Order#: 565764907 We purchased a to go order on April 24th and the margaritas were so awful we couldn't finish the first one. They literally tasted like sugar water with no lime taste whatsoever. And definitely not anything even close to what is served in the restaurant. I'm not sure what was going on but there was clearly a problem. I have half of the syrup left if you'd like to try it. I won't charge you $30. It's sad that some companies mail it in during COVID - we want to support you with business. What would be nice is stepping up for when things go wrong. It started off great, can't go wrong with their Jalapeño Ranch, salsa, and chips. Mango margarita was excellent. Queso was lukewarm and runny. We got our usual Mexi-Cobb Salad and it was very disappointing. Chicken was dry and bland, hardly any avocado or green chilies. Even the dressing couldn't make it better. We wanted their yummy sopapillas for dessert and it's GONE from the menu! What the heck??? I remember they used to be cute fish shaped then regular squares but still tasty. Now they only offer Chuy Chuy Churro Bites with dipping sauce or Tres Leches cake. I don't think I'll be back, Chuys isn't as good as it used to be. By far the runniest queso I've ever had. The place smelled like B.O. The chips were so fragile they could not hold the pico de gallo, we were left with half a basket of shards after eating maybe 7 chips. We didn't get a plate with our chips and queso. The establishment looked depressing. Staff behaved like their dog died. We got tacos al carbon. It was an enormous plate of food but was regular fajita meat (and not al carbon which is meat cooked over charcoal or open flame, evoking a smokey, deep, rich flavor) with red peppers and onions all over it, on a flour tortilla, on top of a bunch of shredded cheese. I ate one taco, by then the other one was soggy on the bottom. From what, I don't know. Maybe the vast amount of watery cooked red pepper or onion. It was plain old nasty. Back to the 'taco al carbon'. This was stir fried fajita meat. NOTHING al carbon about it. The refried beans were tasty, the rice was your typical run of the mill spanish rice. There was a scoop of guac which, again, the chip could not handle. We will NOT be back. Ever. Very disappointing visit. read more

I have been coming to Chuy's for many years, mostly at the original, near Zilker Park. And it is most definitely an Austin institution. I was excited to hear that we were getting one here in the NW suburbs in Cedar Park (close to home). And it has remained true to form. Got out of work late today, and so we got here just a little before maximum Friday evening peak. 40 minute wait, lobby packed with people waiting for their table, noisy, music playing etc. So if you have an issue with those things, come during off peak times. All that said, every time we eat here, the food is the best. Maybe I'm a creature of habit, or maybe I just know what I like. But pretty much every time we eat here, I get a ground beef Chuychanga (Chimichanga). And every time, it is consistently good. Tonight, I ordered one again. The waitress warned me that because they don't premake the ground beef Chuychanga, that it would take a little longer. But it still came out pretty quickly... and just as good as every other time I've had it here. Service is always very good... well trained staff. And they know how to handle the peak hours. Let's start with they were SUPER busy so I am keeping that in mind !! We had a table of 4 and it took 40 mins to get a table. She takes off.. 10 mins later a manager comes by like we are trying to cheat the system, only talking about the drink, he was telling me we don't like to refund drinks with alcohol... Oh really, well wouldn't have been an issue since I ordered one without alcohol, and let stop right there, the bigger issue is the food, so here is the deal, refund us for the drink or the for the suck over dry cooked salty joke of a sauce... He talks off without saying a thing and 10 more mins go by, should I fill out an application since I am spending so much time here, and I flag down the waitress and again check please, she had a blank look like what going on and prints it back out and this time the chicken dinner was removed not the 10.00 drink, so it really goes to show this place respects the drink more than the food. After eating at this particular Chuy's at least once a week since the day they opened, today I ate there for my last time. Service was great as always, but a couple came in with two small dogs and sat them at the table next to us. I spoke to the manager and noted that it is illegal to bring dogs inside an establishment such as this, with the obvious exception of service animals. These were two Chihuahua type dogs dressed in clothes. The manager asked them about the dogs, and was told they were service animals. Total garbage, and nothing else was done. Overall the food wasn't good. The service, though was excellent. We didn't complain to a manger... we just decided that Chuy's would no longer be on our list. Now when I think about Mexican food, I think about fajitas. However, they served only chicken or beef. I am a pescatarian so those were out of the equation. The