This looked like a fun christmas bar, and a nice concept, but lacking in the drink department. While they had a lot of cute christmas drinks none of them were good. Mine tasted like water with simple syrup, and they were very light and not flavorful at all. The ambiance was very bright and colorful, and empty for a friday night, I think it was the drinks. The service was just okay but the server was trying to get off early and told us they were leaving and wouldn't put our drink orders in and we could order at the bar. We didn't get any food, but because of the bad drinks I will not be back. read more

We stopped at Playdate for some afternoon snacks prior to shopping 12s. Parking is paid lots or looking for a street spot on the neighborhood. Staff was very friendly. It wasn't busy at the time we went but looks like a fun spot with a slide from inside level to outside. The pretzel is fried and very good but needs more than one cup of dip for how big it is. The pizza rolls were our favorite so good! The whipped feta just tasted like cream cheese one of the worst whipped feta's I have had but it was good to use with the pretzel since not much dip came with it. The pita needs to be toasted or popped in frier as well. read more

Came here to grab some holiday cocktails with some friends and we had a ton of fun. We made a reservation online and when I put in the party number, it said the earliest availability was 8:30pm. We were intending to meet up for dinner but settled on the later time. Upon arrival, we were a bit shocked to see that the establishment was nearly empty. This was odd, and we were seated immediately, but wish we had come earlier. I guess my lesson is don't use their online reservation system or call in advance to see what their true wait times are. We decided to set in the heated outdoor area, which was very festive (you can also take a slide down there)! There was an incredible live musician playing. Happy hour started at 9pm, which was a perk of arriving at a later time. My group went with the Rudolph's Tipsy Punch, which was very cutely decorated with santa hats and disco balls! The drink, while more on a lighter side, was very yummy. We also got seasoned fries and a pretzel to share, both which met typical bar food standards. TLDR: Food and drinks are typical to any bar, amibiance is very cute especially during the holidays, not sure what's up with their only reservation system so call in advance. This place is such a blast! My friends and I came here for brunch, and we had an amazing time. The restaurant's decor is bright and playful, perfectly matching its name and creating a fun, inviting atmosphere. There are so many cute photo opportunities, from the slide to the neon signs and the famous mural. I ordered the burger and fries, and both were cooked to perfection. The burger was juicy, and the fries were perfectly crispy. We also shared a pretzel as an appetizer, and it might just be the best pretzel I've ever had! Went here on a Tuesday for happy hour with the girls because their social media looks so fun and cute! The happy hour deals aren't posted anywhere we could find but it's BOGO drafts, $4 mystery beer, and $7 blueberry lemon martini. We were surprised to see we were the only people in the entire restaurant at 6pm and quickly learned why. They were out of half the things we tried to order, the blueberry lemon martini tasted like pink whitney, the slide isn't even slippery - you have to work to get down it, and in general the food was pretty lackluster. The sauce on the brussels was great, but there was WAY too much. My friend got the burger and said it was fine. Even though we were the only ones there, the service was still pretty slow. Perfect outing for a hot day! My friend and I went on a Sunday. We stumbled upon this place while walking down 12South. You walk down a little alley off the main street in between murals. Parking is basically anywhere you can find. There is street parking but also lots. So cute and great atmosphere. Its in the back, you cant miss it with the big slide. Great space, plenty of seating with photo ops and fans. We opted for sitting at the bar and ordered their slushie drinks and apps. The hummus and celery sticks hit the spot. Plentiful and great sharing appetizer. The slushies were great for the heat. Service, great! Our server continuously checked in on us. Gave us water and the works. My wife and I, and another family couple thought it would be cool to check this place out for Valentine's Day. A really cool concept for a restaurant and the heated outdoor igloos was a nice touch. Only reason I'm not giving this place 5 stars is because the menu seemed plain and didn't have many choices. But the food we did have was pretty good, and the BRUSSEL SPROUTS were amazing!!! We got a basket of Brussel Sprouts to share and after a few bites, we all wanted our separate basket, it was that good! The drink selections were good and the names were whimsical, definitely in line with the vibe of the restaurant. My friends and I went to Playdate for their Christmas popup. The decorations are so fun and are a great place to take pictures with your friends. They have a slide to get into the back part of the bar which is a great time. We got the punch bowl to share which was really good. We also got the big pretzel (not pictured) which was good, but maybe a little overcooked and under salted. I got the Nashville Hot Chicken dog which was good although also could have been seasoned more. The fries are very well seasoned and very yummy. They don't have their own parking lot, but it's generally pretty easy to get street parking in 12 South as long as you don't mind walking just a little. The band they had playing was also so great! This place is fun but it's not my first place to go when i'm at 12 South. First of all, the bartenders are pretty inconsistent so you're either going to get a really good drink or a drink that is so strong you can barely drink it. This is kinda annoying when you're paying like 15 bucks for a drink. If i'm paying that much I want it made well the first time! They have a little slide you can go down too which is fun and a great photo opportunity, but there are usually a lot of kids here and getting on the slide is pretty impossible with them running around and not being supervised by parents. Not the restaurants fault by any means and kids will be kids, it's just something to keep in mind if you thought this was a kid-free place! read more

