Amazing experience. From the moment we walked in, we were seated immediately (as a group of 5) and our server was spectacular. His name is kendrick and he's so comfortable and warm. He gave everybody nicknames, recommended things, and was very funny. Food was brought out in under 40 minutes and it was amaaaazing. I got a steak burrito with queso on top instead of the sauce and he even brought out a little extra guac since I had mentioned wanting some more. Chuy's is a chain restaurant that offers food more similar to Tex-Mex than Mexican, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. I like good Tex-Mex and for a chain restaurant, Chuy's is a decent enough restaurant. Chuy's started back in 1982 in Austin, Texas and has since grown into over a hundred locations through sixteen states. That growth in itself is pretty impressive. I went with a burrito and overall, it was a pleasant enough meal. Our server was friendly and professional and only added to the overall experience. The ambiance and vibe was also cool enough. The last 2 times I've been to this Chuy's the kitchen I suppose destroyed my lunch that my employer takes a group (20 to 25) of us out a couple times a month. The last time I was last to get my food and ate while everyone watched me because they were all done. Had to actually go INTO the kitchen to ask for to-go containers. Today we go again. After waiting an hour to get my food, and after 3 attempts to give me something I did not order, I finally got a plate that they "super heated" so I would have a hot lunch! Of course 25 coworkers were all pretty much done, again. And yes, it was hot. And also dried up and crispy. I just immediately asked for a container, not to eat this mess later, but to take pictures of to send to the corporate office. And back to the office without a lunch to eat and back to work. A steak and cheese burrito with nothing else shouldn't be rocket surgery. But apparently it's too much for an entire kitchen staff and 2 or 3 servers handling our table. So when you all walk away with that big ole tip I'm certain our employer left you, please remember, you are again responsible for completely ruining my lunch with coworkers and my chance to actually eat before I have to get back to work! They started us out with a basket of chips. The two salsas-- one was tomato based and one was ranch -- both had bits of jalapeño and pepper in them. Way too spicy for me. My husband had a burrito plate with ground beef. The plate was huge. The burrito was filled with meat and covered liberally in sauce. There were beans and rice on the side. It was a tad too spicy for me, but he said he liked it. He will need Tums tonight, though... I had their fajita salad. I got the dressing on the side and chose steak as my protein. Plenty of seating at the bar for lunch. Chips are served warm with a white and red dipping sauce...both pack a punch! The servings are "Texas Sized" and very filling. They used to be my favorite restaurant. The last time I came in I took a bite of the refried beans and there was like a pebble in the beans and it broke my tooth. I advised the manager and showed him the pebble and my piece of tooth and he said he would give my info to the corporate office.. I've gotten a couple calls from them, but my tooth is still broken and I'm in pain and I have heard nothing from them. Came back here after one visit almost five years ago because it was National Margarita Day, and wanted a Margarita. The only special for National Margarita Day was an additional shot for a $1 for your drink. No thanks I don't need that. My Mango Margarita was very good. The food here is a joke. It's just basic beyond basic. We ordered the Elvis Presley Memorial Enchilada Combo. They even have an Elvis Memorial Decor in the lobby. You would think they would put more care in their food rather than just heating the pre made tortilla rolls in the microwave and throwing them on the plate. The sauce we asked for on the side was in fact on side. Not pictured. Out of the three mild sauces, we preferred the double tomatatillo. When we got our plate, I just had to laugh. It looked like a little kid throw it together. This entree also came with a taco and two tortilla chips with a brush of cheese on it. Weird much. The server didn't help worth anything. She just said oh you are not ready yet. I'll come back. She just takes the order, but if you ask her a question, oh fine just decide and I'll be back for your order. Was looking for something to eat so we decided to try this Tex Mex. We had a reservation so our wait was not long. Our server Danielle was awesome and helpful. The quantity of the food was a lot. Love the freshness of the chips. And that cilantro ranch did is my new favorite. I had a froze swirl margarita which was amazing. We had the appetizer plate which was a lot. That is a meal by itself. My sister had the Elvis Presley memorial which she enjoyed and I had the steak chuychanga. The chuychanga was