Seems like a weird thing to complain about, but my Chuck's cheeseburger wasn't greasy enough. It was huge and generally respectable, but my greasy burger craving was not satisfied. There's no place like Chuck's for amazing Buffalo Wings. I started coming here in the late 80's when I lived nearby in Plainsboro. Last fall I was visiting the area and had to stop here to see if they tasted as awesome as I remembered them. They did! Look, this is no 4 star restaurant so don't go for the ambience. The food comes out on Dixie plates and there are a few no-frills tables for "dining in". There were a couple of kids with skateboards when I was there, and the rest were carrying out. I mean, it's okay. I can wrap my head around people liking the cheap prices, but that doesn't mean I don't have some serious reservations. I like things hot. Women, weather, wings. I took the Spice Girls literally when they told me to 'spice up my life.' This has led me to be a little confused that a place that prides itself on its wings doesn't offer anything more than just one traditional flavor. I don't want to rule out the possibility of some sort of language barrier during the ordering process, but I'm nearly positive I was told there was only one flavor. They were still pretty decent, but I'm really not buying into the absolute reverence and seemingly unadulterated laudation for these wings. "Perfection" as one reviewer claims seems like a bit of a stretch to me. I only read three or four reviews before getting frustrated, but I'm going to wager that someone else had used the word perfect as well. Another reviewer went ahead to give his measured rating of just how great these wings are... "Meat: 7 Sauce: 10 Overall: 10" Again, I hate to make all these assumptions, but I don't think he's a Princeton grad with that rating system. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and gather that there may have been some other considered categories he omitted in his rather weak rating system. Sorry for ripping on you, guy. theres a distinct butter taste on their cheeseteaks, it was def different but good! wings were on the smaller side but crispy and very flavorful. ribs were a good size and fell right off the bone. i should have requested for additional bbq sauce on the side but it didnt make it a deal breaker. like another yelper stated, you would not expect this type of establishment in the heart of princeton. either way, id be back for their wings and cheesesteak! staff was friendly and it was a decent size seating area where we didnt feel on top of the other groups enjoying their wings. on a sat night i was surprised chucks was not flooded with college students. read more

The best buffalo style wings EVER. If you're picking them up on football Sunday, place your order in advance and arrive early, the line can be around the block but the wait is worth it. Definitely order to go, they don't have a/c. The sauce comes in different heats, all are flavorful and spicy. Their Blue Cheese is fresh and delicious. They have a lot of other BBQ type items that are delicious, especially the ribs. I enjoyed the fresh cut french fries, but eat them warm and fresh...there's no reason your guests at home need to know there were french fries in the order. read more

not such a fan of this place! there are three reasons why, and i will tell you what they are, here, on the website. 1) last year someone i work with ordered a tray of wings from here, and some of the wings still had feathers on them. nasty. 2) it's pretty dirty inside! it's extremely classy and upscale, but it's just not very clean. 3) it used to be owned by the menendez brothers! OK what we have here is greasy, terrible-for-you comfort food that is pretty damn delicious if you ask me. Since I heard the wings were so good, I ordered a plate of 14 (the smallest order). Yes they are small but they are freakin' tasty! I also ordered onion rings that came out blazing hot and were coated in panko break crumbs (2 thumbs up in my book right there). My gf ordered chicken fingers, and although they resembled something closer to sweet and sour chicken that you would order at a Chinese restaurant (sans the sour sauce), they were also good. The décor is a stark departure from the pretentiousness of most other places on Nassau; it's reminiscent of Hoagie Haven, but with a menu all its own. Chuck's serves a remarkably diverse range of fare - ribs, chicken wings, sandwiches, tacos ... if it's greasy or a dead animal, you'll find it here. The prices are reasonable, the service is fast, and the staff are reasonably friendly (if a bit incompetent on the cash register). I have been going to Chucks since the early 90's. Our family is totally addicted to them eating them a couple of times a week. The same 3 mexican guys have been cooking there since the first day we went. Those guys make Chucks, not the owners. So about 6 months ago we figured we would take the 1 hour trek to Chucks to fill a craving. I ordered my 14 wings and my wife ordered her usual 7 with sauce on the side. They were the worst wings I had even had. They had this weird chemical type of smell to the sauce that I have never smelled before. I asked the owners if they had changed the recipe and they swears they didn't. I wrote them off as maybe because they were on styrafoam plates and the plate melted and the smells mixed or something. Either way, we dumped all the wings in the garbage thinking maybe it was just a bad batch. So then about 2 months ago we figured we would try again. We got our usuals but I told them to put the wings on paper plates instead of styrafoam. Don't you know as soon as they put them on the table they still had that same nasty chemical smell like they had previously. And, the 3 guys who made Chucks famous weren't there again. The owner said they were off that day and some unknown guy (probably part of the owners family) was cooking. What happened? The new owners have changed the sauce or something and won't fess up to it. Probably all money saving measures to increase profit. Raw wings themselves are just raw wings, it's the sauce that makes them different. Whatever they did I would say to anybody thinking of going there . STAY AWAY. It's not worth the effort. A great place has died never to return. read more

This place is down home as you can get, that is if you lived in a rent-controlled single room occupancy apartment. Picture flourescent lights, tables and chairs from the '70s and a framed paper poster. Their bathroom is spotlessly clean, which you'll need to wash your hands after digging into the perfectly fried wings, crunchy outside and moist inside. The sauce is more on the vinegary side than hot, which is how I like my wings since I don't want a purple lip. The wings are small or appears to be because the skin is thin. I personally like thinner skins. The fries are pretty good. Not as good as Nathan's Famous or McDonalds, but better than most. Hamburgers are giant grilled patties on giant sized buns (larger in diameter than a Whopper). Also cool about this place (if you like murder trivia) is that the former owners were Lyle and Erik Menendez (look them up in Wikipedia). read more

Fantastic Junk food! Love the place. It is unpretentious and just serves huge portions of fries, chicken wings, ribs, etc. etc. The wings and fries are my clear favourites. But then again I haven't tried it all because the wings are so good that I crave them and just forget to try something new. I travel all over NJ for work. This place is sub-par, mediocre, not good/rip-off. I ordered wings & a cheesesteak. Smallest order of wings was 14 for $10.95. The wings were very small and had very little meat on them. The sauce was good but the quality of wings you could get better at a chain place like applebee's so that doesn't say much. Essentially you are getting about 7 wings since these are very small and lack any meat. 7 wings for 10.95 is $1.56 a wing. RIP-OFF. They try to trick you into thinking wow i'm getting 14 wings for 10.95 or $0.78 cents a wing, however they get the smallest wings I have ever seen. More like buffalo wild wing sizes. TINY! It was good to see that my cheese steak was a steak-umm for $6.00. Frozen steak, with a large sandwhich role so the meat only covers about half of the size of the actual roll and then is packed with lettuce & tomatoes. My lunch totaled $19. For terrible wings & a bad cheesesteak. Stay away from this place. better wings can be found at THOSUANDS of other places.
