It's a shame that after coming to Choza for a couple years now, found out right in front of my face how one very good employee just got fired. The manager had no professional manner and fired an employee in front of customers. Customers that were pleased of this employee, who has always greeted and treated his customers with respect and very friendly and continued to attend his duties. I was very shocked how this so called Hispanic manager can just fire another Hispanic employee with no notice and tell him to never come back and threw his tips on the table he was attending. I feel bad for Chozas employees, but I will NEVER dine here again. The owner should really reach out to this employee who got fired unjustly. read more

So so so tired of Tigard hwy 99 Mexican food joints when we want to head out for the night. Everything basically tastes the same with some doing some dishes better than others and vice versa. So tired and so old. Quick search on here led us to Choza and their great reviews. WOW. Friday night and it's hoppin. Just the vibe is so refreshing. Higher end Mexican restaurant that's not the prototypical that I'm so used to. The prices are actually comparable and cheaper on certain things. We started with chips, salsa, and taquitos. Delicious. No matter where I go I get pork verde. So I went with the verde wet burrito. Delicious!! You can just taste the quality in the pork and sauce. And moist. Pickled veggies on the side were delicious as well. Some Mexican places offer pickled veggies but seriously my face feels like it's going to melt from heat. These were perfect. We also enjoyed chicken enchiladas. Rave reviews from son. Pacifico cold and delicious as well as margaritas. Super fast and friendly service. I felt refreshed and cleansed. Make SW Portland cool again! Clearly the creators of Choza knew this area of our ever popular hipster city needed a little love and attention. I grew up going to Bridgeport and Choza is just what the mall needed! A taco and a margarita, what more could you want after a movie or afternoon of shopping? This place has a refreshingly cool interior and finally gives southwest Portlanders a trendy spot to go without sitting in traffic to go to the east side. The drink menu is extensive and be sure to splurge one night and try the 1% margarita with 100 year old Grand Mariner and top shelf tequila. The chips are served warm with excellent salsa right when you get to the table. The service was great and for only being open for a couple of days, my whole table was very impressed. Compared to what I'm used to living in Southern California, I was blown away by the low price points. I'm excited to see how this places continues to develop and thankful for a breath of fresh air in and otherwise boring southwest Portland food scene. Finally some good Mexican Food in PDX. Delicious frozen margaritas. We ordered a bunch of stuff to try out. The chips and salsa were great. The queso is very good but super cheesy, wonderful homemade tortillas. The Asada tacos were delicious. And I really enjoyed the enchilada plate. My husband ordered a wet burrito which he said was really good but it's huge! Come hungry and be ready to share. Oh and the wait staff and host were excellent. We will definitely be back! read more

We stopped in based off the Yelp reviews we read, and I'm so glad we did! We have searched high and low for good Mexican, and it is few and far between in the Portland area. This place was ridiculously good. Started off with amazing chips and salsa, which most restaurants get wrong! Absolutely delicious margaritas with fresh, House made mixes. This is the first Mexican restaurant of its class that I've been to in the area. The dining room design is fun yet modern. The food has a California Mexican flare. The mole sauce is some of the best I've had. The cinnamon in the sauce goes really well with the chicharrones appetizer. We came here on a Saturday night (April 20th) at the recommendation of another family. We intended to dine with that other family at 6:30. Knowing it would be busy, we arrived at Bridgeport early at 6 pm to put our name on the list. The hostess said the wait would be an 1 hour 20 minutes. She took our cell number and said she would text us when the table was ready. We proceeded to hit nearby stores in the mall for the 80 minute wait. About 20 minutes later we received an unknown cell phone call identified from Beaverton. As we often ignore unknown numbers that are often spam, we did not pickup. No voicemail was left. We then became a bit suspicious and went back to the restaurant to discover they had attempted to call us to tell us our table was ready. However, since we did not answer their call, they gave up our table. They then said the next table was an hour out. WHAT? Here is what is wrong with this situation: 1. They gave us an estimated wait time of 1 hr 20 minutes but then had the table available in only 20 mins. Choza should be able to estimate wait times better than that. We made our wait plans accordingly off incorrect info. 2. According to Choza, their text notifier service went down during our wait so they attempted to call. I get things can go offline but we were not anticipating a phone call. I appreciate them attempting to call but to give up our table when we ignored a Beaverton phone number is not acceptable (Bridgeport is in Tualatin/Tigard last we checked). 3. The manager and hostess were polite when we confronted them on this. However, to say it is not their problem and it was on us to respond in this situation was justified in their eyes. They did nothing to attempt to accommodate us and put as at the bottom of the wait list again. Here is how Choza can improve from this incident: 1. Improve wait time estimating for customers. 2. Inform the customers Choza will text but may call as a backup. 3. Get a Tigard or Tualatin area phone and not a Beaverton ID'd one. 4. Be more accommodating when the system failed on the restaurants side and management not blow off the customers saying "it is what it is". Choza, remember a significant portion of your customer base and reputation comes from referrals and recommendations resulting from positive customer experience. If that is compromised, it can negatively affect your business. We want you to succeed and hope to try your venue again. Please take steps to improve. read more

