We were really hoping this restaurant would be good, but we were very disappointed. We placed an order for 2 fajitas, one with shrimp and one with chicken. Both orders were tasteless and the peppers and onions were not cooked well, they were still hard. We ended up cooking them more at home and adding some seasoning to save the food. This meal was very expensive if the food has noF taste and you have to fix it yourself. I don't mind paying for good food, but this unfortunately was not even close. read more

We arrived and the place was packed. They have been open less than 2 weeks but word got out. They have probably around 30 tables and it was full. We waited in the little entryway by the door. The hostess Natalie was really energetic and helpful with all our questions while we waited and told us what the items had in them for ingredients and which ones she has tried. We were seated and we tried a little bit of everything from vegetarian , steak , chicken, and pork dinners. All were made to order and tasted that way. Fresh. Thumbs up all the way around the table. Horchata! actual, real, delicious, wonderful horchata! It is a staple of an authentic Mexican restaurant, and I was so happy to have some today. And the horchata at Cielito Lindo is delicious. For my meal, I ordered the drowned beef torta. basically a braised beef sandwich smothered in a rich red sauce. Very good. But the 2nd star of today's meal was the taco al pastor. I have eaten a lot of tacos al pastor in my days. One of my coronary arteries has a stretch named "Al Pastor Highway." This taco was right there at the top. Like equal to the best ever. Flavorful pork, with pineapple (some places leave out the pineapple which scratches at my soul), in the freshest taco you have tasted. I thought, "Wow, this tastes like it was just made." warm, fluffy. well, it was. They make the tacos to order, like the Mexican abuela I never had used to do. We've been here more than 20 times, super comfort food...I grew up in California, where the mom's in the neighborhood would make authentic tamales wrapped in corn husks at all the community events. My husband found a huge piece of very sharp plastic in his tacos. Well, he found it in his mouth and thankfully didn't get cut. We told our waiter and she said she was sorry. Then the proceeded to still charge us for his plastic filled tacos which is quite sad. I think most places would automatically take it off. Very disappointed. Other bad things, it's extremely overpriced for what it is. Seems like they are trying to take advantage of the fact that New Jersey people really don't know what good Mexican food is. So sad. Probably the first and only time we will come here. Some of our food was okay. But I was shocked that their rice and beans was SO far from authentic it's crazy. I'm from California and grew up eating Latin food since I was one year old. Never do you see par cooked rice being used as Mexican rice. It was like the packaged pre cooked uncle bens rice from the grocery store. Beans were tasteless. But the huge hunk of sharp hard plastic wad the horrible icing on the cake. If this restaurant gave me $100 to eat there I wouldn't go. We've now had two bad experiences there. Last night we went with another couple. my husband and our friend ordered this dish called, Molcajetes, heated lava bowl, My husbands dish had nothing but green peppers and sauce in it, and our friends dish had DOUBLE chicken, vegetables and everything it was supposed to have. That is how incompetent the kitchen staff is. My husband had to wait while he sent his food back, which we never like to do, and when he got back it had no cheese, it was awful. They barely apologized. My friend and I ordered shrimp fajitas. The only thing that was good out of the entire dish was the shrimp. The vegetables were undercooked, the rice and beans looked like it had been sitting out for hours and was cold, and the tortillas were raw. The whole experience was very disappointing. read more

Hi Sunman here, had lunch here today(1-22-2019) and a wonderful experience. I was greeted by Theresa and quickly was seated with water, ice tea and a menu. Restaurant is very clean with authentic décor. I ordered the ceviche and chili rellenos. All was promptly served with chips sauces, frijoles and rice, also masa tortillas. Will be back with my better half to try the tacos pastor! YUM! No bar but BYOB! My wife and I went to Cielito Lindo last night (2-2-2019) at about 6pm. A pleasant surprise was a traditional singer entertaining the nice family crowd. He was very entertaining and dressed in a traditional cowboy outfit...nicely done. He worked the crowd, and sang traditional songs. My wife ordered the volcano of shrimp, chicken in a wonderful sauce with cactus (napoles). I had tacos al pastor. A lovely sauce with pineapple. Highly recommend both dishes especially the volcano served in a volcano bowl made of volcanic rock and bubbling away!!! Very nice presentation!!! give it a try!!! read more

