Busy place, with a lot of different pies on display. I ended up getting two cheese, and one each of broccoli w mozz, and sausage and pepperoni. On the thin side, but not overly thin. I never visit the spot, but I ordered twice. Amazing pizza especially for a Knicks watch party. I ordered the grandma and regular nyc pizza. Great cheese portion, not burn & crispy. The price is convenient beside the yelp delivery tax. The service is good as far as delivery in one piece only thing I didn't like is that the delivery guy has put the pizza boxes on the floor and sent it via elevator . Oh my goodness this little pizza joint was so good we had to go to days in a row!!! Please don't judge me I was absolutely craving their margarita pizza the next day. the crust is everything and I mean everything. They have the infamous red checkered tablecloth's . My husband and I have to get pizza at least once whenever we go to NYC. We were staying at a friend's in Chelsea and kept passing by Ciao Bella's, which was the nearest pizza spot to the apartment. We stopped by around 5pm on a Saturday. The place was nearly empty besides one customer who was placing an order for a large box for take-out. Not that it was telling of whether the pizza was good or bad, but we were almost considering on going to another place because it wasn't busy. Don't judge a book by it's cover though, because our slice of cheese pizza was very satisfying. The quality was good for it's cheap price. The tomato sauce was bright and sweet, and it wasn't oily. The crust was nicely crispy on the bottom so it had structure to it. Personally I preferred the this type of crust because traditional NYC pizzas can be messy and floppy. -1 star because I did see a fly buzzing around the pizzas after we had just purchased the slice and were on our way out. read more

I was born and raised in NY and there are certain standards that I hold dear. A good bagel, a knish, foldable pizza with broccoli and veal piccata that will make your mouth pucker. I've lived in California now for almost 20 years and veal is as dirty a word here as pate. Veal piccata was not on the menu, but both veal marsala and chicken picatta were. My request for veal piccata was immediately answered yes. I put in my order and started with a slice of their vegetarian pizza because of all the broccoli. I love NYC pizzerias. They know how it's done. Shakers of parm and crushed red pepper are fine, but you need that shaker of garlic to make it the read deal. Cial Bella did not disappoint. I ate half my pizza while waiting for the piccatta. It was delicious, foldable, loaded with veggies and that crunchy-crisp broccoli that only explodes in your mouth when heated in a pizza oven. I saved my other half of the pizza for my flight and it was AMAZING. For those that don't know, veal is the meat from young male cows. It's almost white, like chicken. It has a very distinct taste and is tender and delicious. It's often served in very thin fillets that are breaded and fried with different sauces. Ciao Bella served up a butter, lemon and caper-rich Veal Picatta that has my mouth watering just thinking about it. It was truly the most perfect dish for my last meal in NYC. Sadly, the food was far below what we had eaten in prior weeks at the similarly or lesser priced Sapore di Italia, Brick Oven and Fiamma. I used to be a fan, but this is the second time in a row I have been overcharged at this place! Each time it is only $1-2, but still. Today: Calzone on the menu costs $5.05. I got a filing. According to the menu, my filing should have been 75 cents. I just confirmed this by trying to order it online -- $5.80. I was charged $7.20 (see attached receipt). Even if you argue that for some reason it should have been $6.45, the extra 75 cents is totally bogus. Next time I'll walk farther to not support this place. read more

FAIR WARNING BELOW I credit the menu writer, who provided tasty bait for the unfamiliar. The "live menu" was brilliant bait and switch - roughly 1/2 of the selections shown online was on the paper menu. We didn't go for the decorating (didn't get it). I hoped it was a nice hole-in-the-well with good food. The hole-in-the part ws correct. Overall impression - a pizza joint with an alleged kitchen. Generous portions for less money, and uninspired seasoning. Beer - bottled only. Peroni, Henie, Moretti (out of stock), others. Wine - four "varietals" by the glass (no comment on the pizza - not ordered) Pasta Fagioli Soup (Pasta and Beans) - this was seasoned in a basic fashion. The beans seemed to be pureed into the broth - not a whole bean to be found. Green Salad - the highlight - a generous portion with lots of color and a thin slice of onion - served with oil, balsamic, salt and pepper "Chardonnay" - served by the glass - one of four wines - mediocre, suitable for those who don't drink much wine. Chicken Francese - a big breast not pounded thin - thickly breaded, bland. Baked Salmon - as a Alaskan, I was curious about "Atlantic Salmon". I ordered against better judgement. Estimate a 6-oz portion with skin on (OK by me, though a sear and peel is not difficult). "Capers lemon sauce" - although capers and lemon were evident - the "sauce" was oil - not really saucy.
