This place hits the spot if you are really down bad for malatang. I think a big difference is that there isn't that much variety to the items but the broth was pretty good. One thing I really liked is that the soup comes out piping hot.

As more malatang spots open up in the area, I'm not mad at this one. There were a bunch of new items that I have not seen at other spots. The options are endless. They even have a pretty solid sauce bar that is constantly refilled. Got seated right away and the restraint started getting busy after 12pm mark. I also really like that they have more broth flavors and non typical ones at other malatang places. Just because, I'm starting to get bored of the common ones they have at others. Another bonus is that they also come with free side of noodles with your pot so you don't need to add that in your bowl. I like that they also use clay pots which keeps the soup hot throughout the entire time you're eating, what a nice touch. They have appetizers and other drinks that I'll be sure to come back and try! Chaunhi Clay for one of the top three malatang places here in the south bay!

I came here with my boyfriend on a Sunday around 11:16am and we were the first ones there. This is very typical of most malatang restaurants where you walk in, and start selecting diff food items. I was really excited to try the northeast flavor because they top the bowl with this creamy tahini sauce. I got mild spiciness, and it paired so well with the creamy tahini sauce. They have various options, and I really liked the fish balls with rice cake! You can also pair your bowl with potato noodles or rice noodles for free. We both got the potato noodles and they were chewy! Great place for malatang but I just dislike how close the tables are placed together.

New restaurant soft opening! 15.99 per pound. Lots of options. Complimentary rice noodle or potato noodle. Service was good. Place was clean. There's soup and dry option. Appetizers like skewer or smoked duck. Because it's serve in casserole. The food was super hot. I would suggest to give apron for customers that need. Would be nice to have Hand sanitizer for the utensil and bowl area.

Highly recommend trying the Wok Fried Spicy Dry Pot if you're in the mood for something flavorful and exciting. I can't wait to return and explore more of the menu!

While I liked the setup, but my takeout order was mistaken - the ingredient was different than expected - for example, I chose beef and lamb and did not got them. As it is a take out order, I called the restaurant and they said oh I'll ask kitchen to be careful next time. Quite disappointed paying for something I did not choose.

    nice presentation :)

PARKING: decent parking, it's around other places so it is in a lot but if it is a busy time it would be pretty hard to try and get a space. PLACE: fairly big, but not too big, would have to combine a few chairs and tables to accommodate to bigger parties, the sauces and everything are already on the table, so are the dishes as well. FOOD: We got the ultra, Tom Yum Tonkotsu & Shiro Miso Soymilk - Tom Yum tasted really good and it paired well with the meat, the Shiro Miso just tasted more like miso soup than actual soy milk mixed in. American Wagyu & Black Angus Beef Toro - I feel like the American Wagyu was a little too fatty for my liking, or it could be the other way around lol, I kind of don't remember which one was which but one had amazing marbling that melted in your mouth. We also got lychee beer, which was super good, didn't even taste like beer. We had like 3 glasses which is funny because we aren't drinkers but it was so delicious. I recommend any of their fruity beers. Edamame - don't really recommend, comes cold and some pieces were not really good.

I think they use induction heaters so it is pretty slick and easy to control. The table itself felt a bit cramped though, and we had to play a bit of tetris to manage everything. There are vegetables that revolve around a conveyer belt for us to grab. The sauce bar is pretty small and got a bit chaotic. The hot food bar was also pretty small. The quality of the food is good. The mala broth was spicy. I think this place has really good value. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that similar places do but the price is hard to beat. Plus, it feels pretty tech forward with the induction heaters and converter belt.

**3.5 rounding up to 4 stars**…read more I wished they had more tables to accommodate bigger parties but it was interesting sitting bar style in front of the conveyor belt! My only complaint was that it was hard to conversate depending how you're seated. Service was great! Meats came out quickly but I didn't like the limitation where you're only able to order more meat if you only had 1 left but I understand. It was hard to figure out where to put the empty plates and bowls after we were done with it without appearing too messy or inconsiderate of the people around us but us sitting at the end helped. Very simple cuts of meat and options but not bad to just get your pot hot fix in but definitely limiting for meats and sauces. Surprisingly, they had a lot of appetizers I enjoyed like the chicken wings, gyoza, and of course, french fries! But if you're not mindful then you may get full of that vs what you're here for, which is the meat and conveyor belt items lol. The concept and seating is definitely interesting and I felt like I was in Japan. I just wish there were more options.

A waitress there had told me there would be a $7 charge to do that and I paid anyway, but a waiter from our most recent visit assured us there's no charge to mix broths and that there may have been a miscommunication. Glad I asked! We always order 2 sumos: Black Angus Prime Ribeye and the Premium American Kobe Beef but we decided we love the Kobe beef more and would stick to that moving forward as it is more marbled and tastes fattier. My go-to order is SUMO Premium American American Kobe with Traditional Seaweed (Konbu) soup. The American Kobe is much more marbled and tender than the more expensive Angus Prime Ribeye. Sure, the ribeye is a 'better' cut but its actually not as good for Shabu since the thin slices negates the need for the ribeye to be a tender cut. The Angus Prime Ribeye is generally and usually not as marbled as the Premium American Kobe Beef at this place. Regular/Large/Sumo is 5/8/11 oz if you are wonder, I asked.

The interior isn't anything fancy and it's a typical hole in the wall Asian restaurant but that's how you know the food is gonna be good. I'd also have to admit their service was lackluster back then but they've improved a whole lot since then. I only order two things when I come here and it's always the #38 Thai seafood hotpot which is tom yum based and the #1 banh khot. Their Thai seafood hotpot always hits and has stayed consistent throughout the years. It's a classic tom yum soup base with a variety of different items like fish balls with roe (loveeee), lobster balls, shrimp, mussels, and so much more. They did switch up their hotpot veggies though and it's a platter of lettuce and cabbage now whereas before they used to have crown daisy (which was so much better) but that's okay. As for their banh khot, this is my favorite place to get it. It's always so fresh! Crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and the flavor is always on point. Definitely a worthy spot to visit if you haven't had the chance to stop by yet.

Food: My friends and I weren't feeling the hot pot option so we just went with the bbq. The standout winners in our books were the beef finger ribs and beef tongue, though I wouldn't say there was anything bad per se (though definitely go for the Argentinian red shrimp over the white shrimp). Ambiance: The interior was pretty nicely designed and laid out. Definitely you'll smell the bbq as you enter, and the floor was a little bit greasy, but that seems par for the course for a kbbq place. Music wasn't loud from what I recall, and bathroom was clean.
