The calamari was sweet and tangy while the breading remained crispy while the escargot buttery and flavorful. For a main I had the surf and turf, both of which were seasoned and cooked to perfection. Something about steakhouses that make me forget to take pictures...Or maybe it was the bourbon. From start to finish, we had an excellent meal. The tuna appetizer and focaccia are perfect to share as a start. While there are great surf and turf combos, I went with just the ribeye. It was seasoned and cooked to perfection. Not sauces or toppings needed. For sides, the risotto is a must. And I will definitely be getting the Mac and cheese next time. We went on a quiet evening and had no trouble grabbing a spot at the bar, but I definitely recommend reserving a table ahead, because I know this place fills up quick. read more

Our supper club visited on a Saturday evening (6 of us). We had salads (wedge and HEIRLOOM TOMATOES AND BURRATA salad, and FILET MIGNONs. Steaks were cooked to perfection. We made reservations so we were seated immediately. Ok, let's get to the bottom line: EXCELLENTE'!!! You get Ruth Chris level (a good Ruth Chris anyways) quality. Atmosphere was comfortable (a little more casual than other higher end steak restaurants ). The sides (family style) were great. We had scalloped potatoes, asparagus, and Brussels sprouts. Everything was out of the park good, including the drinks, wine and service. This may be one of the best steak restaurants in NE Florida (in our humble opinion). Where to start with this restaurant. Everything was very delicious! I never heard about it but was very satisfied eating here. We started with the fried calamari, it was outstanding! They have a sauce you can put on it to make it spicy. You just try it! Also, the Brussel sprouts were really good too, good texture not too soft not too hard. I ordered salmon and it was good with the sides it came with, I honestly was stuffed leaving. The service was Good, the waitress was very fast for the most part. Went for a Ladies Luncheon Friday 7/18/23 and had a wonderful experience. We were served by Toni who was prompt and friendly. Their were 5 of us. Three had the lobster roll with fries and all enjoyed their food. One had a burger with fries and was pleased. I had Chile, lime shrimp with cilantro rice and corn cabbage slaw which I loved. The table had an app of deviled eggs that were nice. This establishment just started serving lunch on Friday but their Happy Hour doesn't start til 4 but they open for lunch at 11:30. We popped in for a date night ( with no kids!) and sat at the bar, on a Friday I was worried it would be too crowded, but it wasn't too packed at all...they have a great happy hour with drink and food specials, yes please to half priced apps! The wings and poutine were 1/2 off and so tasty!! Loved the wings, roasted first then flash fried so they were crispy, delicious! We were excited to try this spot with our sons' in laws who live in the area and suggested meeting there. We had not been since it transitioned from The Tree Steakhouse. I was born and raised on Amelia Island where the founder of The Tree grew up and went to school with my mother. Anyhow... on to the experience. They suggested Wednesday night for BOGO drinks in the bar. We were in! They shared that you can order from a bar menu but also from the full menu. They did warn that the seats are first come and there are no reservations for that area. We all arrived before 5:00 so getting a seat was not an issue. We all ordered adult cocktails and then decided on several orders of the Mayport boiled shrimp and the calamari to start. Everything was very tasty. For entrees, we actually ate light with a shared salad and baked potato for me, soup and salad for my friend, hubby had a burger with fries and shared the salad with me and the other friend had the lamb chops. We missed some of the food photos. Most of the food was rated good, not outstanding, but good. However hubby's burger was overdone, dry, and the bacon it was topped with looked like something for a salad. Bacon bits on a burger? A terrible presentation. The service was good, but again, not great. Slow at times though she was busy. I would go back and give them a chance to WOW me as it just didn't even come close on this visit. I really really wanted to like this place. I can tell it's a local hot spot and the ambience and look of the place is welcoming and could pass for fine dining just by the looks alone. Having had many opportunities to enjoy fine dining thanks to my work through the years I have come to expect and enjoy good quality food and will pay accordingly for the experience, this place has potential and for a less delicate palate it probably is great. They do have the main server and back servers just as many fine dining locations, they are polite and attentive so they get points and kudos on that. I ordered the filet Cooked medium and at the servers recommendation added the black truffle butter at an additional cost, all good I am assuming it will be divine; my steak comes out and the butter is rock hard solid atop my filet, I assume it will start melting like it has many times before at other steakhouses I have frequented.. I cut into my steak and it's not quite medium but nothing to far off, when I cut the second bite I was horrified to see it was fully rare, made sense why the butter wasn't melting. Not one to ever send my food back I decided I will take the steak to go and cook later at home so I move on to the side I ordered, Parmesan risotto, it was crunchy... no not Al dente straight up crunchy... again I will not send it back.. I don't say a thing.. just ended up having it to go. My husband ordered the panko crusted snapper, one would expect for it to be flaky and tender, this was hard and flavorless and had some sort of tendon, my husband mentioned it to the server who immediately called the manager and they took it away, he then ordered a steak and some truffle Fries, he stated his steak was perfection and the best he has had in a long time. His fries I did try and they did taste oily not the greatest quality in my honest opinion. I enjoyed a creme brûlée that was DELICIOUS-and my husband ordered a banana bread pudding that was actually not good and the bananas were Rock hard, sort of strange for a warm dessert. I do give points to the manager who later came by the table to check on us and casually mentioned had switch seafood providers and the fish was in fact hard.. I assume they touched it back in the kitchen. Will I recommend this place, no, would o go back, no, but either way I know they will be okay since they seem to have a good local following. Made a reservation here for my anniversary this last weekend and we were not disappointed. Walking in the hosts were super friendly and saw on our reservation we were there to celebrate. The table had a cute little card that said happy anniversary which was a nice personal touch. The server(s) were very knowledgeable and attentive...maybe too attentive. Couldn't take a sip of my water without it being refilled immediately. The food- it was amazing. We had the fried calamari as an appetizer and the sweet chili sausage was so good with it! We each had a 7oz filet and shared lobster mac n cheese and the crispy Brussels sprouts. Cutting the filet was like slicing through butter. It was so silky and delicious. The lobster mac was also so good! We also ordered the chocolate mousse cake and it was also very good. I had high hopes for chophouse thirteen but it was just okay. I came here when it was TreeHouse steakhouse a few years back and it was also a 3/5 and I was hoping that the new ownership/rebranding would be a 5/5 but it fell short. The crab cake was delicious but it came out a little cold (I did not send it back- not my style) I got the steakhouse trio which came with a 6 Oz filet mignon cooked medium, scallops, and shrimp. The scallops and shrimp had the same seasoning which over powered the taste of the shrimp/scallops which was a bit dissatisfying. The Filet mignon was just okay. My husband had the ribeye cooked medium which he said was delicious! We absolutely did love the sides. The asparagus had the most perfect crunch to it and the baked potato was great. Personally, I would not come out of my way to eat here again but I'm glad we did try it out! read more