big. It was well flavored but too thick for me. The food was fresh. We had a mediocre experience to say the least. A party of 8, 3 kids and 5 adults. Our server barely took care of our table without being asked. Hardly cleaning and flipping the table (tons of cups and plates). The soup came out cold and had to be microwaved (like legit they had the soggy tortilla strips still in it from when they brought it out and then microwaved it. Like they couldn't even try to make a new bowl.) Then we were harassed by a staff member who was rude to say the least (30 year old man bun guy with gauges). We just asked which quesadillas had chicken, with which he rudely replied "The ones with chicken in it duh." After he threw our food on the table. And then proceeded to rudely harass my older brother in front of our family. Like what kind of management do they have or lack thereof? Overall if you want a mid Mexican style dinner, I'd recommend Taco Bell. At the very least their staff don't insult you in front of your family and their food is hot. We both got enchiladas and they were very flavorful but spicy. The beans were my favorite, pinto and creamy. So we came in to celebrate my daughter 14th birthday. There was a party of 9 of us. I tried calling in a reservation a few times and it wasn't until the day of that Johatee (?) was able to help me. He wrote a note that we'd be in later that evening and requested the patio. The staff clearly don't have any idea how their online waitlist works. In my conversations I was told to place our name online however in explaining to them that if it's a party of 7+ it says to call they had no idea how to help. Chuys needs to give an education to their staff on this and how to better manage large parties. If a large group wants to dine and beside seating for a party then you should be able to do as Johatee did and help out. When we arrived they patio was clear and able to accommodate us after about 10 minutes of waiting. My daughter party of 7 sat at a separate table so the teens could enjoy without the chaperones lol. Service was ok. We had to ask a few times for refills and for napkins. I ordered the Chuychanga with chicken and the ranchero sauce. The sauce was under and not on top and was not enough. I had to ask for more however the waitress was MIA so I got it to go along with my to go box. The margarita was delicious and the churros were gross. They were overly fried and just way too much cinnamon! What left me in a pickle even today is that my daughter's friend's chair literally broke while she was sitting in it. The leg literally broke right off. A clean shear! The girl thank goodness didn't hit her head on the wall however was clearly embarrassed at what happened as the patio was full. We typically love Chuy's - we live an hour away and drive up specifically to eat here occasionally. Bonus - they've FINALLY brought the Elvis fried chicken back!! I was so excited. Unfortunately, 2 of the 4 of us ordered the Elvis friend chicken, and both came out uncooked! I cut into mine and it was almost completely raw. My son got 1/3 into his before he found it wasn't cooked through. When 50% of your table receives uncooked food and then has to wait for new plates to be made and served, you'd think management would do something about it - but NOPE! Didn't offer to comp the uncooked dishes, didn't even offer a dessert. Shocking and disappointing. We were recommended this place by some friends, and we overall enjoyed our first experience. We LOVED the pictures of dogs all over the walls and want to bring back our daughter just so she can see that. You can even bring a framed picture of your dog and get a free appetizer. The salsa was good, definitely not the best, pretty watery. My husband and I shared the Elvis Memorial dish that had three types of enchiladas, a taco, and queso coated tostadas. The queso was tasty. The tostadas were hard and even chewy in some areas. The taco wasn't bad, nothing special. On this whole platter, my favorite part was the refried beans. REALLY good refried beans. But at the same point it's sad that refried beans were the highlight. I didn't really care for the chicken enchilada, but I normally don't like tomatillo sauce. The cheese enchilada with ranchero sauce was very good. The ground beef with texmex sauce was okay. I think I'd be happier with a different menu item or to at least get all of the same enchilada. I'm not a lover of Tex Mex but Chuy's in Lutz is a franchise option for some good food and drinks. I think was truly stands out is their free salsa pictured with the chips. It is soooo flavorful and mildly spicy. I wouldn't suggest it for kids with a sensitive palate. The fajita and the shrimp tacos are good as well. I would not suggest the guacamole, disappointing. I love this Chuy's! Luckily we've never had to wait more than 10 minutes for a table. The service has always been good. The food is consistently good as well. I love their chicken flautas. So