Came here for lunch, loved it and came back for dinner! The menu selection is pretty wide, delicious, reasonable, and very authentic. For lunch we had the Pho ga Chicken Noodle which did wonders for our stomach of getting seasick on the whale watching tour. Friendly and personable service and loved the Snow Bubba drink. Highly recommend if you're in Monterey for the weekend and craving Vietnamese food. read more

Walking in, it was a cute little restaurant, with a good amount of people for lunch. The menu had a lot of food options including vegetarian dishes. The service was quick but the food was meh. I got the stir fried chicken and it was greaser than a Costco pizza. The shrimp fried rice came with 1 shrimp and the whole dish was dry and difficult to swallow. The pho broth tested watery and the noodles seemed overcooked. I gave it two stars because the service was fast and the avocado boba was good. read more

Monterey is a "go to" for us and for some reason we've never tried this place until this time. I wish we would have tried it sooner because it was AMAZING!!! We ordered Pho, Lemongrass chicken and pork spring rolls. Pho: Pipping hot, well seasoned, the veggies were fresh and the best part was the chicken which did not taste like "cardboard" as we have experienced from other places. Lemongrass Chicken: A little bit of sweet and spicy. I believe they use sweet chili sauce with it. The chicken, onions and other items in the dish were all good. The Jazmine rice was also cooked to perfection. Pork Spring Rolls: You get three. The veggies were fresh and the pork tender and well seasoned. The peanut sauce was also very good. There is a small private parking lot and curbside parking. Our server was ok. She did not do anything wrong but was just not as friendly as we would have liked (personal opinion). My wife and I came here with our 3 month old baby. They sat us and then kicked us out of our seats, saying there was actually someone in front of us. We just left and went to Islands down the street, which was a much better experience. Keep reading for more details. My wife and I have come here plenty of times before and haven't had any issues, but I was appallad at what what happened this time. I have never had a restaurant do this. There was a line to be seated, and the hostess came and took the names of everyone standing in line. There was this other family in front of us who left after they took names. Everyone else stayed in line. They came back calling the name of the family in front of us, but they left, after they confirmed they were no longer there, they then called our name and seated us at the next table availble. After we sat down and finally got our baby's car seat to fit in the booth after struggling a little bit and we had selected our food, and we were ready to order, the hostess came back and said that this one random guy was actually in front of us and she showed us the list. This list showed his name squeezed in between our name and the family that was in front of us in line. We were not sure where he came from or what exactly was going on. They made us get up with our 3 month old baby. We didn't want any trouble so we decided to leave and go somewhere else. We used to enjoy coming here frequently, but after that episode, I don't think we will be coming back. I just cannot believe they sat us and then had us get up and vacate our table. I have never heard of a restaurant doing that, especially like this. I think it worked out for the better because we went to the Islands Restaurant down the street in the Del Monte shopping center and we had a great experience there, the food is definitely better, they sat us right away, and it has a much nicer atmosphere. read more

We were fooled by the many positive reviews and the awards. If you enjoy authentic vietnamese foods or have lived in San Jose, then do yourself a favor and eat somewhere else. We ordered Bun Bo Que and some dry noodles, and man shit was sad. The presentation made tears drop from my eyes. The foods tasted like disappointment, and I told my wife that her cooking was 100 times better at that moment. At least she was happy. In town and I craving spring rolls. We went and ordered the vegetarian spring rolls, 5B, oolong milk tea, and a passion fruit mango black tea. ($27) The food came out FAST! The spring rolls were a bit oily inside and they weren't consistent with the amount of protein. The peanut sauce had good flavor. The pho had rich flavors and the right amount of meat. The oolong milk tea was made with creamer and had zero tea flavor! Literally tastes like creamer and water with boba. Quite a disappointment. The passion fruit mango black tea was extremely sweet, tasted like syrup, and had no tea flavor either! Im glad we used the restroom on the way out because I would've lost my appetite had we have gone before. The floor was a puddle (looked like the toilet was leaking), dirty dark buildup around the sink, and it smelled like dog urine! It's a PHO place!!! Small and cute and even though it is small they have several seating. There is a private parking lot which you know makes me happy!!! So our order was takin right away but it took awhile for the food to come. They weren't that busy and we barely saw the staff. They have a pretty small counter with a kitchen in the back. They bring the food when it's ready but you have to go to the counter to pay so remember what you ordered. The PHO tasted like the standard PHO nothing special. But the chicken wings were really good. It tasted like Asian zing with a crispy twist!!! We also ordered Vietnamese coffee and it was delish! The downside to this tiny place is the restroom is outside near the trash so don't ask...yes it smelled. And the bad thing about it this is also where the front door is. read more

