I think I'm just not a huge fan of Mongolian bbq spots. I don't ever get the sauces right and it turns out to be a bit too bland for me. This spot was nice and close to my hotel, food and prices were good and the service was solid. I just didn't find it too tasty overall. read more

I really like this place. The staff are happy and always make me feel welcome. The owner is especially friendly and talks with people coming in to eat. The sauces are full of flavor, much more than some of the other Mongolian BBQ places around town. I like it well enough that I normally eat here once a week. I also like the discounts offered to seniors and military service men and women. Oh, they have some good specials too. The Wednesday special is the one I like the best. Pay for a small bowl and get a medium. If you pay for a medium, you get a large. read more

My buddy and are huge fans of Mongolian bbq stir fry, the name #1 Mongolian bbq is a horrible representation of the quality of the food and the service received. The noodles were poor quality very thin and not flavorful not to mention the bin was empty when we got there and we had gotten the newly cooked ones. The sauces were not great either, they tasted watered down and even with a full bowl of sauce and then some the noodles didn't taste like they had enough. The owner/chef (cowboy cook) charged both of us extra even though we both made sure we stayed below the 2 inch rule. The building was also very hot inside easily 75°+ we were sweating and this was beginning of February. We also did not receive rice when we asked about it or if we would be offered a discount for the missing part of our meals we were told that it was optional, my buddy made sure to tell the cowboy cook that we optioned in for it... safe to say we didn't receive our rice. Bad service, bad quality food, I would recommend the Mongolian bbq on broadway and Boise ave, much better. Food was so poor I didn't even finish the leftovers. read more

Love the food here! The staff was extremely accommodating and helpful, we had a slightly larger group of 8 and they were great! Our server explained the process, you can either get a small, medium, or large bowl. Only the large bowl is AYCE. Most of our group went with the large bowl only because we wanted to try different sauces/flavors. If you get a small or medium bowl many people pack it in, but they do have a height limit over the bowl. You pick your veggies/toppings, meats, nuts, they have one type of noodle. Then you add your sauce, I recommend mixing, if you need recommendations the staff was very helpful. Add sauce and once you think you've maybe already added too much, add another 4 scoops. Each time we went up they had to tell us to get more sauce. Apparently the moisture helps with the cooking. They give you a small bowl of white rice in case you did a stir fry without noodles. Overall an excellent experience, we left there completely stuffed! read more

I love Mongolian BBQ. Anytime I pass a place and get the chance, I go. I live in California and we have quite a few places within a drive able distance from me. Overall, the service was above standard. It was a taller man in his 20's, and he genuinely made me feel welcome and got me seated right away. The overall look of the place was tidy, and the cooks appeared to be cleaning consistently. The only downside about the ambiance was that there wasn't much energy - a lack of music, or much to look at, maybe? On the other hand, the food wasn't all that good. I got the all you can eat and although the first bowl was good-ish, the second was very dry even though I doubled the amount of sauce I put on as the first bowl. It's almost as if the sauces are watered down, as the flavor was nonexistent. They have you put on a TON of sauce and even if you double the amount they need to cook it, the flavor doesn't get any stronger. It's also more expensive than any place I've been to in California, which for the taste, was a little disappointing. They do however have a good amount of selections of veggies, and meat. I definitely missed having some teriyaki sauce though. When I got home, let's just say my stomach wasn't very happy, which was new to me in terms of Mongolian BBQ. Overall, I can't really recommend this place. I think there's definitely some steps they could take to improve their food, especially after being open for so long. I'm sure some would enjoy it though. read more

Im over this place. Have been here a handful of times. Customer service was horrible this time. my wife had a small bowl. Staff comes by and drops off a box to take the rest home. Wife eats a few more bites. Still food in her bowl. Same staff walks by and decides she no longer needs to take the rest of her dinner home and takes box away. dont get me started about walking up to the cooker with a not piled high medium bowl and the kid says that i need a large bowl. This place is going down hill quick and if they keep getting crappy yelp reviews they will be forced to change how they operate. read more

My family are regulars at this Mongolian grill. The staff is friendly and attentive. We enjoy the selection of meats and sauces. My favorite is the fire oil. My dad enjoys the shrimp and crab available after 430. I get a medium and usually have leftovers. read more

