Looking for something to do in Austin and decided on Cidercade Austin. They charge a set price to play unlimited games and what a great deal. The games are retro games. They are family friendly up until 8pm. After 8pm it 21 and up. We went with 2 kids and they had a blast. Not having to reload a card for more credits is so nice. We also tried the pizza and wings and they didn't last long. We got a cheese pizza, a pepperoni pizza and some buffalo wings. The pizza was thin crust but they put a lot of pepperoni on the pizza. The wings were smoked and had a lot of flavor. Also tried the pineapple cider and it was really good. The food and drink prices were reasonable. I went to Cidercade for the first time this weekend and thought it was pretty amazing! It gives an adult Chuck E. Cheese vibe, with all the arcade games, pizza/wings, and a bunch of cider (variety of flavors). The parking was pretty easy, there is free parking, I got there around 7 on a Friday, but by the time I left it looked pretty full, so you may want to get there early. You essentially pay an entrance fee of about $12 and literally all of the arcade games are available to you. The food system is set up so that you order on your own and they have many toppings available for your pizza as well as wings. The cooks were pretty quick and you get a text when your food is ready, so super nice! I really enjoyed my pepperoni pizza and my boyfriend really like his mushroom/olives pizza, thin crust and nice hint of herbal seasoning. They offer an all you can drink for $4, with their own sodas influenced from the usual ones were used to, like Dr.P, Big Red, etc. They have a bar with lots of cider available and even offer samples if you want to try them before you buy them. $12 for unlimited arcade games? Count me in. This place is massive, has a food/drink area with indoor and outdoor seating, but has a relatively smaller parking lot. We went on a Wednesday afternoon and had to wait a few minutes for another group to leave in their car. Overall we had a great time! There was a decent mix of old and newer games that had better response times for the button controls. Some games we enjoyed were Killer Bee (large team of at least 6 required), 1943, and a Terminator shooting game right at the entrance. There was also an old volleyball game we couldn't figure out the button functions to which was a hilarious mess. And of course there was good old air hockey and hoops. We spent a total of about 2 hours. Great for families, young adults, couples, and I even noticed a few solo visitors. read more

Memories just come rushing as you walk through all the video games! There were so many to choose from and the best part it is unlimited for just $10. They have food, but did not get to taste. Of course they have ciders hence the name. We tried a few of them and they were good just a bit on the pricey side. I definitely enjoyed my date night here and want to go back. Tip: I went on their website and thought it would be best to reserve a spot and paid for it which I thought was part of the entrance fee. I was wrong that was to "reserve" a table. So I ended up paying double. The "reserved" table/area was unclear where it was as everyone was sitting everywhere with no signage for reservations. 2.5-3 /5 Having been recommended Cidercade continuously over the four and a half years I've lived here, I finally decided to go with my partner yesterday. I will add, in hindsight, we were both completely unaware that children were off of school today, and that there would be 900 people inside. That being said, I was thoroughly disappointed. The door person was extremely kind, and for $13 all you can play video games, it seemed like a steal! Outside of there being 900 people inside, with an overwhelming amount of noise and lights, it was an overall underwhelming time. My partner and I don't drink, so we forewent the Cider part of Cidercade. Unfortunately, a lot of the games were broken and out of order. Parents were letting their children intentionally destroy playing abilities for some games (getting all of the basketballs stuck in the net on purpose, stealing the balls for skee ball, etc.) basically, we played PacMan, basketball, and guitar hero and left to go to Dave and Busters. It is genuinely a wonderful idea and a town staple, but I wish quality was kept so that everyone could enjoy it. We will try again after 8 p.m. when no kids are allowed! read more

You will spend hours gaming here! I came here with my friend for the first time and I've heard really great things. They do have ciders (of course!) so if you plan to drink, you should bring your ID. My friend forgot it, but if you don't need to drink, you can still enter with a different colored wristband. We both got the day pass, which was $10, and you can play all the games there! There are a lot of multiplayer games. We enjoyed the Mario and Luigi game the most and we got first place on the scoreboard! You can both play at the same time and it requires teamwork. There are games for everybody-dancing, fighting games, Pac-Man, air hockey, etc. There is free parking, but you may want to come earlier in the day. We came at 2pm and when we left at 8pm, there was a huge line outside and people were trying to find parking on the grass. The decorations are awesome! Lots of skeletons, cobwebs, and spooky things. