When I first came here this place was about 100 sqrft and Chris' mom was cooking in the back. Now he has grown to multiple locations and is by far the most authentictic greek restaurant in America. We love Greek food but this place is simply NOT a good restaurant. The side Greek salad was soggy iceberg lettuce, a mushy stuffed grape leaf, a single slice of tomato and feta cheese. It was completely overdressed and limp. The moussaka was equally terrible. It consisted of overcooked mushy potatoes, and not enough eggplant and too much bechamel. My wife's shrimp Santorini was smothered in crumbled feta. Overall a very heavy-handed attempt that was very unappealing. There were only 5 over-cooked, medium shrimp on the plate. The atmosphere was not particularly appealing either. Laid out sort of like a cafeteria and on an ambience scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "very charming, I'd give Chris' Taverna a"0". When I lived in Lake Worth this restaurant was one of my favorites. Now I live 3 hours away but Chris' food remains my #1 favorite. Their Gyros have won over many of my friends over the years. (One friend from St Augustine drives out to Chris' whenever she goes south too) To start, they always bring pita and tziki to your table. The tziki is phenomenal! and their pita is homemade so you may want to get more but save room for your meal! Today my friend and I shared an octopus appetizer, the appetizer with 4 dips, and a gyro with lemon potatoes. We actually ok the gyro home because it was A LOT of food. The octopus was so tender and flavorful and the lemon potatoes never disappoint. The different dips all kept our tastebuds dipping for more. I particularly like the baba'ganoush and the smokey flavor of the spicy feta. Even the fresh tomatoes were better than those I can find or grow. I've tried the lamb chops and other Greek dishes and have never been let down. If you're craving Authentic Greek food or never have tried it, Chris's is your place! At peak times there may be a wait but it seems to go fast with their large indoor and outdoor tables always full. Service is friendly, efficient, and abundant. Wow! The food here is unbelievable. I had the Grecian platter. It came with lamb chops, souvlaki, gyro, and loukaniko. This dish is a meat lovers paradise. The meats are seasoned well, they're juicy, and one of the most delicious entrees Chris' offers. The Moussaka here is wonderful. I've been to Greece and the food here I must say was better than what I had there. I recommend sitting outside when it's a beautiful day. Inside is painted with beautiful murals. We did not have a very good experience tonight. They weren't too crowded yet the service was off. I don't like writing these reviews but since I can't undo the other one which is out there, I need to balance them out. The food was pretty bland. The hummus was watery & needed some help. Same with the salad dressing & souvlaki. The only item I really enjoyed was their Baba Ganoush. It's Greek food. A friend of ours recommended this place, and it did not disappoint! They start you off with complimentary pita and tzatziki. I ordered the lamb chops with lemon potatoes, and a greek salad to start. The lamb was cooked at the right temperature, and was hands down the best lamb chops that i've ever eaten. They give you a generous portion. The one thing i noticed was that they don't have a huge selection of alcoholic beverages on the menu, but the food makes up for that. We visited to the other Chris' location last time we were in the area and stopped in for a quick lunch. We were a bit worried that they would be so busy that we'd have a long wait as all the tables outside were full. But the inside was nearly empty so we snagged a table there. The restaurant is located in a shopping center. so ample parking available. We sat outside and were comfortable after about a 20 minute wait.
