Excellent Hatch Green Chili sauce. Tastes great on their huge ground beef burrito. Be sure to order their Jalapeño Ranch dressing to eat with the chips. Its free in the lounge, but they charge for it at the tables. Its worth the price though. read more

Service was alright, I think our waiter was shy. The creamy jalapeno sauce was delicious to dip chips in, but that's the only reason Chuys gets any stars from me today. Everything that came from the kitchen was severely underseasoned. The salsa that came with the chips was more like a watery Pico, and tasted of just tomatoes. I ordered the Chuys special enchiladas, which aren't actually enchiladas (unbeknownst to me upon ordering). There was a black bean tortilla at the bottom, unseasoned chicken layered on top, then another tortilla, another layer of chicken, and another tortilla, topped with the most dull tomatillo salsa I've ever eaten. Overall, I'm not impressed with the cuisine. I appreciate the effort in originality, but it was executed poorly. read more

For chain Mexican, this is about as good as you're probably going to get. The signature dishes are worth trying, as are the daily specials. Great atmosphere. Great food and drinks. But why the heck do you allow KIDS at the BAR?!?! The bar is a grown up area where grown ups drink. Kids should not be sitting at the bar when there are tones of tables/booths open to accommodate a family with kids. Just my opinion. Poor choice on your part. read more

Guess Chuy's was off tonight. Waiter was pushy. (Mathew). Creamy jalapeño sauce was soupy and tasted mostly like watered down ranch. I really love this sauce and one reason to go to Chuy's. We started out headed to El Felix. I wish we hadn't changed. Mathew brought us 3 tortillas for 2 people. That turned out OK because they were cold and when you tried to roll them they just crumbled. So neither of us wanted the third tortilla. I would go 2 stars on this trip but when the food came, and quickly I might add, it was delicious. It just wasn't a great experience tonight. read more

This place came on high recommendation, but maybe today was just not a good day. The place was jam-packed and loud (although our party of 8 had little-to-no wait to get in). I ordered the nachos with no beans and a piece of tres leches cake. Have you ever put tortilla chips on a plate, dumped some shredded cheese onto the chips, and microwaved them for a quick and unsatisfying snack? Because that is what you can expect out of these nachos. The chips lost all of their crunch after being microwaved, and the cheese on top was literally crunchy from having been in the microwave for too long. To top off the nachos were some raw jalapeño pieces and shredded lettuce. The cost of this mediocre plate of 8 nachos was almost $7.00. I had high hopes for the tres leches cake after the disappointing nachos. The cake ended up being a slice of angel food cake served on top of a bed of cream and caramel. The cake was not soaked as is a traditional tres leches cake -- it was simply set on top of the cream. Again, this was disappointing for a price of almost $6.00. It was served with fresh strawberries, though, so that is a plus. Maybe it was just a bad night, but I suspect that this is standard preparation for their nachos and tres leches cake. My friends seemed to think their own plates were perhaps a 3 stars out of 5. Overall, I will not be returning for this overpriced, mediocre food. read more

This was my first time trying out Chuy's and it was great!! I had the fajita steak burrito and loved it especially for the price.

Usually frequent this location but was very very unimpressed with this visit. Hosts were rude and unwelcoming, didn't smile, and acted as if we had interrupted some important chit chat. Server (Mina) was alright but barely smiled. Watched a table next to us wait ten minutes to get greeted, and when they finally got their food, they sat another ten without silverware. To top it off, the manager came over, sat at our table and rudely squished himself against my boyfriend in the booth, and harassed us about our IDs before even checking to make sure he was at the right table, which he was not, and then barely apologized and brisked off. Didn't order any drinks, and are well over the legal age. Really unhappy and left feeling extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed. read more

The rice, beans, and enchiladas were good. The chips were nice and thin but the salsa is too spicy, in my opinion. The issue was the service. We sat in need of drinks several times which is even tougher when you are eating spicy food. Maybe they were having an off night. read more

We used to love Chuy's, but went there today and was very disappointed, so much that we left and went Angelina's. We were seated at Chuy's at 4:30 and ordered right away, as we knew what we wanted. After 45 minutes with nothing but chips and salsa, we told our waiter we were leaving, and he apologized and said the kitchen was backed up. There were several empty tables and booths, so they weren't all that busy. They asked if I wanted to speak to the manager, but I declined and told them this was my last visit. The manager needs to get this problem remedied or they will just be another restaurant that's empty. read more

