Dined here on a Wednesday afternoon about 2p. We did not have a wait to be seated, and the restaurant was half full, but soon more patrons entered. I'm surprised at how many people eat late lunches. The food trays were filled at all times. Everything was hot and fresh. We tried the grill where you pick your meats and veggies and take it to the cook to grill for you and he adds your sauces based on spicy or not. We chose noodles with our mix and that was really good. First asian buffet I've been to where they serve pork eggrolls! They also had the normal veggie spring roll as well. The price was very reasonable for lunch, with the selections they offer it's by far the best buffet I been to. Careful though, because we ran into the dinner time, they set out crab, and those wait staff are really on it. If you took crab, you were warned you would pay dinner price even though you went for lunch. Apparently there's a sign that states it, but who really reads? we overheard the waitress tell another table that. Definitely make this a stop when we are in town.

I used to come here often as this was around the corner from my house, but I have since moved twice and now I'm about 10 minutes away, so I pop in and out of this location. I have not had any issues. I've always been seated right away, my drinks on the table by the time I get back from the buffet and I typically always get the same waitress and she's always super nice and attentive. I used to eat the buffet a lot, but now I do the hibachi, I love the fact that it's almost fresh food being cooked in front of me and seasoned how I like it. I do get a few things from the buffet like the fried crabs, that is my favorite part, some shrimp, sushi, egg rolls, things like that. I was pretty bummed to read a few comments down about the discrimination, that was pretty hurtful, as I am an Afro Caribbean woman. And I do get the area that we are in and unfortunately a lot of African-Americans like to run out on the bill but to blatantly discriminate against black men coming in for lunch on their lunch break and racially profiling them is definitely wrong and I don't think that I can support a business that can outright do that. Kudos to the woman that stepped up and spoke on their behalf. We need more people like you in the world. Chow time, shame on you.!

We had no eating supplies therefore we had to use chopsticks or our hands .... The whole time we were there ...

To Whom It May Concern, Chow Time Restaurant - 6997 W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, FL 33319 I am writing to formally express my deep dissatisfaction with the experience my family and I had at your Commercial Boulevard location. We have been loyal patrons of the Chow Time restaurant in Pembroke Pines and have always appreciated the respectful service, welcoming atmosphere, and attentiveness of the staff. Unfortunately, the experience at your Tamarac location was the complete opposite and left us disappointed and disturbed. From the moment we walked in, we were met with an unwelcoming and unprofessional attitude from the host, Buena. The very first words out of her mouth were, "This is Dinner time," spoken with a visible attitude and no sense of hospitality. We chose to overlook the comment, hoping the service would improve. However, when Buena came to take our drink order, one of my family members politely remarked that she could at least smile. Her response was, "I don't need to smile," delivered in an unnecessarily rude and defensive tone. This behavior is not only unprofessional but also reflects very poorly on your establishment's customer service standards. Things only got worse from there. Buena threw the receipt on the table without a word, and we were left waiting at least 10 to 15 minutes without a single server approaching us. No one brought silverware, no one asked if we needed refills, and no waitress or waiter was ever assigned to our table. This was beyond unacceptable. At that point, I got up to speak with the manager. To her credit, the manager was courteous and attempted to resolve the situation, and we appreciated her professionalism. However, by then, the damage was already done. Despite our better judgment, we decided to stay--but even after speaking with the manager, we still received no table service. One of my family members ordered hot tea, and when it finally arrived, the cup had a lipstick stain on it. This is a clear sign of unsanitary practices, and we immediately brought it to the manager's attention. By that point, we had completely lost our appetite and left extremely dissatisfied. This was, without question, one of the worst dining experiences we have ever had. Not only was the service unacceptable, but the attitude of the host was offensive and dismissive. It is clear that this location does not hold itself to the same standards as your Pembroke Pines location, where we have always been treated with dignity and respect--regardless of who we are. After this experience, I looked into public reviews of this location and was not surprised to see a pattern of complaints about poor service, rude staff, and unhygienic conditions. We are not the only ones who have had such issues, which suggests a much larger management and training problem. I hope you take this feedback seriously. We are still hopeful that Chow Time as a brand values its customers and will work to improve the training and accountability of staff, particularly at this location.

    Do not go there.

