Avoid at all costs. We had a reservation for 6:45pm, they made us wait until 7:30pm and no matter how many times we asked for our table, always an excuse. Menu advertised on the website that they serve alcohol, then they say no alcohol since no license. I can't imagine becoming a member at this place if I have to wait more than 45 minutes post my reservation time. Mind you there's a 70 minute eating window. Terrible experience, we immediately left to fogo de chao, at least they are more consistent and sat us down. Never again! read more

I'm gonna start my review by saying that you should REALLY make a reservation before you go. Luckily, we had one, but the line of people waiting was crazy. It seemed like they were seating people relatively quickly who were on the waiting list, from what we could see while waiting for our table to be ready. The service was phenomenal. Nicole really made our experience great. She was funny, kind and patient with all of our questions. She truly made our experience a great one. The food was pretty good and came out quickly. Some of the meats we didn't care for and others were delicious. We chose the gold tier for dinner, and the premium meats we had were wonderful. There are a few other meats that were tasty and a few that didn't really hit the spot for us. I can't remember them all, because we tried so many. The one with the miso and onions was one of my favorites though - it had great flavor. The calamari was not good. I would not recommend getting it. Hard pass on that one. The rice dispensing machine is cool. It ran out of rice at one point; but they filled it up fairly quickly. But it's a cool little machine that people seemed to enjoy, especially the kids eating there. lol I took off one star because by the time we finished eating, we wanted to have some ice cream and the machine wasn't working. My husband and daughter had the chocolate ice cream, but the vanilla wasn't working and when I went back up to get some chocolate, that one didn't work either. It was a bummer because you have a certain time limit at the table and because our time was almost up, we couldn't wait for the ice cream since the manager said it would be another 20-30 minutes for it to start working. We felt rushed. So, at that point, we just gathered up our stuff and called it a day. The dinner isn't cheap. I believe it was around $250 for the 3 of us to have the gold tier. Not entirely sure if it's worth that much. Especially when you can't enjoy or get things that are part of the experience. Some suggestions for the restaurant would be that when you are ordering on the tablet at the table, it would be great to have an option to customize things. For instance, we wanted to get shrimp tempura but the picture shown had it covered in some sort of mayo sauce (which we don't eat). There was no option to order it without the sauce. Also, please have soy sauce at the table in the bottles, so you can pour it over your rice easier than pouring it out of a bowl and making a mess. Overall, we enjoyed our dinner. Service was A+. Food was A-. Experience was B+ due to the ice cream machine and feeling a bit rushed. I don't love buffets or waiting in line for food, so the self serve part for us was probably a B-. We would definitely go back, but would give them some more time to work out the kinks and get into the groove of things. Maybe we'll try again in a few months. But give it a try and remember to make a reservation unless you feel like standing outside of the restaurant for a while. :-) read more

Having enjoyed other Chubby Cattle locations, we were extremely excited to see this new spot open up at the Westfield Topanga mall and visited during its first two days of operation. The quality of the dining experience, once seated, was exceptional, but we did have an initial negative experience when we first arrived. We arrived well over an hour before opening to inquire about waiting or putting our name down. The initial interaction with the hostess was unwelcoming and disheartening. We had asked if it was okay to wait outside the restaurant or if she was taking names down already. She said something along the lines of how she did not know if she could seat us because there were already five parties ahead of us. We were taken aback by the statement and felt like we were not welcome. We asked if we could at least put our name down and we were willing to wait. She said if she puts our name down, the reservation that she would have us under would not be till at least 5:30pm. We said that was okay. We eventually managed to put our name down, but only after checking Yelp and discovered a 5:00 PM reservation availability, which someone in our party reserved for us. Fast forward to 5pm, we told the hostess that someone in our party was able to get a 5pm reservation and we were thankfully seated at 5:00 PM with this reservation. This initial boundary to entry was definitely the only negative aspect of our entire visit. After that encounter, everything else was truly amazing. Our server, Allen, provided excellent service. He was attentive, knowledgeable, and offered helpful recommendations throughout our meal. Cheyo, the manager who was present both days. Cheyo was great, attentive, and frequently checked in on us. He even took the time to help cook some of our meat, ensuring it was done to absolute perfection. We returned on the second day, and the experience was flawless from the moment we walked in. The hostess from the first day was not there (thankfully!) The hostess staff on day two were great, very welcoming, and super nice--a big contrast to the previous day. The food quality was, as expected, excellent. The selection of meats and other items was top-tier, and the wagyu in particular was absolutely perfect. We do hope in the future they offer pasteurized egg like their other locations. Overall, we wholeheartedly recommend this location. While there was a slight bump with the initial hosting staff on day one, the exceptional quality of the meat, the attentive management (Cheyo), and the stellar service (Allen) made it a definite win.
