I've seen a million Chopts from living in NYC and while the concept is cool and there aren't many places in WS that do this, it's really just not worth it. Do not use a credit or debit card here or on their app, if you must eat here which is really not that good, you can buy a better salad for much much less anywhere else and chop it yourself. I tried to use the app which failed multiple times, then proceeded to charge me $65 for 2 salads and when I went there they said I ordered them, but admitted it was a clear mistake. I contacted the app admin, who also administers their POS, they threatened me that if I dispute the charges for product I did not order or receive, they would fight my bank and keep it in arbitration until I gave in and paid them the money they stole and are now trying to extort. Not only did they steal my money, but they are threatening to take legal action against me if I dispute the charges. Do not go here they are thieves of the worst kind. I just had the worse experience at this Chopt location. The manager is who prepared my salad. Yes, it is lunch time and they were decently busy (a line about 5/6 people deep), but that is not an excuse to be rude and sloppy with my order. When I sat down, I looked at my receipt, and he had charged me for 3 extra toppings. I went back to the register and told another employee. She said "he is helping another customer but I will tell him where you are sitting." I went back to my seat, ate my salad, but he never came over. I went back to the register and was told again he was with someone else and couldn't come over. Yes, it was only a couple of bucks, but it's principle and it's my couple of bucks. He never spoke to me and I left out of frustration and time. Moral of the story...check your receipt before you pay. read more

Expensive and marginal. If you're looking for an affordable and DELICIOUS salad skip this place & find a salad works ( one in Greensboro). Chopt is way too expensive everything is an upcharge that's sometimes more than a dollar up charge. It costs extra to get two kinds of lettuce! This place is alright. The salads are huge. I ordered a salad on the phone but also decided to get one for myself when I got there. I'm not sure how my salad was ready before the one previously ordered but the cashier tried to shove both of them into a small bag. I like the whole concept of this place and I like that you get to watch them make the salad and are able to control how chopped the salads are. The people that work there should at least pretend to be happy to be there. The lady chopping my salad was very unenthusiastic and kept rolling her eyes when I would ask for more dressing or for it to be chopped a little bit more. I had the Smokey Santa Cruz salad and loved the spicy dressing. The chicken was ok and I loved the quinoa and crunchy kale and cabbage. I'm almost positive my salad was missing the avocado. I didn't realize until after I ate it that it was supposed to have avocado. There are tons of different things to put on your salad and maybe I'll give it another chance one day. read more

Went here 1 week after it opened and I was very impressed. The interior was very nice, and it was pretty crowded. They kept the line moving, but it was a bit confusing to find the starting point of the line. I did a build your own salad with falafel, and it ended up costing me almost $11.... I was not expecting it to be so expensive. The salads are large and the ingredients were good, so it was worth it but next time I will hold off on the falafel ($11 is too much in my opinion). read more

I decided to stop in to Chopt for a quick healthy dinner. The salad bowl I ordered was delicious! (Baja Shrimp Bowl). Perfect amount of spice and so filling! I'm so glad to see WS adding more healthy options. It was clean and bright inside. Workers were very friendly, priced just right. Chopt is probably my favorite spot to grab a salad.  It's clean and convenient. Multiple salad options to chose. My only hesitation is the wait time for mobile app orders, 30 minutes. What's the point of ordering ahead if it takes 20 minutes longer than ordering in person? read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could I've been to Chopt at multiple locations and this one is nothing like the other just first off they don't even chop the salad anymore it's pre-chopped which takes away from the experience also every time I go in there people are on their phones texting and they don't even greet you. It is far from sanitary I've seen people wipe their gloves on their aprons have the bowl with the chop salad on their aprons I've seen them use the same scooper mixing other ingredients I don't even understand how this place is still open it is disgusting. read more

I go through DC and Boston a fair amount but have managed to never actually go to a Chopt. Not sure how. Some colleagues and I went on a Tuesday for lunch - we were there on the early side, 11ish, after a meeting. No wait, everyone seemed poised for a crowd though. The process was quick and my kale caesar with falafel was good. The falafel might be a bit spicy for people sensitive to spice but I thought it was perfect. Not more expensive than any other salad place, by my measure. No complaints, will definitely return! read more

Well I can honestly say they need to do a better job. I have been there about 25 times since they opened and at first they had enough people working to cover the volume of customers. It started going downhill fast. The last 4 or 5 times I have been my salad was placed to be chopped. There were so many others waiting that my salad was moved and instead of reaching for mine, they continued with the ones that were on the shelf. So that meant I had to wait longer. After 4 or 5 customers who came in after me, got their food and left, I decided I was not going to wait any longer. I even asked to speak to the manager and was told he was on break. read more