Food is mixed, depending on what you get. Spring rolls and fried egg rolls are good, but once you start with dry noodle bowls the meat is full of gristle and fat. No meat prep and it shows. Not much to say about service or ambiance but the food is a fairly large letdown read more

i've gotten food poisoning there twice. When they first opened, the vegetarian spring rolls were Sufficiently large for the price. Now they're about 1/3 size and the only thing that changes...they've increased the price of them. The cooks smoke outside with their Latex gloves on.. the same gloves they use to cook the food with. Do yourself a favor and skip the 5 dollar foot long at that national chain and get yourself one of Chopstix banh mi sandwiches. For roughly the same price you get a crusty bread filled with protein, cilantro, carrots, cucumber and jalapeño. The spicy/sweet crunch is perfection! I've also tried their dry noodle bowls and enjoy the BBQ pork and shrimp bowl the best. At around 6 bucks, there is no better deal in town. This has been my go-to Thursday before payday meal for years because I'm gonna get a lot of food to hold me over till payday and not overdraft my account!! read more

This place was mediocre. The photos on yelp looked very promising but in really life, the flavor just wasn't there. We tried this place twice just to make sure they weren't having an off day. The first day we ordered pho and their papaya salad. The papaya salad was delicious!! Very unique and had different flavors that meshed well together like the daikon and the papaya. I really enjoyed the papaya! Now, the pho was subpar. I've had better pho in my hometown which is in the Central Valley. Their pho broth was very bland...no flavor at all. The meat portion was pretty good. But overall, we did not like the pho. Personally, the pho broth determines the overall quality of a pho dish and this place did not deliver. They also did not offer all the condiments that most pho places offer such as chili oil, shrimp paste, or nuts. We also ordered their coconut boba and Vietnamese coffee. I would say these are the stars of the shows! If you're craving boba, this is a great place to get them! Very creamy and flavorful. The coconut boba tasted like coconut wafers which I really liked! On to the second day, we ordered two rice dishes: 1) rice with Vietnamese pork 2) rice with lemongrass chicken And 2 Vietnamese sandwiches: 1) lemongrass chicken 2) bbq pork Once again, pretty disappointed. The rice dishes were once again bland. I will say that the lemongrass chicken does taste like the name of the dish. But that was the only flavor I tasted...lemon grass. The Vietnamese pork didn't have a flavor to it at all and it was a bit oily. The Vietnamese sandwiches was packed with meat but hardly any veggies. Usually you get a decent amount of jalapeños, cilantro, daikon, and cucumber. This place barely had any. The most disappointing of all was that there was no pate in the sandwich! A traditional, authentic Vietnamese sandwich has pate! Overall, the food was not flavorful and I wouldn't recommend this place or come back. Service was pretty good. But the food ultimately dictates my return and sadly this place is not for food lovers like me. read more

Food is good any ready fast! We eat here when in the area and it's on par with our local go to in the east bay.

I just can't anymore. No more Chopstix for me. Though it appears this chain has given up and will go out of business by the end of the year. They used to be a unique, happy, local, woman owned business with great food. I am now convinced that there are no cooks in these restaurants and that food is precooked for assembly by untrained staff. The food is never fresh cooked. It's hour and hours old and cold and mealy. A restaurant that is cooking food would smell good when you walk in. Further, what you receive is nothing like the menu description: herbs like mint and basil and cilantro are missing; order grilled shrimp, get boiled shrimp; order spicy; get bland; order extras or large size, pay for it but don't get it. Often the rice is not fresh. Really?! I'm also bummed that they always include the utensils and sauces even when you tell them not to. Wasteful and another display of their lack of attention to detail. So many bad reviews and not one reply from the business. There's better Vietnamese food in this town and I'll be eating in those places from now on. read more

The pork in the spring roll was raw, completely raw! When we told the server, they said they could bring another one if we want, even after we ate almost most of the spring rolls! This caused us a lot of stomach problems and stress, due to the stomach issues we already have. read more

