Love that this location opens a bit later and their pricing is pretty affordable! Took my family from out of state here to try some kbbq in California. We had an amazing time as the food was delicious, service was quick, and vibes were great overall. Our servers Patrick and Cody honestly really made the experience one to remember with their friendliness and humor. I truly don't think I've had better service from any other restaurant before, so our experience here will definitely be remembered. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Showed up around 10:45 pm and last call was at 11:30. We were able to get seated immediately for a party of 7 and began ordering right away. The menu we chose was AYCE for $26 and this had all the standard choices of cuts I enjoy eating. Our table rotated between brisket, beef belly, thinly sliced pork belly, and fresh/thick cut pork belly. Towards the end of our meal, we only ordered thick cut pork belly and beef belly as this was our favorite. Considering that staff and management kept reminding us that we only had until 11:30 to order, the service was quite slow. We ordered several plates of each dish at a time and only a single plate of eat cut would arrive. Before last call, we ordered 4 plates of specific cuts and only one showed up for each cut. I'm not sure how to improve communication but it left us feeling unsatisfied by the end of the night because we could have eaten more. It was quite upsetting because we thought we specified plate number to receive that amount, and even had to ask the server if they could make an exception after last call. Luckily they were able to compensate with 2 plates but it still didn't feel quite enough. Bonchon was served and this was able to get refilled whenever someone was available to come round with the cart. There was good selections to choose from and had good flavor. It was unfortunate because we got seated pretty far in the back of the restaurant which also contributed to slow service. The grill also felt unstable at times and because the grill does not directly have a 'slot' to fit into, it can slide around and leaves open gaps for the heat to seep out from. Caution leaving metal plates and bowels close to the edge as it can heat up fast! As the night came to a close, it felt very rushed again as they were trying to close the register and kick everyone out ASAP. They also kept coming around to remind us that we only had X amount of time before they closed and to finish all meat to avoid a charge. Considering that the service was slow, we didn't get enough to eat, and they kept rushing us, it was not a great dining experience. Before leaving, you can get some blueberry ice cream on the way out. This reminds me of a tart frozen yogurt that is blueberry flavor and was a good way to end the night. Overall, I'd come again but would request to sit a bit closer, come earlier if possible, and be WAY more specific when ordering with staff. Hopefully with more time, it can lead to a more pleasant experience.

First time visit on March 14, 2026 This is a very solid AYCE KBBQ spot where the sides were plentiful and our meat orders came out quickly. The establishment itself is comfortable with a good vibe and they offer free valet (which was really amazing as well. The guy was really nice and helpful). The main reason for 5 stars though (I wish I could give more) was due to our server, Darren(Darin?). He was amazing! He was friendly, engaging, quick, patient...... and best of all he checked in on us often enough that we weren't running out of food but also not too often where it disrupted our feeding frenzy. His service definitely stood out and I hope management recognizes what a star they have in their midst. I hope any customers lucky enough to have Darren(Darin?) as a server tips him super well!

This used to be my favorite restaurant during the mid to late '90's. I can't count the number of times I used to come here with my family. But, that's all in the past. I couldn't believe all the stickers on the door of the entranceway. Luckily when I stepped inside, it was clean. The interior was not how I remembered. It's obviously been renovated and updated since I last remember. My group was the first to arrive. They had just opened at 11:30 AM. There were three young employees. They have a process where they lay out all the side dishes before they seat people at the table. We ordered a combination. It came with an egg dish; tofu soup; white rice; and variety of meats, mostly beef, but some pork. There was quite a bit of fat on the beef that we cut off and discarded. We also ordered a plate of Japchae and seafood pancake. The food was still as delicious as I remembered, it was the fact that we had to keep requesting service that this restaurant gets three stars. We had to request bowls of lettuce; hot barley water; another pair of scissors to cut our meat because the first ones were dull; a new grill because the first one was all black and burnt; more rice wraps; etc. The restaurant is large, but there were maybe 5 separate groups here during the week, at lunch. Parking: They have a large, free parking lot in the back.