Do not go to this place. Way too dirty. While eating there were roaches and insects flying around the food. Worst place to eat. Also place is outdated looks like has not been clean in years. Food tasted old and with smell.

Craving the fried crabs, I stopped in, despite still being leary about the Follow-Up Required health score. Initially, there were only a few mostly broken up pieces of crab out, but while browsing the other offerings, the station was refilled with a heaping pile of freshly fried crabs. They were meaty and crispy; pouring the hot melted butter on top of them was a tasty, "Duh, why I didn't think of this before?!" moment. Staff members promptly greeted me, were pleasant and responsive. The parking lot was full as usual, but the trafffic around the buffet stations was not crowded. Overall,

    Welcome!

First timer at Chow Time. We arrived at noon on a Saturday and it was not busy when we arrived but by the time we left, it was very busy at the buffet line. The buffet is $17.99 all day. They had everything in the buffet from sushi to Chinese favorites, to salad to pizza to desserts. There was a nice selection of raw meats that you could select for the hibachi. The layout of all the different buffet stations made for an easy flow and no lines. Serving trays were consistently full during my visit. Hot food could have been warmer but it is a buffet after all. They serve beer and wine. They want to make sure that you do not waste, so they will charge you $8.99 a pound if you leave food on your plate. Service was efficient, our dirty plates were removed, timely, and our drinks were filled before they were empty. The restaurant is lean and well maintained. There are COVID signs on the buffet reminding everyone to wear masks, no one was. I recommend a visit to Chow Time when in the area.

Hello. Can someone please find out how much it is to order, "by the pound to go?"

Does Chow Time use MSG, Monosodium Glutamate, in their food? I am extremely allergic & sensitive to MSG and I can not eat even a small amount. I can not eat at Chow Time if they use MSG. PLEASE let me know. Thank you very much. AlanMM

Here is my best advise, if you are highly allergic to MSG, avoid eating at Asian buffets in general. Much of Chow Time is fresh, but there are hundreds of food options likely from different sources, my guess is they could not guarantee you that… Read more

They offer dim sum, so we had some roast pork buns as appetizers. The buns had very little filling and the bread was a bit dry, as if the buns had been sitting in the warmer for awhile. (They are displayed in a warmer as you enter the restaurant.) There is no lunch menu on weekends, so we ordered from the regular menu. Prices averaged $17 to $20 per entree with seafood options averaging $23-$25. All meals are served with white rice. There are no options to switch to fried rice, unless you want to order it as an entree. My friend loves orange chicken, so that's what she ordered. Since the eatery is touted for its roast duck and roast pork, I ordered the latter. We shared both. The pork was a bit salty and a tad dry. And it needed more of it's glaze. Though I am not a fan of orange chicken, this was one of the best I have had. It was sweet, but not overly done. And the coating was light and crispy. The portions were large. We both ate and took home leftovers for our husbands. Service was spotty and rushed with only two people taking care of all the tables. I never got a straw for my glass of water, and it took a few requests to get chopsticks. One appetizer, two entrees, tax, and tip was about $57.

But curiosity finally won, and I'm glad it did. Ming Wah is pure old-school Chifa: no frills, unapologetically greasy, and weirdly charming. I ordered the fried wontons, the sopa de wantan especial, and the mixed chaufa (fried rice with pork, chicken, and shrimp). All solid. The soup especially was generous and surprisingly hearty--the small size ($8.95) could easily feed two, and the large is enough for four. The chaufa had all the right notes: smoky, just enough wok hei, and not overloaded with salt or MSG like you sometimes get at Chifa Taypa. That might actually be a plus for some folks--it's flavorful without being a sodium bomb. The fried wontons were crisp and classic. Nothing fancy, but they scratched the itch. The menu is tight for Chifa standards--hits all the usual suspects--but they've also got a full American-Chinese menu for those who want their General Tso fix. Prices are more than fair: $25 got me all three dishes, with regular-sized portions. The phone rang off the hook with takeout orders while I was there, and dine-in seems secondary. If you do eat in, leave a tip--these folks are working hard, and from what I saw, they're not seeing much appreciation from the dine-in crowd. Service was prompt and the teenage girl working the front (presumably the daughter of the owners) speaks perfect English and was very nice.
