The first time we went it was great. The second time we went both my husband and I got very sick. We called and the manager said he would check the fish. He actually called back and told us everything checked out. It was impressive that he called back. The third time we went, the lady I was with had pork. It came the the table so undercooked it was scary... the server told us it was meant to be like that. ahhhh - no way! the chef came to the table - to apologize but explain that its the no way to "cook" pork. Um, this was not even pink - it was clear. They brought the same piece of meat back - but cooked. That's gross. At least bring a new piece now that this meat has been ferried back and forth. We ordered broccoli as a side and the server decided that small would be enough without asking us. (no big deal, but would have been nicer to ask, because we did end up ordering another portion which was more expensive). All in all - i won't go back. read more

Extremely disappointing. I used to love this place and came a lot. Definitely has gone downhill. Loud yelling people getting drunk mixed in with older regulars valiantly trying to experience the former vibe but periodically falling silent and turning their faces in disappointed shock towards the wild yelling, not yet aware the place has given up. Dirty plate, huge, perfect thumbprint already on my knife as it was practically thrown down in front of me. This is what a nice restaurant looks like when all the previous standards have gone out the window and it is well on its way down. I don't need to watch it fall any further. What a huge disappointment this meal was! We live in Los Angeles and dine out with our children frequently. My husband is here often for business. His office located in Mizner Park is in close proximity to the restaurant. He selected it to celebrate his birthday with the hopes that it would also be a great place to entertain clients. Sadly, it was not good. My son who is 11 said while the steak was enjoyably tender it was rather tasteless. Both of my kids ordered the filet off the kids menu and I asked for them to be prepared medium-well and only slightly pink inside. Neither one of them were cooked properly and came out quite rare. My son is a big foodie and was fine to eat it that way, however my daughters had to be recooked. My husband ordered a glass of wine that was finally brought to him after he was finished eating. It sort of defeated the point of having wine with dinner. My son had to wait 20 minutes to get a refill on his drink and then they brought two of them at once. Lastly, the banana cream pie which is considered a signature dessert was tasteless. It literally had no flavor. The Key Lime pie was pretty good but by that point we were over it. It appeared as though the crowd was mostly people having business dinners (translation...expense accounts) with lots of cocktails so perhaps our family birthday celebration was of little significance to them. When we are back in the area (since we have a second home here) and are in the mood for steak we will stick with Cut 432 or Abe and Louie's. However I'm guessing by next season this place won't even be around. My 6 year old gave it two thumbs down. read more

Ok this was my second time here and I figured I would write a little bit about my experience. When we arrived for a 6:30pm reservation the place wasn't that crowded. I wasn't sure why we were ushered to the back of the restaurant near the kitchen. Sometimes that can be a good thing but not always and tonight it was not such a good thing. I ordered an order of stone crabs and thought they looked great while I was staring at them from our table. I could see the sous chef who was in charge of cracking the crabs. As I sat there watching him cracking them and smelling them I realized that this wasn't going to be the best crab I have ever eaten and I was right. He had cracked and thrown out a few crabs before plating my order. I had already made up my mind that I wasn't going to be happy with this dish and when they were served to me I did the same thing the sous chef did... I smelled them. Sure enough they were gone in a heart beat. Why would you serve smelly crabs? Maybe I wouldn't of been so fast to send them back if I didn't witness this whole process. We then had a wedge salad which was fine, nothing great. Then we ordered the 40oz. porterhouse steak. When the steak arrived it certainly didn't look like a 40oz steak but it was pretty good. Really nothing special. We had to order another steak to make up for the lack of meat on the 40oz. porterhouse. The rib eye looked like it had more meat on it than the so called 40oz. We had a side of parmesan truffle fries and a side of lobster mac cheese. The mac and cheese was no better than a box of velvetta mac and cheese and there was very little lobster in it too. For dessert we had key lime pie and some truffle brownie. The truffle brownie was better than the key lime pie. I have to say this meal was just ok. My husband seems to think that the highlight of the meal was the bread basket. I have to say they did have great little pumpernickel onion rolls . There are way too many good steak houses in Boca Raton to go to. This one is probably not the best one but it sure was packed when we left. As good as it gets for me at a steakhouse. The restaurant is just what i like about a true steakhouse-wood paneling-elegant and good service. Noise level was great as compared to their sister resto Lobster Bar Sea Grille which bordered on intolerable. Granted we were there w the early bird crowd but we were promptly greeted and seated. The waiter was informative but unfortunately got lost for a bit after the water. He helped with our wine selection which turned out to be quite excellent. We had appetizers and everyone proclaimed them to be perfectly flavored-tuna tartar was flavored with enough notes not to fall flat-seafood ceviche was balanced correctly with the hint of sweet from the mango-chop salad was made exactly to a diner's request. The star of course were the bone-in ribeye steaks which were probably the best I've ever had at a local steakhouse. And I've tried almost all of them even NY Prime-which usually require some helping of worchestershire or salt. They were cooked to perfection, juicy and seared under their broiler to char the surface. Seasoned without butter as RUTH's Chris with enough salt to enhance the meat. One diner had the pepper filet which she proclaimed to be the "best" albeit it sat on a slice of potato that seemed to be almost an afterthought and probably should be excluded. All of our sides were flavorful and not the typical sides mush. The Lyonaise were crispy-the mushrooms were not oversalted-the parmesan truffle fries not greasy etc etc. We could not even consider desserts but the coffee was also strong and flavorful. Our waiter seemed to then just disappear once the bill was paid-but we were satiated so all was forgiven. read more

