Took 4 friends to Caio for their first time. We had been there before. Tim, our server was great. Tim has been there for 17 years. Made it a pleasant evening. My wife and I had the Salmon fish special with a lemon butter sauce. Friends had an array of everything from fettuccini Alfredo to Egg plant Rollatini. Food was excellent. Came here last night without a reservation and couldn't get a table so make sure you make a reservation because you don't want to miss the opportunity to dine here. Thankfully we made a reservation for tonight and everything was out of this world amazing! And the staff, from the hostess (sorry didn't get her name), the owner and Cameron, were all so nice. Great atmosphere too but the food, WOW! We had the Pepper Appetizer, Eggplant Parmigiana and the Penne Vodka with shrimp and as full as we were so glad we got the Tartufo for dessert with Chocolate Whipped Martinis. We will be in the Myrtle Beach area next Summer and this will be a favorite stop for us. read more

I decided on this place through Yelp because I was coming in from out of town and wasn't really sure on where to eat. Going through the reviews I decided on Ciao. I even set up a reservation. we got there at 4pm, and were seated. I ordered the Lemone Chicken and my husband ordered the Spaghetti Carbonara. We got the dipping sauce with the bread too. The flavored olive oil tasted like perfume. It was so bitter and way too strong. When I got my Lemone Chicken it had no flavor except for the occasional hint of uncooked wine, I wasn't able to finish it because it was it was soggy breaded chicken. My husband's carbonara sauce was broken and gritty also with no flavor. My husband said the best thing he had was the tap water that was served. Maybe we had a new chef? I will never know because I would never go back here again. read more

We came back to this little Italian place. We had the calamari as the appetizer and it was at hit with everyone. The French bread appetizer was very tasty and came with an oil and basil/seasoning dipping sauce. I was a bit disappointed with the meals this time. There were 5 of us. I got the manicotti and my daughter got the spaghetti and meatballs. The red sauce was just a bit boring and didn't have enough seasoning. The meatball were okay. Another in our party got the Shrimp and Scallops in the far diavolo sauce which was a bit spicy. That sauce was better than the marinara, but she left most of her pasta so not sure she cared for it. My husband got the chicken calabrese. That meal tasted good, but we all agreed it tasted like an Asian dish. No idea what they put in it to make it Asian flavored, but it did not taste Italian. The best meal we got was the shrimp and sausage Palermo. All agreed that it was an excellent dish. The seafood was good, the sauce was very lemon and garlic flavored. It all came together very well. After the first meal. We were ready to go back to this restaurant, but I think I would be more hesitant to came back a third time. One out of 4 entrees just didn't draw me back. read more

When I first walked in I knew this place was going to be good. The atmosphere was very nice along with the staff. The tomato soup was amazing, BUT the drinks!!! Wife and I are in Myrtle beach and felt like Italian for dinner so I did what I usually do and check Yelp for restaurant reviews and Ciao was the one we chose. The parking lot was full when we went in there were only a few table empty. The hostess asked if we had reservations of course we didn't because we usually go out on a whim. We were seated at a two top table the last one open, our serve don't remember his name but was absolutely excellent very friendly and always checked up on us. We both wanted the chicken parmigiana but knew it was too much food to eat so we decided on calamari for an appetizer which was very good and tender but need to be cooked just 1 more minute the sauce that was served with it was excellent had just the rite amount of spice to it. We split the chicken parmigiana they charge a split plate charge but you do get an extra side salad so if you don't want to side salad just don't say your going to split a meal. The chicken as awesome very tender lots of flavor and the spaghetti was just as good. We will be returning all of the food we saw at other tables really looked good. read more

Despite making a reservation days in advance, we had to wait 15 minutes before being seated for only two people. The hostess was friendly and helpful, and our waiter was absolutely awesome. He was our favorite part of visiting this restaurant. I had high expectations on the food because I discovered this restaurant on so many websites, however, the noodles were bland as ever and the meat was too salty. The young man at the bar, Nick, took great care of us. The playlist that evening made us feel like we were in an Italian restaurant in NYC and Sinatra was gonna come through the door at any moment! In my limited experience in the Myrtle Beach area, I've found two Italian restaurants that in my opinion could rival any in the northeast. Besides Malibu I include Ciao. We shared some appys. Calamari and shrimp 'n grits. Both excellent! The grouper was super fresh, sweet, and delicious. Everyone else in our party raved about their entrée. Food came out steaming too. One word... Fabulous! On a girls trip and we chose this place from a list of a few high rated Italian restaurants. I'm so glad we did! In the week we stayed, we went twice and also requested the same server. April was amazing, professional, timely, fun and had great knowledge of the menu. Some of the items we enjoyed were Caprese salad, Calamari, Ceasar salad, Tomato Basil soup, Chicken Marsala with penne pasta, Chicken Alfredo, Lobster Ravioli, Salmon Filet Pasta special and the Chefs pasta. It's on a board and not really a salad. It was good. The eggplant parmigiana was bountiful. The marinara sauce is super sweet. Unless you like it this was don't order it. We love this unassuming gem in North Myrtle. We've been twice, 2 years apart, and both times our service and our food has been exceptional. This year, my wife had the Veal saltimboca and I had the veal calibrese, both excellent. The veal calibrese may be the best Italian dish I've ever had.
