Chomper Cafe is located away from all of the fast food joints, which is good because the quality of food is far superior. I went there with my mom and nephew and was served by a charming waitress named Rainbow. She was so helpful, friendly, smiling and always there when we needed something. We always had full coffee and water. When the trio of cinnamon rolls came out our eyes grew big and mouths were watering. Wow, the cinnamon rolls were all soft, fresh and delicious. I'm a wanna be cinnamon roll connoisseur, and these are highly recommended. The density and softness of the roll in combination with the icing is the best I've ever had. No joke! All three of us ordered the chicken fried steak because it was highly recommended. It didn't let us down. The steak was so tender I could cut it with my fork. The gravy was delicious and all of this went well with the hash browns and eggs. So good! As we ate our tasty breakfast we met the owner, the cook, the bus boy....all of them were smiling, friendly and very helpful. It's rare to find a breakfast place that exceeds all expectations! I wish I lived in Coeur d' Alene because I would definitely be a regular here. Want to impress people, bring them here! This is one of our favorite breakfast & brunch spots! I'm so glad it's only a few blocks from our home! The food is all cooked fresh and delicious, with high quality ingredients and a great presentation. I especially love the Breakfast of Chompions (ha!), though I always end up taking most of the fluffy waffle with strawberries and whipped cream home for later! The portions are generous, and the atmosphere is friendly and casual. I almost hate to tell people about it for fear it will get too crowded, but I will because I want them to be in business for a long time! read more

Yum yum! This is a popular place so it's a good idea to show up a bit before they open. Tables fill immediately. The food is delicious! Today was my second visit. I ordered the spicy omelette (it includes German sausage and jalapeños, among other ingredients), and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Portions are nicely sized but not overly humongous. Coffee of excellent. I have never been before, so hubby and I decided to go try it! They told us 30-35 minutes, but it was much closer to an hour! We ordered two starters of the Biscuit and Gravy, not warm at all. The service was super slow, forgot about us, etc. He has Orange Juice and I had Apple Juice, just over $5 a glass plus refills cost the same. I had the Chicken Fried Steak, and it was burn to a crisp! I don't think we will be back. read more

I have never eaten here before but a friend of mine was treating me to a birthday breakfast and she mentioned Chomper. Sorry to say I will not return any time soon. While it is located in a really great park in the City of Hayden, and is surrounded by beauty, it was substandard in the presentation and quality of food. I chose to have a standard 2 egg breakfast with hash browns. The hash browns tasted like old grease! The eggs were okay and helped sort of mask the nasty rancid taste of the hash browns. But, the hash browns were also very dried out and too crunchy through and though. Not like a nice golden crunch on the outside. The wheat toast was dried out. And, sorry, but really? You really put jam in a plastic catsup bottle? My friend had oatmeal. How do you screw that up? By putting little plastic containers of nuts and brown sugar with lids on the side. I didn't ask how it tasted, but I was happy I didn't order that. The coffee was okay. No specialty coffee offerings. Not cool for a "hip" little local cafe. Get with the times! Then, the waitress poured regular coffee in my friend's decaf. She sure did not pay attention to her customers! I won't return. Not my style of quality food and presentation. read more

Only waited 20 mins. On a Sunday that is great. I wanted something light, so I got a Snow Crab Benedict. It had poached egg and tomato on an English muffin and was yummy. It was also twice the size that I could eat at one sitting. The coffee is always heavenly. I see that this place has quite a few fans. I am not one of them. Overpriced, overrated and underwhelmed are a few adjectives I'd like to toss out for your perusal. This was our second time in the Chomper Cafe... And like the first, I again ask (the wind)... Cafe? Mais non! Breakfast places abound all around the area and many of them are certain to be better than others.. I'm not a huge fan of the typical "American" first meal fare, preferring more fresh fruit and raw juices than greasy, heavy, sugary garbage with a side of chicken embryo and gallons of hot oily caffeine. I took a look at the menu and ordered lunch at 9:45 am.. There's nothing great about the offerings, but some novel paintings and hot sauce to keep things interesting. A nice burger with some fried onions and peppers, sans bun. Home fries (chomper style) were good. My partner had a mountain of french toast and some fresh jam in a squeeze bottle instead of the usual maple syrup.. Nice! Otherwise it was hot, noisy, busy and had a few too many children playing, running around going to the 'play area' and back again and again. Staff weren't very professional or attired for restaurant service.. Cooks in t-shirts and jeans, no hair control. waitstaff in whatever they threw on that day... And no one was smiling except for the owner.. She was very nice and seemed to be a good hostess, although we weren't on her list of "regulars" she was obviously fawning over. I'd like to say that I'd give them a third try, and have lunch with them, but they're not open later in the day and I really don't like the usual breakfast fare, the prices are above normal for the equivalent, and with so many other places to eat in the morning.. we probably won't be back anytime soon. read more

Great service, great food! My boyfriend got the BAT and I got the grilled cheese with bacon and avocado. The avocado was so fresh and green! The coffee comes with a cute mini milk bottle for the cream. We came in at 9am on a Sunday morning. It was a 10 minute wait to be seated and 40 minutes for our food to come. If you're looking for a place to leisurely enjoy your meal, this is it! The patio would be great to eat at for the warmer summer months. The decor inside was cute and original too. Love this place. Our table was almost twice the quoted wait but in summer they have outdoor seating making it better. They also have a park across the grass so I can take the kids while we wait. Cute atmosphere both outside and in. Food has always been fantastic and wonderfully priced. It is close to my house, making it convenient too. Had to flag down our waitress after quite some time and seeing other tables seated after us already ordering but so far that is all we've had to "endure". I would highly recommend :) read more

Arrived at 1:45. You close at 2:30 so figured we were good. It felt like we were a bother to the staff for coming in. Loud talking amongst the staff the whole time and it felt like we came in after it was closed. Super weird experience and all I kept thinking was how unprofessional it was. Food was average. Really don't understand the hype but wont be back. Wanted to like it because it's so close to my house. Please try to be happy that there are people who want to spend money at your restaurant and treat them accordingly. read more

Consistently good food, service is decent, delivered with good humor. They are always busy, and its easy to understand when the food comes. The wait staff is all masked and the protocol for keeping clean can be observed by the patrons, and seems decently comprehensive. It is on our rotation of regularly visited restaurants.