Found this establishment on the internet while traveling alone in the Miami area. Stopped in with no reservation. A gentleman greeted me warmly and promptly found me a table in the bar, the atmosphere of which was excellent. Live music of easy listening- not too loud really enhanced the setting. Pedro was my server- very attentive and prompt. I had the best manhattan I've ever had! Lobster bisque was exquisite- followed by enormous prawns which were equally so. they erred in preparing my wedge salad but Pedro noticed it himself and quickly corrected it without noticeable delay. The deep fried lobster tail is the best thing I've ever eaten in my life :). Great menu, excellent service, drinks were great. Everything from the hostess, great waiter service and a nice conversation with the manager made even the best dinner we have ever had even better. The service disappoints but the food was very very good. We had a reservation for a party of 8 and it was a special occasion. They were aware. After telling us they were ready for us and the hostess would take us to the table were were still waiting in the tiny entrance 20 minutes later. And the host at the front seemed to avoid us. He glanced a couple of times and said we will seat you now but we still waited. The hostess then stands there and sorts the menus at a snails pace. We are finally seated and it takes another 8-10 minutes (I timed it) for a waiter to even come over and ask us if we would like water or a cocktail. He mentioned being behind and just getting caught up. He seemed to do the best he could but did not seem equipt to handle a party if 8 in addition to the other tables I saw him attending. No one helped him. No one came by to see if everything was ok. We finally got water. Bread came to the table just before the dinner. The only saving grace was that the food was excellent. But for that price you expect outstanding attentive service as well. We even had to ask for wine glasses as the keen sat on the table in the decanter as appetizers were coming to the table. I think our waiter was just overwhelmed. I have never been to a high end restaurant with a large party that does not team up waiters so people have food and service in a reasonable timeframe. Our bill was over $1000 with the wine and cocktails. Much more is expected. This is the last time we will celebrate an event at Chops. There are too many restaurants in the area whose food is as good but the service is also superior. But again everyone was very happy with the food Maybe they aren't set up to handle large parties. read more

let me start off by saying this is definitely one of the worst experiences I've ever had anywhere. the waiter Walter was ridiculously rude. we were a party of seven. so a bill of that magnitude comes with gratuity included. he didn't want to be there at all and made it very well known. didn't listen at all. we were also served cold steaks... he also rigged the bill to have the bill split into three as requested, but only showed included gratuity on one check. and didn't explain it to the other card signers. really bad experience. very sorry for bringing my party here and spending the amount of money that we did. if I could leave less than one star I would. read more

Terrible experience. I reserved a table at the bar. When the host showed me the table he told my wife and I that it's ours and then 2 mins later the other hostess gave it away. Instead of apologizing he was absolutely rude and said "it's Saturday night, this is what happens". Didn't do anything to try and seat us somewhere else either. Last night three couples spent $600 for dinner the craft beers which they talk about on their menu does not have a menu and is basically 14 or 15 different brands that only come in a bottle including Bud Light and Miller Lite one of the steaks which was ordered medium rare came back medium was sent back came back raw and when we asked it to be cooked a little bit more came back meedium again which we ended up keeping, but they did comp that. The waitress forgot about us several times but the other support staff was excellent. For the amount of money this restaurant charges it is certainly not worth it I could have had just as good of a meal at the outback for a third of the price. read more

We went to celebrate our anniversary. Very accommodating on the telephone to adjust our reservation as we expected to be a bit late though we ended up arriving on time. The service was impeccable from the valet to the waitstaff. Christopher was so spot on with every knowledgeable detail and is extremely personable. Will request him on our next visit. Amazingly fresh and well shucked oysters & clams. Delicious lobster bisque. Entrees were cooked to perfection. I had 2.5lb lobster which was probably the best broiled lobster ever! Just right! And husband had surf & turf. Both also cooked perfect. The most amazing brussel sprouts w/ mushrooms ever. So simple but great. Very good quality and fresh ingredients. We ended the evening with a surprise dessert Chris brought for us which was quite yummy. Looking forward to our next dining experience with them. read more