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The views are great too-you can see the lake! I got the pineapple cider-it was recommended and it was pretty good! Reminds me of kombucha. I highly recommend the unlimited soda for $4! They have good drinks-I kept going back for the horchata. They also have food-we built our own 10-in pizza. My friend is vegan and there is vegan cheese for $2! Total price with two extra toppings is $14. The only con would probably be the noise especially around the basketball hoops, but it is not too noisy with the games away from the basketball. Food - would not know, after ordering my pizza, they ran out of pagers and was asked to check at the kitchen in 15 minutes. Then the kitchen threw out orders and had to remake orders and I was then given a pager. An hour later I never got a pizza. Service - I get that they are busy and short of staff, but I would loose any sleep if this place slide into Town Lake. Really great staff, environment, and drinks. Came in to beat the 3 digit heat and was greeted by a friendly employee who rang us up and gave us some colored paper wristbands and explained the concept. Basically, one price will get you in and allow for unlimited game play on arcade games. The games were varied, some really retro ones with bad pixels that made me cringe to newer ones. I did find that some people stayed at their arcade for a long time so if there is a game you really want to play then try being close by to grab the game as soon as it's free. The staff manning the bar was really nice, and took the time to explain each drink. I decided on the blackberry cream pie and it was so very good! It is refreshing but on the sweeter side, but not too much to be undrinkable. They are very generous with each pour- my cup was literally filled to the top. Nice things I noticed: - there are kiddie stools for the younger crowds so they can stand at the arcades without assistance - the place and bathroom were clean - the porch is a great place to relax, hang out and enjoy your pizza or wings. There is a nearby pedestrian bridge, tables with swing seats and an amazing view. There are even ceiling fans everywhere which helped tremendously on a hot day. It is jam packed with pin ball machines, video games, many from the 90's and 00's including Guitar Hero, Area 51, Big Buck, NBA Jams, etc as well as a few more rigorous games likes skeeball, pop shot basketball and air hockey. I would say everything is in okay quality, not good, not bad. There is a door person upon entrance collecting a $12.99 fee for unlimited play and braceleting those 21+. Kiddos are welcome but get booted at 8 pm. The food selection includes thin crust pizza, pizza rolls (looked like stromboli), two salad options, and smoked wings. I opted to split the greek salad and a pizza with a friend, it was the perfect amount of food. The salad was good and pizza was decent. There is soda for $4 all you can drink with a ton of flavors like blueberry and pink drink. For alcohol, there are 24 ciders on tap, no other options. WHAT A BLAST! * * * Cidercade Austin is an all-cider bar, grill, and video game arcade. You pay your entrance fee and you can play any machine you want for free. Food and drink - meaning cider - are extra. I absolutely love this place. * * * Let me get the bad stuff out of the way before I go absolutely goo-goo eyes about Cidercade. a) Parking is nearly impossible. That may improve when they finish some building repairs that involve digging up some underground stuff. b) Most of the cider is not good. Cider is only as good as the apples you make cider with. Flavorings can help ... but there is a limit to how much they can cover for bad raw ingredients. I am a New Englander by birth. Cider is a seasonal product. It is made with orchard apples. It is only made when the orchard apples are fresh, which means in the Autumn. Out of season cider means using supermarket apples rather than orchard apples. Supermarket apples are baseballs that taste like nothing. They don't give you much in the way of interesting juice. Texas supermarket apples are worst than New England supermarket apples. Apples are not local, so they have to buy the fruit that is bred for long distance transport. This means the apples have to be hard and durable. That tends to kill the taste. I had three ciders, two of which were mediocre. One was actually pretty good. That was an acai cider. Acai is strong stuff. It almost doesn't matter what you have as a base if you are putting acai on something. Cider cuts the cloyingness of acai - even when it is no-great-shakes commercial cider. So the acai-cider combo made for a first rate drink. I know what I am ordering next time. * * * Enough whining. Now for the good stuff. 1) They have a spectacular location right on the Hike and Bike Trail on the South Side of Town Lake right across from Rainey Street. They have a large magnificent porch with plenty of seating that allows you to take in the view. This may be the best place in town to see the Austin skyline if you want to eat and drink while doing so. You are also right at the level of the Hike and Bike trail itself, so watching the comings and goings on the trail is entertainment in its own right. Sunset at Cidercade is way way way better than Sunset at the Oasis. 