Stayed at a hotel next door & decided to try take-out, indoor dining was also available. Beef & beef ball pho was packaged nicely with the noodle separated from the soup & meat. The bro had really great flavors, comforting on a chilly nite. Beef was acceptable & beef ball chewy. For some reason when we added the soup to the noodle the whole mixture tasted relatively bland. Weird. #12 BBQ pork & shrimp over vermicelli noodle was ok. The bbq pork was a bit disappointing, the meat itself was dry but coated in some kind of "bbq" sauce which was a bit overly sweet & salty. If u r looking for that smoky char grilled flavor & texture in a classic Vietnamese grilled pork, this is not it. I'm not overly familiar with Vietnamese cuisine, so I can't really comment if this was good or bad. We mainly chose this place because it had an entire menu section dedicated toward vegetarian/vegan food, and it was right next door to our hotel. We ordered noodles + vegetables, and spicy BBQ tofu. They were both fine. Nothing to get excited about, not hot or spicy, pretty middle of the road taste-wise. My favorite is Thai food and I like it pretty spicy, so compared to that, this was bland. But it didn't taste bad, that's for sure. It just wasn't up to my usual level of flavor, which in my opinion Thai food is very flavorful. Any other Asian cuisine besides Thai generally tastes bland to me, so that's my yardstick. I give it four stars because of the extensive section dedicated to vegetarian/vegan items. That's my number one concern when choosing a restaurant. The only weird thing about this place is the booth we were sitting in. See the photo, and check out the pole that is inside the booth, not allowing you to sit close to the table. The pole prevents the seat from being close to the table, so you kind of have to sit on the edge of the seat once you start eating. Came here for lunch, loved it and came back for dinner! The menu selection is pretty wide, delicious, reasonable, and very authentic. For lunch we had the Pho ga Chicken Noodle which did wonders for our stomach of getting seasick on the whale watching tour. Friendly and personable service and loved the Snow Bubba drink. We ordered Pho, Lemongrass chicken and pork spring rolls. Pho: Pipping hot, well seasoned, the veggies were fresh and the best part was the chicken which did not taste like "cardboard" as we have experienced from other places. Lemongrass Chicken: A little bit of sweet and spicy. I believe they use sweet chili sauce with it. The chicken, onions and other items in the dish were all good. The Jazmine rice was also cooked to perfection. Pork Spring Rolls: You get three. The veggies were fresh and the pork tender and well seasoned. The peanut sauce was also very good. There is a small private parking lot and curbside parking. Our server was ok. She did not do anything wrong but was just not as friendly as we would have liked (personal opinion). The spring rolls were a bit oily inside and they weren't consistent with the amount of protein. The peanut sauce had good flavor. The pho had rich flavors and the right amount of meat. The oolong milk tea was made with creamer and had zero tea flavor! Literally tastes like creamer and water with boba. Quite a disappointment. The passion fruit mango black tea was extremely sweet, tasted like syrup, and had no tea flavor either! Im glad we used the restroom on the way out because I would've lost my appetite had we have gone before. The floor was a puddle (looked like the toilet was leaking), dirty dark buildup around the sink, and it smelled like dog urine! It's a PHO place!!! Small and cute and even though it is small they have several seating. There is a private parking lot which you know makes me happy!!! So our order was takin right away but it took awhile for the food to come. They weren't that busy and we barely saw the staff. They have a pretty small counter with a kitchen in the back. They bring the food when it's ready but you have to go to the counter to pay so remember what you ordered. The PHO tasted like the standard PHO nothing special. But the chicken wings were really good. It tasted like Asian zing with a crispy twist!!! We also ordered Vietnamese coffee and it was delish! We were fooled by the many positive reviews and the awards. If you enjoy authentic vietnamese foods or have lived in San Jose, then do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. We ordered Bun Bo Que and some dry noodles, and man shit was sad. The presentation made tears drop from my eyes. There was a line to be seated, and the hostess came and took the names of everyone standing in line. There was this other family in front of us who left after they took names. Everyone else stayed in line. They came back calling the name of the family in front of us, but they left, after they confirmed they were no longer there, they then called our name and seated us at the next table availble. After we sat down and finally got our baby's car seat to fit in the booth after struggling a little bit and we had selected our food, and we were ready to order, the hostess