Came to Chuy's for the first time tonight and was surprised by the amount of people waiting for a table. My wife and I found a seat at the bar and ordered two golden margaritas. Lauren, one of many bartenders, was quick to make our drinks and bring chips. We had dinner and was happy with the portion size and taste of the food. The bar has ambiance, with an open view of a band playing across the street and a lite breeze flowing through the bar made for a nice drinking session. The prices are a little high but you get what you pay for. read more

I used to really like Chuy's when they first opened but the quality of food and service has steadily gone down hill.

We usually love Chuy's and come here often. Tonight was a BIG exception! Our service was terrible. We were treated as if we were an inconvenience. Our regular Pancho's were horrible. The steak was so over cooked it was like dried up shoe leather. It was so bad I took it off mine and kept it vegetarian. Slim(our waitress?), never stopped by to ask us how our meal was. We had to ask 2 times for some more chips. When we were finished and ready to leave(with our dishes stacked and credit card on the table), we had to wait 10 min. For her to show up to our table to ask if we were ready for our check. On the way out, I spoke to the manager(don't know his name, he didn't introduce himself or wear a name tag). I let him know we were regulars and usually love Chuy's but that we were very disappointed with both our meal and the service. He told us "Slim" must have been having an "off" night and he hoped we enjoyed the rest of our evening.....Wow! What has customer service come to? There was NONE at Chuy's tonight. read more

My girl friends and I decided we wanted Mexican food tonight. We decided this place because it is close and the food is good. We wanted to get one margarita each and our server asks us for our Ids. We give it to her and she says she has to go to the back and verify them. Okay, not a big deal. By the way, we are all from different states so we have different state IDs. She comes back and says sorry all my managers cannot verify your IDs. I was already getting mad because I knew where this was going. I asked if we could speak to the manager. Some guy comes out with like pink hair and says sorry we can't serve you unless your server is ok with it. I said ok can we change servers? He said no sorry we just can't serve you guys anymore. My friend pulls out her social security and I pull out multiple card with my name on it. He started by saying I did not look like my ID picture. The picture was from 10 YEARS AGO OF COURSE I GREW UP INTO THE BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I AM TODAY. Anyways, we were about to just say whatever and continue eating there because we really wanted their food, but we were just too pissed. I will NEVER return to this establishment again, I have been here many times mainly for Birthdays, I had never experienced what I did today. I took my best friend here with my friends and 2 teens. Our waitress was AWFUL,she couldn't follow simple directions, the food came out wrong, they ruined her birthday lunch!!!! I was horrified!!!! Her plate came out looked like a kids size portion, with enchiladas with ZERO sauce, it looked pathetic, meanwhile, my son's plate was enormous and was supposed to be the same exact dish my best friend ordered. The sauce on my son's enchiladas was exactly what I told the waitress he wouldn't want cause he hates onions!! She swore that it was blended up, it was NOT big huge chunks of caramelized onions! I was livid, at this point I'm pissed cause she was very unprofessional, doesn't clearly know the sauces or what they contain. Finally, I asked for the manager, he clearly wasn't apologetic at all for ruining my friends b day party, he semi fixed my friends plate and my son's and didn't charge for theirs. Had the taco salad, not the best I've ever eaten but the guacamole was delish. We ate out on the patio since the music was way too loud inside. I liked the chops, very thin with a salty "wash" (like you can taste the salt without seeing it). The enchiladas looked good so I might have to come back again for those. I don't know what happened prior to our arrival but the server completely freaked out and disappeared. Apps and entrées didn't show. So we asked what was happening. Apps came out wrong. 35mins into the meal we waved down another server and sent up an SOS. As I would expect from chuy's, the other servers picked up that there was an issue and started to figure what had happened. The manager then came and made sure we were taken care of. I have to say I and my family like chuy's as noted by the number of different restaurants we have visited (Austin before it was a chain, the others in Austin, Denton, kc, Nashville, and others). Not sure what the issue was with our server but having travelled an hour out of our way in the weather and pushing off lunch till 3pm to eat at a new Chuys for us while traveling home I have to thank the staff for correcting things so that we could enjoy our meal. The meal, once the correct order came out, hit the normal levels of quality. At the rate new locations are opening not sure if we will ever keep up. read more

Tried going to this place 3 different times and the waits were just too long for a family with kids but finally got in tonight after a little over an hour wait and we were excited. We couldn't help but to think if this place is always so packed it must be good. Well it turns out we were wrong. The service was great and expedient but the food was not very good. My husband ordered fajitas and said the meat had no flavor and must have been cooked and not marinated and I order their version of a chimichanga which came out looking like a dried up brown paper lunch bag. It was not tasty and the oil that was used to fry it must have been old because it had that flavor of old oil. Everything was dried out that I ordered, the beans, the rice and the chimichanga was all dry and flavorless. Their cheese sauces tasted nasty to me and I usually love queso, chips and salsa was good but other than that I won't be back. As others have stated, it's too long of a wait (something I can't figure out with the flavor of the food), it's super loud even for families with kids and the food was below that of El Toro, La Fiesta or El Rancho. All the other Mexican restaurants in the area are less crowded, less loud and have better food! Disappointed :( read more