Not all Mongolian BBQ restaurants are the same. 1 Mongolian steps it up a bit. Yes, the ingredients are pretty much the same as other M-BBQ places in town, but perhaps they are a bit fresher here. Yes, the wok gets just as hot as other M-BBQ places, and here the whole cooking area is kept super clean and organized. Yes, they have lots of sauces, but here they keep the sauce area really clean. It's really nice. One thing that they do here (or allow you to do here) is to include more sauce with your food-stuff. Allow me to explain the proper procedure for a delicious M-BBQ meal... First, place our meat in the biggest bowl that they have. Don't skimp. Second, add your favorite veggies, and don't forget the peanuts. Third, add the noodles on top. You always end up with more noodles that what you expect, so don't worry about trying to pile up as high as you can. You'll have plenty. Fourth, fill up the bowl with sauce. I like the mongolian sauce, and the bbq sauce at this step. Keep adding sauce until you can see it rising up in your bowl. Fifth, add two scoops of hot oil. Add more if you want it spicier (duh). Sixth...and here is the special secret part... Get a small bowl, and fill it up with more sauce. For this step, I like to get the curry sauce. The chef will add this sauce to your meal after it cooks for a bit. I noticed that other M-BBQ places will squirt water on the meal about half way through when the original sauce cooks off, but here they let you get more sauce to add to the meal (instead of water), and I think that makes it cook up better and the end result is a better tasting meal. For us, this place is a bit out of the way, but we end up going here fairly often, just because we like it best! ========== My mood ring is missing, and I don't know how I feel about that. read more

Food is amazing, you can't really go wrong picking your own food out. Staff encourages you to add more sauce , where other mongollian bbq restaurants don't let you know to add more. Ambience is really nice and unique for a mongollian, it can be casual or a nice date night. Favorite mongollian in the treasure valley! read more

Don't judge the exterior look of this restaurant like I did the first time. Once you go inside you'll see the difference. The service is great, the restaurant is clean, and the food is delicious. Fresh, fast, and tasty. Highly recommend. read more

This specific Mongolian is my most fave in Boise. I'm vegan gluten free and am hard to please. Let me tell you what sold me was the fact that I asked for extra tofu and they got me extra tofu in 5 minutes. The grill chefs cleaned the entire flat top to get rid of any animal products. Best best best in town. Not just the food was fresh and great but the staff are like a family and run that place so well. Will return weekly most likely. read more

We love coming here! Their water is sooo good, we love the food, such a great deal for the all you can eat. The place is very homey, my only complaint is the fish tank, there's some big boys that could use a bigger tank I think. But we love this place and come here very often!!!! read more

Was looking for a comfort food place as my day was full of annoyances and I found just the place, after squinting at the place to see if I was in the right spot. The sign wasnt on so I wasn't sure at first. It's perfect for a quick grab and go. The place was quiet dimly lit and a few flies buzzing around. Only a few customers filled their beaten up seats, but to be fair I expected all of this hence the to go order. I got the only thing you can get there, noodles, meat, vegetables with your choice of sauce, which was still great. This place could use a serious cleaning. The stick used to help with cooking was stored in a very filthy garbage bin with black stains on the side. The food was great but the filth and the flies made me regret my choice upon arriving home. There are other locations that are much cleaner and better in appearance. read more

The food was fresh, and the sauce flavors tasted incredible. The best Mongolian BBQ that I have been to in a long time! I'm used to a burnt like taste on all food- but not here. Flavor =5! Lunch price =5! I'll go back! FYI- This is not a fancy place. They do not have seafood at lunch. The "rules of Mongolian bbq" on the menu is pretty hilarious also. Ate here for lunch with my husband and it was pretty tasty!! I got a medium and he got the large but was so full he couldn't go back for a second. They have a sauce guide on the wall that I highly recommend you follow to make it the most delicious Overall a great experience and we were the only ones in there, because I think the rain scared them away. read more

If you're a fan of Mongolian BBQ, just be aware this one could ruin all the others for you. Fresh selection, great food. Service was so-so even though we had early lunch and it wasn't very busy when we first got there, or I'd give it five stars. Really wish I could give it 4.5 lol read more