came back and said that this one random guy was actually in front of us and she showed us the list. This list showed his name squeezed in between our name and the family that was in front of us in line. We were not sure where he came from or what exactly was going on. They made us get up with our 3 month old baby. We didn't want any trouble so we decided to leave and go somewhere else. We used to enjoy coming here frequently, but after that episode, I don't think we will be coming back. I just cannot believe they sat us and then had us get up and vacate our table. I have never heard of a restaurant doing that, especially like this. I think it worked out for the better because we went to the Islands Restaurant down the street in the Del Monte shopping center and we had a great experience there, the food is definitely better, they sat us right away, and it has a much nicer atmosphere. read more

Do yourself a favor and skip the 5 dollar foot long at that national chain and get yourself one of Chopstix banh mi sandwiches. For roughly the same price you get a crusty bread filled with protein, cilantro, carrots, cucumber and jalapeño. The spicy/sweet crunch is perfection! I've also tried their dry noodle bowls and enjoy the BBQ pork and shrimp bowl the best. At around 6 bucks, there is no better deal in town. This place was mediocre. The photos on yelp looked very promising but in really life, the flavor just wasn't there. We tried this place twice just to make sure they weren't having an off day. The first day we ordered pho and their papaya salad. The papaya salad was delicious!! Very unique and had different flavors that meshed well together like the daikon and the papaya. I really enjoyed the papaya! Now, the pho was subpar. I've had better pho in my hometown which is in the Central Valley. Their pho broth was very bland...no flavor at all. The meat portion was pretty good. But overall, we did not like the pho. Personally, the pho broth determines the overall quality of a pho dish and this place did not deliver. They also did not offer all the condiments that most pho places offer such as chili oil, shrimp paste, or nuts. We also ordered their coconut boba and Vietnamese coffee. I would say these are the stars of the shows! If you're craving boba, this is a great place to get them! Very creamy and flavorful. The coconut boba tasted like coconut wafers which I really liked! On to the second day, we ordered two rice dishes: 1) rice with Vietnamese pork 2) rice with lemongrass chicken And 2 Vietnamese sandwiches: 1) lemongrass chicken 2) bbq pork Once again, pretty disappointed. The rice dishes were once again bland. I will say that the lemongrass chicken does taste like the name of the dish. But that was the only flavor I tasted...lemon grass. The Vietnamese pork didn't have a flavor to it at all and it was a bit oily. The Vietnamese sandwiches was packed with meat but hardly any veggies. Usually you get a decent amount of jalapeños, cilantro, daikon, and cucumber. This place barely had any. The most disappointing of all was that there was no pate in the sandwich! A traditional, authentic Vietnamese sandwich has pate! Overall, the food was not flavorful and I wouldn't recommend this place or come back. Service was pretty good. i've gotten food poisoning there twice. When they first opened, the vegetarian spring rolls were Sufficiently large for the price. Now they're about 1/3 size and the only thing that changes...they've increased the price of them. The cooks smoke outside with their Latex gloves on.. the same gloves they use to cook the food with. I just can't anymore. No more Chopstix for me. Though it appears this chain has given up and will go out of business by the end of the year. They used to be a unique, happy, local, woman owned business with great food. I am now convinced that there are no cooks in these restaurants and that food is precooked for assembly by untrained staff. The food is never fresh cooked. It's hour and hours old and cold and mealy. A restaurant that is cooking food would smell good when you walk in. Further, what you receive is nothing like the menu description: herbs like mint and basil and cilantro are missing; order grilled shrimp, get boiled shrimp; order spicy; get bland; order extras or large size, pay for it but don't get it. Often the rice is not fresh. Really?! I'm also bummed that they always include the utensils and sauces even when you tell them not to. Wasteful and another display of their lack of attention to detail. So many bad reviews and not one reply from the business. It's located in the corner of Munrasa and Robles aves by the 1 PCH fwy in Monterey. We arrived today to grab a late lunch and one of the staff gave a perfunctory greeting. We sat the middle of the restaurant near the 50 inch tele. Indoor dine in was spacious, neat and odor free. We perused their menu and was flabbergasted by their wide spread food/boba list. We ordered pho's, shrimp rolls and boba teas. I asked for spoon and fork since Im not skilled enough to use chopstick. Lol. Hehehe. Their food were great and very flavorful.
