My favorite restaurant in Missoula! Great food, great service, great atmosphere! I had the bruschetta to start with a nice glass of Pinot Grigio. I don't remember the exact wine but my server was very helpful with a recommendation. For my entree I had the Steak Marsala. It was cooked a perfect medium and melted in my mouth! Although they have plenty of tempting dessert options I was stuffed and didn't try one on this trip. I'll be back for sure! read more

We had the Sun Dried Tomato Penne and the Lasagna. Neither one was good. The Penne was supposed to have grilled chicken but it was hard to find. It had way too much sun dried tomato giving it a very sharp taste. I did not enjoy it. My wife's Lasagna was Ok but had very little meat or cheese. It had meat and cheese on top but not between the layers. It was all noodle. The waitress was trying hard to be nice but was not particularly attentive. I don't recommend this place. read more

What a great location! We came early before the dinner rush and we're we glad we did. This place gets packed! The food is a great selection of Italian food and there's some more traditional menu options as opposed to the standardized American versions of Italian food featured at chain restaurants. Definitely worth the wait for the food. Great stuff. read more

Awesome place! The food was excellent, the service was perfect. You can basically order anything you want or change up anything on the menu. Nice wine list, too. The mozzarella balls are amazing! Kate was a delight and even took thetime to talk to us about the town and made us feel very welcome on our visit. If we're ever in Missoula again I know where we'll be having dinner! read more

Our party had spaghetti and meatballs and clam linquini. Everything was delicious. The best part was where we sat. We were by the glass wall looking into the kitchen as dishes were cooked. Wow that was fun. They have a 10 or 12 burner gas stove and watching these dishes prepared was amazing to watch. Good food, good conversation and entertainment all at the same time. read more

Happened to stumble upon this restaurant by accident after the one where we were planning to dine was too crowded. Glad we did! Food and service were excellent! My husband and I both ordered salads which were beautifully plated. Our only complaint was too little dressing. Wonderful cheesey bread initially served as we sat down. Both of our dishes had just the right amount of garlic and spices. Pasta cooked el dente. This restaurant was a real pleasure. Will definitely return if we are in Missoula again! read more

Another great evening at Ciao Mambo!!! We ate late so salad and Italian Nachos that were delicious. Be sure to have Ame as your waitperson. She is phenomenal and has great suggestions. This place is amazing!!! My boyfriend is Italian, it is his third year here in the United States and he said it is extremely similar to true Italian food!! He loves it! This has been my favorite place to eat in Missoula for years but recently I've had several bad meals and service here.

Good friendly service and great food. I had a pasta dish and my husband had ravioli. They were both excellent. I was nervous about the prices (between$15 and $20 a plate) but the food was well worth it. Will go back again! read more

The best Italian I have ever had. Tremendous variety, great service, and pheominal dishes. The Minestrone soup was excellent, and their house recommended dishes are also full of fresh flavors in sound proportions. $79 for 4 adults. The atmoshete is very classy, but doesn't demand a jacket or slacks. read more

I'm not from Missoula, but since the past few years, I spend 50% of my time here. Ciao Mambo is my choice whenever I feel like having some fulfilling Italian food. My 2 favs are Frutti Di Mare and Linguini Arrabiatta. Haven't tried anything else since every time I go, I can't not order one of these. read more

Went there a few days ago on a Tuesday evening. Place was pretty busy, with a handful of customers waiting in entry (no host/ess at stand). Husband and I decided to sit at bar area where the pizza oven is and one chef works. One of the servers seemed flustered or annoyed we sat ourselves, but she said it was fine, and we quasi-apologized (every other time we've sat at the same spot). Took a good 7 minutes to get menus, but they had quite a few tables, and two of them were over 12 people. Ordered Caesar salads (with anchovies, why don't people do anchovies?), husband had a linguine with red clam sauce, we shared a calimari (generous appetizer portion), and a side of broccolini. Everything was great- their food is always consistent. And the service was great- they just needed another person or two on the floor. And I think they only had 2 cooks-they have an open kitchen, and those dudes never lost composure. Wish they had one or two more protein-y items (like to save my carbs for their umami-esque bread), but will continue to enjoy eating there. Want again to mention service was excellent, they were just spread a little thin- hope everyone tipped handsomely. They also have a decent wine list- had a Malbec for like $34.. read more

The Italian Nachos are AMAZING! I visit Missoula four times a year and Ciao is a must stop every time. The garlic bread is to die for. The staff and general ambience is very welcoming. They have fun drawings on the ceiling that restaurant goers have drawn. Another fun facet is that the wait staff sign their name upside down on your table. Very cool table trick that will have you trying it yourself. I have not tried many items from the menu but I have yet to hear anything bad about the establishment. read more

I absolutely love everything about Ciao Mambo. To start, the waitresses are the nicest people. They are always friendly and personable. Next, the food is always good quality and delicious. You are able to switch what you want to make any dish perfect for you. If they offered Gluten free pasta that could be nice. It is also reasonably priced for the quality of food and service! Always loud. I have been here several times and it is always so loud that you can't hear the conversation at the table. Bad acoustics and too loud background music plus the continuous din from the kitchen make this a struggle to relax. I don't have any dietary restrictions, but everything is SALTED too much. I doubt that there is a low salt item on the menu, not that I am looking for one, but this is over the top in the amount of salt. I was gulping water for hours after the meal. Hope that you have the time. Service is SLOW, even though it was a Tuesday and the place was only about one-third full. Waitress service was exceptional, they were polite and friendly, but it took about 30 minutes to get the food. Italian is usually much faster than this, especially since we ordered basic spaghetti items. The food was hot when it arrived and tasted fine, price was fine and he decor was OK. Next time I'll try somewhere else. read more

Wonderful atmosphere. Wonderful staff. Wonderful food. I live in the Seattle area where we have many very fine Italian restaurants. Ciao Mambo rates right up there with the best of them. My wife and I took my parents out for dinner, and this place was highly recommended. I love that this is a local establishment. At least I think it is. Congrats to the staff and management. Hubby is Italian , from Italy & NYC, this is American-pseudo Italian food. Probably OK for most but the worst eggplant parm I have ever had in my life and that is my favorite dish. We tried going back one more time thinking it was just an off night, it wasn't. We won't be back. read more
