrounding the burger. everything tastes better with cheese. The food, oh man the food (especially the burgers) is always exceptional, I have not had a single dish here that I haven't loved. While I wasn't a fan of the house Ketchup at first as I'm not a big anise fan, it has grown on me and I actually really like it as a departure from the condiment we so often take for granted. Beer selection is great and changes frequently. The Bacon me Crazy burger is just stupid good. I do miss the Chicharones but the Maple Bourbon Bacon wings fill that void for the most part. The only reason I don't go here more often is because there is usually a considerable and we'll deserved wait. I recommend this place to everyone I talk to. read more

I absolutely love this place. I went here for the first time last night and was not disappointed. Great atmosphere, great food and a great drink selection. Before visiting the restaurant I heard about the "Frickles" so of course I had to order them. AMAZING. I never had fried pickles before and my mind was blown. For my entree, I got a little adventurous and ordered the Mac & Cheese burger. Whenever I go out to a restaurant and order a burger it's usually the house burger, but since I was at Chomp, I felt as though I should have taken a risk. This burger is absolutely amazing. First time at Chomp and I enjoyed it very much. The food was all amazingly delicious - every bit of it. And the staff was great - really great. Especially the bartenders. However, I have to remove one star, partly for the wait (it did take a while to get a table), but mostly because the full bar isn't really "full bar". Their liquor selections are very abbreviated, and their wine list is basically non-existent. While it is true that they are a craft beer place, and they excel at that, if they went deeper and put a bit more thought in on the liquor selections and the wine list - even just a bit deeper - I'd be giving this place 5 stars all day long. read more

I checked out this restaurant after seeing it on Chronicle. It's smaller than I was expecting but we found two seats at the bar. The frickles (fried pickles) were good and the dipping sauce with dill was very fresh tasting. I got the house burger, which was tasty but I guess I wasn't as blown away by it as I was expecting to be. Definitely yummy, but not exceptional. I tried a delicious cranberry cocktail that had fresh cranberry purée in it muddled with lime juice and vodka. The bartender was friendly and the restaurant had a cool, industrial feel to it. This may be the best burger place in New England. Not only do they serve the best burger I've ever had, but the appetizers (my favorite is the bao), the wings, sandwiches, and salads never cease to impress! It is a very small place and they do no take large parties, but you can still get takeout if you aren't willing to wait for a table. They even make their own ketchup, which is delicious. I'm a foody my food history and experience is way beyond most can even wrap their head around lol so I really hope that the chef can take this as constructive criticism. Todd English is a friend Robbin Hass, Norman Van Aken, Mark Miller, Chef Allen, Johnathon Eiseman, Michael Schwartz, Kerri Simon are all previous employers and or friends of mine so my list of celeb chefs is lengthy so again please!! Chef take these comments as constructive and make the changes and you will be hands down one of the best restaurants around. The bun on the burger was down right the worst thing that hit the table their are plenty of Brioche buns to buy do the work and change them or heat and griddle the one you have anything but stop serving that bun ASAP. The ketchup is fair needs to be thickened and refined it's almost their just seems like it's half way their. Pass it through a chinois or something then reduce it and thicken something IDK just do something with it. This is all I have to say negative noting major and still gets a 4 star from me. It's only a bun to be honest and believe it or not it was the only deal breaker for me. Nice work Chef!! No one will be disappointed here so don't get down on this review food is incredible really it is!! Chomp has amazing food and really great service. The restaurant is small but very nice . The size adds to its charm. There is a nice outdoor seating area as well. It has craft beer and great selection of food. I'm vegetarian and I love this place. One thing..why I gave it a 4 star review...I saw an employee touch my food in the back room without gloves. She was processing payments and most likely didn't at least wash her hands. No one should be touching food without gloves. This REALLY put me off. Because of their limited hours you get great service from both servers and mgmt. Everything is homemade and they are not fucking around about that. They even make their own ketchup and I think judge you pretty hard when you opt for the Heinz. The interior is really nicely done but terribly small. My friends and I became obsessed with this restaurant after just one visit. It's a pretty small place with indoor and outdoor seating (we opted for outdoor because it was pretty busy inside), but I'd say sitting outside is deffo worth it. We only had to wait about 5 minutes for our table, despite the place being pretty packed. We got the Frickles as an appetizer - I didn't have any but my friends confirmed that they're amazing. Basically everyone at my table ordered the Mac & Cheeseburger with fries (including myself), so I can't vouch for much else...but trust me when I say it's worth it to go here JUST for this burger. Everything about our food was pretty much perfect, really. To sum it up, amazing food, a great atmosphere, and just an all-around nice vibe at Chomp. How have I NOT reviewed this place!? We go here frequently. Especially in the summer they have nice outdoor seating. It is a small place inside during the winter but cozy, and the vibe is always really good. The burgers are top notch and they have so many different options. We always get the Bao appetizer. I've had Bao many places and even though it's a burger place Chomp does it right!!!! Good beer choices and yummy mixed drinks. If you haven't escaped to Warren to try this place out. You have to. It will immediately become a place you always think to go back. The in house ketchup is very different. It has anise in it. If you don't like that, they will happily grab you regular! Love Chomp!!! Also the parking lot is small so I've heard people complain of that, you can park for free at the kindergarten/child care place about 50 feet away. I'm torn between 3 and 4 Stars here. Cute spot with a good vibe, excellent service, great burgers, perfect mac and cheese, reasonably priced. The down side was the beer list. We had high expectations for the beers given their pop-ups with a certain top local brewery, but couldn't find anything we liked and were surprised at the number of 'easy to get' beers. We'd recommend it for burgers, but recalibrate your expectations for top quality craft beers. read more