2) The menu consists of pizza, chicken wings and salads. I will vouch for the fact that these are some of the best chicken wings in Austin - bar none. The wings themselves are huge. The sauces are all homemade. The takes on the sauces are not standard. Their buffalo sauce is wonderful and does not taste like the buffalo sauce you get in a bottle. The wings are smoked as well - which adds all sorts of natural complexity to the taste. I could eat Cidercade's wings every day in a row for the next three weeks and not get tired of them. 3) The place is huge with lots of nooks and crannies. There are all different types of seating including many options with views of the cityscape. 4) Playing lots and lots of well maintained pinball machines and classic video machines is fun. Lots of fun. Yeah - unless you are a pro - you will have to spend some time in learning the moves and the shots for whatever game it is you are playing. But - hey - the machines are free. So if you need to warm up for forty minutes until you get your edge - and then you go to town - Well that just means you have had a learning experience. Stick to this, and you should be getting 25 x bonuses and multiballs and activating every top level and light bank and kicker ramp on the machine. This place would be great for a family on a weekday morning! The selection of games is large, they have something for everyone. Unfortunately, we have kids that like the "hands on" games so, skee ball, and air hockey and the line for those were crazy! They did not have enough tables for all the families to eat, as it was only my girls were able to sit and eat, but if you aren't planning on eating it's a moot point. We ordered: Pepperoni rolls- you only get one so if you are hungry get 2 orders, they aren't anything special so I will skip these next time. The cheese wasn't melted and it was barley warm... Cheese pizza- we liked the thickness of the crust but really, you don't come here for the food Mediterranean pizza- I did enjoy this pizza as the toppings weren't falling. Love this place! I've been multiple times for different occasions and each time has been great. Obviously they have incredible ciders with so many great options. Their pizza is incredible and their Rice Krispies get a special shout out. They are huge and soooo good. There are so many classic games and you can easily spend hours there. It's great for all ages. There is an outdoor space with swinging chairs right on the water that is also great if you want to take a break from the noise inside. It is such a fun space that I highly recommend. My first time having food, so I thought I would add a review now. Firstly, not even close to the best wings in Austin! :( I loved the flavor of the Pineapple Habanero (?), but our buffalo wings were lacking. We got another flavor I don't remember, but overall, the chicken itself felt dry and some parts were burnt. Not super well executed. :( I love coming here for the games though! And I was bummed there wasn't DigDug, but one of the employees was so kind to offer some lesser known Atari games that we could play instead. This place was my dream bar come true. I a man of simple tastes and ciders and video games are my go to. I'm from Minneapolis, where we have a similar bar/arcade called UpDown so getting to come stop by Cidercade was a very anticipating event of our trip to Austin. The price is right as they say. A small base price just to get in the door, then having 24 different ciders on tap. I couldn't ask for much more. We didn't try the food but definitely tried about half of the ciders. The view from their outdoor area is very stunning with the water and city in the background makes for a relaxing space. As for the games! Holy cow did I get smacked with my childhood all at once. The games are free so once you're in, you're in. I swear I tried to play practically every game I saw. From new to old there's something for everyone. For the price, it's really one of the cheapest ways to go out in Austin. $10 cover for unlimited games and their cider is awesome. If the price point es higher I'd give it 3 stars, but you get what you pay for so some of the games are often times broken or just not functioning well, but probably only about 10% of them. Also, crowds and parking can be insane given how cheap it is. Overall, cheap night out best bang for your buck! The food isn't very good here so I would avoid it. Our friends took us to Cidercade on our last night visiting Austin and we had a lot of fun. You pay $10 for a day pass and all the arcade games are free to play. You can also get a membership for $15 if you're a local that would visit often. They have everything you could think of, including skee ball, that basketball toss game, tons of arcade games and pinball machines, Guitar Hero, etc. They also have a bar and a pizza counter. They only sell beverages that they make, but I enjoyed the ciders we tried. I ended up getting a pizza later on in the evening and it was really tasty. You order on an ipad and they'll text you when your food is ready, which was convenient. I just got a pepperoni pizza but it was super cheesy and quite delicious, and enough to share for a