We were in group of five, so we had ordered, Udon soup(me) Plum slush, Pho 1.a, Green Papaya Salad(4 people eaten it), Fried Tofu, Hot Green Tea(person 1) , (Person 2) BBQ chicken Sandwich, Potstickers, Mocha blast; (person 3)Sweet sour chicken + House Fried Rice, Ice tea; (person 4) Number 10 from Dry noodle bowls and she asked for green tea but hot water device wasn't making it possible so she asked for hot water instead. Person 4 carries tea bags everywhere she goes. Regrets: Peanuts (Peanut allergy)(me) three people in family have healthy food is rare. I believe they were Friendly and attentive to our needs. Chopstix is an asian fusion Vietnamese restaurant that offer a wide variety of Pho, noodle soups, rice bowls and boba drinks. Bingo! It's located in the corner of Munrasa and Robles aves by the 1 PCH fwy in Monterey. We arrived today to grab a late lunch and one of the staff gave a perfunctory greeting. We sat the middle of the restaurant near the 50 inch tele. Indoor dine in was spacious, neat and odor free. We perused their menu and was flabbergasted by their wide spread food/boba list. We ordered pho's, shrimp rolls and boba teas. I asked for spoon and fork since Im not skilled enough to use chopstick. Lol. Hehehe. Their food were great and very flavorful. Similarly, the boba teas and slush and boba pearl were taste good. I enjoyed it! Service was on point. Serving was slightly above average. Prices were reasonable. Rear parking lot was available. I'm visiting Monterey for a few days and I was hungry for Asian food. I gave this place a try. I ordered the glass noodles with vegetables and tofu. It was a little busy and it seemed like it was taking more time than I expected. The hostess came by and asked me what I ordered and I told her. My dish finally made it and I was pleased. It was a delicious choice. It wasn't overly sauced or salty and I like it that way. I would recommend this restaurant. I'll be returning for more. read more

A happy day this week when I got my favorite Green Papaya salad and BBQ Chicken Sandwich at Chopstix Monterey. Both items were terrific, with all the advertised ingredients on them. Lots of flavor, and the salad had plenty of pickled veggies which added so much to the dish. The food was so much better it gives me such pleasure! The restaurant was packed which was a good sign. Thank you to management for having someone in the kitchen preparing the food at such a high standard. Loved it! read more

There's soooo many restaurants in Monterey but this has been the one my husband and I go back to over and over again. We've even taken almost all our visiting family here! The food is great and it's fast - great for when you are just hungry and need to confidently know you are going to enjoy whatever item you get from the menu. We have our usual favorites but we often get other items as well and have never been disappointed. It's no high-end restaurant so don't expect to feel like a million bucks with the service. They do their job and that's it. Not really a problem though, I go for delicious food and I leave with a happy tummy! One thing I will say that I don't like is the bathroom is pretty gross. But again, I'm there for the food and they never let me down in that aspect. I love that their vegetarian selection is huge! Big win as I'm vegetarian but my husband is not. We both find plenty of choices for both of us. The prices are so reasonable too, especially for this area. Good eats withoutbreaking the bank? CHOPSTIX!!! This used to be the go to spot for a bahn mi. Used to be. The grilled beef is listed on the menu available in two ways: lemongrass and barbecue. Makes no difference which version is ordered because they both will be prepared the same regardless, but neither as barbecue or lemongrass. Strike one Neither bahn mi ordered had any jalapeños. I spent my weekend in Monterey. Ordered the fresh rolls, chicken salad, and stir fry egg noodles with beef. The fresh rolls were fine. The chicken salad needs a little help. It's salty. If you use grilled flavored chicken in the salad, lighten up on the fish sauce with a bit more lime juice. If you use steamed or boiled chicken, the fish sauce is fine. The stir fry egg noodles with beef was bland. The cut of beef was so chewy, so either its the wrong cut of beef, cut too thick, or overcooked but inedible. The service though was great. Everyone was so welcoming, polite, and attentive. I'll give this place another try when I'm in town. read more

This place is ridiculous. I ordered a large Pho With shrimp and that's what I got one shrimp. The menu says (2) shrimp. The shrimp was sliced in half. Really? I would not recommend this place nor will I come here again. Not to mention the service was horrible. And the hot sauce containers are disgusting with flys all over the place. Yucky!