This has got to be some of the worst customer service ever... no one is at the front to check anyone in. Workers saw a bunch of people waiting and didn't bother checking them in or anything. The waiter was nice and checked just barely enough. But for the price and service this was definitely not worth it... I think ever since covid this place has definitely gone down hill. Pay the price elsewhere for a better experience and meat quality was just average..

I can't seem to get away from this place. I suppose it's easy because the banchan is good and the cost is reasonable $34 for dinner. Service always kind of sucks. They don't staff properly for the size of the place, but otherwise I have no other complaints. Poor servers look so stressed out. The air filters could be better, I always walk out smelling like a carnivores delight. It's a local fav among a bunch of other options in Garden Grove.

    1. The meat options were good quality! I really like the marinated pork belly! 2. The spot has fun casual vibes! The interior is spacious! 3. The staff were friendly and attentive! 4. There are only indoor seatings! There are a lot of tables! 5. Parking lot is medium size! Sports are single-lined and not compact! Note: There are restrooms available for customers! If you get here a little before opening the parking isn't open to the left of the restaurant entrance. You can still get to the parking by driving down Galway St and then making a left into the parking behind the restaurant. We were one of the first people to be seated when they opened at 11:30 on a Sunday. The servers were really nice. They were never too far so we could easily request for things we needed. One of them also cut one of them eats we ordered. They were quick to jump in and replace the grill before we noticed it was getting too burnt. The portions are quite big so we were good with the smaller serving combo for two people. The marinated meat was delicious. It had great flavor. I would have also been happy eating brisket only. It had a fresh taste. The side dishes were alright. We split the egg soup between two people. I wish they had the mashed potato side dish that's in the shape of an ice cream scoop. The water was fresh and didn't have a tap taste. There's also ice cream available but it wasn't offered to us but we were also really full by the end of the meal. The ambiance was alright until families came in with their crying babies.

This spot was my last meal before leaving LA and I enjoyed it so much! We waited a little bit for our table but it wasn't long. It was pretty busy & the parking lot was full too. The service was great....someone always came by to ask how we were doing, if we needed anything, and to refill our banchan!! Everything we ordered was enjoyable. The cuts of the meat were good and so were the portions that were brought out to us. I love getting Korean bbq in LA and this place is now a part of my top list! I can't wait to come back again.

Wow. What a great meal. I sat with a table of 5 and arrived around 8pm. Even though it was late and there were not many other customers, the service was a little slow. (Many "all you can eat" are purposely slow so that customers eat less). Nonetheless... the brisket was pretty high quality but even though I was ordering the prime brisket, I believe they were serving us the lower quality... The intestine and beef tongue are not good. I recommend eating the brisket with radish and rice paper. It is to die for. The mood of this establishment is very inviting and chill. You have enough space to talk with your group and it feels private enough to have bond deepening discussions. Great place! Will come back again.

Overall (4/5) A reliable all you can eat Korean BBQ spot that delivers comfort, value, and consistency. First Impressions (4/5) I have been here many times. The restaurant is clean, busy, and exactly what you expect from a solid Garden Grove KBBQ spot. What We Got (4/5) AYCE set with brisket, beef belly, short rib Soft tofu soup Taste and Quality (4/5) Meat quality is decent and consistent, not premium, but appropriate for the price. Soups were warm and comforting. Side dishes were especially good. Service (4/5) Staff were friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Space and Atmosphere (4/5) Clean, organized, and comfortable for groups. Was It Worth It (4/5) The lowest tier included everything needed for a satisfying meal at $42.51 as of January 28, 2026. Good value for AYCE KBBQ. Final Thoughts Perfect for anyone wanting affordable AYCE KBBQ without sacrificing cleanliness or service. I will continue coming back.