crunchy and so delicious dipped in sour cream. The steak burrito is huge! This is hubby's go to item. He gets it with boom boom sauce instead of hatch green chile sauce. This was a tale of two restaurants - the one that was absolutely amazing, and the restaurant that was ... "heh". Unfortunately It started off on a bad foot when we arrived and waited at the check in desk where one is usually greeted by the hostess only to find no hostess. We waited...and waited...and waited. I finally wandered into the dining room and asked one of the servers if we were supposed to sit ourselves. He stated that someone should be there any minute to help us. By the time the hostess showed up there were about 15 people behind us. But, it did get better. The service by Abigail was on point and she was really hustling. She took our orders, got our drinks, and checked on us throughout our meal. She was a great employee and did a great job. The Good: Get their Queso. It's a blend of cheese, green chili, and ranchero sauce ($8.49), and be sure to add the seasoned ground beef, guacamole, and pico de gallo for $1.00 more. It had great taste, great texture, and a nice bite to it. It's Excellent!! The Not So Good: I ordered their Steak Burrito ($13.69) which was touted as a flour tortilla stuffed with grilled steak and Jack cheese topped with Hatch Green Chile sauce. Having just moved back from New Mexico to Florida, the thought of great Hatch Green Chile sauce had me hooked. Sadly, the Hatch Green Chile sauce in Lutz Florida is not anything near the amazing Hatch Green Chile sauce in Las Cruces, NM. I found my burrito very disappointing. Additionally the steak was over salted (IMO). I would not order their burrito again. Poor greeting, offset by great service, followed by an excellent appetizer, only to be finished by a disappointing entrée leads me to only 3 Stars. I would suggest the cook take a 3 month sabbatical in New Mexico and discover what true Hatch Green Chile is all about. I recommend you give them a try and draw your own conclusion. read more

Chuy's - Where the Ranch is Random, the Wait is Eternal, and the Ambiance is... Well, Let's Just Call It "Confusing." So, there I was, looking forward to a casual night out, thinking, "Chuy's will be fun!" You know, margaritas, chips, salsa, good vibes. How wrong I was. Spoiler alert: Everything went sideways. Upon arrival, our waitress came over with a trainee in tow. Cute, right? I mean, who doesn't love a little server-in-training action? But little did I know, this would be a masterclass in restaurant mismanagement. We ordered two blackberry margaritas (because, you know, why not?), and the chips and salsa arrived. The chips? Hot. The salsa? Spicy. Our bad for not immediately asking for water, but, seriously, every other restaurant brings water with chips. Chuy's? Not even close. You get water only after a 20-minute margarita delay. And trust me, those chips could've used a side of water to help us survive the salt and spice inferno. A few minutes in, we were in the middle of trying to survive the chip massacre when the trainee arrives, holding a random bowl of ranch dressing. Hereins after known as the Random ranch! We didn't ask for it, but here it was anyway, as if it were an extra accessory on sale--just in case we needed it for... something. Then came Peach Fishing Shirt Guy (yes, that's his official title now), walking around to various tables offering my margarita to everyone except me. I watched him make the full lap of the restaurant before finally delivering it to my table, but not to me, the guy with an empty space, but instead to my date. But there was no "Here you go!" or "Enjoy!" He just plopped it down and left. I was left wondering if I was supposed to be a mind reader to figure out how to enjoy the drink that took 15 minutes to arrive. Finally, we got chips, salsa, water, and yes, a mystery ranch. It wasn't perfect, but it was something. And then, at last, the waitress came back to take our orders. I went with the "Big as Your Face Burrito" (because, obviously) and my date ordered two tacos and a salad. Now, here's where things took a twist--round two of salad dressing arrived! But wait, this wasn't random ranch. Oh no. This was their creamy cilantro dressing, which, to their credit, was meant for the salad that came with the main course (not 15 minutes later, as I had feared). But, honestly, we were all just confused at this point. So, as we continued to ponder the mystery of the ranch, we noticed a group of gals at another table who looked a bit distraught. Their salad was dry. Aha! We'd found the owner of the random ranch. So, if you're wondering: no, the ranch wasn't special. It was the kind of ranch you get from a bottle, but they put it in a bowl and served it like it was a delicacy. When the food finally arrived, the burrito was... meh. Not "Big as Your Face," more like "Meh as Your Face." It wasn't awful, but it wasn't memorable. Nothing to write home about ......wouldn't even bother sending a text about it. But the tacos... oh boy. Imagine two flour tortillas barely holding a suggestion of ground beef, lettuce, cheese, and a side of guac. That was it. The meat was so dry it could've doubled as a shoe insert. Honestly, we were just trying to eat through the pain at this point. Now, the interior of the restaurant deserves its own section in this review, because what was going on in there? The motif was a unique design of confusion. It was like they took "random" and "small" and just put it all together, added in some fake trees and cheap seating, tiny tables, and a general sense of we have no idea. It felt cramped, like they were trying to make it cozy but instead achieved "we're all sitting on top of each other." And the cherry on top? Despite several visits from the staff, no one ever cleared any of our used plates. The chip basket sat there, empty. The salad dressing bowls piled up, leaving our table looking like an art installation made entirely of food waste. The more stuff we had on the table, the smaller it seemed to get. And finally, let's talk about Peach Fishing Shirt Guy one last time. Now, we suspect he might actually be the manager, and as the Russians say, " " (Google it), which perfectly describes the disorganized chaos we witnessed. So, if you're wondering where things went wrong, just look at the guy in the peach shirt. The bill came to a neat $75.00 with tip. Sure, I tipped over 20% because the staff were, basically, doing their best despite all the confusion. I usually tip well unless they do something incredibly dumb, and even though things were wild, the staff seemed genuinely kind. Would I return? No. There are so many better options out there. And dinner should be about the experience, not just the food. And Chuy's? Well, it was an experience, but not the kind I'll be seeking out again anytime soon. read more

Tacos are great, the refried beans are homemade, and take note..fresh food is feature here! We have been here twice and nothing bad!! Oh man...I gave 3 stars last time and I'm a patron because my daughter likes the food. But, tonight was definitely a disappointment. Some friends were in town so we had a party of 7. Should have been a sign when the online reservation tool wouldn't let us make a reservation for more than 6 people. We get there at around 5:30 and are told that they are closing early at 8pM with the kitchen closing at 7:30 for a Christmas party. They said they would try to seat us, but no promises (even though we could see multiple open tables). Around 20 minutes later, we ask if we could just split between 2 tables...lo and behold a table is open that is big enough to seat all 7 of us. I knew we were going to be in for a long night. Server was courteous and took our drink order at around 5:50. We get our drinks and ask to put our order in at 6. We sat and during this time multiple other parties were sat and orders taken. For the next 50 minutes we waited for our food while what looked like every other party that came in after us was served. We had chips and queso and drinks, but that was pretty much it, not even silverware. When the food finally came out, it was lukewarm...we asked the server for to go boxes and she asked if everything was OK. We advised of the wait time and that the food wasn't hot so she got her manager. The manager came by and we explained the situation and politely declined the offer to refire the food as we were ready to go at that point. At that point, she walked away with no further interaction. As a side note, we overheard the table next to us complaining their chicken was undercooked. This isn't just a bad experience, but a potential health hazard! The only redeeming factor is that the bill was reduced by 50%. Now, I get that Covid and the holidays create challenges, but these are the experiences businesses have to avoid like the plague. I hope management sees this and takes it as constructive criticism to help plan for capacity in the future and to address the seemingly minor serving and reservation issues they have. I will be boycotting for a bit of time and told my daughter so she's not surprised if I say no to a request to come here. Chuys quirky interior decor features hand-carved wooden fish ​"swimming" from the ceiling, hubcaps hanging bright and shiny above your table booth, a chihuahua room dedicated to the dogs in the community, and a colorful Elvis shrine. In fact, if you bring in a picture of your dog, you get a free appetizer! The Complimentary Chips & Salsa came with a salsa that had more of a vinegar taste that was different from what I am used to but I liked it. 8/10 The Tortilla Soup consisted of home-made chicken broth with roasted chicken, corn, green chiles, tomatoes & cilantro, topped with cheese, diced avocado & tortilla strips. The melted cheese was awesome and the tortilla stripes added some nice crunch! 