Unfortunately, I need to update my review. Chompers started with a Bang ! Had nothing but praise but went downhill from there and hurtful to say but hopefully will go back to their former self. After a few months of excellent food, experienced some of the worst service. Up until last week, the last time visited was August 2015. That was due to waiting for a table when there were numerous available. Then we had to wait an additional 15 minutes before anyone even brought water and menus. We could have dealt with that except that we had young (8-10) children with us. Fast forward....I always have been a believer in second chances. Went a couple of weeks ago. Noon time but not busy and was seated quickly. EXCELLENT Service but I had probably one of the worst omelets ever. If it was truly a 3 egg ?? Tough and the ingredients leave much to be desired. ATTENTION CORNED BEEF LOVERS! I had a dish called the Irish Benny. It was eggs Benedict with corned beef instead of ham. The beef is in house slow braised and it was amazing. So tender and flavorful. We go here about once a week. Great food most of the time. Sometimes their a little off. Usually pretty busy and on a wait. They don't utilize a hostess so the wait list is ran pretty haphazardly. Not much communication as its the busy servers stopping on their way to grab food to deliver. read more

There's a lot of other reviews focusing on how much they've enjoyed the food here so I'll keep this short and sweet: great hands-on management and ownership that you can tell really care about their business and their relationship with clientele, a really diverse menu that puts a lot of other local eateries to shame, and jam so good that my children they would happily eat it for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A very family friendly establishment with a kids menu my rugrats love - there's even a separate menu for what they call Tiny Chompers for kids that are still at the gumming it and chucking it on the floor phase. ^_^ read more

Have been here several times. Drive in from the Spokane Valley. The food is always great, plentiful and reasonably priced. Probably one of the best tasting breakfast places in the greater Spokane metro area (I'm thinking of an area I am willing to drive for breakfast). Also, the coffee is better than most places. Been here a few times. I was there during opening week; was a huge disappointment, I was there for their first Mother's Day; another huge disappointment. So, lesson learned. Show up on a random Wednesday and it is a completely different experience. Servers are helpful and attentive. Food is tasty and ample. Not wild about their bacon; can't really tell you why, it has a very unbaconlike flavor. The house strawberry sauce is worth the visit. On a cold January morning some sourdough splashed with this ambrosia might make you believe summer is coming. Avoid the busy times, they haven't got that down, but if you can walk in and get a seat, enjoy! Try the strawberry sauce. read more

Waited one hour for our breakfast in a half full restaurant. Coffee tastes like crap bad aftertastes. Food was so-so. Don't let them fool you, home fries are just sliced fried potatoes. Biscuits and gravy are one of their claims to fame. The biscuit to gravy ratio is weak and so-so. Big cinnamon roll was nothing to write home about. The whole time being forced to listen to New Age music, which made people talk loud to hear each other over tunes.Price was on the high side on the average for other local restaurants in the area. As some of my dedicated followers may have noticed, I have recently deviated quite a bit from my traditional Mexican breakfast fare. In my time apart from my trusty breakfast burrito, I have given some other tasty items a try. The Chomper Cafe's cascading menu of mouthwatering items will appeal to any customer, and the special Cinnamon Roll French Toast caught me and my boyfriend's eyes on a recent brunch date. This item is the perfect culmination of two of my most beloved foods, and as my eyes fell upon this miracle of a breakfast I nearly cried in both excitement and joy. AND BOY did it meet my expectations. Like zooweemama this was a good one. This daring combination lit up my mouth and my smile with bite after bite of sweet, spiced, doughy goodness like none other. My other trips to this friendly spot have yielded just as bountiful of results, from potatoes to eggs and toast, its all good. This is most certainly one of the best breakfast joints in all of Coeur d'Alene, and in my opinion the superior breakfast choice in all of Hayden. This one gets a full five stars from me no doubt about it and that's saying something. Yum! There were 4 of us ordering lunch. All of us enjoyed our meals. The hash browns that accompanied my omelet were perfect! My husband tried the Chomper fries and was quite disappointed to get very soggy, oily potato slices. The waitress happily brought French fries to replace them and did not charge us. Our friends are chicken fried steak aficionados and could not say enough how delicious Chomper Cafe's version was! We will definitely come back the next time we are in town! read more