We just ate here and the place was pretty crowded so you would think it's going to be pretty good. However, not so much. The servers worked their rear ends off because they are way understaffed. Let's start with the positives. Decent atmosphere, and food. The music is a bit annoying. My family night out to dinner was not a pleasant experience. When we first sit down, I was very specific that we were in no hurry and I wanted to make sure we had plenty of time between our appetizers and our meal. Appetizers came out in about the time expected, but she dumped them on the table and left quickly. We waited for a few to see if she was going to bring back appetizer plates and she never did. I traveled the entire restaurant to find her so I could get them for my family but no luck. I seated myself and 5 min later when we each had time to take about 2 bites of appetizers the food came out. She then kept coming to the table as to rush us along (not to check on us, and they were not that busy). We asked for boxes and she did not bring us enough so we waited then for her to come back and at that point I lost track of her again. I had to go into the kitchen and ask the staff there. We had six boxes of food so we asked for bags when she did show up and she brought 1. I only gave this place 2 stars because the flavor of the food, service stinks. read more

I gave 5 stars because I see that the staff here works really hard. But something I also notice while here is how stressed and rushed the staff seem on like weekends (most likely because of extremely rude and annoyingly needy customers they have to put up with). As a person whose worked in the restaurant business for a few years and knows how crappy it can be working with the public, I unfortunately understand how hard it is. Gross.Gross.Confusing and overrated. Went there for the first time this week and I was not impressed. First of all they don't have any draft beer. Weird. The margaritas and other specialty drinks are priced as you would expect for a restaurant like $10 but they aren't even made with fresh squeezed juices. They give you that sour mix crap and all the drinks are too sweet and artificial tasting. The decor of the restaurant is confusing. It's a Tex mex place and they have Elvis memorabilia and weird signs that say "Elvis,King of Guac" was he? I don't think so. Then there is the food...not good at all. Got a taco salad with no meat and ordered the cilantro vinaigrette and it was literally 1000 island dressing with a little cilantro in it. Ordered a spicy cucumber martini, was too sweet and didn't taste like Cucumber not spicy at all. The service. It was so so, it took like 15 minutes to get our drinks and our waiter messed up the bills at the end. Don't waste your time and money here. There are better Mexican places to eat in town. read more

While eating dinner at this location on Monday 2/20/17 at 5pm the emergency alarm went off due to an employee going out the wrong door. This caused buzzing and flashing alarms for the next hour as no one knew how to turn it off. We have eaten at several Chuy's in KY and TN with the one in Knoxville being one of our regular places to dine. We stopped at this Chuys during the day while traveling and I must say this was hands down the best Chuy's from the chipper Liz who waited our table to the hot food that came very quickly. The salsa was even good and Im not a fan of Chuy's salsa at all. Will definitely stop and eat at this Chuy's again. BTW, the steak burrito is my favorite it is quite spicy and I always get the charro beans. My tummy is full so I will nap to TN read more

Probably the worst service ever. Server visited our table 5 times, well 3.5. Once to take our drink order, once to take our order, once to check on our meal, a quick check drop off, and then a quick change drop off. Then when we left he was busy gossiping with another employee.....no wonder he was in such a rush. The food was not very good. Lacked flavor and was very bland. I would definitely not consider this the best Mexican food in town. The restaurant is so loud you have to yell at the person sitting across from you. Although we told the waitress it was our first time there she didn't bother to mention there was a nacho bar...we found out later from some friends who had been there. Food was decent but VERY saucy! Loved the fact that the wait staff helped each other out.

Prompt service and attentive waitress. Didn't particularly like where we were seated in a midst of young families with small children, near the kitchen.(too busy and noisy). Sopapillas were made too heavy; more like bread. The dough needs to be rolled out much thinner to make these lightweight. Also, it would be nice to have chips made of flour instead of corn for the salsa, especially since Chuy's makes their own tortillas. read more

This place has grown on me...the happy hour nacho bar is fun and good - and every meal we have tried has been consistently good. Good service and your choose of atmosphere - patio, bar (sometimes with garage style door open to outside) or dining rooms. We came on a busy Saturday with my family of 8. Our server Tina not only took great care of us, but went ABOVE AND BEYOND for the 4 kids we had with us, too. My sister in law and I (who were both servers before) noticed what an effort she made, but our husbands even noticed too. TINA IS AMAZING.
