I got the blueberry lemon mule which was very refreshing. We got our drinks super quickly! For apps, we shared the pork belly bites and pretzel. I really liked the belly bites, full of flavors. The people with me liked the pretzels too! For my main, I got the coughlin burger with a gluten free buns. They aren't able to make all their burger options gluten free because of some of the sauces and stuff. The burger was still good even if it fell apart a bit due to the bun. Such a great spot up on Mount Washington. Known for their drinks selection (40+ rotating wine on tap, craft cocktails, and craft beers) as well as the food menu. I love those pub pretzels! My boyfriend loves the nachos. We both really like the French Fry Flight and the burrata too. Service is some of the best in the city. Seriously, it's like being greeted like family when you show up for dinner. The decor is modern and clean. I love the outdoor patio. We had a party of seven on the Fourth of July, but somehow we were able to be seated pretty quickly! That was good enough for us, but the service made it an amazing experience. They spared no time getting us our food so that we could see the fireworks downtown, they easily divided our order into separate checks despite the size of our group, and they even gave one of my friends a band aid when a glass shattered. Mind you, we're a group of teenagers, so getting this treatment from a restaurant was pretty special. The food itself was also amazing. I've been here multiple times but this is the first that I've seen a holiday design. They have a really cool keg Christmas tree outside with lights. They have indoor and outdoor seating and lots of TVs if you want to get a drink at the bar or come to watch a sports event. They also have a car lot across the street for parking. For a table of four, we had roughly a 30 minute wait but it was also a busy Saturday. Appetizer wise, my friend ordered the pork bites and was super happy. I had the brisket potato soup, which I found slight chewy for brisket. Entree wise, the table had the Mac n cheese, fiesta chicken sandwich and grapple burger. I've driven by here many times and didn't know how nice/big it was inside. I went with a friend for lunch on a weekday and it was fairly slow, I like that as wanted low key. They decorate so beautiful for fall - I wish I took photos. We sat on the patio and it was a beautiful day for it with a stunning view of the city. Had nice cocktails and beers, Brussels sprouts appetizer was tasty! Meal I had half rack ribs, sweet potato tots and cucumber salad (I liked the sides the most! It was a beautiful fall afternoon in Pittsburgh and we wanted to sit in the sun and have a bite to eat and a drink or two. Our waitress Angela was super nice and attentive. We had the pork egg rolls and they were delicious. My bride had a nice vodka cocktail and I had the pumpkin flight. Absolutely loved it. I had the pumpkin flight of beers. Each was very tasty. The dark beer came with a Rum Chata topper. The middle beer had a good local made pumpkin Cooke and the one on the right had a nice sugar spice rim. I suggest going there soon before they run out. Came to Coughlins for Galentines Day! Reserved a table for 6:30 and got here a little early. We were able to wait at the bar until the table was ready. I got the Spicy Gaucho Steak Sandwich. The taste of the sandwich was amazing but it was too soggy for me to pick up. I ate it with a fork and knife. I wish there was more meat too because a lot of my bites were just bread and veggies. I subbed mixed greens as a side because we got the French fry flight as our appetizer. Fries were good my favorite sauce was the balsamic Dijonnaise. My organization, Pittsburgh Girls Who Walk, went to Coughlin's for our monthly happy hour, and we could not have had a better time. Mules were on special for $6, so we tried every flavor variation, and not a a single one disappointed. The bartenders are all so sweet and so attentive, and we felt so well-attended-to. We shared the pub pretzels and the French fly flight, and everything was delicious. The house made sauces that came with the fries were excellent, and each was unique in its own way. I met friends at Coughlin's Law around 7pm on a Tuesday night. Parking was a challenge. There is a lot across the street for the restaurant, however, it was full. I ended up parking a couple blocks away at a garage. It was easy to get a table. It was a nice night so both indoor and outdoor seating were available. They have a good selection of drinks and food. I went with one of my favorite drinks (dancing gnome lustra). For food, I ordered the strawberry mango salad. It was good but I brought some home and it didn't transfer well for a leftover. Our waitress was great- friendly and attentive. I thought the menu was reasonably priced. Overall, Coughlin's was not my favorite restaurant in the area. I wouldn't necessarily seek it out but I wont say no to going back. :) read more