We decided to do NYE closer to home this year & booked at Chop's. We arrived a bit early for our reservation and were seated promptly. We asked for our son's entree to come out asap because he was beginning to fade when we arrived. The staff was great getting it out. My wife and I split the wedge, which was cold and fresh. Our two ribeyes came out. My medium was closer to a mid-rare and, when requested, was quickly replaced along with one of our sides (great move) but my wife said that although her medium was perfect in the middle, the outside of her prime steak was charred pretty badly. The mac & cheese was good, the truffle fries were very good, the tots were ok and so was the spinach. I really enjoyed my second steak but my wife said she much prefers Abe & Louie's. The banana pie was out of this world and my wife said the flavor of the key lime pie was spot-on but she wished the crust was a bit thicker. All in all, the staff was sweet and eager to serve. The kicker was just at the end of our meal when the older heavy-set man who was manning the hostess stand said to us three times in just two minutes (in the midst of my sneezing fit) that he hoped we enjoyed our dinner. Then he said would we like him to carry our son so we could relocate to the bar. With our passed-out young son?!? My wife finally asked if he was asking us to leave. His response was, "Well, you are done eating and we need the table." After spending close to $300 for our meals, this felt rude. Take a note from another local restaurant we visited many years ago..."Can I buy you a drink at the bar so you can continue your evening?" That is class. What a poor way to end a nice evening and year. FYI - I made the reservation in May which was over eight months in advance. read more

We went tonight for dinner with my family and my for my birthday, I can't begin to tell you how great Dennis our server was!! Not only was he on point and made sure that we had everything we needed. Recently discovered the restaurant in Boca. Took our friend, sister and 5 year-old niece for a birthday dinner. The decor was classy the food was first class as was the service. We are regulars at this great restaurant that offers great outside dining if you prefer a more quiet setting. Jack our server is always great, and recently he recommended the salmon served with an Oscar (Crab meat and hollandaise sauce) topping. I had just mentioned to him, that I really wanted to get back to eating salmon both because it's healthy and because I used to love it but had gotten tired of it. This solution has changed my life because now I can always order a Hollandaise or dill sauce on my salmon for variety. They always cook the salmon to perfection, as I prefer it cooked medium rare and many restaurants over or under cook it! Jack really listens and tries to offer suggestions of available options that may not even be on the menu. He recently told us about a 4 scallops appetizer in truffle sauce and he even told the price $24 without being asked! We ordered and it was brilliant! I rarely order specials at restaurants that do not give you the price, in writing or verbally upfront without you having to ask! This is mostly out of consideration for the host of our party paying the bill. We've all been shocked by a high priced 'special' that was very high priced and many times disappointing, as well. All the seafood is of the best of quality and freshness. read more

Something's wrong, as service was non-existent. Despite both a host and hostess, both were too busy with their friends to greet us. Host reluctantly showed us to our table, but failed to offer a wine list. Neither our server nor any other person ever inquired about our food. When it was tip time, our server said he saw we were enjoying ourselves so much that he didn't want to interrupt to ask how things were. We paid the bill. On leaving not one person bid us good night or asked us to return. Host and hostess were outside sharing a drink. For the money and locale, we were entitled to a gracious evening. Something's wrong. This was our second time at Chops. The first time our steaks were seasoned to perfection and we could not find fault with the experience. The second time we were disappointed for a meal that cost $480 for our family. All of our steaks were seasonless and bland. The steak quality was excellent but when you have to ask for steak sauce and really salt your food in a high end steak establishment, you are not doing well. The ceasar salad was over dressed and really tasted like many at other lower priced steak restaurants in town. I would not recommend or order it again. Our server-amazing! But, we will think long and hard before coming to this restaurant again for the price and taste of the $54 steaks. We feel burned this time and would not spend our hard earned money on average taste. It could have been who was in the kitchen on Saturday night, but there was a huge difference in our experience from before. The mac n cheese delicious and our desserts were also tasty, but Chops prides itself on being a steak restaurant so they should do better. read more

NY Prime, Morton's, Abe & Louis', Ruth's Chris, etc. I must say that the porterhouse that I had at Chops was the BEST that I have had! I really would love to try the seafood, but I don't see how I can ever pass on their steaks! Went to Chops last night. It is over priced and the food is not very good. Could have had a better meal at J Alexanders for half the price. Our waitress was nice but either totally in the weeds or not on her game. We were a table of four and none of us were happy with our meal. This place needs to step it up!!! read more
