We went on a Saturday for a date day and I was super happy to experience some brunch vibes. We're newish to the area and usually brunch spots around here are quieter and more run-of-the-mill. This had the right music playing, high energy staff, and unique food options with great presentation PLUS it's BYOB!! SERVICE While I had already prepared to not be in a rush, the food actually came out in a timely manner and in the right order. (Cuz yall know soooome of these restaurants bring apps and entrees out at the same time .) We also had a newer waitress and she was assisted by someone else, so I'd say the service was pretty good! DRINKS Like I mentioned this place is BYOB (cue angelic music! I love a byob). They provide nicely presented mocktails plus you can get a mimosa tower that comes with a whole show lol. I recommend asking them to pour two bottles of champagne into the tower bc the mix is pretty sweet. The tower also comes with a flight of mixers and the entire thing can easily serve a crowd. FOOD This is an INDULGENT spot. Do not expect a salad. (But also can you add a few healthier things so I can come back more often?? Just asking.) Anyway, most things are fried, even things you wouldn't think of like deviled eggs, grits, sweet potato pie... (We had all three and approve haha but I do wish they'd offer non-fried versions as well.) I saw someone say the waffle wasn't cooked all the way in a review... they make theirs more cakey so it's different than others--still good. For the vegan chicken and waffles I believe they used an impossible cutlet. It's good and fried separately according to the waitress. I love that. Still, I am like 50% sure this is not a vegan meal. Very nice place for Brunch. The food presentation is very nice. The food is delicious and very nicely prepared. They add an edible flower to every plate which is nice. The seating is very close and tight, and they are always busy, which is great. My favorite was the Peanut Butter Caramel iced coffee. The fried deviled eggs are the bomb. Be prepared to wait. I had the Shrimp and fried grits at this joint, which was a stretch for me, because they are frying my grits....I'm not used to that. The seasoned the shrimp well, and once forgetting that I was not getting my typical grits, I focused in on the flavor of the fried grits. In short, they cooked the grits, then fried them into patties of sort. When you bite into them, you recover the taste of those golden grits! :) They did a nice job with the dish. I also liked their service, and perhaps I'll be able to talk them into also adding shrimp and grits without the frying for options in the future. :) I would go back to check out more dishes. read more

Did a girl's brunch this past Sunday 3/23 and my girlfriend was looking forward to it. We get there and inside the floor is not clean. People gathered at the door waiting so it's hard trying to get in and out. We wait an hour and a half because apparently they must only have one table that seats 5 or more. We sit and the waitress who was good advised half of the things they were out of which was what we came for smh! We received our food with no condiments and when we do get them salt and pepper packets like we're at a convenience store. I tried the chicken and waffles never again!!! The chicken was dry, bland and did not taste fresh. I will never go back and have been advising my family and friends to not waste their time or money!!! If you want table service do not expect good service yet gratuity is automatically added to your check. Food is DELISH. I'll give them this. Excellent presentation. That's about it. Service is definitely subpar (never brought me ice I asked for, no utensils had to get them myself because no one was around, and gave me the wrong check), and they automatically charge gratuity, which is stated on menu. Had chicken and waffles, waffles were decent, chicken tender was mediocre at best. They offer this pink sparkle syrup which in my opinion isn't great. To each their own I'd rather have a decent maple syrup. Nice that it's byob. They had a dj on a Sunday, blaring music. This is my kinda place. They call it a "chubby situation". I felt so seen. If family, good food and music is your love language, you gotta get here. The music, the people, the service were all fantastic. If you're looking for extraordinary and creative meal selections this is definitely worth your stop. Now it is BYOB so be sure to grab your drink of choice and bring it in when you go. But they also have a good selection of specialty non-alcohol drinks that are super appealing as well. I had the fish sandwich and my friend had a fried lobster sandwich. Oh! Even the names of the meals are so creative. Reasons why some of the reviews may be lower, I don't think any of them have to do with the food itself. They do not have gluten free options so my gluten sensitive friends, please choose wisely as I know you do. Also, they should have someone welcome or greet people as they come in the door. There is also a 15% gratuity added, you can have that removed it can't be enforced if you don't want to pay it. I typically pay at least 20% for great service like I received here but if there's a required tip I generally don't add more so I feel like places miss out when they add the requirement but perhaps it balances out. They also offer a QR code for the menu but not a wifi login and the signal took forever for me to get to a menu and it was very challenging to see when I actually did get it on my phone. They do have paper menus so just cut to the chase and ask for one. I'm not sure why it's not offered initially but they are available. read more