Without a doubt, Chopt is the BEST place for fresh healthy food that doesn't make you feel like you are having to sacrifice to eat healthy! My daughter and I frequent this place at least 4-5 times a week and occasionally twice in the same day. We're hooked! Before being introduced to Chopt, about 10 months ago, my daughter's favorite meal was chicken nuggets and fries, now it is a Chopt salad. I have tried a few different salad combinations, and they have all been amazing, but just recently discovered the warm mixed grains with roasted chicken, and cabbage/cilantro blend, with lone star ranch dressing. SO GOOD!! And the dressing is so flavorful it doesn't take much. We have been to other locations, but the Winston-Salem location is our absolute favorite! It is always clean and the food is always top notch. However, one of our favorite things about WS Chopt is the staff, they are ALWAYS so friendly!! Jason is so so nice!! As well as Lexie, Rose and Tito! All of the employees are great, we just haven't learned all their names yet. read more

I've lived in Charlotte and have been to Chopt at a few different locations. Now living in Winston Salem I've been to Chopt a couple times and have had bad Experiences every time it is so unsanitary their cross contaminated they wipe their gloves on their apron they don't even chop the salad in front of you anymore. Isn't that why it's called chopped you're supposed to chop the salad? I saw them touch the dressing container touching the food. I don't recommend the Winston Sal location it's a dirty look at their sanitation score it's 95 that's fucking disgusting. read more

Chopt has such a great variety of options and ingredients! The employees are all so kind and friendly, more than willing to make recommendations or answer questions. One of the managers, Jason, who is always there when I come in, is especially attentive to every customer's needs. I have seen him multiple times not only being considerate of the customer's order, but he also asks about the customer's day and remembers details about return customers! Jason makes each visit feel special and every customer, including myself, feel welcome! I have had food from Chopt twice. The first time someone got it for me, and it was amazing. The second time my husband drove all the way there from a neighboring city on his lunch break. We ordered through the website, through the platform "doordash." We prepaid for the meal, and he was on his way to get it. When he got home, he realized that we only received one of the salads, even though the receipt clearly stated two and that we paid $25+. My husband called to get a refund because we simply didn't have time to drive all the way back for our missing salad. They said that they couldn't offer us a refund but would give us a "free salad." It's not really free when you already paid for it... then they told us we had to contact doordash if we wanted a refund. I've been attempting to report the missing item for about half an hour now. They have a great app and website where you can submit these problems for a refund, but it never goes through. I finally submitted through general issue form. We are still waiting on the refund, and needless to say we'll never go back to Chopt after the way they handled this situation. Additionally, the avocado in the salad that we did get was very brown and looked disgusting. We are super disappointed. read more

Not impressed with this place. Gave it 2 tries. Once for takeout and once dining in. Their menu really doesn't have many options for a place called "Creative Salad Co" (their chain menu online does have more options but our location doesn't have them). If you built your own, it would probably be $15-$18. The upcharges are insane. $1.99 for half an avocado? Nahhh. Also, the flavors are very muted. The dressings are nothing to write home about at all. By the time they add the dressing and chop it, it's kind of a bowl of soggy blah. Panera is way, way better. read more

Greeted first thing by the manager (it appeared) & all the employees were very happy & ready to help. The menus at the door were helpful for figuring out what we wanted to try before getting into line. The employees made sure of what ingredients we wanted & the amounts we preferred. We got our salad in a wrap & it was HUGE!! The prices are a little high, but the portions are great. I love that they have vegan choices; not many restaurants do. I love a good salad, and I imagined this would be similar to Sweet Greens (neither are inexpensive, but the salads are large). I almost walked out because a new restaurant, well any restaurant, should not have a 93 sanitation grade. I decided to give it a shot anyway. I love to see young people working, but I cannot handle young people who seem to have no interest that you are there. Young people that are chatting among themselves and don't care that you're in front of them, and I also had an issue with the chopping of the salad and the ingredients that I'm paying for just flying all over the place. My problem with this place is not necessarily the food (it is a decent salad with some interesting dressings) but with the service. I don't understand why it take so long. I stand in line to order my salad. The ingredients are all prepared at the counter, just add them to my bowl and move on. Then I pay and my salad sits at the register instead of getting chopped up. Finally, I wait in another line for my salad to get chopped and mixed. I know it is called Chopt but I don't understand this step. The ingredients have already been cut, why do they need to be cut more. While they are being chopped, I'm asked 20 questions about how I want my salad, what dressing I want, how well chopped, salt & pepper. It took my 20 minutes on my last trip. The final product was not worth the wait at all. I live in DC and the prices charged in Winston-Salem are as expensive as Sweetgreens, which is quicker, better tasting and a better value. read more
