Returned to Chopstix after not going for a month or 2. It was as I had feared after they initially opened. They have upped their prices by 30% or so, the General Tso lunch used to be $7.25 now it is $9.50 I believe. So prices rose significantly over the few months its been open. 2ndly, one of my favorite things about eating here, was the crab rangoon, it had a different outer shell than the typical Chinese restaurants. That is no longer the case, the last time, it had the same hard/crunchier, not light and crispy shell that I had fallen in love with the previous times. The rest of the food tasted about the same, but I don't see myself returning here often, or making this my go-to Chinese near my work anymore. Chopstix was good. A-okay just like a 3-star Yelp review. Not amazing or fabulous, but good. Service is fast and friendly. My husband never got an actual plate and had to eat off of his appetizer plate, so you know, there's that. The place is small, but we knew that, as we'd been to Malay Cafe, which formerly was in this space. The circulation isn't the best so be prepared to breathe in lots of cooking smells. This could be negative or positive depending on how you look at it. :) The food: Crab Rangoon was crispy and good, Fried Spring Rolls were good but very greasy and had an unusual taste (possibly cumin) that I'm not used to tasting in a spring roll. The entrees: Kung Pao Chicken, Honey Chicken, Broccoli Beef--all fine and traditionally Americanized. But the Lo Mein Vegetable Noodles...okay the most puzzling situation was with these noodles. They tasted like they were ketchup based or made with sweet and sour sauce and even had a red color to the dish. We could not for the life of us figure this out! I've never had noodles prepared this way so I suppose I'll chalk it up to originality. There were also some dill pickle chips served with the dish of noodles (yeah I actually meant to type dill pickle chips) so maybe it's just a family tradition. We did eat the noodles anyway so I suppose I'll just be satisfied with this odd but new experience. Also, for the record, I do eat pickles with my spaghetti so I won't judge. Overall, I'll try them again but maybe for the lunch special instead. After all, we did leave full, just kind of scratching our heads a little bit. read more

Kung Pao: a spicy, stir-fried Chinese dish made with chicken, peanuts, vegetables, and chili peppers. Chopstix serves up an awesome Kung Pao dish, enough spice, chicken and veggies. I travel a lot and found only two places in my field of work that do the same, a place in Tooele, Utah and a place near my home. Include Chopstix to my list of favorites. All three add just the right amount of veggies. Most add more fillers like green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and your chicken, the primary source for ordering, is limited. BTW, mushrooms and onions no good in this dish. Ensure veggies are diced small, chucks are no bueno. I'll be a regular to this location when traveling in/ out of KC, Missouri. read more

Chop Stix is hands down one the 'Best Chinese Food' to be found in Kansas City, MO ...and I could even tell you who the other one is. A no frills, strip mall restaurant that you could easily pass without ever really noticing it, but that would be your loss. The restaurant itself is simply decorated and the service is a bit shy, but if you are like me you go to a restaurant for the food and that's where this place shines. I hope this restaurant is around for a long time because great food is hard to find, and it's smack between a 'Panda Express' and 'Hong's Buffet' ...next time discover what great Chinese food really should taste like for yourself. read more

Although Chopstix has been open less than a week, it quickly became my new favorite Chinese spot in the Northland, and one of my favorites in KC. The restaurant is very clean, the service is quick, and the food was served hot and fresh. I ordered the lunch special with hot and sour soup, curry chicken, and fried rice. The chicken was tender and the sauce flavorful, but with a bit of a kick. I will definitely be coming back! read more

Ordered through door dash. I hate to be negative but the food was truly inedible. The entire order had a wet dog smell on it and the sampler was the worst of all of it...it had this plastic or chemical smell on it. I have no idea what it was, we didn't eat a single bite. I've eaten at this establishment 3 times. The first time was pretty good. The food was good for Chinese takeout. It was packaged nice and tightly and stayed warm. The second time I ate here, the food wasn't as good. The rice wasn't fully cooked and the chicken wasn't as tasty. The 3 time I ate here, which was a few days ago, the food was terrible. I actually ended up taking 2 bites and throwing it out. The quality of the chicken has declined so much in just the 3 times that I've eaten here, that I promised myself I'd never order from here again. They are very generous on the portion for their dishes. Generals chicken I had here is very crispy and the sauce here is just spot on . This place is very peaceful . It's a nice place to read a book or just have a nice conversation with your friends and family . Will be coming back soon! read more

Overall, the worst Chinese takeout ever. Pickup order at 6pm on Friday, 5/8. Ordered: Egg drop (cold, flavorless) Hot & sour (cold, sour) Chicken on a stick (amazing) Sizzling black pepper beef (beef was raw - coated in a lukewarm brown sauce, celery, onion ) I wanted to make sure I was right about it being raw based on it being textureless, so I rinsed off a piece in the sink - bright red... Peking shrimp (was deep fried - way way overcooked, no sauce on side ie sweet/sour shrimp with no sauce) Hot braised shrimp (way over cooked shrimp, sweet red sauce that was very thin with tons of onions) Jalapeño chicken (tons of zucchini, one slice of jalapeño - chicken itself ok) Overall, absolutely terrible. I had hopes of adding a new Chinese takeout place into the rotation with Iron Wok, Rainbow, China Wok. But this was the pits. Should have called to complain, but not worth the effort. Very average. I ordered the peppered steak with extra veggies and got celery.... I expected snow peas, broccoli or some other veggies.

Yum. This place uses good ingredients and not over salty. I had Kung Pao Chicken and it was nicely breaded and had a good sauce. I heard that this place does Springfield Cashew Chicken as well. Can't pick a favorite, but my top 3 are SPRINGFIELD CASHEW CHICKEN (the for real kind and yes I lived in Springfield for 10 years so I know the real from the tempura weird batter and sauce crap most places try to pass), Chicken Curry and from the new authentic menu the Spicy Cumin Beef... Tried this new restaurant today for lunch. Lunch portion was larger than expected. I had General Tso chicken and my husband had Triple Delight. Both entrees were excellent. Crab Rangoon was among the best I've had. Also had hot and sour soup which was not as savory as some I've had. I tried the stewed egg but apparently need to acquire a taste for this particular item. The young man who owns it is very personable and eager to please. I was glad to see several people giving this new restaurant a chance. Super fresh and hot spot on Barry Rd next to Pier One and near St.Luke's hospital. Ordered the Springfield Cashew Chicken, General Tso's chicken and the tour of Asia. Of course these are all very American Chinese, but super fresh ingredients and delicious. Not greasy and over cooked. Decor is lovely and service is great! Husband had General Tso chicken and I had chicken with snow peas. Also had egg drop soup. Every thing was fresh and delicious. Great service. Only wish they had a jasmine tea option. Pretty solid American Chinese food with all the old favorites. Great service and nice dining room. I had the Szechuan chicken and my companion had Kung Pao. The latter was better but both were good. If you're in the mood for classic Americanized Chinese food this is a fine choice. read more

We've had several amazing meals at Chopstix since their recent opening. The North East Pork is definitely a MUST TRY dish! And the Springfield Cashew Chicken is so delicious with lots of chicken, the right amount of sauce and those heavenly Cashews. We love this new restaurant! So many delicious meals to choose from. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, clean and comfortable. Also the staff are friendly, very attentive and great with special requests. We'll definitely be going back again. I'm not from Kansas city, so it may be the best Chinese food around here, but not the best I've had. It is good, but small portion sizes for the money. I bought a dinner size, but it looked like a small lunch portion. The spring roll was oily and the dinner was no more than average on flavor. read more
