I have no idea when Chug's opened, and now I am beating myself up because I come to this area at least once a month for brunch at Lulu's. Meaning I have probably passed this place I don't know how many times! Well, let me tell you this place will hit any Cuban's sweet spot. And no, you don't have to be Cuban to like it. What I am trying to say is that it just feels like "home". I came here with my very "hungry" usually never full/ satisfied husband . Honestly I had been wanting to come here for weeks ever since I followed their page on IG and saw the photos of their pastelitos. We ordered quite a few items off of their menu and none of them ceased to amaze us. My favorite was the pb&J pastelito but pb&j has always been my jam (no pun intended) ever since I was a kid. We also tried the buffalo chicken (delicious); his number 1 choice. And the Nutella, I am a Nutella lover so I kind of regretted when I had it AFTER the pb&j. I usually eat sweet and then salty. Don't judge me, I'm the person who also like fries with a frosty. I digress. My frita was delicious AND it had avocado (WHAT) cherry on top. He loved his breakfast sandwich. The best part is that they serve breakfast all day. We came on a Saturday around 1:30 and it was pretty empty, everything we asked for was available and there were plenty of spaces indoors. Outside seating is beautiful! I can't wait to come back during our "Miami winter" to sip on their delicious latte outside. Yes, I had a latte too and it did not disappoint. All in all, come here! It is worth a try and everything is delicious! Will not disappoint. Husband approved and was extremely happy with his food which means we will for sure be back. read more

Chug's is the perfect, modern Cuban cuisine spot. Although​ their dishes aren't super traditional, they are inventive, unique and delicious. The location is super cute as it has a beautiful outdoor dining area. There's also indoor seating for hot summer days. Street parking is available and there are​ a few garages nearby as well. DO NOT VISIT CHUGS DINER. We have gone to this restaurant 6 or 7 times and the food isn't bad but the service is horrible especially getting sit down in a busy brunch time. We are a family of 4 and had to wait 40 min for a table but they let in a two table Party who waited 5 minutes sit at a 4 person table after they complained. When we brought it up To the manager she was rude the bank on no one noticing. We have given consistent business there and the food isn't even all that great but we go for the ambiance and good service which now is non existent. With so many options in the Grove skip this go to an actual Cuban place or a great breakfast spot like green street. read more

The Service at Chug's leaves a lot to be desired for and the manager on duty, Oscar is unapologetic about leaving folks standing while tables are open and available. I've been at Chugs more than 5 times and each time there has been an issue with service. While the food may be reasonably good, there are plenty of choices in the grove with outstanding service. The ownership group, whom I know and respect should take notice. Hopefully they can notice the trend and act to correct. For now, choose El Felix and Krus Kitchen across the street. Alert- they changed the burger to this :( a sad bun and meh flavoring. Mustard aioli (meh) and no pickles. Why change a good thing? The chug burger was amazing, my fav in Miami. Our nice waiter informed us that they have the chug burger on Thursdays so I guess Thursdays will be the only day I'll go to chugs. Very good. Not great. We walked in and was greeted instantly. We decided we were not going to eat in the restaurant and do takeout. The staff couldn't have been friendlier or helpful. Something you don't find much of in this town. I ordered the Abuelitas plate. It came with a side of white rice and beans. About $21 when all said and done. Yes a little pricey for what it is. I chose the pork. The pork was good. I liked that the lime used which is typical in Cuban fare didn't overpower the meat which if you've had lechón at many Cuban joints in town, it can be a bit too much with the lemon. I didn't find the rice and beans very interesting. To be honest, they were a bit bland. I've had better but maybe it was an off day. All in all, we had a good experience. read more

So this is place IS VERY EXPENSIVE AND OVERPRICED, but damn. Everything here is good. Their breakfast items are always delicious, I love their coffee, their servers are always so friendly, and I love the style of an old school diner with a Miami touch. They have an outdoor seating area that's also shaded and SUPER cute. If you don't speak Spanish and want to be introduced to American friendly Cuban cuisine, then I would come here before venturing to the more traditional Cuban spots in Miami like La Habana Vieja. read more

We recently visited the new and mostly improved chugs. The decor is bright and inviting. We sat at the counter and ordered Iced cafe con leche. They're definitely working out some kinks as our coffee took as long to get to us as our food. We got the pancake and eggs with salsa and a grain like grits (harina con buenos). Everything was phenomenal. Delicious and we had no complaints. However some of the food is ridiculously overpriced - $19 for a child's burger basically ensures I will never visit with my family - but what we got was worth the price. There was also a discrepancy between the price on our bill and the menu, albeit a minor one they rectified. I hope they work out the kinks and have some more reasonable diner like prices because they're a great addition - welcome back chugs! read more

Stopped by here for a lunch break and it's surprisingly small. Not a large area to sit and eat but luckily it wasn't very busy. I ate the abuela's plate with the mojo roasted pork. I found the flavors to be very unique from the beans the rice and the pork itself. The garlic from the mojo roast pork is pretty hideous but overpowered by a citrusy taste. Very delicious. The black beans were very good as well and tasted unlike any other from other places that I have had black beans. Even though they call it a large plate it didn't seem like that at all. As a matter of fact, if you came to Chug's super hungry you might have 2 plates of these because one will definitely not fill you up. I also had the guava lemonade to drink which was very good and refreshing. Overall a great experience here. The waitress was definitely attentive to my needs and provided great service. A huge staple in Coconut Grove; always a good spot for that authentic Cuban feel. Before it is what you see now it used to be a small ventanita for local bikers and guests, and has grown to be one of the most underrated Cuban restaurants in Miami. .It really does have an old school diner ambiance, great interior design from the whole crew, and even the the music works well to tie it all in. Our waitress Taylor, was attentive amd helpful. ALL the pastellitos are soft, warm '& homemade like if your grandmas was in the kitchen. PB & Blueberry was top notch. The dishes are very big, & hardy. They have a tasty ricotta avocado toast & the Breakfast sandwich is huge, soft bread and rgg melts right into the ham. Wash it down with some great cocktails or the smooth cafecito/coladas. Lastly, the house flan is sooooo good, I wanted another one. First time visiting, have had this place on my list for a while and unfortunately was let down. The Greek salad was phenomenal, but that's about it. The service was extremely disappointing, which is strange since they boast about their Michelin recognition, you'd think the service would be up to par with the food. Took a while to be seated even with 80% of of the restaurant empty, received slight attitude from the server and then had to call the manager to confirm their happy hour prices, as our server charged us full prices. With such a good location and such delicious food, one would think that the hiring process would have their standards a little higher. (And I'm not speaking solely on our server, the entire staff just seemed to have attitude and no sense of work ethic) read more

I went there for breakfast a few Saturdays ago. I ordered the Lechon Hash which has lechon asado, mojo onions, and a fried egg. In reality, the hash was about 75 percent onions which were pretty bland and tasteless. Every bite I took was mostly onions. The prime rib croquetas are super good though. Yum! I was excited to try Chugs! It did not disappoint. I went for lunch and sat at the counter. I asked the server for recommendations. He suggested the Pan con Bistec. The bread was fresh. The meat was tender and flavorful, horseradish aioli was delicious and some sort of crumbled bread topping. It was served with fries and an au jus. I highly recommend this sandwich. The service was pleasant, attentive and knowledgeable. Mask wearing was haphazard and those who wore gloves (including my server) did not change or wash hands between tasks which included food handling, removal of dirty dishes with fingers in glasses and money handling.