The only negative if you see it that way is a wait usually 15-20 minutes. That time can easily be used to talk to who you came with or strike up a conversation on the porch. Once you've ordered with Friendly staff the food comes fairly quick. Every thing has been very good with most impressive so far being the Pastrami Sammy and the Biscuits and are out of this world! The wait to get in was about an hour, no worries there it's a Sunday and that's understandable. Once we got in it was bone chilling cold and everyone in the restaurant was bundled up and trying to stay warm. We had 4 people and 2 orders we're missing things,things that were supposed to be subbed were not. The food wasn't terrible but nothing that I would go back for either, Especially for an hour wait. One thing I don't like about Yelp is the ratings I feel like we should just be able to share our experience good or bad and we each can make our own valid opinion of a business however I am so excited to give this place five stars. I will just start with the landscaping and the buildings they're absolutely beautiful we had a sear at the front counter and our servers name was Sarah I found out later she was the owner she was the nicest person in the world. She let us try three different types of hot sauce. All of the employees there were so eclectic I loved it they were all so different and unique. The menu was amazing I got a hippie sandwich with potato salad. The potato salad was honestly the best potato salad I've ever had with no crunchy nasty's in it. And the sandwich had goat cheese and spinach and it was just the most amazing thing and it melted in my mouth. But my highlight of all of it was the fact that my husband will never eat anything if it's in a squeeze bottle that the restaurant fills I made him try the raspberry jam and he did very reluctantly and he loved it and put it all over his toast it made me giggle inside. It was really funny and we had a good conversation about yelpers and South Park I cannot wait to go here again. read more

My parents were in town and we divided yo have lunch. We had been to chomper cafe before and really liked the food. Well, we got there at 2:00 and they close at 3:00. We figured there was still enough time. The wait staff was friendly to a point. They constantly mentioned how tired they were and we heard them tell other people they are not sure what was left in the kitchen. While we were saying they were sweeping around all the tables around us. Then they vacuumed on the upper part of the restaurant. Nothing like eating lunch to the sound of the vacuum cleaner running The wait staff on a couple of occasions were seen taking their hair down and flipping their hair around over by the beverage station. My opinion (and I have been a business owner) is the eating atmosphere should be the same for ALL customers. They didn't discount my meal because I had to listen to vacuums or have them sweep up dust around us while we were eating. If you say you are open until 3:00, then be OPEN until 3:00. We left restaurant at about 10 minutes til 3:00 and the closed sign was already up! While we had enjoyed our previous visit, this time was a bit irritating, and we won't be back for a long while! read more

My husband and I decided to give Chomper a try and I have to say we were both exrtremely disappointed. I had biscuits and gravy and asked for very crispy bacon. When we were served, my husband's eggs were runny, his potatoes were rubbery .... my biscuits were so heavy they were like corn bread and the gravy was cold. To top it off, the bacon was barely cooked. I took two bites and I was done. We will never, ever go back. And once you are seated and your food arrives, forget about seeing your server again until she gives you your check. There are much better places to eat than Chomper. read more

Third strike you're out! Went there for my last time today. Waited an hour for two people to be seated, waited another 10-15 minutes for our waitress to bring water/coffee and take our order. Second star is for how quickly our order came out, but maybe they should have spent more time preparing it. My wife's and mine eggs were runny and half cooked. Her 'seasonal' cinnamon roll was cold. We also had to flag down a bus boy to get our coffee refilled, as our waitress never came by until time to drop off our bill. I have had better food and service at Jack-in-the-Box! Next time the wife and I get the urge to go out for breakfast, we'll be going to Micheal D's....we're kicking ourselves for not going there today. read more