snack. The menu also includes wings and some salad options. It was pretty crowded when we were there, but we never really had to wait long for any games. The deck outside is nice and has a great view of the city! There was a cute little raccoon that kept climbing up to try to get people's food. The parking lot seems large but it was completely full when we arrived, so we had to park about half a mile away in a nearby neighborhood. All the employees I encountered were super friendly. This place is fantastic!! Hours of fun for only $12/person. They have a ton of games from pinball machines, old school arcade games (Tetris!), race car games, to air hockey, Guitar Hero, and skee ball. Absolutely something for everyone! And the food and drinks are legit! We tried both the pickle and pepperoni pizzas and they were delicious. Their menu of ciders is extensive and each one we tried seemed better than the previous one. There is a soda fountain with several options if you're looking for something non alcoholic. The view of downtown from the patio is wonderful. This was one of my favorite non food places that I visited during my recent trip to Austin. If you have a couple of hours to kill and looking for something to do - I highly recommend Cidercade. For $10 you can spend as much (or as little) time playing all the arcade video games you remember from your childhood. From your classic Pac Man (or Ms. Pac Man) and Mortal Combat to some of the lesser know videogames (Digger and 1984) times stands still. All of the games are free with the price of admission and it was a lot of fun to walk among the rows of video games deciding which one to play next. Food and drink cannot be brought from outside but their have their own cider on tap (I think there was about 10 different flavors) and pizza (from what I could tell). There are several locations throughout Texas and I hope that they someday make their way to New England so I can once again relive my childhood. read more

My friend and I were visiting town and we were looking for something fun to do and came across an ad for Cidercade Austin. We both really love cider so we figured we would give it a try. The cider selection was pretty great and I love the option to get a flight to try 5 different ciders. I think my favorite one I tried was the Butter Beer one. We also ended up getting the pepperoni and sausage pizza roll and it was so good that we wanted to get one more. Unfortunately, the payment iPad things were turned around, so I went to ask Eddie, who was working the counter, if they were still serving. He said the kitchen was closed, but he would still make me one regardless which I sincerely appreciated, especially since I didn't live in the area. He made us the chicken one, which was so good with the basil vinaigrette. Eddie deserves a raise/promotion for that kindness! The games were super fun, and the arcade wasn't too crowded, even for a holiday weekend. I especially enjoyed the variety of games that they had at the bar, from pinball games to shooters to Japanese rhythm games, etc. If I'm ever in town again, I will definitely come back and enjoy some ciders. read more

Fun place to come hang out and eat some great pizza! We visited on a Sunday around lunchtime. It was busy! Parking was easy, the door bouncer ;) was friendly and gave us our purchased entrance wristbands. It took us a little bit to find a table and chairs, then to order and get our food. The pizzas are fresh made and wood fired. Yum! The kids enjoyed the pepperoni, but not so much the cheese (adults liked it, but a little too "fancy" for the littles with extra spices sprinkled on top). The kale salad was good. The smoked chicken wings were (IMHO) a bit too smoked. The smoke itself was a nice taste, but it goes all the way to the bone, and the sauces we ordered didn't mask or balance out the smokiness at all. We will love to go back. Hopefully find a time that's not so busy so that it'd be easier to get onto some more of the games. (We stood in line for quite a while for a race car game while a parent with three young kids monopolized all the seats, continuously playing round after round, even though a queue had formed around them.) Came here for the first time with my kids. This place is pretty awesome if you're into retro throwback arcade games. It costs $12 per person to enter and have unlimited play for all their games or $20 to gain entrance all month plus perks. I would get the $20 membership, but this place is about a 1.5 hours from home. You pay for your entrance fee right outside the door and they'll put a wristband on you. This band will allow you to come in and out of the establishment. They have a lot classic arcade games ranging from Tron, ninja turtles, pinball machines, Donkey Kong vs Mario, Mortal Kombat, and many more. They have a bar right in the middle that sells alcohol. They have a digital menu where you can order at the register and a kitchen that pages you when it's ready. We ordered the Pepperoni and Honey pizza, Pear+Prosciutto pizza, chicken parm pizza rolls, homemade rice krispy treats (humungous), and 3 chocolate chip cookies. All the pizzas are really oily, but super delicious and I love how they have garlic parmesan and red pepper packets available. Unlimited self-serve