I typically don't like restaurants that you go and cook your own food, but this was definitely an experience. Everything came out great customer service was right on top of it. Everybody was friendly. It was pretty busy in there, but we never had to wait to get more of the things that we needed, it was a good experience I would definitely go back again

For a last minute thing, this was a good choice. Not only it was open pretty late for a Korean bbq place. There's a lot out back for parking. I'm sure you could also find street parking as well. Checking in was not bad. Said it was a five minute wait list but it was pretty quiet as it was around 9 pm. It was basically to set up for us. Also, the good thing with this place. They have a good selections of side dishes compared to a few others with only a few selections offered. Price wise was good for your classic and then an additional for the premium. It wasn't much different but affordable. Meat didn't take long to arrive which is nice when you're hungry. The selections and quality of meat were nice, seasoned well. The soups also did the trick and flavored and season well. They do change the grill like most places do. Every so often they come around with the cart full of side dishes for refill which comes in handy. Overall, food and service were great. Plus for opening pretty late. Don't forget to pick up your little dessert on the way out. Affordable.

All the tables were full and there was one party of 11 just ahead of us. Our wait for a table was like 30 minutes or so. Once we were up we were guided to a table towards the back for five. Our server asked if we been here before and if we wanted anything else besides water to drink. My brother and his fiance split a full order of the beef ribs and side order of sauteed garlic green beans. My mom and step dad split a full order of beef ribs while I ordered a full rack of baby back ribs which came with two side orders. I picked coleslaw and onion rings which I shared with the family. The food came out promptly. Everyone enjoyed their food. The baby back ribs were moist with flavor, smoked and went well with their bbq sauce. The rest of the family really like their beef ribs. And they even commented that it was better than the other bbq places we been to. Definitely will return and highly recommend.

*** SCAM ALERT *** I…read moredon't use the word "SCAM" lightly, but that's what this was. My adult son called in a $281.62 order off the menu for Mother's Day. They would not accept the order or payment over the phone because the order was "too big." They asked that someone go there and pay up front for the entire order. Since it was the evening before Mother's Day, I drove to them and paid for the order. Yes, I was also presented with a minumum 20% TIP screen, which I declined. When I got there at pickup time (4:00pm) on Mother's Day, the price changed to $325.51. I was told that, for some reason, they had cut about 50% larger portions than the menu specified (see the line items, which should have been 1 lb. each), so they charged me for the difference ($325.51 - $281.62) which was $43.89 (about 50% more for the 2 items they cut heavier). No, there was no mention when I placed the order that the total cost might change due to extra meat. Neither is it shown on their web site or printed menus. When I protested, there was no option. If I don't pay the $43.89 difference, I don't get the Mother's Day food. After about 20 minutes of bickering at the counter with two different clerks (note the time stamp differences on the credit card slips), I was given my original order, with a net price reduction of ($281.62 - $254.93) $26.69. My persistence had paid off. On a positive note, the cook did, twice, walk up to me and quietly apologize for what was going on. I know many folks would have folded in this situation, but that's not my nature. I don't stand for dishonesty. Yes, it was embarrassing, other clients in line were not happy (I let them skip ahead of me so as not to inconvenience them). None of them had price increases. I don't know if the clerks wanted a tip because the management doesn't pay them much, or it this goes deeper and is standard operating procedure that assumes most clients will simply approve of the overage and pay up. In any case, from this client's point of view, this is a SCAM! When it was all over, I took my 11 and 12 year old grandsons (who had been sitting patiently waiting for grandpa to pay) and my food package to the car, drove home and proudly presented the meat to my family. After all, I am a hunter-gatherer; and the food was great!

Finally writing a review for this spot after a few visits! We first found this place through Yelp,…read moreand it definitely lives up to the hype. It's located right across from H-Mart in Garden Grove, which makes it super convenient. It can get pretty busy depending on when you go, but I love that you can join the waitlist ahead of time through Yelp--that's a huge plus. They offer different menu tiers (A, B, and C) based on the type and quality of meat you're looking for, so there's something for everyone depending on your budget and appetite. Service here is consistently great. The staff is always attentive, walking around to check if you need more meat or anything else, and everything comes out quickly. The space itself is on the smaller side, but it's well-organized and runs smoothly. Overall, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in the area!

