So the food here was very good...however we purchased the dinner and a movie here and on our reciept it showed we did...i put the reciept on our table at the end under the salt and pepper shaker so it wouldnt get touched...coming back to our table it was gone...so i asked the server....he left and soon after every single employee was staring at us making us uncomfortable...then we were so uncomfortable we decided to get up and ask the manager where our movie tickets were...he had to grab another mananger who pretty much said he didnt believe us....at this point every one of the employees was staring at us and customers....i hope your customers see that you guys did a very wrong thing...and to stand there and act like im lying to you!!!! Well, we used to be regulars, we congratulated the owner on how nice he kept the restaurant.... That was before our last visit, and I DO mean LAST. My mother was very ill, she just wanted their fried chicken, she knew it was yummy, so we payed, I got my mom a seat, and went about getting her meal. She was sick enough I hoped she would like her 5 pieces, and set it in front of her. No sooner had I done that, a couple of the Senior Snotty Police walked up to her and commented she 'took too much food!', implying she was 'stealing'. Then the senior nasty jerks went and talked to the second in command, who came over and requested we open our PURSES to prove we didn't have anything except our meds in there! All this was because those two seniors accused us of eating too much! In a buffet! We just stopped eating , and we're stopped BY THE OWNER, who told us, and pointed to places in the ceiling , and told us HE HAD CAMERAS PUT IN TO WATCH PEOPLE! Now, that was enough. First, he sends people around to try and shame people who they think are eating too much, THEN they send a MANAGER to open people's belonging!! And to top it off, the OWNER comes to threaten anyone by telling them they will be filming them while they eat! As we stood there, stunned, he bellowed ' NEVER COME HERE AGAIN'! We just ate a meal, not that much.... didn't make a fuss, and we were told to not come BACK by the owner! Tell me, everyone, would YOU want to eat in a place where you were treated like this?! There are so many buffets around, don't eat at a place that treats you as 'the enemy' instead of a customer! This was the first time we have eaten at the Chuck A Rama and we were impressed. There were lots of food items to choose from and it all was fresh. The salad bar is very impressive with so many items. The drink is included in the price. Our server was very attentive. I gave this place the last try, I keep hoping they will go back to the old way they were doing things before 2010. I cannot believe what the place has gone to really. I mean everything pretty much looks the same but it is not. I swear they had something that resembled generic ( Bad generic) fish sticks last Friday on the buffet, The white fish was GREY and they slim, all tail sections like they were scraping the bottom of the barrel, the Roast beef was the BLANDEST I HAVE EVER HAD as it was the last time 5 or 6 Months ago, It could have been textured protein and no one would have noticed. The chicken here USED To be the best. For some reason they changed, the fried Chicken is fatty and not crisp like it used to be, it;s literally terrible, the last Time I went ( 5 or 6 months ago) I had to tell them it was not even done, it was bleeding from the bones. So what did they do? This was after I told and showed the MANAGER, they took that chicken from the buffet and recooked it and put it back. no joke. it was obvious and I would not say that if it were not true, way over cooked and gross, that stayed there like that the entire time we were there and probably all night after as no one was going to eat that mess, I have eaten all the different days menus ad finally came to the point I would only try again on a Friday because all the other days were SO BAD. Now Fridays done. the clam chowder is generally pretty good and the rolls and salad bar is are always good, the dessert section is meh. but I can go somewhere else way cheaper than this for clam chowder and a roll. The Shrimp ! they have 2 type fried shrimp. small and smaller, cut down the middle, flattened and smashed then breaded thick . PLEASE! so weird they cut corners this way. it comes two ways coco nut and plain. Its all about cutting corners with these people now. the reason i waited till now to write MONDAY, is because I have been sick AF since about 7 hours after we left this place, AGAIN. What is better? City Buffet Chinese, Golden Corral In NAMPA - NAMPA Not BOISE, trust me, it's worth the drive if you are going. The one in Boise SUCKS TERRIBLY, They do not give AF there. In Nampa if you complain they fix it quick, but i have hardly had to. Things like no silverware, a taco in the spoon container, no tarter sauce, that sort of thing. The other review isn't exactly fair. If you don't like buffets then you're obviously biased. So if you enjoy a buffet, then I can recommend Chuck-A-Rama. I was very disappointed after reading such good reviews. I now know that the people her in Idaho review restaurants as awful as they drive. You people wouldn't know good food if I threw it at you. The menu is limited the food is over seasoned way to salty. The guy at the meat carving station can't cut that way over cooked roast beef to save his life. The fried chicken wasn't hot but still managed to drip pure grease when cut. The place should be called Chuck A Rama Choke and Puke. They have a good selection, and it's reasonably priced, yet you do have to make sure to bring an empty stomach and a willingness to eat more than you know you should. Their service staff are extremely helpful and nice, so be sure to leave a tip - because they definitely deserve it when you're leaving stacks of plates at your tables and asking for refills on your drink (of which they have many) of choice. read more

I feel like the service here was unmatched. Any buffet that my family has been to we have had a 'fend for yourself' type of service. We are new to the area and was looking for a last minute place to eat and stopped into this place on a whim. I can't imagine any of the other employees would be less than the ones working the night we went in, and if they are anything like the people working at that time then you have some pretty solid people working for you. One and Done! I frequent buffets all around the area and was looking forward to trying Chuck-A-Rama out. I was disappointed almost from the word go. The food selection was very lacking for a buffet that charges twelve dollars a person. Everything I tried was flavorless and overcooked. To be honest, I think boiled shoe leather could be made out to be better than the excuse they call roast beef. My comment to my friend who accompanied me to this nightmare was "I've just sat down to dinner in the geriatric ward." Of their entire offerings, the only thing remotely decent was dessert items. The bread pudding wasn't awful and the cakes were at least moist. My overall satisfaction rating for my dining experience was that I was full, but totally unsatisfied. There are much better buffets to spend your money at. Save yourself the disappointment of this abysmal excuse for a restaurant. read more

We have eaten here 6 times in 4 weeks since we moved to Idaho a month ago! The food here is fantastic. It has great flavor, texture, and taste. All of the food "islands" are kept clean and are presented in a tasteful, appealing layout. They have daily specials in addition to their regular menu. The Onion rings and BBQ pork ribs on Wednesdays are great! The atmosphere of the building is clean, pleasant on the eye, they have nice decorations, but most of all, even when it is packed and there is a waiting line, you don't feel crowded at your table or booth and the food islands are spaced far enough apart, you are not standing on other people. The cost for a meal cannot be beat. All meals include a drink. As Seniors, we get our dinner for $11.89, including a drink. At a competitor, "metallic horse fenced yard", the cost is $12.99 without a drink; a drink costing an additional $2.99. Lastly, the serving staff are all pleasant, smiling, and various ages and nationalities. They go out of their way to help you, whether it is getting you a drink refill, taking away a dirty plate, or if you have kids, getting you some more food or a dessert. You feel like a tip to the server is a pleasant, nice thing to do. We have eaten at many other "all you can eat" places. Chuckarama blows them all away, including many large chains in California. Best of all, unlike a lot of Asian All You Can Eat places locally in Caldwell/Nampa/Meridian/Boise, Chuckarama does NOT charge you for any food left on your plate. If you did not like an item, don't eat it. The servers understand some foods are not for everyone. Not one word is said about left over food on your plate. The dessert bar is full of delicious, fresh fruits, cakes, pies, and other desserts. At times it can take a while to get in here because you have to prepay but the food buffet is rather a small selection but most of its good.The desserts are really good and the drink menu is lots.I enjoy coming here from time to time but nothing grabs me to keep craving it.