fountain drinks available. Overall, don't expect this place to have the top of the line quality gaming, this is purely a nostalgic experience. My kids and I had a blast and we'll definitely be back if we're in the Austin area. All the staff are friendly. There are a lot of tables and chairs to dine at to include outdoor seating which has a beautiful view of the Colorado River and Downtown Austin. Limited parking here, but since it was the weekend I could park in the neighboring parking lot. $12 for all you can play video games for a day is great, and they have a great selection of older games for those of us 40 something's. I went on a Sunday afternoon, and the noise level walking in was overwhelming. The place was packed with families, and the games are jammed into the space. As the afternoon wore on, say around 5:30, most of the families had left and the noise level was much better. The cider selection is amazing, and the bartenders will give you a sample taste before you commit to a full pour. They offer flights as well if you want to taste several. The food menu is pizza, wings, salads, and pizza rolls, and the quality is good. I saw a pepperoni pizza roll order, and it looked amazing. The person eating it said they were delicious. I ordered the pear and prosciutto pizza on a gluten-free crust, and it was delicious. The cider balsamic reduction really kicked it up a notch. I also thought it was fun that the food was served on paper lined cardboard squares. The pizza and cider were good enough to warrant a revisit on a less busy day. Parking can be atrocious here. If the parking lot is full, be prepared to just go somewhere else or go down for a walk from a distanced legal park. Don't get booted. The location of Cidercade Austin is pretty nice otherwise - good views down the river provide a nice chill time. The popular stuff like skeeball and basketball are going to almost always have people on them so keep that in mind. I came mainly for some pinball action and came during a tournament so that greatly limited my gameplay. Nonetheless, I managed to squeeze in games along with other random arcade games. It's a nice feeling playing games that are on "free"-play so you're able to just walk up to whatever and play right away. That said, you can't really make a quick stop to an arcade like this without feeling the need to extend your stay. I also got a pizza which was surprisingly tasty. Not only are there food, drinks, and unlimited games, but there's also a sweet spot where you can dine and take in the city lights at night, all for just $10 per person. My only complaint would be the amount of games vs. the amount of guests they allow -- on crowded nights, you wouldn't even get a chance to play Air Hockey or some other popular game. However, if you're into playing Pinball, then you're in luck. There are a lot of pinball machines, from Godzilla to Star Wars to the classics. Cidercade Austin is definitely a place I'd come visit again. read more

This place has been on my list of places to visit for a while so my family and I finally stopped in on a Saturday afternoon. The guys at the door were nice and it was quick to pay and get in. It was $12 per person which is pretty good for unlimited play. We wandered around looking at the games and I noticed quite a few were broken. Also, because it was so packed in there we had to wait in lines to play certain games. We never did get to play a few because the wait was way too long. The place itself was LOUD and a little dingy. In one area the floor has a bump and I saw many people trip over it. We did not order food but I saw people ordering the pizza and I can't lie it looked really good. Overall this place was okay. THE BIG: Big retro arcade game spot that's located right off of Lady Bird Lake, gorgeous views of downtown Austin. Parking is available on premise but can be difficult when it is peak time. THE BLACK AND WHITE: I always come here with friends from out of town that's looking for a good time playing games. Unlimited games that is! They have your main hitters like basketball, skeeball, pinballs, all the balls. There are even spots for racing, air hockey table, and DDR. If you want something to imbibe on, they have ciders that you can purchase or try them all with the flight. I'm personally not a cider fan but I like that the option is there. For those who get hungry, they have a restaurant with pizza. Outside is a beautiful deck that overlooks the boardwalk and rainey street's skyline. THE FINAL BAMBOO: Overall ~$10 a person for unlimited gameplay. Not a bad deal and definitely recommend coming at least once. I just wish the games were kept in better condition or fixed. read more

Fun place! Went here for the first time to celebrate my husbands 33rd birthday. Entering is nice and easy, they have a bouncer at the door you pay. At first the place looks small but then you walk around and there's so many different corners and rooms that hide more games! I also like that it becomes adult only after 8:30pm. The cider is very delicious, as is the pizza, just a bit overpriced so the size you're getting. The outdoor seating patio area was super cute and had swing seats. I love a place that lets me feel like a kid again. All in all, great place and will return :) read more
