Long story short, i now drive an extra half hour to my new vet because Animal Care Center is not the care my pets deserve and the amount of money i pay for the service. starts at the rude front desk. They don't even answer the phone during normal business hours. About 5 years ago this place was fantastic and the front desk was friendly, i recommend them to my friends. not anymore, we have all switched. also, the "tech" appointment is nonsense, the tech comes and gets your animal, no vet, and you are not allowed to go back with the tech. not allowed to ask questions because they are not a vet, just a tech. you would need to make another appt to ask a question?? bye read more

I was told yesterday that my dog Sophie was not going to be taken care by the vets there Mar. 19, i have the wellness plan with them . She is due for heart worm bordetella lepto vaccine and her teeth cleaned. The plan is paid as Feb 16 now i get to get to go to another vet and pay out of pocket for these services .when i had it covered by there wellness plan. I began taking my pets to Animal Care Center in Mount Vernon ans spent quite a bit of money. I got a kitten and signed up for their kitten package which includes neuter, shots, chipping, tests and flea medications for a 1 year commitment. I arrived to get my kitten weighed and was told they were out of flea medication for that weight. When I asked when they would get more in was told they didn't know. I kept checking and finally got it 2 weeks later. The receptionist wasn't very nice about it. Even though I was soured on the place I did have the 1 year commitment. BIG MISTAKE. I WOULD NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. I had also been taking my elderly aussie/border collie mix to them for galliprant and gabebetin and her yearly exam wasn't due so I continued She passed away last October 2024 and when they put out a reminder I let them know she was gone. They continued to do this over and over and I let told them again. I got another reminder today and went down there and told them what I thought. I had another dog and 2 cats (the kitten who is now grown that was on their kitten program). Funny thing, they never sent me reminders on any of them. I had changed to another vet for them but never told Animal Care Center. They just kept sending reminders for the deceased dog. I don't think they understood why I was upset. Its hard enough to lose a dog you really love and was once my Mother's dog before she passed away. I feel they don't care and don't have any empathy. She wasn't their dog so too bad. I was really wanting to like this place, my first initial visit was good and the girls were very nice. However, my dog has Giardia and the first round of medication which was just pancur didn't work for him so I went to pick up pancur and Metronidazole in the morning and the girl working, I believe her name is Mackenzie, was so extremely rude to me and I felt so uncomfortable and I kept asking questions about the medication and she did not want to answer and wouldn't even look me in the eyes and when she did give answers they were short and very condescending. I get if you're having an off day and don't want to talk but when it comes to medication that you're giving my dog I would think you would be formal and try and answer my questions, I'm already stressed about trying to get my dog healthy and wondering about the medicine I'm about to give him. Before coming here I was warned from someone else who went here that sometimes the girls aren't very nice. The other girls were very nice and the main doctor was as well in my experience so I don't want to discredit this place completely but I just wish people would care more especially when it comes to our fur babies. I will be going to another vet just to make sure I am getting my questions answered and don't feel guilty for asking them. I just want the best for my pup. read more

The office manager here is rude and condescending. We brought my dog here today and she yelled at my husband and accused him of slamming their door and yelling at them but he's not a yeller. Then the manager proceeded to yell at my dad. My dog is likely dying and they didn't care. Dr. O'Rourke never would have let his animal family be treated this way. They have zero compassion. It took me over a year to review this vet I was so angry with the service provided. There are two issues with this office. The front desk is young and entitled and rude. My husband is the most laid back person in the world and even he said this about them. Secondly, I do not expect vets to have all the answers but I don't expect them to throw their hands up in the air either. I rescued a cat and she was extemely ill. She appeared to be pregnant so we scheduled a surgery for spay and termination. Upon opening her up it was determined she was not pregnant and she had been previously spayed. This however was not the worst of it. I was told she probably had cancer and the doctor was at a loss of what to do next. The doctor up until then had been really good but I have come to the conclusion that she is just not that experienced. If you don't know what to do you don't tell a client that. You make a plan to do what is next even if it requires consulting another doctor. At this point I completely lost faith in the Animal Care Center and removed all my pets and went to another MUCH more experienced doctor in the area. He told me that it was a clear cut case of allergies and he believed having cancer was a very minute to impossible diagnosis. After running blood tests which were available in office and sent to a local specialist it was determined she had the most allergies he had ever seen in a cat. 15 in fact. Abby needed to stay in a collar following surgery with Animal Care Center for over a month and became even sicker due to her allergies. We nearly lost her on two occasions before getting a good diagnosis. We set up a series of shots to help with her allergies and she is now doing pretty well. Not perfect but happy. In conclusion if you have basic care needs sure go to this office but if it is complicated at all find another doctor that has more experience to see your pets. In the time of Covid we had a very hard time getting an appointment for our new kittens. Somehow I stumbled upon Animal Care Center. The person who answered the phone was so kind. She sounded like she actually cared about our kittens and what we needed, which meant a lot because I was astounded by the rudeness of some clinics I called asking if they had any new client appointments available. We were able to get in quickly and get our kittens taken care of and we continue to be very happy with the care our family receives. Thumbs up. read more