‼‼DO NOT RECOMMEND PLEASE READ BEFORE GOING‼‼‼ (especially the happy hour)…read more the happy hour is now $23, NOT 18. but with how its advertised everywhere, you dont find out until you get there. just go to Bullgogi for late night bbq. I came in a group of 6 last night. The host told us we had to separate into 2 different tables of 3, OR we could wait another 20 minutes for a full table together. we opted to wait. after waiting 20 minutes. she then came out and told us we could not sit together after all, and could take half of us first. Three of us went in around 10:30pm. The other 3 were not seated until 11pm (last call is 11:15) and were all the way across the restaurant. Because of the long ass wait, they had to over order to compensate for the lack of time, which led to left-over fees. When checking out, they told us we would be charged as a group of 6. DESPITE the shitty seating, long wait, and deceptive service. We didnt even dine together or have the same time together? I asked why we are getting charged together, and the server told us he'll charge us separately instead. Then we look at the receipt and he slapped the 18% gratuity (for parties of 6) on our bill anyway. all he did was split the bill in half?? absolutely horrid and shady service.

Honestly a very solid kbbq spot! The inside looks clean, and new…read more Service was very good. The staff were attentive and came around regularly to check on us and did grill changes regularly. The types of meat they include are pretty standard. The quality of the meat was good! Everything tasted fresh and clean. I also liked that they have a self serve bar where you can get the usual ban chan side dishes for yourself. I did enjoy that they include tempura squash, which is pretty unique for me, as I've never seen an item like that at other kbbq places. Overall, food was great and I'd come back. This is a good place to get kbbq without breaking the bank. I do wish the ventilation was a bit better though, as the smoke from the grill did get into all of our faces, but this is really just a quibble. I would happily come back!

Finding a good Korean bbq in the Garden Grove area is like a needle in a haystack because there is…read morean abundance of KBBQ restaurants in the area. Doing the appropriate Yelp research can sometimes land you a diamond in the rough find. Since I knew we would be in this area, Chung Dam looked interesting because they have a happy hour special which at first I was not clear how it worked, but when we arrived, the one woman team explained how it worked, and we right away selected our meats and off on our own to the well stocked and great variety self served Ban Chan buffet. Honestly, just that alone, you can get full and be satisfied with it, but you go to a KBBQ for the meats. With the HH menu, there's a limited selection of meats, but our go to are Brisket, beef belly and pork belly. As I mentioned the one woman team for the front of house staff, service was excellent. She single handedly took care of all tables bringing out meat orders, clearing tables and cashing people out, she honestly did better than some other restaurants we've been too with more staff. I definitely would come back here, but again only if I'll be in the area and it has to be during the Happy Hour time block

there are so many kbbq places in garden grove, so i hadn't had the chance to try sookdal before,…read morebut i wish i had tried it sooner bc the meat quality is so good !! my friends and i came here on a saturday night, and the wait was about 1 1/2 hr since the restaurant is pretty small and doesn't have many tables. when we finally got in tho, the servers were super efficient and attentive to us for our entire meal. they also cook the meats for you and display it nicely on the grill, so it's one less thing to stress about while dining! my group of 4 decided to split combo D, which comes with pork belly, pork collar, beef brisket, choice of stew between kimchi or bean paste, and cheese to eat with the meat. this was plenty of food for all of us, and we left pretty stuffed and satisfied! my favorite meats were definitely the pork belly and collar, which had the perfect amount of fat without tasting too greasy. it is probably my favorite bite of pork belly of all time! i also love how sookdal has a "tutorial" to show you the 7 best ways to enjoy the meat with all of the side dishes and sauces, and my personal favorite way was with the garlic oil sauce! it was a pretty unique and fun experience, and i would definitely come back!

Is this what dreams are made of? Intoxicating aroma of caramelized pork, umami flavor, juicy meat,…read moreand perfectly charred edges? Must be! The pork jowl and pork belly are DIVINE - clearly high quality. Workers hand us a sticker with specs about the preparation and aging process, which is oddly charming and shows how much pride they take in their meat. The staff even cooks everything for us, so we can sit back and stuff our faces. The sides are great too. Tangy pickled or fermented veggies, sweet pineapple, mushrooms, and soups help cut through all that richness from the fat. The pork and kimchi soup especially hits - it's super comforting and balances out the meal. This is also a great alternative if you're craving BBQ but don't have the stomach space for AYCE. These portions leave us full and satisfied every time. Overall, an amazing spot for a casual, pork-centric feast!