floor tiles have a dizzy pattern. I reviewed the menu and found the fajita I wanted. Noticed I was never given a drink menu so I took one from another table. Their special martinis didn't interest me. Chips and salsa showed up then my waitresses (2). They were pushing the margaritas and after I said no, then went for the spiked lemonaide, nope. Ordered my Dirty Martini with Tito's. It wasn't long before my drink arrived. Ordered the beef fajitas with flour tortilla. The trainee ask if I needed anything else. She asked this a lot throughout my time there. The chips were good and crunchy, the salsa had a kick. Sipped my martini and OMG, spicy. They put jalapeno in the olives and I wasn't expecting that. Not pleasant. Before I knew it, the fajitas are here. It comes with 3 tortillas, onions and peppers, sour cream, lettuce, guac, pico, rice, and beans. The rice was bland. The charro beans were tasty. When the beef first arrived, it was rare and the heat from the pan cooked it. The onions and peppers on the cast iron skillet didn't fair as well. No char just mush to the point that it fell apart picking it up. I rolled my first and it wasn't bad. Had a second before I asked for a to go box. Price wasn't too bad either. I visited the Chuys for dinner today with my family. This is one of the better chuys. The food was good and came within 30 minutes. We had a large table of 12 people so one of the peoples food came late which is the only thing I would have complaints about. we sat outside and they have heaters so it wasn't cold at all. He texted us that he would be late because the order wasn't ready. 40 minutes later he texted again and said the order was still not ready (a full hour after the schedule pickup time). We told him to forget it but he waited even longer and finally got the order. He showed up with the food and when we opened it up he was pissed because several items were wrong or missing and the food he received looked like shit. He was apologetic and we ate what we could, but everyone was very disappointed. I am familiar with this location so I anticipated that the order would be wrong and the food would be bad. We went on a Monday night at 6:00. Put our names on the waitlist before we got there. When we arrived they told us 10-20 minutes. We waited well over 30. We had a 4 and 1 year old with us who were getting restless, but when they seated us we had to ask for a high chair and my husband had to go back to the host stand and get kids menus and crayons. As we walked through there were at least 10 tables that were empty. The floors were filthy. We had to ask for napkins. When I said I wanted creamy jalapeño for my salad dressing the waitress asked "can't you just use what's on the table" I said no, that my grandson had been tripple dipping in it so I preferred not to. On the positive side, even though the service was slow, the wait staff was friendly though slightly clueless. The food was decent. You can never go wrong with their chips and dips. I guess this is a managerial issue/staffing issue. I feel for everyone in the restaurant business these days. But these issues need to be fixed. Food was really good and server was very nice but when I asked my favorite salsa and I told her that I want a big size and nachos . This Chuy's has the worst take-out service of any Chuy's I've been to. I have no idea why I keep going there, but I think I've finally learned my lesson. With virtually every order, something is missing, and you have to double and triple check to make sure they didn't forget something. If you get lax, you will get home and find something missing. And when you call to inform them of missing items, you get put on seemingly endless hold. I usually have to call multiple times after long holds, and if I get to talk to a manager within 20 minutes of initiating my first call, it's a minor miracle. Basically, the people who work there just don't seem to care at all about getting the order right. If I do order takeout from Chuy's in the future, it won't be from this one. If you are thinking of doing so, you need to double or triple check your order - and be prepared to have to send them back to fix things. But really, for at least takeout, you should avoid this location like the bubonic plague, and if you really want Chuy's takeout, go to another one. Even if it's a little more drive, it will be a lot less of a headache. read more

Can I just say how much I love Chuys! It's our go to place for fajitas and margaritas! It reminds me of El Torito back home in Cali! If you go you have to get a margarita the strawberry one is the best or the swirl and you can add in a floater if your adventurous! 2020 has been challenging and it's so great that they have outdoor seating and accommodate for Covid plus they have order pick up and bring orders to go to your car! We always order the big as your face burritonground beef with Jalepeno ranch! And Guacamole and queso! Sometimes I get the flautas and they have. A great Happy hour from 4-7 pm! The staff was friendly, we had a friendly and charming waiter. The food was hot and fresh. The restroom was decently clean. They had screens to separate the booths to help stop the spread of Covid.