Not sure about all the great reviews. We went expecting to have a nice experience. My husband is a food service manager (and I also have experience in food service), so we are always sensitive to how hard people work in restaurants. That being said, this place is lacking - perhaps because it's still quite new. We were greeted in a friendly manner and waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The waitress seemed a bit harried as if she had too many tables. We were able to order our food in a timely manner and received our drinks in a timely manner. She also brought coloring pages for our two boys. The problem was how long it took to receive our food and how it was handled. The place was not very busy at the time, as it was after the main lunch rush (We had arrived a little after 1 p.m.) My husband ordered his sandwich with the coleslaw on the side, which shouldn't cause a lengthy wait in itself. The problem (it turns out) was that they forgot to leave it off, so they made the entire sandwich over without telling us the problem until after we received our order. When we got our food (45 minutes after ordering it), my burger was cold while my husband's was hot and fresh. My food had good flavor,but it was cold. I ordinarily would have sent it back, but we had already waited an extremely long time. Others were receiving their meals (and leaving) who had arrived after us. The manager came around and gave us a sample of a strawberry waffle while we waited for our food (which she was doing for everyone). We got NO explanation of why we were waiting so long for our food. The waitress seemed nervous and told us several times that it would be out soon. We never got a table visit from the manager asking if everything was okay or apologizing. The waitress apologized and comped a side order of fries we ordered. We should have gotten at least one full meal free for the time we had to wait (and the cold food)- plus an apology from the manager. We never complained, but I really wish I had said something to the manager as we were leaving. We will likely not go back, and we live just down the street from this place. read more

We've eaten here twice: once in-house when they first opened and once stopped in to order take-out a couple weeks ago. Sorry to say, we weren't impressed. Both times we were served by the owner, and both times she was totally nice to us but terribly mean to her kitchen staff in open view of the customers. I worked in restaurants, so I'm super sensitive to what's going on peripherally, but even my fiancé noticed it and said something (who never notices stuff like this) so I know it wasn't just me. Food was okay in-house (biscuits and gravy and chicken fried steak), but takeout was no good (fish and chips and biscuits and gravy). Fish and chips were super greasy and overdone with sad freezer fries and the B&G was completely different, with the gravy being far more smokey and peppery than the first time in-- and not in a good way, it was like someone accidentally doubled or tripled the spices. We had high hopes for this place as it's literally two minutes from our house. Maybe we will try again in a few months. read more

We had high expectations based on the reviews. The decor is very charming. We came around 830 on a Tuesday and there was no wait. Waiter was prompt with water and coffee. My fiancé ordered the breakfast of Chompions, eggs OVER HARD. He received runny eggs and only got 2 even though the menu says 3. We stopped another server as ours was nowhere to be found and informed him of the issue. His response was he would let our server know. It took a ridiculously long time for our waiter to come over and when the new eggs were brought over they were cooked exactly the same and again, only 2. They also forgot the toast that comes with the meal. Servers need to check the accuracy of the orders before serving to customers. Major let down... read more

We heard a lot about this place, so we decided to give it a try. When got there, the line wasn't too bad, two parties ahead of us. We were told the wait would be ten minutes. 20 minutes later, we were seated. Our party included my wife and I and two other single people who asked for separate checks, three in all. The server, after about 10 more minutes, took our order. Nearly a half hour later, we were still waiting, noticing others around us were getting their food even though they had been seated and ordered after us. Okay, no big deal, they're busy. We finally asked a passing hostess if our food was ready and she said she'd check. She came back with it immediately. As it turns out, it had probably been sitting there for some time, because most of it was cold. One of the singles with us sent theirs back to be reheated. The other found the fries accompanying the hamburger to be hard, and not very good, and told the server. Mine was fine, as it was only pancakes, eggs and bacon, difficult to mess up, but the eggs were cold. Apparently, complaints about the food, which I thought were civil and justified, upset the server, because we almost never saw her again after that. We were offered no more coffee, and the rest of our party got up to leave while I sat there waiting to pay the bill- which our server had placed on one bill rather than the three we asked for. Almost another ten minutes passed with me sitting there holding the bill and my card in plain view of anyone who passed by. Finally, a server from another section asked if she could run it for me. I understand every place has bad days, so I won't judge it entirely on one experience and I'd be willing to,give it another shot. But if this day was representative of what to expect, I'd say they have some work to do. read more

Have previously eaten at Chompers food is ok and the waitstaff is amazing. This morning we waited for them to open and this guy waltzes in with his dog off leash and and they both take a seat in the booth. This was NOT a service animal, no service vest, no leash, trained service dogs lay on the floor. Since when is it bring your dog to breakfast day.