9/10 The Baja Shrimp tacos came in 3 Flour tortillas with lightly battered and fried shrimp, cilantro, cabbage, pico de gallo & Creamy Jalapeño sauce. 9/10 The Chicka-Chicka Boom-Boom Chicken Burrito came with Roasted chicken & cheese with the fan favorite Boom-Boom sauce with Mexican rice and beans. 8/10 The Chuychanga came with a large flour tortilla filled with roasted chicken, cheese, cilantro & green chiles, deep fried & served with one of our Sig­na­ture Sauces & a scoop of sour cream. 9/10 The Tres Leches Dessert came with a generous slice of Chuy's sig­na­ture cake made with three milks, served with house-made créme fraiche, caramel and strawberries. So we came here on Wednesday night because were to tired to cook. Wanted to get quick dinner. I never been here before but my husband came here in his early high school days many years ago. They bring chips and salsa as much as you want for free and those are pretty good. I would say salsa was pretty authentic. I ordered a salad and it was a huge mistake. Chicken inside a salad was full of gross fatty pieces... I end up picking chicken out and eating. A salad without chicken. I don't know how hard it to mess up the chicken but they did. Was probably one of the worst chicken I ever tried, absolutely inedible. My husband had taco and enchilada combo. Portion was huge and it tasted ok. Bathroom was absolutely gross, looked like a gas station bathroom at I-95. It was Wednesday, Clem your bathrooms. Service was attentive and friendly. Definitely got a nice gentleman. Met a date here for tacos and drinks, we got a seat at the bar because it was packed (football playoffs). The chips and salsa were very good! I like the light crispiness of the chips. I ordered the crispy tacos and they were decent, as were the rice and beans that come with the tacos, and the portion size is good. The drinks I had were kind of weak... The Basics: Chuy's is a Tex-Mex chain restaurant and this location is near both Wiregrass Mall and the Outlet Mall in the Wesley Chapel/ New Tampa area. There is both indoor seating and an outdoor patio. The style of this restaurant is eclectic and the menu is vast. Things I like: The food here is fresh and of great quality compared to other Mexican restaurants I have tried in the area. You are provided with free chips and salsa, which is always a plus, and the salsa was spicy and particularly flavorful. I also tried the queso and guacamole and both were great. The queso is an orange cheese and there is an amazing spice to it. For my main meal I got the chicken fajitas and and I have also had the chicken tacos in the past. The tortillas here are thick and taste so fresh. The chicken was cooked perfectly and was of great quality.  I loved all the food I tried here and, during covid times, I'm thrilled they have a patio. Things I didn't like: Nothing! Great food and service and I'm definitely coming back. Overall, I highly suggest Chuy's for a casual night out for Mexican food. We always get great food and service, but our last visit was stellar. The waitress, Ty, was so thoughtful, thorough, and pleasant that we had to share with the manager Lori what a treasure Ty was. The food at Chuy's is fantastic. The chips are fresh and crispy. In fact, everything is fresh and delicious. We have tried several items from the menu and each is as good as the last. The service is friendly and the manager, Jeremy, is wonderful. Our new favorite place!!! read more

I'm BAAACK!!! I love me some chuy's! Delish! Those chips and the jalapeno sauce...!!! What the what? I left having to have my family roll me out!!! In addition to gorging myself on chips and sauce I ordered the chuychanga. Equally tasty! My son ordered the taco salad with beef fajita meat which was flavorful. Our service was good. Super sweet server Austin. He was pretty busy, but took good care of us. I think next time I'll order a t-shirt! Did you know tacocat spelled backwards is tacocat? Chuy's taught me this and have a t-shirt to prove it! Covid measures are enforced. Nice tall plexiglass partitions in between tables. People wearing masks and social distancing. The restaurant wasn't super full and there was little wait. The cool thing about this place is that you can bring your fur babies and sit outside. Today was too cold for that though. There's also several walls near the bathrooms dedicated to the fur babies! The decor is super cool! Nostalgic with 50s ish nostalgic spanish latino themed decor. Lots of old fashioned pics on the wall of who I'm not sure, but I love the style. read more

Food was as good as expected. Service was quick, but we had to ask for napkins and plates for our appetizers, which is a no brainer ?? Server brought my husband a 2nd coke, before he drank 1/2 of the 1st one. He did not want a 2nd soda, but no one asked. They were not busy, and there were dirty tables left uncleaned near us for the entire time we were there. No manager on duty I guess. When you spend money on restaurants, you do expect, good, clean and reasonable service. read more