Stopped in today for their Friday lunch with some friends. We were promptly greeted and seated at a very nice spacious table. Unfortunately, our hostess gave us the dinner menu as opposed to the lunch menu (while I am all for a good steak - I don't need a dinner sized ribeye at lunch). This issue was quickly corrected by our server who was attentive and able to answer the questions we posed about the menu. 3 of us opted for the steak burger with fries while our 4th friend opted for the ahi tuna salad (the tuna is cooked to order for the salad). I will say that the online menu has some items listed that are no longer available like the southern chopped chicken salad (I know bc I was going to order it and it is no longer available). All of our food came out well prepared and all orders were accurate in their completion. My burger was between a third of a pound and a half pound of ground ribeye cooked to order (medium for me) on a toasted brioche bun with cheese melted to the bun. The burger was topped with lettuce, tomato, pickle, and carmelized onion. Mayo, ketchup and mustard are served on the side. Fries were crispy and crunchy and paired well with the burger. My two friends enjoyed their burgers also but had better luck eating theirs by cutting them in half. They are a mouthful. One of my friends did mention that the server was slow to fill his soda. Our fourth friend got the tuna salad and really enjoyed it. It contained pickled onions, with fried wontons and fresh ginger on a bed of greens. She had no complaints. The business got busier as we ate but the tables are spaced far enough apart so that we were able to speak comfortably. The service remained on point as my glass never went empty and plates were promptly removed. Great option for lunch with friends, wish I would have taken a picture of the burger because it was amazing. This should be a 4.5 star review but that is not an option. read more

It has taken a while but this kitchen is now putting out the best food I have had in the Jacksonville area in years. Their food quality is second to none right now. My wife and I both had steaks. A friend invited me to meet her at Chophouse 13 for an early dinner. She said there was a reasonably priced bar menu if you ordered before 5:00 p.m. There are three "entree"-level choices in the bar menu--3 fish tacos, six chicken wings, and three sliders, each for $10. All three had something onion in or on them but I was able to get the sliders "onion-free" to avoid an allergic reaction to anything onion. I didn't know they'd come with fries so I ordered a goat cheese/beet salad to go with them ($16), and iced tea ($3). My friend ordered the sliders and the deviled eggs platter. I thought it looked great, even with onion powder in the egg mixture (so I couldn't have any). The food was tasty and sliders were moist (sometimes the smaller size makes them prone to be overdone). While our server offered my friend additional drinks (wine), she did not ask if I needed a refill of iced tea. At the very end she asked if I wanted a tea to go but I'd needed it ahead of that. I did accept the offer, however, for the trip home. I loved the salad and would order it every time (with a little less vinaigrette)! The one major issue arrived with our tabs--we were charged regular price for the sliders ($16). The server did get that changed but just be careful and check your bill if you arrive early for the bar menu items. I did appreciate that the server warned me about the onion content of the eggs and overall the dining experience was enjoyable. ChopHouse Thirteen was our first dinner out since being quarantined for 3 month plus my wife's birthday was a few weeks ago so we decided to do it big. We started off with Happy Hour in the Oak Bar which is every day of the week 4PM-6:30PM everyday of the week but Sunday (since they are closed). I started off with the happy hour old fashioned which is made with Four Roses Yellow Label for $6. Not to be confused with the Piggyback Old Fashioned. This drink was really the only reason for my 4 star review. It just wasn't good. You couldn't taste any of the bourbon just a heavy taste of orange. I then switched to just a bourbon and coke for $4. Could taste the bourbon a lot more there. For food we got the Bleu Cheese Chips which were great for $7 on happy hour. The Chips were fresh with plenty of toppings. You have to try them. We then moved to the Dining Room for dinner. Our waitress quickly came and asked if we would like anything to drink. Feeling fancy and not having dinner in a nice restaurant for 3 months I ordered the Macallan 12 Sherry Oak on the rocks for $17. There isn't much to say it's Macallan it's amazing and so smooth. For dinner I ordered the 14oz Ribeye cooked medium rare. Ashley ordered the Chophouse Trio for $44 which came with a 6oz Filet, 4 shrimp, and 3 jumbo scallops. We also ordered the Lobster Mac because who does love Lobster and Mac & Cheese. Our steaks came out and everything looked great. My steak was tender and cooked to a perfect medium rare. I loved it. I was a little jealous of Ashley's meal though. For sure the best deal on the meal because it doesn't tell you how many shrimp and scallops it would come with and we were shocked with how much. The Lobster Mac didn't disappoint either. Perfectly cheesy with plenty of lobster. Since it was Ashley's birthday dinner we got a free desert and of course went with the Crème Brûlée which was great.
