In town for work and had a hankering for Mexican. Searched "Restaurant Schaumburg" here and saw this 5-star gem on page two. We came, we ate and we would return again and again and again if we lived here. We ordered the Guacamole and it was tasty and generous. We each ordered 3 tacos: 1 Chicken, 1 Pastor and 1 Asada. OMG. They were grilled to perfection and magically seasoned. The meats were tender on the inside and crisp on the outside, simply delicious. You cannot see anything left because we devoured them. The service was genuinely friendly and super kind, our server even refilled my Horchata, which was also outstanding, btw. Very cite little Mexican spot on Roselle Road. Really nice staff, lots of parking and nice location. Now that the technicalities are out if the way, let's move on the the most important peice, the food! We ordered the chicken cemita and el pastor burrito. Both were rich and delicious. The cemita bread was soft and fresh and the Oaxaca cheese, hanging out from all sides was a creamy and delightful. The chicken was thin and crispy and it was loaded with avocados and other things that just tied it all together. It was huge and I only got through half of it. The burrito which I did get a taste of was loaded with meat and cheese. Pretty authentic al pastor. Again the cheese was stealing the show. They give free refills on some drinks like ice cold jamaica . Try el cielo out. It not the same old Mexican restaurant, very unique and don't forget the cheese! read more

My husband and I had dinner there last night and arrived about an hour before closing time. We were greeted with a smile and seated immediately. I noticed the warm welcoming decor, which made the place feel special. We ordered ourselves a drink, I had the Horchata, which was very yummy, and my husband had a Diet Coke. It didn't appear that they were selling liquor, so perhaps that will be something they do in the future. We had some questions about the menu and asked them for their suggestions. The owner came over to the table and told us about the food specialties, including the one (Arabe) that was from the region where he grew up. He clearly took pride in the food, and made several suggestions for us. We took his advice and ordered the tortilla soup, as well as the Arabe sandwich. I also ordered a Pastor taco and. Shrimp taco. The tortilla soup was one of the best that I've had, complex in flavor and texture. Highly recommend! The Arabe sandwich (which is pork based)had a Smokey flavor from chipotle peppers and a lovely sort of sweet sauce was served on the side. The Pastor was very good. Flavorful, moist yet crispy edges. I took home the shrimp taco and ate it the next day, it was fabulous. Clearly, there is care and love in the food as well as in the service, I would highly recommend a trip to this fantastic, Mexican restaurant for delicious food, excellent service, and very reasonable prices. Went in on a Sunday around noon and sat down right away. The place is nice, clean, modern with good climate control. We were attended right away with water and salsa and chips of which tasted great. Nice large portion as well. We put in our orders and received them in pretty quickly. The food was great. I appreciated nothing tasted overly salted. The portions were great. Stopped in for a quick lunch. Had a burrito, asked if I could have it with Arabe (pork), which the menu offered as a taco, but not burritos. The waitress/hostess said no problem. It was delicious, plenty of meat, tasty, homemade beans and homemade Oaxacan cheese! A small ramekin fin homemade chipotle sauce worked well with the pork, and had a bit of a worked well with the pork, and had a sweet, bbq taste. Homemade horchata was a perfect complement, and it includes free refills. If you dine in, it is very tastefully decorated, super clean, and low noise levels. The arbol salsa that comes with the chips is a tolerable heat, and the chips are warm we're served. Cielo can be used to mean heaven in Spanish, and if the whole menu is as good as my little taste, it is an apt name for this establishment. read more

I'm a taco joint fan. I use to only be a steak taco or steak burrito kind of guy but I now prefer a bit more variety and will order different items at these spots. I ordered a steak, chicken & shrimp taco to try on this visit. The shrimp taco only had lettuce & chipotle sauce and HOLEE COW was it stellar! Large, plump shrimps to devour. The grilled chicken taco was outstanding as well. However, the steak taco was only ok for me, not bad, not great. Best Mexican restaurant in the area. The steak is perfectly cooked with nice char. The soups they have are amazing and can be a meal by itself. The chicken noodle has a ton of chicken. The quesadillas are huge and can be shared by 2. The service is very friendly and attentive. Go here if you want upper scale Mexican without the high prices. The only draw is they don't have alcohol. This place was recommended to us by good friends who actually will host an event at this very place! It is small but absolutely inviting and the staff are genuinely friendly! I decided to go here to celebrate my birthday and was surprised by how empty it was around dinner time. Regardless, this did not shy me away from my choice. The food was absolutely delicious and most importantly, authentic! We ordered Chicken fajitas, tacos de asada, tacos de chorizo, arroz y frijoles, y Chile relleno. The salsas had a great range of spice. We drank agua de horchata y mango (I didn't see alcoholic beverages on the menu). The portions were a good size and some shareable, such as the taquitos de queso y papá which is actually an appetizer and depending on your hunger, you may finish on your own! One of us is vegetarian and we would've liked the Chile Relleno dish to have had 2 Chiles instead of just one. Again, we were celebrating my birthday... And when we order dessert, prior to it being served at our table, the staff played a mariachi version of happy birthday which was so sweet ! Speaking of music, they had an awesome playlist going! Located in a shopping strip away from the hustle and bustle of daily traffic, this cozy and quaint restaurant depicts a somewhat traditional yet modern flair of Mexican cuisine. I loved that it was clean and friendly, and very well decorated. Tasty Mexican fresh waters such as horchata, hibiscus, tamarin, and mango served with free refills. Had a cheese quesadilla that came with a portion of pico di gallo, guacamole, sour cream, and salsa to garnish and dip your slices of goodness which was a true treat! Authentic cheese, Oaxaca cheese was used, which is the proper cheese creating the magic of melting perfection. Next, had a fresh Mexican chopped salad, of which my guest had requested a half portion, and even though it was not offerer on the menu they still accommodated. This was followed by a Cemita Poblana of breaded steak and another with marinated pork, their signature dishes. Interestingly enough, this stackable concept originated from the city and region of Puebla in Mexico. Ended the evening with a BANG and had an order of the churros which were hot, made fresh to order, and absolutely mind blowing! Food was good but could have used some more spice. Shrimp taco was flavorful, and the chicken in chicken burrito was soft. We were looking for another local Mexican Restaurant so I checked YELP for some ideas. Cielo Mexican Grill had some solid reviews and we decided to give it a try. Located right off Roselle Road near Wise Road in a shopping center with plenty of parking outside. The restaurant itself is really inviting with cool lighting and Mexican music playing in the background. Everyone seated was eating and smiling. We were greeted warmly and seated promptly. Chips and salsa appeared instantly. The salsa was yummy and a bit spicier than expected which I loved. We ordered chicken tacos steak tacos and a chicken cemita. The taco meats were cut into small pieces, well seasoned and no mystery meats! I meant to bring one of my tacos home to see how it would taste tomorrow but I was unsuccessful.
