If I could give negative stars, I would. I don't know what possessed us to go back to this place, aside from the convenient location. Let me flash back to the first time we went there... *whoooosh*
It was a Sunday night (mistake 1) and I thought we were avoiding potential crowds by going at 9pm (mistake 2). It was very crowded, but something else seemed amiss... We couldn't quite put our finger on it, so we went in with the kids and grabbed a table. We got our, um, "pizza"... it was a stretch to call it that. As we sat waiting, we kept looking around trying to figure out what exactly was wrong with the crowd. Finally we got it. The was a very obvious lack of children. There was a party of some sort going on, but it seemed to be an adult party. I use the term adult very loosely. They were running amok, screaming, causing all kinds of havoc. We choked down our "pizza" and started to let the kids play. Next thing we knew, it was like being at a bar brawl, minus the pool cues. Two chicks started duking it out next to the whack-a-mole, and as if that was not enough, their boyfriends had to get in the mix. So we scooped up the kids and left.
*Whoosh... 2nd visit***
A few months went by, and I guess we either forgot or hoped it would be better... There was no fight, but it was freakin' filthy. It reeked of BO, there was what appeared to be traces of puke in entrance to the raised tubes (the ones the kids crawl around in overhead), there was melted ice cream on the slide in the toddler area, and oh, it smelled like BO. Did I already say that? It smelled REALLY BAD. We told the teenager working behind the counter that there was vomit in the play structure, and she rolled her eyes and sighed, then gave us a look like "what do you want me to do about it?" We left.
Every time after that we have gone to Dublin. It is much nicer. The staff is not a whole lot friendlier, but what can you really expect... you don't go for the stellar service.
Today, during a lapse in judgment, I agreed to meet hubby and the kids at the Hayward Carlos Queso on my way home from work (that's what we call Chuck E Cheese in front of the kids when we don't want them to know what we are talking about). We went in, met with the usual odor. I shot my husband "the look" which translated to "we'll be here MAYBE 15 minutes." The kids started going game to game, playing. Trying to play, that is. More than half of the games were tagged with out-of-order signs, or they just plain ate the tokens. 6 of the games they played did not have tickets in them. The kiddies love the tickets. Tickets allow them to drag home low quality prizes for me to find later in the couch cushions. It's like a prize for me too!
My son had a temporary tattoo on his arm he was anxious to show off. He told the lady behind the counter "excuse me, look at my tattoo!" She ignored him. He said again, "excuse me! look at my tattoo!" She didn't even look at him. Then his polite little 'excuse me' turned into "Hey! When someone speaks to you, you answer them." (HE DOES LISTEN TO ME!!!) She looked up unenthusiastically, handed him tokens, and walked away. Nice. Good attitude. He said to me "She was rude." Yes, buddy, she WAS rude. Funny that a 4 year old has better manners than the employee. I'd call and tell someone if I thought they'd care. Anyway, I WILL NOT go back again. I WILL NOT GO BACK AGAIN. If I keep saying it to myself, maybe it will come true. Seriously, it is sooooooo nasty. I'd rather take the kids to a gas station bahroom than let them touch the nasty games and toys there. It makes me appreciate soap, water, and lots of Purell :) read more