This has been my favorite South NJ restaurant for years. If you want high quality Mexican food and something different than what you will typically get, you have to try Cielito Lindo. This is Mexican food for the foodie. The food and presentation are exceptional, and they have friendly service. I was vegetarian before and my go to's were the lindos nachos which can be made vegetarian and also the veggie quesadilla. They use many different veggies than what you will typically get at a Mexican restaurant.. think cauliflower, squash, carrots, radishes, to name a few vs. the typical onions and peppers. Now I am vegan though, so I called and spoke to the Owner worried that he might think I'm crazy for this request, however, I asked him to consider adding some vegan options to the menu... not just a situation where they can make something vegan, but actually have unique vegan options and a vegan section and to my delight he was sincerely receptive, thankful for the request, and will be giving it some thought. I have spoken to him before to compliment him on the food, and he is very nice and customer focused. I am very excited to see what he comes up with! Keep up the great work Regulo! My wife and I decided to give this place a try and I am soooo glad we did! The service is outstanding and food was perfect! We had the tacos de pescado (fried Mahi) and the tacos de asada with a side of guacamole. While we were waiting for our food to arrive we were given a small plate of chips with refried beans on top and two small sides of dipping sauce. You know me... I love my Mexican food and I've been WAITING for one to open in our town (Medford). I unexpectedly spotted this before it opened as I was passing by one day. It's on Route 70, so the very north edge, but close enough. I kept reading good reviews once they opened and have been patiently waiting until we were able to find time to go. We finally did today! It's a Saturday and we were first in at 1130am. You don't assume much by the outside, but it's nicely decorated inside... easily a place for a date night, not some hole in the wall... but definitely not dressy. I'll cut to the point. They serve water in patron bottles, as you won't be getting any tequila from them... this is a byob... that's fine (I knew before coming), we decided we didn't need cocktails anyhow. They bring out my favorite kind of chips and salsa, the ones with beans and cotija cheese. Delicious! Even better is the red and green salsa. They come out in small cups, not meant to be used in heaping amounts... but I'm a heathen and requested more..... 3 times! Jared ordered his go-to Rojas enchiladas, one chicken, one cheese which came with rice and beans. At first he wasn't overly impressed and concerned he order mole sauce (which he dislikes) but I think they grew on him more. He said he would order them again, but would probably try something else next time. Now onto my meal! I ordered the Flautas de Pollo and the plaintain side dish. Loved them both!! First, the presentation of the flautas is spot on and I'm always a little concerned whatever I order won't be enough, but this was not the case... I had leftovers. I would most definitely order these again. I saved the best for last... the plaintains. THESE ARE SO GOOD, definitely my favorite of the meal. These are a must whenever we come again! Lastly, service and the other stuff... the waiters were nice and accommodating. The food was slightly above normal price for an average Mexican restaurant, but I didn't feel it was as bad as I heard before coming. Plus, I enjoyed the food and the flavors they've got going on. Amazing spot. We started with the ceviche and chips and salsa. Both were a great example of what our meals were going to be. We ordered the "all in one" fajitas (chicken, steak and shrimp) and the shrimp tacos which were on special. The fajitas could have easily fed two people. Besides the meats featured with the fajitas, the charred vegetables included pepper, onions, and zucchini (game changer) My shrimp tacos came as a pair char grilled with crispy green onions, guacamole and a creamy adobo sauce. I have been to this place numerous times and it just gets better. We went last night for my birthday. It was 30 mins before they close and I hate to be that guy but there was no other place I wanted to be to celebrate it. They were so happy to see us and that I chose their establishment to dine on my birthday. The food, as always, was on point. We got the usual sampler, Caesar salad and their famous Lava Bowl. Which if you haven't tried it you need to. It is a sight for the eyes and it's amazing. We also overindulged and got a taco sampler which they hand picked for us the variety. Medford's hidden gem! My husband and I thought we would try out Cielito Lindo for a Saturday date night. We were blown away by the atmosphere, service, and food. We were greeted very pleasantly by the staff, and walked to our table right away. The restaurant was lively, but the noise level was low to moderate, making it easy for conversation. We were given small samples of both the house made lemonade and the raspberry water - both delicious it was difficult to choose - remember this is BYOB. The chicken tenders tasted better sadly. My huarache was flavorless and my husbands fish tacos had no seasoning. If it wasn't for Leonardo our experience would have been a total bust. We just finished lunch there. They have a lot going for them. The restaurant seats a lot but doesn't feel crowded. Nicely decorated. Service was good (should be! We were the only people there!). I ordered tortilla soup and the steak burrito. My mother got the fish tacos. Here's where the major issue starts: while eating the soup, I feel something odd in my mouth. At first I thought it was Christmas tinsel. Then I figured out that it is metal from a Brillo scrubbing pad. The waiter was very apologetic. I lost my appetite really for the rest of my meal. My mother (who is gluten free) didn't realize that the fish in the tacos was fried (hence, gluten). The menu didn't indicate this, however we didn't ask either. The sad part is that I did enjoy the flavors of the food I ate. And that the food is more authentic than not. But I just can't get past eating sharp metal. read more