This place was OK but not the best Mongolian BBQ. I like lots of veggies in my food but the veggies came out pretty undercooked relative to the other ingredients and the cook added a bunch of extra sauce which made my food too salty and oily. It is nice that the large size is all you can eat though and they didn't charge us for our (small) kids. read more

Been once don't think I want to go back. Staff is not very friendly and the place is filthy. I can't touch the condiments because when I did it was time to go to the bathroom and scrub. Just nasty for me. Prices are average for the area so if you don't mind eating whatever germy critters that the people before you put there, then by all means check it out. As for me I'll go down the road to the place that I prefer. read more

This is one of my go to mangolian places. Second to one other. They always have good service and good food always fresh looking. The inside is always clean and they are fairly priced. Plus you can't go wrong when they are paying Elvis Christmas songs for Christmas time! Got a big fish tank for the kids and TV with sorts for the dads. read more

I popped in for some burnt ends and brisket to go. The two servers behind the counter are completely discombobulated. And, one of the employees just touched the inside of my sanitized to-go container with their bare hands after being out on the floor, touching dirty dishes, handling the dirty cash register, touching other surfaces. and everything else. The other server seems to be completely lost and staring off of the distance wiping counters while there's orders pending. My order. She really doesn't seem to be able to focus very well and know what to do. For example, there are plates of food sitting on the prep table, ready to go out and she walks over and looks at my ticket and then just stands there and wipes the counter. My to go order would literally take probably 30 seconds to put it into a container, weigh, and hand it to me, but she just won't do it. And, the other patron's food is getting cold. It seems like the guy that's on duty is the brains of the operation and he's doing all the work. I get out to my truck and the burnt ends feel really light in contrast to my brisket order. I ordered a half a pound of burnt ends, and 1/3 of a pound of brisket. Something isn't right. I take the burnt ends back in and show the guy that was at the register when I came in, he agreed something went wrong. It looked like a third of a pound, but I would argue that it wasn't even a third. By the way, this was prepared by the girl working that was daydreaming. He then made it right and handed back my tray, which I was grateful. He was apologetic and he took care of it well. Just to be clear, he did not give me more than half a pound but he made it right. And then went to go pick up a plastic fork, that's usually over in a cup on the counter, but there were none. So I had to get their attention quickly and ask for a fork and they pulled one up from behind the counter, after I was told they were over by the beverage machine. They both seem surprised that there were none up there ready to go. The food as usual was delicious. This is the sad part. The service is all over the map and completely in need of some serious management and restructure. I realize that it's very difficult to get good help these days, but this is a training issue. I can't go back in now knowing that the last 3 to 5 times I've gone in there. I've always had a problem with service. If the food was piping hot when it arrived, I might not be so bothered, but this lack of efficiency causes the food to be delivered cold. That's not my definition of a good experience. If you have a lot of time on your hands, and you don't mind waiting, and you don't mind your food warm instead of hot, then I would say venture out and try this place because the flavor and textures are good. Just set your expectations accordingly. The atmosphere is comfortable and rustic. A little loud because of the openness, no booths, just tables and chairs with 1/2 booth. Lots of self service going on here so be careful before you tip at the register. By the way, I chose not to tip at the time of payment when I walked in because I don't like tipping in advance of receiving the service. The purpose of the gratuity is to compensate your server based on the service they delivered, not will deliver or should deliver. Or in this case didn't deliver. A lot of chicken places have been opening up in the valley and this place truly stands out. Most places are too scared to season their chicken but this place has an identity and expresses it through their chicken and BBQ which I need to highlight. Overall experience was 5/5. Ambiance was very calm and laid back, good music. The team there was friendly, approachable and personable and the food was next level compared to most places in the valley. The owner Sean told me they've been open for two months and are just there Fridays and Saturdays for now, but plan to move around in the future. The food was great! Everything tasted good. The short ribs were especially good, but I also enjoyed the BBQ stick and BBQ chicken too. The lumpia was delicious! I wish I ordered more lumpia! All the meats are grilled fresh right behind the truck, and the lumpia is fried fresh in the truck. So, nothing sitting for long periods of time. I got there right as they were opening, and others got in line soon after me. Happy to support some Islanders in Idaho! Good and service are both great!