I was in town for the weekend to run a half marathon, and after the race I decided to explore the city. I randomly stumbled upon Playdate as I was walking down the street. The sign in the driveway caught my attention, and I was feeling ready for a beverage so I went in. Playdate is an old house that was converted into a bar. I did not go into the main bar in the house because it was a nice day out and wanted to sit outside in the backyard/patio area. I walk down the driveway, past the fun sign, and I see the entrance to the patio and to my left a slide! That's right they have a slide in the patio. I sat at the bar, which I assume used to be the garage for the house, which provided me with a great view of the rest of the patio. It also allowed to me keep an eye on the games that were on the TV's behind the bar. I ordered a Tito's and Soda, and met a bunch of friendly locals who were out enjoying the beautiful day. They have food too, but I had already eaten lunch. This is a gem that I stumbled upon, great for day drinking with friends, or for a day date, or for wait for it...a play date! lol read more

Absolutely horrible experience. Ive worked in the service industry for several years and never treated customers as we were treated, even on my worst day. Staff (specifically bartender and general manager) acted like we were the biggest inconvenience to be there and there was nobody else in there besides another 4 top at 6pm on a thursday night. drinks were horrible and took 20 minutes for one drink. Food was pretty good and came out fast but the attitudes and slamming drinks down ruined the vibe. Biggest attitudes ive ever encountered. Overheard the manager talking to another employee about how "annoying" other patrons in there were. Super unprofessional. No wonder they were a ghost town on a Thursday night when the rest of the street was busy. I'm a frequent visitor of 12 south establishments and gave this place a try for once, but I will not be back. read more

This is such a cool restaurant/bar in 12 South! My boyfriend and I stopped in during our visit to Nashville. The atmosphere is so unique. There's an indoor seating area, but also a backyard-style area with a bar, tables, and a SLIDE! We hung out here for a few hours and ended up doing trivia since we were there on a Thursday. They feature different entertainment every day of the week (live music, trivia, DJ, etc.) We really enjoyed the cocktails and the food. I got the buffalo chicken wrap and it was AMAZING! I will say, the outside service is a bit strange. I'm not sure if you have to ask to request a server when sitting outside or not. For the first hour or so that we were there, we were going up to the bar to order drinks. That being said, some people had a server going to their table and bringing them drinks. Not a big deal, just a bit confusing. We eventually did request a server when we wanted to order food and Sadie was amazing! If we're ever in the area again, we will definitely go back. read more

(Update below) WARNING! Do your body a favor and don't eat the chicken wings. Idk if it's the chicken they use or the lack of cooking, but rubbery and gross. The last one I picked up to consider trying to eat looked more like a baked potato skin than chicken. Obviously frozen junk with low quality. I got home from the restaurant sick and it lasted into the next day. As one to normally finish an order of chicken wings I got maybe half way or a wing over and just let the rest be thrown away. Update: I reached out to the email they left on another review that I left and they asked to give them a second chance (not a fan of going back to a place that made me sick, but they are new so things happen). Well Daria Grattan believes getting sick from their food is me "not liking our chicken". When I pointed out it wasn't about not liking it, but rather getting sick from their chicken she decided she had done enough lip service and stopped responding. Don't give this place your money they are another brand wanting to move into a hot city, but doesn't care about their customers, food safety, or the community.
