Christopher's Cafe, formerly of the South End is now Christopher's Cafe of the Diamond District and just one street away from the beach. Yay! The South End's loss is the Diamond District's gain. What a terrific addition to this Lynn neighborhood. Although there were a few men enjoying breakfast, this place is decorated to be a total chick haunt and hideout. They serve breakfast and lunch and have a catering menu. Though I only had one of their huge blueberry scones and a cup of light roast coffee, this place has the potential to be my new breakfast joint on the North Shore. Grab your picnic lunch from here and head to the beach with your cooler in tow when the weather warms. It's also a terrific place for writing, reading, and undisturbed working. There's plenty of natural light fluttering through floor to ceiling windows being reflected off of ripe, pineapple-yellow walls. P.S. They are closed on Mondays. read more

I've been here a few times for breakfast, and left completely satisfied with my meal each time! The food is freshly prepared, the juices delicious (and a great deal for 4 "shooters"), the unlimited coffee bar is great (as is not having to wait for a server to come by to refill your coffee), and I've found the staff to be very friendly! Not to mention, the prices are very reasonable. Technically you could get a meal here for under $10, but there's so much good stuff on the menu, I always end up ordering a few dishes to sample! A gem! I have been meaning for years to check this place out. Had I known what I was missing, I would have gone much sooner. Small and intimate, beautiful decor, friendly staff, delicious food. Unbelievable food, cooked perfectly and presented beautifully, and the space is adorable. I sat in a sunny window surrounded by gardenia plants, and had the poached egg over a bed of spinach and quinoa, and a freshly squeezed juice blend. If I could leave no stars, I would. Just ordered delivery of three sandwiches and only two arrived. I called and asked them to deliver the 3rd sandwich as we have a person without their meal, and the owner or manager (male), or whoever I spoke to, basically said tough luck and told me to screw off and then hung up on me. I called back and he told me he would credit me back $5, when the total order was $33, and then he hung up on me again. Now we are left with two breakfasts for three people and still not a refund, and potentially only $5? He suggested that he would not give me more of a refund because we still got some food and are eating it. He said if I wanted more of a refund I would have to drive the food back (when we paid $5 extra for delivery). What a joke! Horrible customer service. Speaking in terms of the food that was delivered - it was soggy and they did not include the extra add on items that we paid for. Will never order from this place again. All around rude and poor quality. Big mistake. read more

I got the veggie burger and sweet potato fries. I enjoyed the burger even though the bread needed to be toasted. But the fries where ridiculous! There were a shredded disaster! I was not expecting them to be like that and such a small proportion because they ran out and I ordered extra. We were waiting for almost an hour even though they said 15-20 mins and it really wasn't busy. Plus for my friends pancakes it was about the same wait as my veggie burger...I don't know if it was worth the wait. But the place was cute and sold local artist paintings. read more

My girlfriend and I eat here almost every weekend. It's a really charming little breakfast place on the outskirts of Lynn. This place has the best scones I have ever enjoyed. Definitely order one, even if you generally don't like scones. Great coffee, very flavorful home-fries, and a really relaxed atmosphere. read more

Delicious! Owner immediately greeted our party with enthusiasm and humor. We were in town to celebrate a bachelorette and ended having a wonderful conversation with the owner. I've been coming to Christopher's for breakfast and brunch on the weekends for 3+ years and it's simply the best breakfast place I've been to. Dave is such a great guy as are his hospitable staff. We travel from South Boston to Christopher's at least once a month (we used to come every weekend when we lived closer) and it has never disappointed us. This morning a group of 7 of us went over to Christopher's Cafe in Lynn for brunch. I've been there 4 or 5 times over the past year or two and never thought much of it--the food is OK (the scones are fantastic, but everything else is just ordinary) and the small space is often overly crowded on a Sunday morning when we typically turn up. The service is usually slow, but I've been happy to overlook that given that it's a local business and it's good to see that they're busy. I've had a few interactions with the owner in the past and found him to be boorish and unwelcoming, but the servers are trying their best and have always been super nice, so whatever. Today, as we were working out the math on how to divvy up the bill, a partitioning wall literally fell on one side of our table, solidly hitting one person and delivering a glancing blow to another. Mercifully the occupant of the other seat had retired to the restroom at just the right time and thus avoided being hit. She would have likely taken the brunt of the weight of the wall and who knows what might have happened. As this occurred, the owner of the restaurant came out and was shockingly awful to us about the situation. Rather than apologize and check that everyone was actually OK, he blamed us and the patrons on the other side of the wall for the wall's falling. Clearly, the fault lies with the owner of the establishment for having such shoddy construction and trying to cram so many people into such a tight space--I've long wondered about their occupancy rate and whether there's a fire code violation when the cafe is full. The owner also didn't comp anything and talked crap about us for asking for compensation--I mean, c'mon! This isn't just burnt pancakes--a frigging WALL fell on our party! The one member of our party who was hit hardest thinks he's OK, and I hope that's true. Given that it might take a little while for the adrenaline to subside, there might be a different assessment of harm sustained later on. Bottom line--I personally will NEVER set foot in this establishment again, and am actively urging everyone else I know who has frequented it in the past to consider boycotting, too. The owner's behavior was appalling and inexcusable and made a bad situation worse. A little kindness would have gone a long way to maintaining good will. read more

Food is good, pleasant people, but the kitchen is slow. / disorganized. Was at least 30 mins after placing our order before the food came out, people who arrived after us got their food first and a couple next to us got one plate but not the other. If you're ok to wait it's worth it. Pleasant atmosphere and (with expectations set) we'll come again. read more