Pure traditional TexMex; no more, no less, and done very well. Having enjoyed Chuy's in several other cities around the state, I was glad to see them open up in the Denton area. That said, with all of the great mexican food in the area (including an exceptional place almost next door), I'm not going to join the crowd and put up with the long waits that are typical here. Highly suggest planning your visit to eat early, or late; and avoid Friday/Saturday nights completely. read more

Went here all the time when I went to the University of North Texas. I went back to have dinner with an old friend and nothing has changed. The food was fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. I had a beerita and a stuffed chicken burrito. I don't know when Ill be back since I've moved to Dallas but this is hands down one of my top three places to get fresh Mexican food. read more

This is probably the worst place for large parties. The website claims to be of much assistance for these types of things but in actuality is not. One of the managers, Michelle, was rude from the beginning. She had a black hoodie and old black pants on, looking very much like a homeless person. Except for her nasty demeanor and the sweet bartender calling her "boss" I wouldn't have known she had an ounce of authority. After making my party of 20 including three disabled children wait forever to push a few tables together, which we had to complain about to even get one extra table, she stalked off to the other room! We were so cramped together it was ridiculous even after asking for one more table. The poor waitress took forever to get everyone's order. I had asked for two waitresses. One stood around and got drinks. We even had to enter the kitchen ourselves to get cake plates, more silverware and to go boxes!! . It was my daughter's birthday and I'm afraid Michelle made the whole experience quite awful. The food is fair. Service marginal. And way too loud inside. Won't ever do that again! read more

First time eating here. Was very very delicious. There was only 2 of us so we didnt have to wait, even though there were large parties coming in. Waiter was very nice and helpful. We ordered and our food was out in less than 15 minutes even though the place was very busy. We ordered the Macho Burrito with no tortilla and the Enchilada Combination with chicken and cheese enchiladas. Both meals were delicious and filling. The chicken in the enchilada was juicy and tender. We will definitely be coming back here and we highly recommend it!!! read more

Good & Bad... Bad: The managers are TERRIBLE. Everytime I am in there they are very unprofessional towards their staff and the customers. I literally watched one of the woman managers have a confrontation with one of her employees and then stormed off. Isn't that the servers job, not the managers? I am not a fan of how this place is ran. (at least from a customer's point of view). Verrrrry unimpressed. Good: The margaritas are amazing!!!! The guys in the bar are always really cool and have great service. Great Happy Hour spot! I have also never had one bad meal here. Fajitas and their boom boom sauce are both must try's from here! So we decided to try Chuys out since we've haven't been to this one. It started off good. We were quoted 25 minutes for the wait so we decided to go to the bar for a drink. We only waited about 10 minutes for our table. Our server took a little longer than she should've but we already had drinks so not a big deal. By the yummy description of the fajitas I decided that's what I wanted. When they came it looked good. I got the combo of beef and chicken. The meat tasted smokey. It didn't taste like the seasoning described and it wasn't that tender. I have had fajitas at many places and these did not taste good at all. My boyfriend tasted it and agreed with me. I waited a couple of minute when the server finally came back to check on us. I decided I didn't want it and wanted something else. She kindly took the hot plate from in front of me. A little later I noticed the manager walking by and looked our way. When we made eye contact he came over. He asked about the fajitas and I explained to him. He then said you had our fajitas before right? Regardless if I had them before I was not satisfied with them. I've been in the service industry for 12 years and I know you don't question customers. Our dining experience went from good to horrible fast. The manager had to just come out and apologize for me not liking it and that's it. He made me feel like he was dodging me and he questioned me. My boyfriend and I decided there are better restaurants in Denton to go to. The 2 stars are for the poorly managed restaurant. The restaurant relies on management in all aspects from front to back of the house. Bad management=bad food. One last comment, the server took our alcoholic beverages before we were finished. That's a no,no. Always ask before removing drinks. We had our fresh drinks but that doesn't mean we are done with the old drinks. read more

I wouldn't even rate this place one star. When it was time to order our drinks my friend ordered a margarita and they believed that her ID was fake and would not serve us. It was absolutely ridiculous. She just recently turned 21 a few months ago and it was her real ID. I've never dealt with such an ignorant server and manger.