I was brought here by a few friends who were so excited to go there, they dressed up to have brunch. The upscale atmosphere is decent, love the layout & lighting. However there are a few things that need to be mentioned. Imagine a group of dressed up women expecting to have a great time at brunch. Well, it was just imagined. When we walked in, we were not greeted, and had to go over to someone to ask if we needed to be seated or just sit where there was availability. We found seats. No one came to the table to even say, "I'll be right with you." It took easily 15 min for someone to come over to our table just to take our drink order. 10 min after that, still waiting for drinks, we were given a QR code to scan for the menu. The signal in there wasn't so great, so the menus did not load on everyone's phones. The drinks took 20 minutes to come out (40 min there now) which was odd because there are only a few drinks on the menu. The server... not sure if they were usually a server...took our food order which took easily 30-40 min to come out, and not all at the same time. The last of our orders came out 15 min after the others. Not sure what was going on but it seemed to be an extremely long time. In the meantime, other food orders were brought to our table as there seemed to be confusion as to who ordered what. Once, someone did come over to the table to check on us, asked how was the food? My guess is, since there is a 15% gratuity added to every bill, there's no need for a server to be attentive if they know they are already getting something. One of the workers who seemed to be in authority did return to the table a few times with random comments about this & that. I believe at one point he did say "y'all aight" if that qualifies as checking on the table. The playlist was decent, but, the music was loud, so forget having a conversation at the table, the level was more like a party, all that was needed was a dance floor. I thought it was too loud for a brunch atmosphere and my friends agreed. I found out the establishment closes at 3pm because the lights flicked off and on a few minutes after, signaling it was time to leave. Never, in a restaurant, have I seen that happen. I was appalled that after waiting almost an hour to eat, through no fault of ours, there was an urgency to clear out the people still dining. Lastly... the food was amazing, presentation was awesome. But food alone isn't enough to make me return there until some things are improved. I will definitely go back in a few months to see if it's different. They deserve a chance to improve. Whoever started this place has a good vision, they just need to execute it better. Customer service is important and usually a deal breaker. read more

I would have given them five stars but my French toast tasted like old grease (onions specifically). I feel like they should get a separate fryer for their sweet and savory foods. My friend had the same issue with her fried cinnamon roll. The pancakes and waffles were delicious and they give you plenty food. My waitress was a real pleasure!! I don't like the 15% "house tip" then them asking for another tip for the waitress specifically. I found that to be weird. The jerk chicken grilled cheese was banging and so were the fries. Black owned so definitely wanted to support. The place has cute decor, and a lot of small tables which were full today. After a short wait for a table we were seated. Our server came over quickly and asked for our drink order... We already knew what we wanted, so we started to order our food, but she told us to wait . So 10-15 mins later no drinks, not even water, and our server is nowhere to be found. We flag someone down and ask them to check on our lemonade, sweet tea, and water. Takes about 10 mins and the lemonade comes out alone, another 5 mins for the tea, and another 10 for the waters. And our server still hasn't come back over to take our food order. After another 15 mins we were able to order and one entree came out within 15 mins, the rest of our food came out another 10 mins later. The food was hot, and seasoned well, but bordered on too salty. We ordered the fried French toast, side of bacon, fried fish and grits (also fried). Almost everything is fried, which I wish they had more not fried options. Our server was absent most of the time but 15% gratuity is automatically added to the check for a party of 4 or less, and 20% for 5 or more, so there's no incentive to provide good service. I might go back some time in the future to try other menu items, but only for takeout. Overall 6/10 read more

Service: HORRIBLE- the server came over once and never returned other to bring drinks Food: needs severe improvement- lobster tail was super salty, shrimp equally salty, waffles were more like biscuits and came out cold. Grit cakes had no flavor no seasoning whatsoever, fried devil eggs lacked flavor mustard and salt is not what I would constitute as a deviled egg. There is potential here but you have to be willing to listen and implement new practices. Cleanliness: there needs to be constant wiping of tables and sweeping of the floor after every guest. We paid to have this establishment cater our baby shower and the day of our event, the owner told us our food wasn't ready at the agreed upon pickup time. Our guests had to wait an extra hour and a half to eat, and no one at Chubby Chicks reached out to let us know our food was going to be late. On top of all of that, when I spoke with the owner about this inconvenience, she was very short with me and wasn't pleasant to talk to. The decor feels like you stepped into your girlfriend home, the are bright pink sofas and chairs an accent of black and white pat and black walls. It's a fun look! The staff is friendly and welcoming. The music selection is upbeat and fits the setting. I came with a party of about ten people and our order was taken within a good timeframe. Every food and drink item came out with a nice decorative flare. There were orchids in the water! I order the shrimp and grits, both were fried. I've never had fried grits but it was well made. The grits were still moist and flavorful which I appreciated. There was a creamy sauce that was drizzled over the dish and it complimented the entree nicely.