just got banned. I was 6 minutes late as they have no street address on GPS, but i got there. Since I was late the manager told me they could only do a quick checkup and I said thats all we were there for, because they said she needed a quick checkup to get spayed. I said will this quick checkup qualify? and she repeated and got mad when I said I don't think Im understanding you...should we rebook or will this qualify. Then she said 'you're so done' get out!!!Ive never been treated so rudely. I* understand we live in a stressful world, but come on. She was flat out angry when she came out of the back, because we were late. It is back on the street the rental place in on on college way, and the GPS kept saying turn here on all the roads. I call4d moist vets in Mt Vernon and these were the only ones who couold see he before a month. No I can see why. I recently visited the animal care cent with my 7 week old kitten. She had a bloated stomach that I was worried about, my old vet was booked up for almost two weeks so I decided to try animal care center instead, and this ended up being my best decision I've made as a pet owner. Not only did they get my kitten in the next day, my dog started acting ill and I called to see if I could set her up an appointment as well. They said to just bring her in with the kitten. I brought both pets into the care center and was immediately greeted by kind caring staff. They accessed both pets, and decided the kitten just had a case of worms while our dog on the other hand was suffering from something more severe. They suspected she was suffering from pyometra, they immediately started with testing to make sure that's what it was. They then operated on her that night! They ended up staying late on a Saturday night to ensure the care and safety of our pup. I was blown away by their true dedication to saving pets. I'm so thankful to now have a vets office that I can go to regularly and always trust. Please, if you are looking for a new vet go with animal Care center. They are phenomenal! Dr. Johnson is one of the best. She listens and really pays attention to your concerns. We had a very complicated puppy and she has put in many hours and reached out to other specialist when needed. I drive 45 minutes to see them. I trust ACC with all my boarders and my danes! Dr. J has been with me through a lot of heartache and has been amazing at supporting me and helping with knowing which decisions were best. She is also very amazing with my litters of puppies. We also very much love Dr. O he does amazing crops and is straight forward. ACC has amazing front staff and techs (I've gotten to know them all very well over the last year and half) their pricing is spot on. read more

I love this vet clinic. I started coming here after my vet retired and have been treated great. My dogs and cat are well cared for and the bill is always reasonable. Dr. Johnson is very knowledgeable and helped us with many different health issues as well as routine care. Dr. O'Rourke provided surgery on one of our working Border Collies whereas she was up and back to herding in weeks. read more

The turnover at the front desk is astounding and now Carolyn is gone? (Yeah, word travels THAT fast.) I heard that a corporation bought out the clinic, and that is super sad. Dr. O'Rourke truly was amazing. He always had the animal's best interest in mind, as well as not breaking your bank in the process. He has retired and things have changed. By recommendations given to me by the clinic, it would cost me approximately $400 per year per dog for general "healthcare" (visits and blood work). I am on a limited income and the care of my pets is important to me, but I resent feeling extorted in an effort to do so. read more

We recently had to have our elderly dog euthanized, and the staff was so caring, compassionate and concerned for us as well as our beloved dog. I have been taking my dog Cody to Dr. Tim for over six years, and he has always given Cody outstanding care and service. Seriously, I drive all the way from Seattle to Mount Vernon every time because his care and his staff are THE BEST! It is absolutly worth an 1 1/2 hour drive each way. If she is sick, he will conduct a preliminary exam, explain to me what he thinks is going on, and give me a choice on how to proceed. Some vets start and estimate, but when you get to the counter, its twice that, if not more. Dr. Tim has always kept his quotes/bills the exact same, which guarentees me that I know what I am going into, and what it will cost me every time. I cannot say enough good things about him as a vet. It is very comforting to know that someone is taking care of your loved one as if they were his own, and not trying to rip you off when your emotionally compromised. If your pet needs any kind of care, his expertise, clinic, and staff are well worth the trip!!!! read more