This place is new to Bridgeport and definitely has some kinks to work out, which is the only reason it doesn't have 5 stars for me yet. We checked in on a Friday night and they said it would be about 40 minutes, no big deal since it's a Friday night in a new place but there were a ton of open tables, but we left to go wander the mall while we waited. About 5 minutes later we got a text that our table was ready, not a huge deal and we were happy to be seated early just an odd experience and seems like they are just working through some things. Other than that, the service was great and the food was delicious. I went for the street tacos, I'm not normally the hugest fan of corn tortillas because they can be on the dry side but the ones here are SO good and really nail the texture. I went with the steak option and it was so flavorful and perfectly cooked. I didn't try any of the cocktails this time but the menu was expansive and I'm looking forward to trying them next time! read more

This place is just average. Came in on Sunday night after movie. Had to wait for about 5 mins before being served due to a large group. Informed us they ran out of chips but then somehow they had more. Tacos were just ok. Same with guacamole. Nothing spectacular. Staff looked like they were a bit disorganized. At the end, the server brought bill and then realized they didn't charge for 2 drinks so went back to add the drinks. Not cool. Turned me off. There are better places to go in the area. read more

We used to love choza but the quality of their food has really gone down hill and that's really disappointing. Many of their dishes that used to be homemade are now frozen. The wings used to be excellent with homemade sauce and now are breaded with a generic sauce. Likely something you would find at Safeway in the frozen isle. Good margaritas though. read more

No flavor in the food, the salsa that they serve tastes like it's out of a jar. The Asada used in street tacos is dry and chewy. Fish tacos were bland and tasted like frozen store bought cod and serves with the fish cold. The Cesar salad is beyond mayo with some salt, even after using pepper, extra dressing and en entire lemon it was still underwhelming. The Serrano margarita had a smidge of tequila for $11. I do not recommend the food here for the cost. I have had better street tacos from taco trucks. Go to Juan Colorado instead. read more

What a new find in Bridgeport. We were going to ways and means until we saw this new restaurant. Checked out the menu and said let's try. First ordered shrimp taco, fish ceviche, al pastor taco and three mini tostadas. First the prices are excellent. All the food was so flavorful and fresh. The Salas was perfect. The homemade tortillas are so good. The fresh ceviche was so very good. Also has one of their signature margarita which was really good. The only downer is the wait staff is slow and liked to be on their cell phones while cleaning tables. This is a must try and i will come back again. read more

We enjoyed dinner at Choza in person this week. They did an amazing job making us feel Covid safe plus feed us excellent food ! They have an outdoor tent with spaced out tables greater than 6 feet. The staff are masked, have gloves when appropriate and hand sanitizer stations. They also have a no touch payment system set up. In addition. We went to the Apple store and one of the employees recommended this place. The restaurant had a very chill vibe, it wasn't noisy or too busy. The chips and salsa were veeeery good, the salsa was excellent. I ordered shrimp guacamole tostaditas and they were delicious. I would recommend they cook the shrimp a little longer, but overall the tostadas were very good. The waitress was very friendly and would check on us often. She was quick to refill drinks :) It was three of us and in total it was $50 (3 entrees, 4 cokes, and one side of rice) I thought the prices were reasonable :) I would absolutely come back to this place. read more

Delicious food, excellent margaritas, and the friendliest staff! I am so happy they're open, and in the center I work! Such a beautiful interior too! Well designed, and fun atmosphere. The bar is separated from the main dining area, but there is still a very lively atmosphere. The food is authentic and so flavorful. We tried a variety of dishes ( the cauliflower, the chicharrones, the mole and the quesadillas), AND we had our 10 month old daughter with us! Such a great experience ! The Ambiance is really nice and positive. It's really a clean dining experience. We had the barbacoa and Pollo tacos, which leaves something to be desired of unfortunately. For some reason here in the Northwest, people that have never traveled internationally or heck NYC, LA, or Miami have no idea what these authentic food should Taste like. Paco's Tacos in Los Angeles has this place beat! And Paco's is a little hole in the wall. Lol. Maybe if this place added some flavor to its ingredients, the meats would be better. Good luck spending your hard earned bucks here. We won't be back. The two stars are for the greeters, servers and clean environment. We went here after they were open a month & the food was very good & so was the service. We now go once a week & have taken several friends with us. Everything we've had has been yummy & the portions are large enough to have leftovers. I hope they last as this location in the mall has had a high turnover. We came here to have drinks while waiting for a table across the street and I have to say, we should have stayed for dinner. Great atmosphere, the drinks were really good, and the customer service was fantastic. I only gave 4 stars because we didn't actually eat here but we will definitely be going back.
