Extremely Disappointing First Visit Our group of six arrived at Chubby Cattle excited to try it for the very first time after hearing so many great things. Unfortunately, our experience was so poorly handled that we ended up walking out after nearly three hours of waiting--and that's why I'm leaving this one-star review. We arrived very early at 4:20PM, a full 40 minutes before opening, to secure our spot in line. We were 18th on the list, with at least 20+ parties behind us. The hostess who checked us in was friendly and reminded us to stay close because the line moves quickly once doors open at 5 PM. At 5 PM, the line did move fast, but our Yelp estimate said our table time would be between 5:57-6:17 PM, which already felt long considering how early we arrived. Still, we figured this was acceptable given we were all hungry, and excited to try the place out. Then things went downhill. About 10 minutes into waiting, we noticed a party of nine--who had been much further behind us--get seated ahead of our group of six. Confused, we asked the manager, Yuwa, why. First, she told us they had a "special" table for nine. When we pointed out that a table fitting nine could obviously fit six, the explanation shifted to, "We have a special table for parties of six." (Internally we thought this better be an incredible table for 6). This might have been a comforting response, but she showed absolutely zero empathy, and her tone felt dismissive and indifferent to our situation. Frustrated, we kept waiting. Over the next hour, we watched multiple groups--sizes 2, 4, 5, 7, and even another 9--get seated ahead of us. Every single party that arrived before and after us had been seated. By that point, the waiting room was empty except for us, which felt incredibly isolating and frankly disrespectful. We understand seating logistics for larger parties, but the optics were terrible. After nearly three hours, we were finally taken to what was supposedly the "special" six-person table--only to find it was the smallest single-burner setup we had ever seen. To make things worse, the tables next to us (identical in size) were seating groups of 3 and 4. Why did we have to wait 3 hours for a "special" table of 6 that was being used to accommodate smaller parties? Why not offer these tables to us earlier? Why were those tables acceptable for smaller groups ahead of us but not for us earlier? And why did they think that after ALL THAT, that this was the best table for our party? We couldn't help but think that we were being trolled by Yuwa, the horrible manager. We spoke with another manager, Chaeho, who was at least more apologetic and understanding. But even he ultimately gave us the standard company line about how he couldn't move us without checking up front again. But at that point, after three hours of feeling ignored and strung along, we were done. We left frustrated, disappointed, and honestly relieved to no longer be dealing with it. We came in excited, hungry, and open-minded--and left feeling disrespected. This experience was enough to ensure we won't be returning, let alone would we ever consider purchasing a Chubby Cattle membership. read more

So far it matches up with the other locations perfectly. Service: It seems to be a running theme for waiters in this chain of restaurants to be interesting, cool, and attentive to my needs. Alyssa is the latest waitress that was excellent to me in the Chubby Cattle line like Joshua in the Little Tokyo restaurant. She was engaging and helpful so kudos to her. Ambiance: Once again the design and layout of the restaurant is combo of modern day and old era of Tokyo. I love that they have a self serving station with a water mist effect to it. I was really excited to try this place, but everything was overall just okay. I asked our server for recommendations as we've never had Wagyu like this before, but she didn't offer any recommendations. So we just guessed on what to order. She came to cook our premium meats but forgot about us once she put it on the grill and they quickly burned and we were not allowed to order anymore. Our server also seemed really annoyed and frustrated that we were taking our time ordering?! She mentioned at least 5 times that we need to order more and to order it all faster. I understand there is a time limit per table and you can get "locked out" of ordering. However, since this was our first time here, I wanted to take my time with each course and trying what they had. The self serve area was a tight fit, and it was located where the servers grab items from the kitchen. It was a tight squeeze and I felt that I was constantly in the way trying to get my sides. The milk tea was so good, the options of sides and sauces were very good! I really like the look and feel of the place. Maybe my expectations were too high, but I was a bit let down with my experience here. On Friday before vday, we had a reservation at 1pm & were a couple minutes late due to trying to find it walking through the mall but luckily we only waited 5 mins while they prepped our table. The mall is very nice & big but we realized it was on the side of the mall next to shaded parking lot while leaving. Immediately we were greeted with a warm welcome from the host & told there's free milk tea at the front which was very sweet but yummy to start. Our server made us feel very comfortable & explained the whole menu throughly helped us order our 1st round as it was our first times! We got the gold tier that includes the sushi & it's so worth it despite our hefty bill being almost $200 for 2 people but it's high quality japanese bbq with access to unlimited self serve stations of drinks, foods, desserts, slushies, veggies/fruits. All of our food especially the meats were so delicious! Some melt into your mouth like juicy butter so we kept ordering each one since it's ayce as well. I love a great all you can eat place but it's even better when it's a full experience. Chubby cattle didn't disappoint at all. From the service when you arrive, the hostess were nice and inviting and never gave false wait times, to your sever. We had Arshia and he was very attentive, gave great advice and offered great conversation while we waiting for dishes to come out, we also had Andy who was equally as great with his help and patients. The staff in general, all a top notch experience. We waiting about 25 minuets but I'm told on a bad day you could wait as long as 2-4 hours. I purchased the membership because I ended up coming back the next day with more family. We got the Gold Tier and their A5 selections are amazing, you don't need any sauce and it doesn't give you the after eats heart burn. Their self served selection was a great experience and they had great choices. The vibes are nice and it's not too loud which all you can eat spots and tend to get. I recommend getting there early so you can enjoy the experience. The only disappointment was they ran out of steamed egg and yellowtail both times I went so hopefully I get a chance to try those.