My boyfriend and I went and sat at the bar for the Steelers playoff game on Monday. All of the bartenders were very friendly and as attentive as they could be for having a packed bar. One bartender let us know all drafts are $4 on Mondays, so we tried a couple of Coughlin's original beers and they were all smooth and delicious. The food was even better, with the highlight being the French dip grilled cheese (I got an extra side of the garlic horseradish crema for my fries... definitely the way to go!) I finished off my meal with an espresso martini, a little creamier than I'm used to, but a welcome change from the norm. Came here for a work dinner as we had colleagues in town who wanted to experience Mt. Washington. They do not take reservations but we were able to get a table for our group on a Monday night. Our server was great and really willing to work with us on splitting the bill in a somewhat complex way, which was appreciated. We ordered the crab rangoon nachos and brussel sprout appetizers. The crab rangoon nachos were fantastic! Highly recommend. The sprouts were also very good. I had the brisket platter which wasn't bad. Their brisket was more almost like a corned beef texture. Hard to explain but it was good. I also enjoy their fries which have a nice seasoning on them. They also have a great drink selection, including plenty of holiday/seasonal themed drinks. I went to Coughlin's Law Kitchen and Ale House on Valentine's Day and it was the perfect dinner! We did not have to wait long for a table at all, which was so nice. The restaurant was also decorated for Valentine's Day, which was adorable! Our waiter was extremely helpful especially since it was our first time here. For drinks, I had the Frozen Cookie Dough Espresso Martini, which was incredible. The Smoked Blood Orange Old Fashioned was also extremely tasty. We started with the Crab Rangoon Nachos and Smoked Pork Belly Bites. I couldn't not stop eating both dishes. They were absolutely incredible! The nachos were amazing and surprisingly light and the pork belly was so tasty and cooked perfectly. I order the All American Burger and it was cooked perfectly. I had heard a lot about this location and was excited to check it out. There are only a few spaces to actually have a nice view of the skyline and one was booked for an event and the other didn't have umbrellas for the pending rain. From the minute we walked up to the hostess stand the hostess was not very friendly and really wasn't clearly communicating if there was a table for us or not. Once she figured out that there was space, we sat and waited for 15 minutes with no one coming to our table. Servers came to the tables next to us, and after some time, we flagged someone down who cut me off when I asked for some water and said she'd go ask the hostess to help us. Honestly, the prices on the menu were surprisingly low for a location that good and for bar food it seemed really yummy and creative, especially all the usage of seasonal food like the peach inspired drinks and burgers. But the service was a huge turnoff and we ended up leaving before even ordering as no one came to our table even after we asked for water for another 5-10 minutes. I can see the appeal of this bar if you enjoy watching sports, rowdy environments and bar food, but it was not for us. read more

I was really impressed with their "mocktail" menu for dry January. They have a wide variety of bar foods. We got the crab Rangoon nachos and smoked pork belly bites for the table, both appetizers very unique and tasty. I got the coughlin's burger and would definitely recommend. Doing a second review 2 years later because this time I was there for dinner and drinks. It was a gorgeous sunny and 70 degree evening in May. Parking can be scarce but I scored a spot in their free parking lot. We checked in with the hostess who took down my phone number and our preference to wait for a table on the patio. I got a text alert about an hour later (7pm) that our table was ready. All the staff were hustling on this crazy busy night. Our server, Ashley checked on us several times and got all our special requests perfect! We specifically picked this location because they have a dedicated gluten-free fryer in the kitchen. They were very accommodating for GF food options providing a menu that outlined exactly which food items were approved. Hubs got the pulled pork loaded nachos and wasn't even able to finish half of them on his own. My grilled chicken strawberry mango salad was huge, but the chicken lacked in flavor a little. The strawberry champagne vinaigrette was something that I haven't seen anywhere else. Great selection of draft beers and/or cocktails to choose from. It was a little too cold to enjoy the outdoor dining options even with the heat lamps.