We have come to Christopher's Cafe several times since we live in the neighborhood. Most often we walk here for breakfast and eat outside, and our dog is able to join us! Breakfast is yummy with lots of choices. Several blends of coffee available. Lunch choices are also delicious. Staff always pleasant and helpful. read more

A very good breakfast place. The food is fresh and they have unique menu items. The hashbrowns are worth the trip all by themselves. The servers are friendly and the service is incredibly fast. I literally got my food (Spanish Omelette) in less time than I would have spent in a Dunks drive-through. Portions are big (I'm a big, fat man and I couldn't finish the stack of 3 pancakes), and prices are reasonable. They do have a lunch menu also, but I have never had lunch here. 5 stars from me. read more

I've gone here twice. the first time it was pretty busy so I didn't mind that the wait for a server to come take our order was a bit long. The food was good so I wanted to come back again. But the second time i went I was confused and unhappy. It was a early morning and the place was basically empty. The server took long. Our food took long. I appreciate that they have many home made pastries. And the 6 variations of coffee at a self serve bar, also appreciated. But I'm a eggs and bacon sorta guy. And I can tell you- Bacon- not the cheap thin stuff, never burnt, always cooked to perfection Eggs- the menu tells me they're special in some way...my belly agrees. And actually cooked over easy. Home fries- not the usual New England big chunks of seasoned potatoes. These are "smashed" and cooked with garlic, onions. Delicious. I could eat just a plate of them and be happy. Service- same attractive young lady the last two times, same personable friendly service. I've even bumped into the owner a while back and he invited me to their monthly dinner they host at the restaurant. Aaaand they take credit cards, something no other diner nearby (worth going to) can say. Great food-friendly service in a local family run diner is a win-win in this little corner of Lynn. read more

I spend most weekends on the North Shore and Christopher's is a staple for brunch. I've been a vegetarian for a long time now and when I first started going to Christopher's, I would get the Spanish omelet, home fries and toast OR the pancakes with fresh blueberries or bananas OR the french toast with real maple syrup OR a freshly baked muffin OR an spinach, egg and cheese sandwich...all were so, so yummy. I recently became a vegan (I do eat sugar and honey) and David, the owner, has been so kind to accommodate my request for oatmeal made with water instead of milk, stir fried veggies (not on the menu), or a simple bagel with peanut butter. This morning he outdid himself and made VEGAN PANCAKES! I got them with blueberries and bananas and real maple syrup. They aren't on the menu and if you are going to go, I suggest you call and give the staff a heads up that you are coming so they have the ingredients (namely soy or coconut milk) on hand. Your meat-eating dining companions will love everything on the menu, the vegetarians will have ample options and now vegans like me can actually have pancakes at brunch...in LYNN! Hooray for Christopher's! PS. The waitstaff is super friendly and attentive, parking is pretty easy to find, and there are brunch specials, too. This was my first visit to this cozy spot. The server was very attentive and suggested that I try the chicken kabob sandwich. It was delicious - roasted pepper , onions, summer squash and zucchini with chicken in a delicious balsamic dressing. I heard about Christophers Café from a friend and had to try them out. I live in Malden and was hoping the treck to Lynn was worth it. It absolutely was. I was greeted as soon as I stepped in the door by a waitess. She showed me where the self serve coffee was, (which I think is a great idea since I am fussy about how my coffee is made) and told me I could sit anywhere. The service was EXCELLENT, very friendly. I ordered a Western Omlette with home fries along with a blueberry scone. YUMMY!!! They were all cooked to perfection. Especially the scone, it was delicious with the hazelnut coffee. If I wasn't so full from the meal, I would have ordered seconds. It was totally delish. The atmosphere was amazing. Very quiet and quaint. A wonderful Café to enjoy a leisurely breakfast. Ordered 4 sandwiches to go. They ran out of one type and didn't tell me or the wait staff. Started making a sandwich from scratch and didn't tell me. So 30 minutes later I have 4 sandwiches. One guy at a table ordered French fries and they told him no. The bag of potatoes they were chopping were for tomorrow. I e customer came in ordered are and paid before I got a sandwich. Chef needs to get his act together. This was my first and my last time to come here. Not worth it. The waiter did offer money from his own pocket for one sandwich. Had a nice breakfast at Christopher's this morning. The food was delicious. I had an omelette with broccoli, spinach, and feta. It was huge and tasty. Quality ingredients and good portion. The home fries were crunchy and yummy. We also ordered French Toast to accompany the meal...buttery and melt in your mouth delicious. After a few years of going by here, we finally decided to stop in today for brunch. The seating by the windows is bright & cheerful, but the lighting behind the food area was dark and dreary - sort of made you wonder just how clean it is back there. We both ordered green tea - mine came tepid, but my husbands was steaming hot. The waitress was happy to bring me a new hot cup of tea after I pointed it out. I ordered scrambled eggs with homefries & rye toast. My DH ordered the greek omelette which he said was good. I would say the homefries were the highlight of the meal for both of us. When the server brought our entrees she asked if we needed ketchup or hot sauce - I said yes, thinking she was going to return with them, but after 5 minutes it became clear that would not be the case. The staff was all focused on people at the counter, so I decided to eat my food while still hot w/o the condiments. I'd always heard good things about this place, but I'm not sure what the buzz was about. The display cases themselves were pretty empty; the muffins and scones up on top of the case were so hard to see because of the bad lighting that I didn't even notice they were up there until halfway through our meal. I was kind of let down by this place. The husband loved their western omelet (which they used red peppers instead of the more common green) and it was huge and pretty jam packed with all the fillings. I got plain ol' scrambled eggs with sausage and english muffins. The eggs tasted like they had a chemical in them? I know that sounds weird but its the only way I can describe it. Maybe it was a type of non stick or butter spray they used? Oh and their sausages were burnt and chewy.