If you love your pet like they are your best friend, this is not your vet. Dr. O'Rourke has been amazing to us in the past. That said 3 times we have been scheduled with Dr. Johnson even after requests not to be. At each visit she makes little statements that are always negative or degrading about her staff. I have personally watched her yell at and degrade a female staffer. As someone who has worked in customer service I can tell you if it is that bad in front of the patients, they are getting treated worse behind the scenes. She made some serious mistakes with one of my dogs during surgery. To her credit they were open and honest about that. He recovered & is completely fine. We love our pets like family. They get regular dentals, special dog food, etc & all vet bills are paid on time. That is why it bothered me so much that when health issues have come up with our dogs- who aren't even old (eating a rock, new fatty lump, etc) her FIRST suggestion is to put my best friend down because treatment or surgery will be expensive. This has happened more then once. I understand some people cannot afford that and have to make that unimaginably hard choice. However it seems to me that should be a LAST suggestion and on a case by case basis. There are funds to help people or payment plans etc. As someone fortunate enough to not be in that situation, I was disturbed & upset that she went there so quickly. I have had years of still having my best friend, happy & healthy because I did not listen to her. Dr. O'Rourke made a huge mistake hiring family. I do not think she would be allowed to practice if she were at any other office. read more

If you want to go the the WORST vet hospital in Washington, this is your place. I went there to have my wonderful, happy dog Lafayette's front leg removed due to cancer. I believed there motto, 30 years in business, and " when your pet deserves the very best" what I got was beyond the very worst. She was in a 8 am and out at 6pm and died a painful death 2 hours later. They blame ME for her death. What a caring wonderful place. I spend thousand of dollars, 6 months, drove to UC Davis 2 times to have her cancer radiated, and in 12 hours the POS vet killed my wonderful girl. Now they want there money. I only wish there was a - 5 stars. This place is a disaster and the worst of the worst. BE SMART go some place else. read more

Unfortunately, Dr. O'Rourke and Dr. Johnson are no longer with Animal Care Center - along with all the familiar back end, and (most) front end faces - recently purchased by the corporation, Wellhaven Pet Health, with a promise of "no changed faces". Sadly, a lie. The quality of care is now in the wallet, I mean hands of non-familiar faces - the personal touches, such as "we've watched your pet grow", "know their histories", etc. is gone. Pricing has gone up astronomically - quality has diminished due to the "push them through" mind set of profit and loss - looks like it's time to find a new vet. read more

I drive all the way from Seattle to see Tim O'Rourke. I have a two year old great dane (Ellie) with a very sick liver, without Dr. O'Rourke Ellie wouldn't have improved as much as she has. I have never met someone as professional, knowledgable, positive, caring and reliable as he is. When I left my dog over night, Dr. O'Rourke was very good at keeping me updated with Ellie's progress and always reassured me that she was in good care. I have never met someone as concerned for other peoples anmials as Dr. O'Rourke is. He even calls during the week to see how Ellie is progressing and to make sure that all my questions are answered. Without a doubt, I know my dog is getting the best care she could possibly get and I would recommend everyone to take there animals to see him. Thank you for all your help Dr. O'Rourke :) read more

We've been in Wa for almost two years and have had horrible vet experiences until we found Dr. O'Rourke. He was recommended from a friend and I only wish we'd found him sooner. We live about 45 minutes south of his office, but would gladly make the drive ten times over to receive the care and expertise from Dr. O'Rourke and his staff. His "bedside manner" is outstanding. He's more than happy to answer questions and spends the time necessary to make sure you know what's going on before you leave the office. What's more, his office visit and services are less expensive than a trip to Banfield/Pet Smart. He truly is for the love of animals. read more

I could not be happier with the care given to my boxer puppy, we drive all the way from South Whidbey to be seen by Dr. O Rourke. He is one of the few vet who know how to care for show boxers ears and produce a wonderful outcome with no discomfort to the pup. I deffenetliy recommend this place! I got my dogs ears crop here today, and when I came in I met the doctor right away, and he's a really nice guy, and I felt comfortable leaving my doberman overnight there and I have no Doubt they will take great care for him . They told me to call in later to check up on him, and i did.everything went well and he is resting :).I saw another Doberman with ears cropped come in for a check up,people seemed pretty happy about it. So it does seem like they know what they are doing . I'm happy about the price too. It's 425$ . There's not much places that they crop ears anymore in Washington and I can say from my experience, this is the best choice in northwest Washington. read more

If you are lucky enough to get Dr. Tim you will be satisfied with bringing your pet here. But Dr. Johnson is a different story. She is polite when you first meet her, but if you ask too many questions, disagree with her or want her to clarify things, she tends to get an attitude and becomes blunt and rude. I was told by the staff that she is now the major in this practice and seems to be becoming more rude to staff and customers alike. I saw her chastise an employee about supplies and placement in the hallway by the front desk. My daughter had an issue with her treatment of me in the exam room and was voicing her opinion a little louder than she should have, which I have no control over, while I was asking to see Dr. Tim instead. I finally got her to go out to the car and wait for me to finish. I had made the appt. and was getting ready to leave when the receptionist asked me what the problem was, so I told her. Then the day before I was to bring my dog up to have Dr. Tim look at him, I received a certified letter stating that I was no longer welcome to bring my pets there because supposedly I had caused a scene. I guess that 6 years of being a regular customer and not having problems with Dr. Tim were worth anything. read more
